• Flex list-controls - maintain remote data

  Hello. I have a TileList which represents some remote data. I also have a form which allows me to change the data. And the data may be changed by someone else too. What is the best way to maintain data in the list in an up-to-date state? The simplest option I see is the following: Select an item in the list Edit it in the form Save it. The form submits the data to the server When the server reports success the list re-fetches it's data The very bad thing about this workflow is that the list loses selection (a tree would also loose the nodes' expanded/collapsed state). I would really love to find out another option which would enable the list to maintain it's selection state. Any guesses on how it may be done?

  I had assumed that the canonical form for operator+, assuming the existence of an overloaded operator+= member function, was like this: const T operator+(const T& lhs, const T& rhs) { return T(lhs) +=rhs; } But it was pointed out to me that this would also work: const T operator+ (T lhs, const T& rhs) { return lhs+=rhs; } In essence, this form transfers creation of the temporary from the body of the implementation to the function call. It seems a little awkward to have different types for the two parameters, but is there anything wrong with the second form? Is there a reason to prefer one over the other?

  Good day (and happy New Year), I'm a beginner VB.Net programmer using VS 2008. I'm planning a new winform project whose main form should look more or less like this: MAIN MENU 1. DoSomething1 2. DoSomething2 3. DoSomething3 ... Please choose: [TextBox] The user can either choose from the Main Menu (by clicking an item) or enter the item number in the textbox. For example, if the user clicks DoSomething3 in the Main Menu (or alternatively enters 3 in the textbox), another form will be opened and hide the main form. What would be the best way to implement it? Specifically, I would like to know how I make so that choosing from the menu and entering a number in the textbox fire the same event. Any help or hints will be appreciated.

  I'm creating a search page on our SharePoint site that will allow users to find results from a SQL table by either performing a search from a text box @Param1, or selecting a value from a dropdown @SiteParam. My SQL SelectStatement is SELECT * FROM [Routing] WHERE [Site] LIKE CASE WHEN @Param1 IS NOT NULL THEN '%' + @Param1 + '%' ELSE @SiteParam This works great in SQL when I declare the parameters and set values for the search, but not so much in SharePoint. I've been able to get it to work if I don't do the case and just use 1 of the parameters, but I haven't found a way to get it to do either of them. Any help is appreciated! Thanks

• BATCH - wait for executable to finish before starting next result

  I'm pretty much a noob at this, so any help is appreciated. I'm trying to run the video transcoding executable REDline on all .R3D files in a given folder. REDline only accepts single files, which is the issue. I finally got it to search recursively for the files I need, but my problem is the search function passes the next result to REDline before the first one is finished transcoding. I have the search results that need to run in a variable inside REDline. Here's the code: for /r D:\folder\ %%a in (*) do ( "C:/Program Files/REDCINE-X PRO 64-bit/REDLine.exe" --exportPreset "Prores_Intermediate" --i "%%~dpnxa" --useRSX 2 --masterRMDFolder "" -s 0 -e 95 ) After about .7 seconds, REDline reports 'received stop message from client'. I don't think this is a REDline error, as I have been able to transcode single files successfully. Thanks.

  I have a multiple select as below. It allows me to select options as below. Assume that 3 sports are selected. When the items are select as shown above form submit is successful. But unfortunately if the sports are not selected like below when the form is submitted post is empty.   i saw a trick in a book: in a linux shell, we can use &? to get the return value of a command. For example,we run a command,if it exit normally, the return value is 0. And then we type $?,we will get 0 in the screen. i want to google this kind of usage, so i have to type these two symbol $? in the search blank.But the search engine just return nothing to me... i have looked at the google help page, but still can't find a solution. so my question is: how can i search with this kind of keyword. or if you can give me some advise of the usage of $? or sort of thing, that will be also appreciated.

• None of my Win Forms buttons work

  I have a windows form which connects to a SQL Server though a dataset. The form was working fine since my last compile. All of a sudden, none of my buttons work! The data is loaded on the form, all the tabs work fine, drop down boxes work fine, but the buttons are literally unresponsive to any clicks. I added a test button and I get the same results. I can visually see the button getting clicked but no events. Any ideas?

  I'm using the following code to post to the server which is then sent to a MYSQL query to find matches via search. $.ajax({ url: '/search/spotlight/', data: "q=" + $(this).val(), success: function(data) { } }); When Q's val has spaces in it, it's creating problems. I'm wondering if I'm handling this correctly? Do I need to encode the value in the AJAX call?   I want to send data to server by enclosing it in a form. However, in asp.net I can't use more than one form with runat=server attribute. Then what is the use of using multiple forms on asp.net page. I can't access the data on the server? Like facebook enclose each post feedback data in a form and then submits this to server. How to do this in asp.net. I have to send data to server when some action occurs on a post but will have to store hiddenfield and read it with javascript is it not seems messy?

  Ok I know little about SQL so bare with me... I'm trying to see if certain values exist in a third level table and I don't know how to go about it. Here is the scenario... I have a Accident table that holds accident information. It has 3 one-to-many child tables (Units, Occupants, NonMotorists). An each of those child tables have their own many-to-many child table (Alcohol). I need to be able to have some way of seeing if a range of values exists in a field in those Alcohol tables.   I know that using GitHub I can search through all the current versions of my files in a repo. However, I would also like to search through the older versions of my repo files. For example, say, I used to have a function called get_info() in my code, but deleted it several versions ago, is it possible to search for get_info and find the code. If it is not possible using GitHub, is it possible from the git command line? EDIT Thanks to @Mark Longair for showing how this can be done from the git command line. If it's not possible in GitHub it would be a great feature to have.

  I have a Windows Forms application with a BackgroundWorker. In a method on the main form, a MessageBox is shown and the user must click the OK button to continue. Meanwhile, while the messagebox is being displayed, the BackgroundWorker finishes executing and calls the RunWorkerCompleted event. In the method I have assigned to that event, which runs on the UI thread, the Close method is called on the form. Even though the method that shows the message box is still running, the UI thread is not blocking other threads from invoking methods on it. So the Close method gets called on the form. What I want is for the UI thread to block other threads' invokes until the method with the message box has finished. Is there an easy way to do that?

  im testing symfony form validation. the problem is very simple. no matter what i put in the body text area and post it, i keep getting "Required" back. i dont know why. i just have one validation rule. here is the code: code what is wrong/how can i debug? thanks UPDATE: it has something to do with the binding in the controller. cause even if i delete the validation the form will still not be valid and it will be passed to the template but this time without the "Required". so it wont be valid no matter if ive got the validation or not. it has something to do with the embedForm() maybe? someone that has validated an embeded form?

  In PHP, I had this line matches = preg_grep('/^for/', array_keys($hash)); What it would do is it would grab the words: fork, form etc. that are in $hash. In Python, I have a dict with 400,000 words. It's keys are words I'd like to present in an auto-complete like feature (the values in this case are meaningless). How would I be able to return the keys from my dictionary that match the input? For example (as used earlier), if I have my_dic = t{"fork" : True, "form" : True, "fold" : True, "fame" : True} and I get some input "for", It'll return a list of "fork", "form", "fold"

  I ran a C++ program in Xcode, and encountered a warning of "Control may reach end of non-void function". Here is the code: Node* search(Node* head, int x) { if(!head) return NULL; else if(x == head->key) return head; else if(x < head->key) search(head->lchild, x); else search(head->rchild, x); } I got the same warning when compiling it in Linux, but got the correct result. But in Xcode, the result was wrong. By the way, I got the correct answer and no warning in Visual Studio.

  Hi, I'm starting Android doing an application for searching restaurants, and some guidance would be welcome! On the first screen I'd like to have a search field with a submit button (I get the data from a web service), and below a list with the results of the search. When clicking on one of the items of the list it will show a screen with the restaurant details as well as a map showing its location. My questions are: Can I do everything in one single activity or should I do an activity for the search, one for the result list, one for the restaurant description, and another for the map? Would doing one single activity make the application more responsive? How can I use a list and a map within a normal activity (without ListActivity and MapActivity)? • Why are my Lucene Document results empty?

  I'm running a simple test--trying to index something and then search for it. I index a simple document, but then when a search for a string in it, I get back what looks to be an empty document (it has no fields). Lucene seems to be doing something, because if I search for a word that's not in the document, it returns 0 results. Any reason why Lucene would reliably return a document when it finds one that matches the given query, and yet that document has nothing in it? Thanks! PS: I'm actually running Lucandra (Lucene + Cassandra). That certainly may be a relevant detail, but not sure.
