    I am trying to use FileLock lock(long position, long size,boolean shared) in FileChannel object As per the javadoc it can throw OverlappingFileLockException. When I create a test program with 2 threads lock method seems to be waiting to acquire the lock (both exclusive and non exclusive) But when the number threads increases in the acutal scenario over lapping file lock exception is thrown and processing slows down due the block at File lock table. What is the best way to acquire lock avoiding the OverlappingFileLockException ?

  • .NET JIT Code Cache leaking?

    We have a server component written in .Net 3.5. It runs as service on a Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition. It works great but after some time (days) we notice massive slowdowns and an increased working set. We expected some kind of memory leak and used WinDBG/SOS to analyze dumps of the process. Unfortunately the GC Heap doesn’t show any leak but we noticed that the JIT code heap has grown from 8MB after the start to more than 1GB after a few days. We don’t use any dynamic code generation techniques by our own. We use Linq2SQL which is known for dynamic code generation but we don’t know if it can cause such a problem. The main question is if there is any technique to analyze the dump and check where all this Host Code Heap blocks that are shown in the WinDBG dumps come from? [Update] In the mean time we did some more analysis and had Linq2SQL as probable suspect, especially since we do not use precompiled queries.     Hi, I'm currently adding a PDF viewer in a Delphi program using TAcroPDF. My problem is, the touch screens that need to show the PDF are rather small, so I wanted to add bigger buttons for scrolling. I thought I could use the function ScrollBy(DeltaX, DeltaY), but the function scrolls the component within it's container in stead of scrolling the document itself. Is there some way to scroll the PDF document?

As the variable belongs to the data segment of each process, the final value is 10 because the increment is independent. However, the memory address of the shared variables is the same, you can try compiling and watching the output of the program. How can that be explained ? I cannot understand that, I thought I knew how the fork() works, but this seems very odd.. I need an explanation on why the address is the same, although they are separate variables.

    i want to write program, in windows, which will write a .sh file, then connect to a linux machine via cygwin and ssh, and execute that .sh file. I've had to use dos2unix to convert .sh files that I created in windows to run under linux. Obviously if I am executing a script with ssh it will have to be linux formatted to work. so I need to know how to create a linux appropriate .sh file using c or openoffice basic or vBA. thanks!

  • Getting a screenshot of a page using .NET - Need help with code

    I'm writing a specialized crawler and parser for internal use and I require the ability to take a screenshot of a web page in order to check what colours are being used throughout. The program will take in around ten web addresses and will save them as a bitmap image, from there I plan to use LockBits in order to create a list of the five most used colours within the image. To my knowledge it's the easiest way to get the colours used within a web page but if there is an easier way to do it please chime in with your suggestions. Anyway, I was going to use this program until I saw the price tag. I'm also fairly new to C#, having only used it for a few months. Can anyone provide me with a solution to my problem of taking a screenshot of a web page in order to extract the colour scheme? EDIT: Sorry for not getting back to this sooner, but I've been busy with some other things. Anyway, the code seems to work well, but the problem I am having right now is that I am running it within a form, and naturally with Application.Run() being called I cannot run two instances of the same form at once. It recommended Form.showDialog() but that broke everything. My problem is that the file is starting to be heavy and I would like to increase the compression level, since compression time is not an issue. If you add a printStackTrace you can see that the exception always occur. What's wrong here? The JavaDB should not throw this exception, or they should fix something in the example program?

  • Reading HTTP server push streams with Python

    I'm playing around trying to write a client for a site which provides data as an HTTP stream (aka HTTP server push). However, urllib2.urlopen() grabs the stream in its current state and then closes the connection. I tried skipping urllib2 and using httplib directly, but this seems to have the same behaviour. Is there a way to get the stream to stay open, so it can be checked each program loop for new contents, rather than waiting for the whole thing to be redownloaded every few seconds, introducing lag?

'"java.exe"' is not recognized as an internal or external command. Soooo I am thinking I need to get java.exe in order to use 'ant' properly. Where can I find it? What downloadable contains it?
