  • Raspberry Pi based Hadoop cluster

    Is it at least possible to build Hadoop cluster from Raspberry Pi-based nodes? Can such a cluster meet hardware requirements of Hadoop? And if so, how much Raspberry Pi nodes are required to meet requirements? I understand that a cluster from several Raspberry Pi nodes being cheap is not powerful. My purpose is to organize cluster without possibility of loosing personal data from my desktop or notebook, and to use this cluster studying Hadoop. I'd appreciate if you suggest any better ideas of organizing a cheap Hadoop cluster for studying purposes. UPD: I've seen that recommended amount of memory for Hadoop is 16-24GB, multi-core processors, and 1TB of HDD, but it doesn't look like minimal requirements.

Since it's in flash, we do not worry about Javascript, we do not support non-javascript users.     I'm really looking for something very similar to the way SO is setup where a few different kinds of things can be voted on (questions AND answers). What kind of DB schema, generally, could I use to support voting on many different kinds of objects? Would I have a single Vote table that would have references to other objects in the database? Or do I have to have or should have a separate vote table for each of the objects I would like to vote on.

  • How to move mail accounts when migrating webhosting

    I am migrating my website abc.com from one webhosting company to another in a shared hosting environment. Both have cpanel. And the second hosting account i am preparing to move is my multi-domain hosting account with 3 domains already in it. The problem is, i have many email accounts associated with my website abc.com, which are accessed using webmail. So if i move it to the other host, will i lose all those accounts and their emails? If yes, then how should i synchronise the email accounts so that all the accounts and the contained emails remain intact? I saw some several sync tools like IMAP Sync, etc. But these require two hosts while synchronizing, and as you see, i have just one domain name to be synchronized over 2 servers. PS, i do not have any ssh access on either of them, and i have made complete backup of all files using backup wizard in cpanel.

I now am trying to tackle the search function.     I have some philosophical feeling that adding to an entity fields which doesn't mapped to the DB is a wrong way of solving problems. But are there any concrete situations where using @Transient fields leads to implicit and hard fixing problems? For example, is it possible that adding/removing 2nd level cache will break our app when there are @Transient fields in our entities?

    VM software does a great job of saving state when you "turn it off," allowing instant and immediate return to that previous state. Is there some application for Windows that allows me to do the same thing, for any arbitrary software? It would allow me to save/restore state, possibly via a shell command or button that it appends to every window. Edit: For clarity, there are two types of apps: those that save their own states, and those that save others' states. Those that save their own state are like Chrome, which on load, reloads the windows you had open last time. That's not what I'm asking about; I'm asking for an app that can save the state of other apps, kind of like VM software does; but for any app. (A trivial test would be load notepad++, type a bunch of stuff, and save-state; on reset-state, you should be able to multi-level undo a lot of what you wrote, as if you never shut down the application.)
