  • Download files from a SharePoint site using the RSSBus SSIS Components

    In this article we will show how to use a stored procedure included in the RSSBus SSIS Components for SharePoint to download files from SharePoint. While the article uses the RSSBus SSIS Components for SharePoint, the same process will work for any of our SSIS Components. Step 1: Open Visual Studio and create a new Integration Services Project. Step 2: Add a new Data Flow Task to the Control Flow screen and open the Data Flow Task. Step 3: Add an RSSBus SharePoint Source to the Data Flow Task. Step 4: In the RSSBus SharePoint Source, add a new Connection Manager, and add your credentials for the SharePoint site. Step 5: Now from the Table or View dropdown, choose the name of the Document Library that you are going to back up and close the wizard. Step 6: Add a Script Component to the Data Flow Task and drag an output arrow from the 'RSSBus SharePoint Source' to it. Step 7: Open the Script Component, go to edit the Input Columns, and choose all the columns. Step 8: This will open a new Visual Studio instance, with a project in it. In this project add a reference to the RSSBus.SSIS2008.SharePoint assembly available in the RSSBus SSIS Components for SharePoint installation directory. Step 9: In the 'ScriptMain' class, add the System.Data.RSSBus.SharePoint namespace and go to the 'Input0_ProcessInputRow' method (this method's name may vary depending on the input name in the Script Component). Step 10: In the 'Input0_ProcessInputRow' method, you can add code to use the DownloadDocument stored procedure.   • Need help with chronic slow wifi connections

    I have had chronic slow wifi connections on several networks for a while now, I think since my update to 12.04 when it came out. I have tried many of the tips and tricks already available out there in the forums with no luck (wicd, etc..). I want to see if any of you experts out there might be able to help me, and thanks in advance!! I use ubuntu 12.04 on a lenovo ideapad y650, and most networks I connect to lose the connection frequently or do not give appropriate bandwidth when I am connected.   • BIDS Helper 1.6 Beta Release (now with SQL 2012 support!)

    The beta for BIDS Helper 1.6 was just released. We have not updated the version notification just yet as we would like to get some feedback on people's experiences with the SQL 2012 version. So if you are using SQL 2012, go grab it and let us know how you go (you can post a comment on this blog post or on the BIDS Helper site itself). This is the first release that supports SQL 2012 and consequently also the first release that runs in Visual Studio 2010. A big thanks to Greg Galloway for doing the bulk of the work on this release. Please note that if you are doing an xcopy deploy that you will need to unblock the files you download or you will get a cryptic error message. This appears to be caused by a security update to either Visual Studio or the .Net framework – the xcopy deploy instructions have been updated to show you how to do this. Below are the notes from the release page. ====== This beta release is the first to support SQL Server 2012 (in addition to SQL Server 2005, 2008, and 2008 R2). Since it is marked as a beta release, we are looking for bug reports in the next few months as you use BIDS Helper on real projects.   • Oracle BPM and Open Data integration development

    Rapidly developing Oracle BPM application solutions with data source integration previously required significant Java and JDeveloper skills. Now using open source tools for open data development significantly reduces the coding needed.  Key tasks can be performed with visual drag and drop designing combined with menu selections entry and automatic form generation directly from XSD schema definitions. The architecture used is extremely lightweight, portable, open platform and scalable allowing integration with a variety of Oracle and non-Oracle data sources and systems. Two videos available on YouTube walk through the process at both an introductory conceptual level and then a deep dive into the programming needed using JDeveloper, Oracle BPM composer and Oracle WLS (WebLogic Server) along with the CAM editor and Open-XDX open source tools. Also available are coding samples and resources from the GitHub project page, along with working online demonstration resources on the VerifyXML site. Combining Oracle BPM with these open source tools provides a comprehensive simple and elegant solution set. Development times are slashed and rapid prototyping is enabled. Also existing data sources can be integrated using open data formats with either XML or JSON along with CRUD accessing via the Open-XDX Java component. The Open-XDX tool is a code-free approach where data mapping is configured as templates using visual drag and drop in the CAM Editor open source tool.  XML or JSON is then automatically generated or processed (output or input) and appropriate SQL statements created to support the data accessing.   Also included is the ability to integrate with fillable PDF forms via the XML templates and the Java PDF form filling library.  Again minimal Java coding is needed to associate the XML source content with the PDF named fields.  The Oracle BPM forms can be automatically generated from XSD schema definitions that are built from the data mapping templates.  This dramatically simplifies development work as all the integration artifacts needed are created by the open source editor toolset. The developer level video is designed as a tutorial with segments, hands-on demonstrations and reviews.  This allows developers to learn the techniques and approaches used in incremental steps. The intended audience ranges from data analysts to developers and assumes only entry level Java skills and knowledge.  Most actions are menu driven while Java coding is limited to simply configuring values and parameters along with performing builds and deployments from JDeveloper and Oracle WLS.   Additional existing Oracle online training resources can be referenced on Oracle BPM and WLS that cover other normal delivery aspects such as user management and application deployment.

    Where there is VPN to remote server and then access to the database via local network interface, how can one establish a remote link between one's computer (with a programme such as Visual Studio 2010) and SQL Server (e.g. 2008 R2) ? Any attempts to create a direct link to the SQL Server are blocked. Whilst the SQL Server can be configured to allow external access, this provides its own host of problems.
