• Vbscript / webcam. using flash API - Save streaming file as image

  Hi. Based on a php app we've tried to developp our own webapp in vbscript. All is working well. The camera starts, etc.. The problem we're left with is the following: the flash API is streaming the content of the video to a webpage, this page saves the photo as a jpg. • Getting a NullPointerException at seemingly random intervals, not sure why

  I'm running an example from a Kinect library for Processing (http://www.shiffman.net/2010/11/14/kinect-and-processing/) and sometimes get a NullPointerException pointing to this line: int rawDepth = depth[offset]; The depth array is created in this line: int[] depth = kinect.getRawDepth(); I'm not exactly sure what a NullPointerException is, and much googling hasn't really helped. It seems odd to me that the code compiles 70% of the time and returns the error unpredictably. Could the hardware itself be affecting it? • Thoughts/Input about Database Design for a CMS

  I'm just about to expand the functionality of our own CMS but was thinking of restructuring the database to make it simpler to add/edit data types and values. Currently, the CMS is quite flat - the CMS requires a field in the database for every type of stored value (manually created). The first option that comes to mind is simply a table which keeps the data types (ie: Address 1, Suburb, Email Address etc) and another table which holds values for each of these data types. Just like how Wordpress keeps values in the 'options' table, PHP serialize would be used to store an array of values. The second option is how Drupal works, the CMS creates tables for every data type. Unlike Wordpress, this can be a bit of an overkill but really useful for SQL queries when ordering and grouping by a particular value. What's everyone's thoughts?

  I have a database with Points of Interest that all have an address. I want to know what is the method/name/call to get all nearby POIs from a given position. I understand that I need to convert all my addresses to LAT / LON coordinates at least, but my question is: for a given LAT / LONG how do I get from the database/array what POIs are nearby by distance, for example: You are here 0,0 nearest POIs in a 2km radius are: POI A (at 1.1 Km) POI C (at 1.3 Km) POI F (at 1.9 Km) I have no idea what should I look into to get what I want :-( Any help is greatly appreciated.   How can a list of vectors be elegantly normalized, in NumPy? Here is an example that does not work: from numpy import * vectors = array([arange(10), arange(10)]) # All x's, then all y's norms = apply_along_axis(linalg.norm, 0, vectors) # Now, what I was expecting would work: print vectors.T / norms # vectors.T has 10 elements, as does norms, but this does not work The last operation yields "shape mismatch: objects cannot be broadcast to a single shape". How can the normalization of the 2D vectors in vectors be elegantly done, with NumPy? Edit: Why does the above not work while adding a dimension to norms does work (as per my answer below)?

• How do I determine if a packet is RTP/RTCP?

  I am using SharpPCap which is built on WinPCap to capture UDP traffic. My end goal is to capture the audio data from H.323 and save those phone conversations as WAV files. But first thing is first - I need to figure out what my UDP packets are crossing the NIC. SharpPCap provides a UdpPacket class that gives me access to the PayloadData of the message. But I am unsure what do with this data. It's a Byte[] array and I don't know how to go about determining if it's an RTP or RTCP packet. I've Googled this topic but there isn't much out there. Any help is appreciated.

The way I read the documentation, it sounded like the parameter would be available, have I misunderstood something?   I'm having difficulties finding out how to implement a 'configurable' behavior in a factory class in PHP. I've got at class, which takes another class as an argument in its constructor. The argument class could take a number of arguments in its constructor. An instance of my main class could look something like this $instance = new MyClass(new OtherClass(20, true)); $instance2 = new MyClass(new DifferentClass('test')); This is rather clumsy and has a number of problems and therefore I would like to move this into a factory class. The problem is that this factory somehow needs to know how to instantiate the argument class, as this class can have any number of arguments in the constructor. Preferably I would like to be able to do something like this $instance = Factory::build('OtherClass'); $instance2 = Factory::build('DifferentClass'); And let the factory retrieve the arguments from a configuration array or similar. Is there a proper solution to this problem?

• Why is the event object different coming from jquery bind vs. addEventListener

  Why is it when I use the jQuery bind the event object I get back is different from the event object I get back using addEventListener? The event object resulting from this jQuery bind does not have the targetTouches array (among other things) but the event from the addEventListener does. • Replacing backslash with another symbol in PHP

  Hi there, Been struggling with replacing a backslash by another symbol such as '.-.' just to indicate the position of backslashes as I could not send a string such as 'C\xampp\etc.' through url as GET variable so I thought I'd first replace the backslashes in that string by another symbol, then send through url, and then replace them back to backslashes in the PHP file that handles it. Though would there be a better way to send such strings through url? Because when I try a script such as: $tmp_name = preg_replace("\", ".-.", $_FILES['uploadfile']['tmp_name']); It turns out into a php error as \ is also used as delimiter.. Could anyone help me out on this? Thanks in advanced! Btw, if I'd be able to send a full array through url, this whole problem would be solved, but I don't think it's possible?

  I'm trying to use this excellent example to implement dropping virtual files into Windows Explorer. However, I'm stymied by this error. Towards the bottom, inside void System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.IDataObject.GetData(ref System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.FORMATETC formatetc, out System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.STGMEDIUM medium) on the first call to ((System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.IDataObject)this).GetDataHere(ref formatetc, ref medium); I'm getting back a DV_E_FORMATETC error. As far as I can tell, all the elements of the FORMATETC struct that are being passed in are valid: cfFormat is "Shell IDList Array" (-16141), ptd is 0, dwAspect is DVASPECT_CONTENT, lindex is -1, and tymed is TYMED_HGLOBAL. I'm kind of confused how there'd be a problem anyway, since this was generated by explorer. I know very little about COM interaction, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I can use the following to group results, but it only returns one result per group. @results = Model.search params[:search_query], :group_by => 'created_at', :group_function => :day, :page => params[:page], :per_page => 50 So, if I display the results by day, I only get one result per day. <% @results.each_with_groupby do |result, group| %> <div class="group"><%= group %></div> <ul class="result"> <li><%= result.name %></li> </ul> <% end %> Do I have to parse the @results array and group them by date manually or am I missing something? • JSON in an AJAX request

  I have a PHP API I'm working with that outputs everything as JSON. I need to call one of the API methods and parse it out using an AJAX request. I am using jQuery (though it shouldn't matter). When I make the request it errors out with a "parsererror" as the textStatus and a "Syntax Error: invalid label" when I make the request. • Read only particular fields from CSV File in vb.net

  Hi, I have this code to read a CVS file. It reads each line, devides each line by delimiter ',' and stored the field values in array 'strline()' . How do I extract only required fields from the CSV file? For example if I have a CSV File like Type,Group,No,Sequence No,Row No,Date (newline) 0,Admin,3,345678,1,26052010 (newline) 1,Staff,5,78654,3,26052010 I Need only the value of columns Group,Sequence No and date. Thanks in advance for any ideas. • Problem searching a NSMutableArray

  Basically, I have a UISearchBar searching an NSMutableArray of stories that make up an RSS feed, and when you select a story, it loads in my app's UIWebView. It's difficult to explain, but I have a list of entries 1, 2, 3, and 4 and you search for '4'. 4 will be the first entry in the now-filtered list of data, right? You'd think that by selecting 4, it would load in the UIWebView. Well, the app seems to not recognize that you're selecting the first entry in a filtered list of data, and instead thinks that you're selecting the first entry in the unfiltered array of data, so it loads entry 1. Everything looks right in my code, but obviously it isn't. I know it's a confusing problem, but I hope I made it somewhat clear. • Help needed with Javascript Variable Scope / OOP and Call Back Functions

  I think this issue goes beyond typical variable scope and closure stuff, or maybe I'm an idiot. Here goes anyway... I'm creating a bunch of objects on the fly in a jQuery plugin. The object look something like this function WedgePath(canvas){ this.targetCanvas = canvas; this.label; this.logLabel = function(){ console.log(this.label) } } the jQuery plugin looks something like this (function($) { $.fn.myPlugin = function() { return $(this).each(function() { // Create Wedge Objects for(var i = 1; i <= 30; i++){ var newWedge = new WedgePath(canvas); newWedge.label = "my_wedge_"+i; globalFunction(i, newWedge]); } }); } })(jQuery); So... the plugin creates a bunch of wedgeObjects, then calls 'globalFunction' for each one, passing in the latest WedgePath instance. Global function looks like this. function globalFunction(indicator_id, pWedge){ var targetWedge = pWedge; targetWedge.logLabel(); } What happens next is that the console logs each wedges label correctly. However, I need a bit more complexity inside globalFunction. So it actually looks like this... function globalFunction(indicator_id, pWedge){ var targetWedge = pWedge; someSql = "SELECT * FROM myTable WHERE id = ?"; dbInterface.executeSql(someSql, [indicator_id], function(transaction, result){ targetWedge.logLabel(); }) } There's a lot going on here so i'll explain. I'm using client side database storage (WebSQL i call it). 'dbInterface' an instance of a simple javascript object I created which handles the basics of interacting with a client side database [shown at the end of this question]. the executeSql method takes up to 4 arguments The SQL String an optional arguments array an optional onSuccess handler an optional onError handler (not used in this example) What I need to happen is: When the WebSQL query has completed, it takes some of that data and manipulates some attribute of a particular wedge. But, when I call 'logLabel' on an instance of WedgePath inside the onSuccess handler, I get the label of the very last instance of WedgePath that was created way back in the plugin code. Now I suspect that the problem lies in the var newWedge = new WedgePath(canvas); line. So I tried pushing each newWedge into an array, which I thought would prevent that line from replacing or overwriting the WedgePath instance at every iteration... wedgeArray = []; // Inside the plugin... for(var i = 1; i <= 30; i++){ var newWedge = new WedgePath(canvas); newWedge.label = "my_wedge_"+i; wedgeArray.push(newWedge); } for(var i = 0; i < wedgeArray.length; i++){ wedgeArray[i].logLabel() } But again, I get the last instance of WedgePath to be created. This is driving me nuts. I apologise for the length of the question but I wanted to be as clear as possible. • Interpretation of Greek characters by FOP

  Hi, Can you please help me interpret the Greek Characters with HTML display as HTML= & #8062; and Hex value 01F7E Details of these characters can be found on the below URL http://www.isthisthingon.org/unicode/index.php?page=01&subpage=F&hilite=01F7E When I run this character in Apache FOP, they give me an ArrayIndexOut of Bounds Exception Caused by: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: -1 at org.apache.fop.text.linebreak.LineBreakUtils.getLineBreakPairProperty(LineBreakUtils.java:668) at org.apache.fop.text.linebreak.LineBreakStatus.nextChar(LineBreakStatus.java:117) When I looked into the FOP Code, I was unable to understand the need for lineBreakProperties[][] Array in LineBreakUtils.java. I also noticed that FOP fails for all the Greek characters mentioned on the above page which are non-displayable with the similar error. What are these special characters ? Why is their no display for these characters are these Line Breaks or TAB’s ? Has anyone solved a similar issue with FOP ?

• Binding output of Custom Activity designer to activity argument

  I am trying to add a custom activity designer for an activity that I have. The activity looks a little like: public class WaitForUserInputActvitiy : NativeActivity { public InArgument<UserInteractionProperty[]> UserInteraction { get; set; } } I am trying to put a designer on the activity to make it a bit nicer to set these values (so you don't end up typing VB in directly. My designer is based on mindscape property grid. I have an ObservableDictionary source that I want to get the values from and put them in to the InArgument. So how do I convert my array of UserInteractionProperties into an InArgument?

• Output to jTextArea in realtime

  I have some code which takes a few minutes to process, it has to connect to the web for each string in a long array, each string is a url. • Make object available within php functions without passing them or making them global

I'm building a template system and I really would just like an object variable to simply be there in all functions.
