• Variable won't store in session

  So I'm trying to store the "rank" of a user when they log in to a control panel which displays different options depending on the given rank. I used the same method as I did for storing and displaying the username, which is displayed on the top of each page and works just fine. I can't for the life of me figure out why it won't work for the rank value, but I do know that it is not saving it in the session. • jQuery toggle() with unknown initial state

  I have a project that I am working on that uses a little image to mark a record as a favorite on multiple rows in a table. The data gets pulled from a DB and the image is based on whether or not that item is a favorite. One image for a favorite, a different image if not a favorite. I want the user to be able to toggle the image and make it a favorite or not. But you have to double click to get the image to change if it IS a favorite initially. This causes the AJAX to fire twice and essentially make it a favorite then not a favorite before the image responds. The user thinks he's made it a favorite because the image changed, but in fact, it's not. Help anybody?

• C# Function Inheritance--Use Child Class Vars with Base Class Function

  Good day, I have a fairly simple question to experienced C# programmers. Basically, I would like to have an abstract base class that contains a function that relies on the values of child classes. I have tried code similar to the following, but the compiler complains that SomeVariable is null when SomeFunction() attempts to use it. Base class: public abstract class BaseClass { protected virtual SomeType SomeVariable; public BaseClass() { this.SomeFunction(); } protected void SomeFunction() { //DO SOMETHING WITH SomeVariable } } A child class: public class ChildClass:BaseClass { protected override SomeType SomeVariable=SomeValue; } Now I would expect that when I do: ChildClass CC=new ChildClass(); A new instance of ChildClass should be made and CC would run its inherited SomeFunction using SomeValue. However, this is not what happens. The compiler complains that SomeVariable is null in BaseClass. Is what I want to do even possible in C#? I have used other managed languages that allow me to do such things, so I certain I am just making a simple mistake here. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

• ggplot: showing % instead of counts in charts of categorical variables

  I'm plotting a categorical variable and instead of showing the counts for each category value, I'm looking for a way to get ggplot to display the percentage of values in that category. Of course, it is possible to create another variable with the calculated percentage and plot that one, but I have to do it several dozens of times and I hope to achieve that in one command. I was experimenting with something like qplot (mydataf) + stat_bin(aes(n=nrow(mydataf), y=..count../n)) + scale_y_continuous(formatter="percent") but I must be using it incorrectly, as I got errors. To easily reproduce the setup, here's a simplified example: mydata <- c ("aa", "bb", null, "bb", "cc", "aa", "aa", "aa", "ee", null, "cc"); mydataf <- factor(mydata); qplot (mydataf); #this shows the count, I'm looking to see % displayed. In the real case I'll probably use ggplot instead of qplot, but the right way to use stat_bin still eludes me. Thank you. UPDATE: I've also tried these four approaches: ggplot(mydataf, aes(y = (..count..)/sum(..count..))) + scale_y_continuous(formatter = 'percent'); ggplot(mydataf, aes(y = (..count..)/sum(..count..))) + scale_y_continuous(formatter = 'percent') + geom_bar(); ggplot(mydataf, aes(x = levels(mydataf), y = (..count..)/sum(..count..))) + scale_y_continuous(formatter = 'percent'); ggplot(mydataf, aes(x = levels(mydataf), y = (..count..)/sum(..count..))) + scale_y_continuous(formatter = 'percent') + geom_bar(); but all 4 give: Error: ggplot2 doesn't know how to deal with data of class factor The same error appears for the simple case of ggplot (data=mydataf, aes(levels(mydataf))) + geom_bar() so it's clearly something about how ggplot interacts with a single vector. I'm scratching my head, googling for that error gives a single result.

• Access to and availability of private member functions in C++

  I am wandering the desert of my brain. In my header file, I have declared 'string LookUpOutcome(int key);' in the private section of the class. I have tried all sorts of variations. I tried to use 'this' for a little while, and it gave me 'Can only use this in non-static member function.' Sadly, I haven't declared anything static and these are all, putatively, member functions. I tried it [on TakeAnAction and LookUp] when I got the error, but I got something like, 'Can't access MyPrivateMap from LookUp'. MyPrivateMap could be made public and I could refer to it directly, I guess, but my sensibility says that is not the right way to go about this [that means that namespace scoped helper functions are out, I think]. I also guess I could just inline the lookup and subsequent other stuff, but my line-o-meter goes on tilt. I'm trying desperately not to kludge it.

• PHP - Patterns within Arrays

  I am trying to create a function which maps a recurring pattern of integers using an array. As an example if I have a starting array of (0,1,3) and I know that I want to stop the pattern when I hit 15. The pattern gets incremented by a fixed integer each time (lets say 4) so my final pattern should be.. 0 1 3 4 (0 + 4) 5 (1 + 4) 7 (2 + 4) 8 (4 + 4) 9 (5 + 4) 11(7 + 4) 12(8 + 4) 13(9 + 4) 15(11+ 4) Does anyone have any pointers on how this can be achieved?   I'm trying to get my FEDORA12 to have an STATIC IP - inside virtualbox - inside Ubuntu Let me rephrase that. I have an Ubuntu 9.04 system with vitualbox and a FEDORA12 vm there and I would like to put the fedora with an STATIC IP (amahi needs it), but I'm getting stuck... I'm using NAT (if that's any help) I tryid a few tutorials, but no go. • Too many connections to 212.192.255.240

  Recently, my Internet slowed down drastically. I downloaded a tool to see the TCP/IP connections from my Vista computer. I found out that a lot TCP/IP connections are being connected to 212.192.255.240 through SVCHost. It seems that it is trying to connect to different ports. I think that my computer is being infected with some kind of malware etc. But I am not sure how to get rid of it. I did a little bit of research on this IP but found nothing. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. UPDATE: This is the HiJackThis log file and I can't find any thing weird. Also, the program is also trying to create connections to 91.205.127.63, which is also from Russia. • Install Ubuntu 12.04 in UEFI mode on a HP Pavilion dv6-6c40ca

  I have recently (as of July 2012) bought a HP Pavilion dv6-6c40ca laptop. It came pre-installed with Windows 7 on an MBR. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on it on a GPT partition in what I think is BIOS emulation mode. I made a BIOS-Grub partition so the install didn't fail. That is what it is for .. right? Now I want to upgrade to UEFI mode. How would I Install Ubuntu 12.04 in UEFI mode on a HP Pavilion dv6-6c40ca. Or is it impossible? My laptop, despite its new age may not be UEFI 2.0+ capable. If it isn't how can I install a software UEFI (i.e. a DUET such as the one by tianocore). Or is this too impossible? I have partitioned the drive using GParted as a GPT drive. Created a 200MB partition at the beginning of the drive with a FAT32 file system. Given the 200MB partition a label of "EFI". Set the boot flag on the 200MB partition. What should a do next to install Ubuntu 12.04? I am able to contact the puppet master and send a CSR. I sign it using puppetca -sa but the client will still not connect. • nginx proxypath https redirect fails without trailing slash

  I'm trying to setup Nginx to forward requests to several backend services using proxy_pass. The links on the pages that lack trailing slashes do have https:// in front, but get redirected to a http request with a trailing slash - which ends in connection refused - I only want these services to be available through https.   I'm trying to config archlinux to use my wireless network adapter. It's quite troublesome. From what I've gathered, it's an atheros network adapter, using the ath5k driver/module... I can't get it to work; any ideas? • phpmyadmin login should not expire on ubuntu 10.04

  On ubuntu 10.04 the phpmyadmin config is a little bit scattered. I want to set the loginexpiration time to zero, should never expire, this is a secured setup behind a firewall. I think it is 3600 by default but cannot find the setting. Where is it? Edit: I actually changed it in /etc/phpmyadmin/conf.inc.php which seems the recommended place for ubuntu. The other files mentioned below might be overwritten on updates.
