  • bypass IIS xml file settings at file/folder level

    Hi, Our site is currently set to pass all files with the xml file extension through the asp.net worker process because all the xml files on the site at the moment are generated dynamically on being hit, by writing the output directly into the response stream. However we now have a requirement to add a file which is much larger and takes several minutes to generate in this way. I wrote a console app to generate the file and set it to run nightly, but because of the global IIS setting directing xml files to run through asp_wp, it's not being served properly. I can't seem to find a way to make an exemption for the treatment of a single file in the IIS settings. Is there any other way we can do it? Cheers, Matt

  • IE 6 bug? width: 987

    I'm having a very weird issue in IE6. If I set a div container do the width of 987px it adds a spacing between the container and an absolute positioned element inside. Any other width works fine, it's just 987. Is there something I'm not seeing?   • Is IE Collection reliable tool for testing with various versions of Internet Explorer?

    On my Windows machine -- I typically test different versions of Internet Explorer using an array of Virtual Machine instances (which obviously requires a fair amount of investment in time and money). In a pinch I have also used IETester -- which at times can be a little unreliable. However, I just discovered IE Collection and was wondering if people have used it -- and can I rely on it for web page testing purposes? Would love to know what you think.

    Hi, I have 3 classes A,B,C . Class A creates B .. class B creates class C. Class C raises events after some action/operation with some data, which is handled by event handler in Class B. Now I want to be handle or pass the same raised event data to Class A. I know i can raise another event from class B and handle it in A but is there a better way of handling such events?? Thx

  • What's the best way to do cross browser testing?

    What's the best way for me to check if my website is compatible in IE7,8, Safari, FF, and Chrome without having to install each and everyone? I mainly want to check the CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. Update I put a bounty in hopes there is a more practical solution for someone like myself. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Update2 I don't mind installing these browsers now, but I can't even if I wanted to. Windows 7 doesn't allow me to install IE7.

  • Multi-level clones with Git?

    So, I'm thinking of having the following centralized setup with Git (each of these are clones): stable development developer1 developer2 developer3 So, I created my stable repository git --bare init made the 'development' clone git clone ssh://host.name//path/to/stable/project.git development and made a 'developer' clone git clone ssh://host.name//path/to/development/project.git developer So, now, I make a change, commit, and then I push from my developer account git commit --all git push and the change goes to the development clone. But now, when I ssh to the server, go to the development clone directory, and run "git fetch" or "get pull", I don't see the changes. So what do I do? Am I totally misunderstanding things and doing things wrong? How can I see the changes in the 'development' clone that I pushed from my 'developer' clone? This worked fine in Mercurial.

  • Access 2007 & 2003 : Creating an mde for 2003 users with a 2007 dev copy issues

    So i have an image on my computer that has office 2007, and I have the development copy of this database file where I corrected some code, added some fields, etc... I then converted the Access file (.mdb dev file) to Access 2002-2003 format to create an mde. So I then created the new mde, but when users try to open, it gives them the message that it is not the correct format and that they should upgrade to a newer version of access. So will i be able to get this done with having office 2007, and these other end users not having their new image pushed yet (so they still have office 2003)? I thought that if I converted the file to 2002-2003 then this should not be a problem Thanks Justin

    I'm interested in T-SQL source code for synchronizing a table (or perhaps a subset of it) with data from another similar table. I'd like to be able to check that the two tables have matching columns: the source table has exactly the same columns as the base table and the datatypes match make a diff from the base table to the source table do the necessary updates, deletes and inserts to change the data in the base table to correspond the source table optionally limit the diff to a subset of the base table, preferrably with a stored procedure. Has anyone written a stored proc for this or could you point to a source?

  • Entry Level Programming Jobs with Applied Math Degree

    I am about to finish my B.Sc. in Applied Math. I started out in CS a few years back had a bit of a change of heart and decided to go the math route. Now that I am looking for career options finishing up and I'm just wonder how my Applied Math degree will look when applying for programming jobs. I have taken CS courses in C++/Java/C and done 2 semester of Scientific Computing with MATLAB/Mathematica and the like, so I feel like i at least know how to program. Of course I am lacking some of the theoretical courses on the CS. I'd very much like to know how I stack up for a programming job as a math major. Thanks.

  • Perform Grouping of Resultsets in Code, not on Database Level

    Stackoverflowers, I have a resultset from a SQL query in the form of: Category Column2 Column3 A 2 3.50 A 3 2 B 3 2 B 1 5 ... I need to group the resultset based on the Category column and sum the values for Column2 and Column3. I have to do it in code because I cannot perform the grouping in the SQL query that gets the data due to the complexity of the query (long story). This grouped data will then be displayed in a table. I have it working for specific set of values in the Category column, but I would like a solution that would handle any possible values that appear in the Category column. I know there has to be a straightforward, efficient way to do it but I cannot wrap my head around it right now. How would you accomplish it? EDIT I have attempted to group the result in SQL using the exact same grouping query suggested by Thomas Levesque and both times our entire RDBMS crashed trying to process the query. I was under the impression that Linq was not available until .NET 3.5. This is a .NET 2.0 web application so I did not think it was an option. Am I wrong in thinking that? EDIT Starting a bounty because I believe this would be a good technique to have in the toolbox to use no matter where the different resultsets are coming from. I believe knowing the most concise way to group any 2 somewhat similar sets of data in code (without .NET LINQ) would be beneficial to more people than just me.

  • Changing API level Android Studio

    I want to change the minimum SDK version in Android Studio from API 12 to API 14. I have tried changing it in the manifest file, i.e., <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="14" android:targetSdkVersion="18" /> and rebuilding the project, but I still get the Android Studio IDE throwing up some errors. I presume I have to set the min SDK in 'project properties' or something similar so the IDE recognises the change, but I can't find where this is done in Android Studio. Pointers greatly appreciated. Thnx.

    Hi all, I am using a tree to display my data: persons grouped by their teams. In my model a team can contain another team, so the recursion. I want do display details about the selected node of the tree using a contentpresenter. If the selection is a person, everything is fine: I can show the person name or datails without problem using a simple datatemplate. If the selection is a team I would like to display the team name followed by a list of member names. If one of these members is another team I would like to display just the team name, without recursion... My code here is wrong because it displays data in a recursive way, what is the right way of doing it?   • Dropdown in PHP

    Hi, I am using PHP 5.2 on SUN OS server. Having problems with the following piece of code that for a drop down: echo '<form action="" method="get">'; echo '<p>Information:<br />'; echo '<select name="acctno" style="width: 100px;">'; foreach ($this->account_names as $acctno => $acctname) { echo '<option value="'.$acctno.'">'.$acctname.'</option>'; } echo '</select> <input type="submit" value="view" />'; echo '</form>'; Worked perfectly fine on Firefox and Chrome; however there is a problem with Internet Explorer. In IE the dropdown width is limited to the size i.e 100px. So only the first 15-16 characters of the account name are displayed all the time. However in chrome or firefox, even if only 15-16 characters are displayed initially, when the drop down arrow is clicked upon, it show the entire name (however long it may be). This does not happen with IE. So if the account name is, lets say, "1223456789abcdefghijkl" then: For IE: shows only "123456789" all the time Ffor chrome or firefox: shows "123456789" and when it is dropped down it show the full name as "123456789abcdefghijkl".   • Why does the jQuery on this page work for Internet Explorer 8, but nothing else?

    I made a web page that uses jQuery: http://benmccormack.com/demo/MichaelMassPsalm/Psalm16Mode5.html When you change the selection in the combo box from Higher Key to Lower Key, all of the music images are supposed to change their source to be images that represent the lower key signature. This works great in IE8, but it won't work in Safari, Firefox, or Chrome. Why not?   • Libtool versioning of a library that depends on other libraries.

    Hello, I have a framework that uses Boost and CgiCC in the core application and in its interface. How should I version the library binary interface (a.k.a. libtool -version-info)? I have no problems tracking the changes in library itself when I make various changes. As it is clear for me how should I version. But... Both Boost and CgiCC libraries do not provide any backward compatible API/ABI and my library may be linked with quite arbitrary versions Boost and CgiCC so I can't provide any promise about the interfaces, so I can't really specify -version-info because even the same library compiled against different versions of Boost and CgiCC would not be compatible. So... What should I do? How should I version library? I know that I should not depend on Boost and CgiCC interfaces in first place, but this is what I get so far for existing stable version. This issue is addressed in next major release but I still have and want to maintain current release as it is very valuable.
