  • Hiding tables that have no data to display.

    - by Kinyanjui Kamau
    Hi Guys, I have this css styling and was wondering what I need to change in order to collapse/hide html tables that are empty. The style: <style> #search_settings { position:relative; height:25px; width:500px; } #users_table_results { border-collapse:separate; empty-cells:hide; } #events_table_results { border-collapse:separate; empty-cells:hide; } #establishments_table_results { border-collapse:separate; empty-cells:hide; } </style> My HTML: <div id="search_settings"> <table width="500" border="0"> <tr> <td height="20" class="heading_text_18">Search results</td> </tr> </table> <table id="users_table_results" max-width="500" name="users" border="0"> <tr> <td width="50" height="50"><a href="#profile.php"><img src="Images/<?php echo $row_result_users['picture_thumb_url']; ?>" border="0" height="50" width="50"/></a></td> <td width="150" class="ordinary_text_12"><?php echo $row_result_users['user_first_name']; ?></td> <td width="150" class="ordinary_text_12"><?php echo $row_result_users['user_last_name']; ?></td> <td width="150" class="ordinary_text_12"><?php echo $row_result_users['username']; ?></td> </tr> </table> <table id="events_table_results" width="500" name="events" border="0"> <tr> <td width="50" height="50"><a href="#profile.php"><img src="Images/<?php echo $row_event['event_thumb_url']; ?>" border="0" height="50" width="50"/></a></td> <td width="150" class="ordinary_text_12"><?php echo $row_event['event_name']; ?></td> <td width="150" class="ordinary_text_12"><?php echo $row_event['event_venue']; ?></td> <td width="150" class="ordinary_text_12"><?php echo $row_event['event_date']; ?></td> </tr> </table> <table id="establishments_table_results" width="500" name="establishments" border="0"> <tr> <td width="50" height="50"><a href="#profile.php"><img src="Establishment_Images/<?php echo $row_establishment['establishment_thumb_url']; ?>" border="0" height="50" width="50"/></a></td> <td width="150" class="ordinary_text_12"><?php echo $row_establishment['establishment_name']; ?></td> <td width="150" class="ordinary_text_12"><?php echo $row_establishment['location_name']; ?></td> <td width="150" class="ordinary_text_12"><?php echo $row_establishment['establishment_pricing']; ?></td> </tr> </table> </div> I would want it such that if there are no results for my events table, the table does not show(there is no blank space between search results where event results should be because border=0). Can you hide entire tables?

  • Android - Unity3D: setVisibility(View.VISIBLE) crashes

    - by Kazoeja
    I have a unity project and I use a Android (java) plugin to get camera data. I draw this on a TextureView. I want to hide/show this view when I press a button in unity. But my app crashes when I setVisibility onCreate UnityPlayer.currentActivity.addContentView(texView, new FrameLayout.LayoutParams(400, 400)); java: public void HideVideo() { //Hide view _TextureView.setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE); } Is there an extra function I need to call, or may I only call it on certain times? None of these thins work, they all make my app crash. _TextureView.setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE); _TextureView.setActivated(false); _TextureView.setAlpha(0); _TextureView.setTranslationY(-1000);

  • if statement to check available elements

    - by nicmare
    Hi there, i allways found an answer here just be reading the threads but now its time for my very first thread because i was unable to find related questions: this is my target code: <li> <span class="panel"> <a href="…" class="image" rel="group"> <img title="…" src="…" alt="…" width="128" height="96" /> </a> <span class="sizes"> <span class="button"> <a href="#" class="size1" rel="…" title="1">9x13</a> </span> <span class="button"> <a href="#" class="size2" rel="…" title="3">10x15</a> </span> <span class="button"> <a href="#" class="size3" rel="…" title="6">20x30</a> </span> </span> </span> <a href="…" class="image" rel="group"> <span class="added"></span> <img title="…" src="…" alt="…" width="128" height="96" class="thumbnail" /> </a> </li> i add two "span" elements through jquery: $('.sizes a').click( function (e) { e.preventDefault(); $(this).after("<span class='checked'></span><span class='remove'></span>"); } ); the maximum amount of those s are 3 times in a wrapped div. so i am trying to do is the following: $(".remove").live('click', function(){ $(this).hide(); $(this).prev().hide(); // hide checked span if ($(this).parent().parent().children().children().each().hasClass('checked')) { $(this).parent().parent().parent().next().children(".added").hide(); } } ); of course my if statement is crap. i try it in my own words: if there are more than one span(class=remove) in span(class=panel) then nothing should happen. but if there is just one span(class=remove) left in span(class=panel) THEN should be hidden how do i achieve this? there is an online demonstration of this: http://bit.ly/972be4 as you can see, every time when i hit a button below an image, the image gets marked by a label. and i want to hide this label (class=added) when no button is selected Thank you very much! best wishes from germany

  • Dealing with Fanboys

    - by jozefg
    We've all probably met someone like this, that developer who just knows that his language is the one true language and won't shut up about it. How do you deal like someone like this? I don't want to offend anyone (especially since the fanboy in my workplace is the senior developer). But I want to be able to use my own choice of scripting language when I have to write a throwaway script that never makes it to the repository and no one else need know existed. Thoughts that I had to dealing with this: Laugh it off - "Haha yeah maybe language X is a bit easier, I guess I'm a masochist!" Go with it - I'd really prefer to avoid this as I can't afford the drop in productivity associated with picking up a new language. Hide my language - Become a closet programmer and hide my monitor whenever I'm scripting or automating something. What would you suggest for this situation?

  • ScriptManager ServiceReference loading animation

    - by TesterTurnedDeveloper
    I'm using a ScriptManager / ServiceReference to call as ASMX from client side code, just like the Calling Web Services from Client Script in ASP.NET AJAX example. Is there an easy way to show/hide a loading animation when I'm fetching data from the web service? I could show it when I call the service, and hide it in the callback. Is there an event I can attach to? I like the way JQuery has Ajax events for this sort of thing.

  • Disable Ribbon Button

    - by Raghu
    I want to disable and NOT hide a ribbon button (specifically Ribbon.ListItem.New.NewListItem) on a particular List type. On web I could find a lot many posts showing me ways to remove/hide buttons but none really worthwhile which could tell me how can I just disable an alrteady existing sharepoint button in my custom List type. e.g. Following code does remove the button instead of hiding. Id="RemoveRibbonButton" RegistrationType="List" RegistrationId="213908" Location="CommandUI.Ribbon"

  • jQuery: Get height of hidden element in jQuery 1.4.2

    - by mkoryak
    I need to get height of an element that is within a div that is hidden. Right now I show the div, get the height, and hide the parent div. This seems a bit silly. Is there a better way? I'm using jQuery 1.4.2: $select.show(); optionHeight = $firstOption.height(); //we can only get height if its visible $select.hide();

  • Trying to randomise a jQuery content slider

    - by alecrust
    Hi everyone, I'm using a very nice jQuery content slider called Easy Slider on my site that I downloaded from Css Globe. The script is excellent and does just what I want - except I can't make it randomise the list, it always scrolls from left to right or right to left! I'm far from good with JavaScript, so my attempts at solving this have been feeble. Although I'm sure it must be an easy fix! If anyone wouldn't mind taking a glance over the script to see if they can spot what I need to change to make it random it would be greatly appreciated! I've tried contacting the original plugin developer but have had no response yet. The comments on the Easy Slider page didn't bear much fruit either unfortunately. I've pasted the script I'm using on my site below: /* * Easy Slider 1.7 - jQuery plugin * written by Alen Grakalic * http://cssglobe.com/post/4004/easy-slider-15-the-easiest-jquery-plugin-for-sliding * * Copyright (c) 2009 Alen Grakalic (http://cssglobe.com) * Dual licensed under the MIT (MIT-LICENSE.txt) * and GPL (GPL-LICENSE.txt) licenses. * * Built for jQuery library * http://jquery.com * */ (function($) { $.fn.easySlider = function(options){ // default configuration properties var defaults = { prevId: 'prevBtn', prevText: 'Previous', nextId: 'nextBtn', nextText: 'Next', controlsShow: true, controlsBefore: '', controlsAfter: '', controlsFade: true, firstId: 'firstBtn', firstText: 'First', firstShow: false, lastId: 'lastBtn', lastText: 'Last', lastShow: false, vertical: false, speed: 800, auto: false, pause: 7000, continuous: false, numeric: false, numericId: 'controls' }; var options = $.extend(defaults, options); this.each(function() { var obj = $(this); var s = $("li", obj).length; var w = $("li", obj).width(); var h = $("li", obj).height(); var clickable = true; obj.width(w); obj.height(h); obj.css("overflow","hidden"); var ts = s-1; var t = 0; $("ul", obj).css('width',s*w); if(options.continuous){ $("ul", obj).prepend($("ul li:last-child", obj).clone().css("margin-left","-"+ w +"px")); $("ul", obj).append($("ul li:nth-child(2)", obj).clone()); $("ul", obj).css('width',(s+1)*w); }; if(!options.vertical) $("li", obj).css('float','left'); if(options.controlsShow){ var html = options.controlsBefore; if(options.numeric){ html += '<ol id="'+ options.numericId +'"></ol>'; } else { if(options.firstShow) html += '<span id="'+ options.firstId +'"><a href=\"javascript:void(0);\">'+ options.firstText +'</a></span>'; html += ' <span id="'+ options.prevId +'"><a href=\"javascript:void(0);\">'+ options.prevText +'</a></span>'; html += ' <span id="'+ options.nextId +'"><a href=\"javascript:void(0);\">'+ options.nextText +'</a></span>'; if(options.lastShow) html += ' <span id="'+ options.lastId +'"><a href=\"javascript:void(0);\">'+ options.lastText +'</a></span>'; }; html += options.controlsAfter; $(obj).after(html); }; if(options.numeric){ for(var i=0;i<s;i++){ $(document.createElement("li")) .attr('id',options.numericId + (i+1)) .html('<a rel='+ i +' href=\"javascript:void(0);\">'+ (i+1) +'</a>') .appendTo($("#"+ options.numericId)) .click(function(){ animate($("a",$(this)).attr('rel'),true); }); }; } else { $("a","#"+options.nextId).click(function(){ animate("next",true); }); $("a","#"+options.prevId).click(function(){ animate("prev",true); }); $("a","#"+options.firstId).click(function(){ animate("first",true); }); $("a","#"+options.lastId).click(function(){ animate("last",true); }); }; function setCurrent(i){ i = parseInt(i)+1; $("li", "#" + options.numericId).removeClass("current"); $("li#" + options.numericId + i).addClass("current"); }; function adjust(){ if(t>ts) t=0; if(t<0) t=ts; if(!options.vertical) { $("ul",obj).css("margin-left",(t*w*-1)); } else { $("ul",obj).css("margin-left",(t*h*-1)); } clickable = true; if(options.numeric) setCurrent(t); }; function animate(dir,clicked){ if (clickable){ clickable = false; var ot = t; switch(dir){ case "next": t = (ot>=ts) ?   • creating a JQuery function

    - by Russell Parrott
    Sorry to bother you guys & girls again on Christmas eve, but I need help creating a reusable JQuery function. I have "badly crafted" this set of code that all works. But I would really like to put it as a function so I don't have to keep repeating everything for each form. I am not too sure about how all the if statements can be combined etc. that is why I wrote it as it is. Any help much appreciated - Oh I suppose it could also be some kind of plugin but that might be the next step if I can understand how the function works. $(':input:visible').live('blur',function(){ if($(this).attr('required')) { if($(this).val() == '' ) { $(this).css({'background-color':'#FFEEEE' }); $(this).parent('form').children('input[type=submit]').hide(); $(this).next('.errormsg').html('OOPs ... '+$(this).prev('label').html()+' is required'); $(this).focus(); $(this).attr('placeholder').hide(); } else { $(this).css({'background-color':'#FFF' , 'border-color':'#999999'}); $(this).next('.errormsg').empty(); $(this).parent('form').children('input[type=submit]').show(); } } return false; }); $(':input[max]').live('blur',function(){ if($(this).attr('max') < parseInt($(this).val()) ){ $(this).next('.errormsg').html( 'OOPs ... the maximum value is '+$(this).attr('max') ); $(this).parent('form').children('input[type=submit]').hide(); $(this).focus(); } else {} return false; }); $(':input[min]').live('blur',function(){ if($(this).attr('min') > parseInt($(this).val()) ){ $(this).next('.errormsg').html( 'OOPs ... the minimum value is '+$(this).attr('min') ); $(this).parent('form').children('input[type=submit]').hide(); $(this).focus(); } else {} return false; }); $(':input[maxlength]').live('keyup',function(){ if($(this).val()==''){ } else { $(this).next('.errormsg').html( $(this).attr('maxlength')- $(this).val().length +' chars remaining'); } return false; }); As said, help much appreciated with one small (I hope) thing, how can I break out of any function IF there are no error messages to actually submit the form?

  • IE CSS bug: table border showing div with visibility: hidden, position: absolute

    - by Alessandro Vernet
    The issue I have a <div> on a page which is initially hidden with a visibility: hidden; position: absolute. The issue is that if a <div> hidden this way contains a table which uses border-collapse: collapse and has a border set on it cells, that border still shows "through" the hidden <div> on IE. Try this for yourself by running the code below on IE6 or IE7. You should get a white page, but instead you will see: Possible workaround Since this is happening on IE and not on other browsers, I assume that this is an IE bug. One workaround is to add the following code which will override the border: .hide table tr td { border: none; } I am wondering: Is this a known IE bug? Is there a more elegant solution/workaround? The code <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/> <style type="text/css"> /* Style for tables */ .table tr td { border: 1px solid gray; } .table { border-collapse: collapse; } /* Class used to hide a section */ .hide { visibility: hidden; position: absolute; } </style> </head> <body> <div class="hide"> <table class="table"> <tr> <td>Gaga</td> </tr> </table> </div> </body> </html>

  • How to find out if an object is of <type> or a decendant of <type>

    I have the following code: foreach (var control in this.Controls) { } I want to do something like control.Hide() in there. But the items in the this.Controls collection are not of type Control (they are Object). I can't seem to remember the safe way to cast this to call hide if it is really of type Control and do nothing otherwise. (I am a transplanted delphi programmer and I keep thinking something like control is Control.)

  • jQuery action being called when selector isn't met?

    - by dougoftheabaci
    I've been working on a prototype for a client's web site and I've run into a rather significant snag. You can view the prototype here. As you can see, the way it works is you can scroll a set of slides horizontally and, by clicking one, open a stack containing yet more slides. If you then click again on an image in that stack it opens up a lightbox. Clicking on another stack or the close button will close that stack (and open another, as case may be). That all works great. However you get some weird behavior if you do the following: Click to open any stack. Click to open an image's light box (this works best if you click on the image that's level with the main list). Close the light box and the stack either by clicking the close button or clicking on another stack. Click back to the first stack. Instead of reopening the stack, you get the lightbox. This confuses me as the light box should only ever be called if there is a class on the containing UL and that class is removed when the lightbox is closed. I've checked and double-checked this, it's definitely missing. Here are the respective functions: $("ul.hide a.lightbox").live("click",function(){ $("ul.show").removeClass("show").addClass("hide"); $(this).parent().parent().removeClass("hide").addClass("show"); $("ul.hide").animate({opacity: 0.2}); $("ul.show").animate({opacity: 1}); $("#next").animate({opacity: 0.2}); $("#prev").animate({opacity: 0.2}); return false; }); $("ul.show a.lightbox").live("click",function(){ $(this).fancybox().trigger("click"); return false; }); As you can see, in order for the lightbox to be called the containing UL has to have the class of show. However, if you check it with Firebug it won't. For those who are curious, the added .trigger("click"); is because the lightbox will require a double-click to launch otherwise. Any idea how I can fix this?
