  Hi, I have installed Windows Virtual PC 2007 on my Windows 2003 R2 Server. I have installed a virtual Windows XP. I have configured the virtual PC to use Shared Networking (NAT) I have disabled the firewall on the virtual windows XP The problem: I am unable to PING from Windows 2003 (the host) to the Windows XP (virtual) I do have normal traffic from the virtual to the internet Could this problem be related to routing? How I can I fix this network configuration to allow for the following traffic: 1. From Virtual to Internet 2. From Host to Virtual 3. If possible, from Internet to Virtual on pre-defined ports (port forwarding?) Thanks

  Hello Everyone! I have a Powerpoint 2007 document. There is this annoying background graphic in my Powerpoint slide. I know about slide master, but this little bugger is not something that I can delete from slide master. Argh!!!! • How secure is Microsoft 2007's encryption?

  I've read some various articles about Microsoft's encryption, and from what I gather, 2007 is secure using all default options due to it using AES, and 2000 and 2003 can be configured secure by changing the default algorithm to AES. I was wondering if anyone else has read any other articles or know of any specific vulnerabilities involved with how they implement the encryption. I would like to be able to tell users that they can use this to send semi sensitive documents as long as they use AES and a strong password. Thanks for the information.

  I'm working with Hosted SharePoint 2007 with Forms Server. I need to allow client access to submit HTML forms designed in Infopath. Problem is, I need to make sure the clients don't see the library. There is sensitive data that will be on these forms. I also need to have a repeated library that is based on the Internal Admin records and requirements. Outside of making a seperate library per customer, does anyone have any suggestions? My Goal: 1: Customers enter their requests through a link or provided page 2: Internally address the requests and perform required arrangements, add billing and payment fields 3: Have SharePoint metrics, reports, etc... based on the provided intormation and status. • Virtual PC 2007 Full Screen Resolution

  I have a laptop (1440 x 900) and an external monitor (1920 x 1200), and I'm running Virtual PC 2007. Initially, my VPC could not switch to fullscreen mode on my external monitor because the max resolution for VPC was only 1600 x 1200. I installed a hotfix (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958162) and after the hotfix, I was able to view VPC in fullscreen mode on my external monitor, but now I'm unable to view fullscreen on my laptop. It says "please check that the resolution of the guest is not higher than that of the host". I even tried to decrease the resolution of my Virtual PC to less than than of my laptop, but it always resets it back up. So now after the hotfix, I can view fullscreen mode only when my external monitor is plugged in. Any way I can resolve this?

  Hi all, If there are any System Center Config Manager (SCCM) users out there, please clarify my doubt here. I have used the ConfigMgr console to distribute a custom application to a client machine. Now I need to distribute some updated files of that application. Isnt's it possible to add those files in the same package source used earlier and advertise again? Or should I use the SCCM software update section for this? Not sure if its only me, but the Software distribution process looks much easier than the Software Updates process in SCCM 2007. Please do let me know if there any online tutorials which explain how to update a custom application. Any help much appreciated.

• Where does Outlook 2007 store opened attachments temporarily?

  If a 'friend' has double-clicked an Excel attachment from an Outlook 2007 email and worked on it, saved it and then closed Excel and the email, where would that file be lurking (assuming I haven't exited Outlook? I seem to remember Outlook 2003 putting stuff in %username%\Local Setings\Temporary Internet Files in OLK prefixed folders, but no sign of anything relevant looking in there. I'm he's on Windows XP. Update Temporary folder eventually found in: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook but need to navigate directly to this folder via pasting into 'Run...' dialog or Explorer to see it. Unfortunately, Outlook deletes the attchment when you close the email.

  I have an sbs 2008 server with exchange 2007, its running the MS spam filters which picks up the spam fine, however a lot of senders cannot send email to the recipients of the sbs2008 server until they have been emailed first and then that only applies to that one recipient (some form of aggregated white list). I have tried to track the messages using the built in tools on exchange 2007 but I am not having much joy! Any ideas?

  I have MS Office 2007 installed. When am using Outlook Web Access and I receive MS Office 2007 attachments from some colleagues, OWA requires me to save the file, rather than it opening with a double-click. When I "Save Target As..." it gives only the option to save as "Compressed (Zip) File" even though the filename appears as "filename.xlsx" Then, when I open the saved folder, the filename does not appear anywhere. Ideas?

• Cannot Expand/Collapse tasks in Microsoft Project 2010

  I opened an existing Microsoft Project file today and was unable to expand/collapse the subtasks use the cursor and the '+/-' signs beside the parent tasks. I am able to expand and collapse using the 'View-Outline' ribbon icon. However when I attempt to do this using the mouse on specific tasks, my cursor will not perform the task. My cursor is a 'white cross' when I need it to be an 'arrow'. I'm assuming this is something minor that I'm missing. Any assistance appreciated. Thanks

The gui doesn't accommodate it and the MS command line tools seem incomplete (for example: dnscmd cannot edit a record, only create). Is there a third party tool out there I can use? Basically I just need to change one IP address to another. <vent It's frustrating that what would take a simple search and replace in Linux is this massive exercise under Windows. I mean IIS 6 wasn't Microsoft's first web platform! What were they thinking??? </vent

• Weird outline numbering in Microsoft Word 2008

  This is quite a weird question, as I think I am asking the opposite of what most people want to try and achieve with outline numbering in Microsoft Word. The outline numbering associated with the styles "Heading 1" and "Heading 2" are fine and working as normal, but the outline numbering associated with all the heading styles from "Heading 3" onwards are broken. Here is a summary of how they look: 1 1.1 1.2 2 2.1 3 3.1 1.1.1 1.1.2 4 4.1 1.1.3 So you can see that while the first two headings are numbering correctly down the document, the third level heading doesn't restart and it doesn't have the correct 1st and 2nd level numbering - they all have '1.1' as a prefix. These are all controlled by the heading styles and I have tried every combination of options in the outline numbering section of the styles. Short of building a whole new template, recreating all my custom styles and then pasting the text across, I really don't know what to do. Before I try that, does anyone know what is going on here?

  Hello, I would like to be able use some sort of C++ style commenting for Microsoft Word. E.g. If I have // line of text the entire line should be a comment and should appear in a different colour. Same goes for: /* text block */ I would want text block to be in a different colour than my main text. Another feature that would be nice but not necessary for me to have is some sort of a way to quickly strip all the comments. I have no idea how this could be done, if possible. Any ideas? Thanks.

  To my surprise and delight I read that an adminsitrator can import (nearly directly) an Access 2007 database into a sharepoint site. Automagically, the database in transformed into lists and views with some table lookup thrown in for good measure. With Access 2007 installed on the client machine, even the forms and what not can still be reused. To me... this sounds to good to be true. Has anyone actually dones this? With all this good news, where is the bad stuff and pitfalls to this. Depending on the size of the database, wouldn't this some how "gum up the works" in the SharPoint database? • Merge changes in Microsoft Word documents

  I'm using Microsoft Word 2002 to maintain some documentation. The documents are stored in a version control repository (Subversion) together with the source code it documents. My Subversion client (TortoiseSVN) comes with a little VBA script that allows to leverage the built-in revisions feature when merging different branches. In other words, when I want to copy changes from one document to another, Word compares both documents (source and target) and builds a third document that has the contents of the source doc tagged as revisions, so I can then review differences one by one and confirm or discard changes. While this is handy, it also means that making a single change to the source document forces me to review all the differences between both documents and discard all of them except the only actual change. My questions is... Do you know about an application or plug-in that's able to find the differences between two Word documents and apply those differences to a third document? (I know 2002 is very old but that's what my company gives me; I'm open to solutions that use newer versions though.)

Announcement of .NET 4.0 3. Announcement of Silverlight later this week 4. What is the current Trend? Microsoft has done a research with many developers across the globe and have got the following feedback from the users. Get Lost (interrupted) - When we do some work and somebody is calling or interrepting by someother way we lose track of what we were doing and we need to do from the start Falling Behind- Technology gets updated  phenomenally over a period of time and developers always have a scenario like they are not in the state of the art technology and they always have a doubt whether they are staying updated. Lack of Collobaration - When a Manager asks a person what the team members have done and some might be done and some might not be and finally all are into a state like we dont know where we are. So they have addressed these 3 points in the VS 2010 by the following features : Get Lost - Some cool features which could overcome this. We have some Graphical interface. which could show what we have done and where we are. Some Zoom features in the code level. Falling Behind - Everything is based on .NET language base. 2010 has been built in such a way that if developers know the native language that's enough for building good applications. Lack of Collobaration - Some Dashboard Features which would show where exactly the project is. And a graphical user interface is shown on clicking which it directly drills down even to the code level. 5. An overview on all new features in VS 2010. 6. For each product different menu filters were provided to make an advanced search 3. BING Maps was awesome!! It zoomed in to the street level and we can assume that we are the persons who are walking or running on the road and we can see the real objects like buildings moving by our side. 4. PhotoSynth was used in BING to show up all the images taken around the globe in a 3D format. 5. Formula - If we give some formula it automatically gives the value for the variable or derivation of expression Also some info about some kool touch apps which does an authentication and computation of Teched Attendee's Points that they have scored and the sessions attended. One guy won an XBOX in lucky draw as a gift. • Using Hibernate with MS ACCESS 2007 Database (Free JDBC Driver)

  1. I want to do a reverse engineering action with the Hibernate plugin of Eclipse on a MS Access 2007 Database. I'm forced to use a existing MS Access 2007 db. A easy solution is to buy the HXTT. But I want to use a free driver to do my work. So I tried to apply this post : http://www.programmingforfuture.com/2011/06/how-to-use-ms-access-with-hibernate.html (That uses the SQL Server dialect and the driver sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver) Unfortunately I have an error that nobody seems to have been on the internet: Exception while generating code Reason : org.hibernate.exception.GenericJDBCException: Error while reading primary key meta data for `c:/myaccessdb.mdb`.TableTest1 I have try to change the primary key on my MS Access DB (deleting all primary key) or to try the reverse engineering on a MS ACCESS with only one table without primary key, but I got all times the problems. 2. The purpose of my job is to transfer daily (weekly) an Oracle 11g database with data from an existing database MS ACCESS 2007. And I thought to use a procedure (Hibernate EJB) Java to be launched automatically every week to do the data transfer. Is this is the best solution ? Configuration : sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver v??? Hibernate v3.4 Eclipse ps: If you are a HXTT developer or seller please be indulgent with my post ;). Making money by making people believe that you help, it's bad ! A solution is to use Derby Client driver, as the solution in the post: Does anyone know if Hibernate and java will work effectively with Access? But a clarification of the answer of Rich Seller is required. Could you explain your answer and explain your configuration (hibernate.cfg.xml, persistence.xml and what URL you use in the property name="hibernate.connection.url") without using paying HXTT driver but with the free Derby driver.
