  • iPhone scrollView won't scroll after keyboard is closed

    - by Rob
I was trying to implement a way to have the UITextField move up when the keyboard opened so that the user could see what they were typing but after implementing the code - it locks my scroll. The view will scroll when the user first gets to that view but after inputting text and closing the keyboard it locks the view. I suspect that it is a problem somewhere in this code: - (void) viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillAppear:animated]; NSLog(@"Registering for keyboard events"); // Register for the events [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector (keyboardDidShow:) name: UIKeyboardDidShowNotification object:nil]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector (keyboardDidHide:) name: UIKeyboardDidHideNotification object:nil]; // Setup content size scrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(SCROLLVIEW_CONTENT_WIDTH, SCROLLVIEW_CONTENT_HEIGHT); //Initially the keyboard is hidden keyboardVisible = NO; } -(void) viewWillDisappear:(BOOL)animated { NSLog (@"Unregister for keyboard events"); [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] removeObserver:self]; } //**-------------------------------** - (void) keyboardDidShow: (NSNotification *)notif { NSLog(@"Keyboard is visible"); // If keyboard is visible, return if (keyboardVisible) { NSLog(@"Keyboard is already visible. Ignore notification."); return; } // Get the size of the keyboard. NSDictionary* info = [notif userInfo]; NSValue* aValue = [info objectForKey:UIKeyboardBoundsUserInfoKey]; CGSize keyboardSize = [aValue CGRectValue].size; // Save the current location so we can restore // when keyboard is dismissed offset = scrollView.contentOffset; // Resize the scroll view to make room for the keyboard CGRect viewFrame = scrollView.frame; viewFrame.size.height -= keyboardSize.height; scrollView.frame = viewFrame; CGRect textFieldRect = [activeField frame]; textFieldRect.origin.y += 10; [scrollView scrollRectToVisible:textFieldRect animated:YES]; NSLog(@"ao fim"); // Keyboard is now visible keyboardVisible = YES; } -(void) keyboardDidHide: (NSNotification *)notif { // Is the keyboard already shown if (!keyboardVisible) { NSLog(@"Keyboard is already hidden. Ignore notification."); return; } // Reset the frame scroll view to its original value scrollView.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, SCROLLVIEW_CONTENT_WIDTH, SCROLLVIEW_CONTENT_HEIGHT); // Reset the scrollview to previous location scrollView.contentOffset = offset; // Keyboard is no longer visible keyboardVisible = NO; } -(BOOL) textFieldShouldBeginEditing:(UITextField*)textField { activeField = textField; return YES; } I defined the size above the #imports as: #define SCROLLVIEW_CONTENT_HEIGHT 1000 #define SCROLLVIEW_CONTENT_WIDTH 320 Really not sure what the issue is.

  • Sockets with Silverlight 4

    - by AngryHacker
I need to implement a persistent socket connection from my in-browser Silverlight 4 app to a device on the network. I need the following: Connect to it and keep a persistent connection Send and Receive data Get some type of event or notification (or detect it) when the connection drops. Is this possible with Silverlight 4? If so, can someone point me to some examples? All I am finding are some attempts at it with Silverlight 2.

  • Network Connection NSNotification for OSX?

    - by Andrew
I simply need to have a notification post when a valid IP address is assigned. I have tried polling via SCReachability, but that seems to be inefficient. Any suggestions? This seems like it should be simple, but I've been struggling for several hours to get anything working.

  • Update tile notifcation with XML returned by web service

    - by tempid
    I have a Metro app in C# & XAML. The tile is updated periodically and I've used WebAPI to serve the tile notification XML. So far so good. I was then told that I cannot use WebAPI as the server that I was planning to host it on does not have .NET 4.5. No plans to install it anytime soon either. I had to change the WebAPI to a plain old Web service (.NET 3.5) which does the same thing - return tile notification XML. I've enabled HTTP-GET (I know, security concern) and was able to invoke the webservice like this - http://server/TileNotifications.asmx/[email protected] But ever since I made the switch, the tiles are not being updated. I've checked Fiddler and made sure the app is hitting the webservice and the XML is being returned correctly. But the tiles are not updated. If I replace it with the WebAPI, the tiles are updated. Do I need to do anything special with the web services? like decorating the web method with a custom attribute? Here's my web service code - [WebMethod] public XmlDocument GetTileData(string user) { // snip var xml = new XmlDocument(); xml.LoadXml(string.Format(@"<tile> <visual> <binding template='TileWideSmallImageAndText02'> <image id='1' src='http://server/images/{0}_wide.png'/> <text id='1'>Custom Field : {1}/text> <text id='2'>Custom Field : {2}</text> <text id='3'>Custom Field : {3}</text> </binding> <binding template='TileSquarePeekImageAndText01'> <image id='1' src='http://server/images/{0}_square.png'/> <text id='1'>Custom Field</text> <text id='2'>{1}</text> </binding> </visual> </tile>", value1, value2, value3, value4)); return xml; }

  • How can I trace a variable at runtime in C#?

    - by luvieere
How can I track a variable's values as they change, at runtime, in C#? I'm interested in the same functionality that the debugger provides when I'm tracing a variable through execution steps, only that I need to call upon it from my code. Some sort of key-value observing, but for all kinds of variables(local, class, static, etc), not only properties. So, basically, receive a notification when a variable's value changes.

  • paypal ipn working but stopping at 'thank you' page.

    - by Tarique Imam
I am using the code for controller(CODEIGNITER): function paypal_tran(){ if (empty($_GET['action'])){ $_GET['action'] = 'process';} if($this-uri-segment ( 3 )){ $action=$this-uri-segment ( 3 ); } else{ $action='process'; } $ammount=39.99; $this-lenders_model-paypal_process($action,$this_script,$ammount); $this-load-view('view_paypal_tran'); } function ipn(){ if ($this->paypal_class->validate_ipn()) { $data = array( 'fname'=> 'fname', /* insert the user id */ 'lname'=>'lname' ); //$this->db->insert('ajax_test',$data); // For this example, we'll just email ourselves ALL the data. $subject = 'Instant Payment Notification - Recieved Payment'; $to = '[email protected]'; // your email $body = "An instant payment notification was successfully recieved\n"; $body .= "from ".$p->ipn_data['payer_email']." on ".date('m/d/Y'); $body .= " at ".date('g:i A')."\n\nDetails:\n"; foreach ($this->paypal_class->ipn_data as $key => $value) { $body .= "\n$key: $value"; } mail($to, $subject, $body); } } function success() { $this->load->view('paypal_succ_view'); } AND this is my model: function paypal_process($action,$this_script,$ammount){ switch ($action) { case 'process': // Process and order... // There should be no output at this point. To process the POST data, // the submit_paypal_post() function will output all the HTML tags which // contains a FORM which is submited instantaneously using the BODY onload // attribute. In other words, don't echo or printf anything when you're // going to be calling the submit_paypal_post() function. // This is where you would have your form validation and all that jazz. // You would take your POST vars and load them into the class like below, // only using the POST values instead of constant string expressions. // For example, after ensureing all the POST variables from your custom // order form are valid, you might have: // // $p->add_field('first_name', $_POST['first_name']); // $p->add_field('last_name', $_POST['last_name']); $this->paypal_class->add_field('business', '[email protected]'); $this->paypal_class->add_field('return', $this_script.'/success'); $this->paypal_class->add_field('cancel_return', $this_script.'/cancel'); $this->paypal_class->add_field('notify_url', $this_script.'/ipn'); $this->paypal_class->add_field('item_name', 'Lenders Account for one month'); $this->paypal_class->add_field('amount', $ammount); $this->paypal_class->submit_paypal_post(); // submit the fields to paypal $this->paypal_class->dump_fields(); // for debugging, output a table of all the fields break; PROBLEM IS IPN IS NOT WORKING. THE HIDDEN FIELD HAS VALUE FOR REDIRECT TO IPN, BUT NOT WORKING!!PLS HELP

  • Alternatives to dotfuscator suite?

    - by SnOrfus
I've been looking for solutions that provide a couple of types of protection and dotfuscator has been what I've landed on each time I look. Specifically, I like: code obfuscation their usage analytics tamper detection/notification shelf-life enforcement Now, I know that there's lots of alternatives to the first, some of which are free, but are there alternatives to the others? It's not that I don't want to pay the cost of dotfuscator suite, but I want to be informed before I write the cheque.

  • Message Queue with 'Message Barrier' Feature?

    - by Lajos Nagy
Is there a message queue implementation that allows breaking up work into 'batches' by inserting 'message barriers' into the message stream? Let me clarify. No messages after a message barrier should be delivered to any consumers of the queue, until all messages before the barrier are consumed. Sort of like a synchronization point. I'd also prefer if all consumers received notification when they reached a barrier. Anything like this out there?

  • Comet and [Session] TimeOut

    - by Amitd
hi guys, Just Wondering how [session] timeouts are(or can be) implemented when using Comet? I'm using Long polling Comet solution and want to implement a kind of Timeout feature. Example : If the user is on a comet enabled page and doesn't respond to server events/notification for a period of time say 10 mins then invalidate his session and remove his request from server and redirect the user to a timeout page? Will this require Javascript XHR requests to check for a timeout explictly? Using ASP.NET 3.5 / C# Thanks

  • Problem in implementing IAlertUpdateHandler interface

    - by TheVillageIdiot
I've implemented IAlertUpdateHandler interface in a class and used it for handling creation and updating of alerts. The code is fired but it goes into endless loop by calling itself again and again. Actually I want to suppress email notification so I'm calling a.Update(false); but this again calls PreUpdate or PostUpdate method and there is StackOverFlowException :( I've tried returning true/false from both the methods but nothing is helping.

  • Shake to open view modally

    - by Vivas
Hi, I have my 'shake' working fine (using motionEnded), based off of Apple's GLPaint code. When the user shakes the device (running 3.0 and up) I want to open a view controller modally using presentModalViewController. In my appdelegate I have the notification (as per the GLPaint sample code): [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(shakeToOpenHiddenScreen) name:@"shake" object:nil]; In my shakeToOpenHiddenScreen I just want to open view 'x' modally but I don't think that my appdelegate will respond to presentModalViewController. Is there a way around this?

  • Silverlight DataGrid Updating SelectedItem from code

When I update a datagrid SelectedItem from code (via a bound object in a ViewModel), how to I get the visual grid to highlight the newly selected item? Thanks, Mark UPDATE: This is still an issue for me. My SelectedItem property already implements change notification, but the datagrid is not VISUALLY displaying which row has been selected - i.e. it is not getting highlighted.

  • posting multiple radio button values to mysql using "foreach"

The notifications have been updated successfully.<p>"; echo "<p><span style='font-size: 12px;'> <a onClick=\"history.go(-1)\" class='form'>Return</a></p> <p></span> "; exit; }; ?> after doing some research i learnt that the only way to insert multiple radio values into the MYSQL table is to use arrays. there was a similar question raised somewhere on this site: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1656260/php-multiple-radio-buttons that recommended using a foreach loop. use a foreach loop <?php foreach ( $_POST as $key => $val ) echo "$key -> $val\n"; ?> $key will be the name of the selected option and $val, well, the value. how would this apply to my situation as i am struggling to find any help on the internet. i understand that i would use this on the processing page to pull out any radio values from the previous page and then loop the INSERT MYSQL code within the process until it was all done. any advice would be appreciated! GOD BLESS.

  • When using delegates, need better way to do sequential processing

    - by Padawan
I have a class WebServiceCaller that uses NSURLConnection to make asynchronous calls to a web service. The class provides a delegate property and when the web service call is done, it calls a method webServiceDoneWithXXX on the delegate. There are several web service methods that can be called, two of which are say GetSummary and GetList. The classes that use WebServiceCaller initially need both the summary and list so they are written like this: -(void)getAllData { [webServiceCaller getSummary]; } -(void)webServiceDoneWithGetSummary { [webServiceCaller getList]; } -(void)webServiceDoneWithGetList { ... } This works but there are at least two problems: The calls are split across delegate methods so it's hard to see the sequence at a glance but more important it's hard to control or modify the sequence. Sometimes I want to call just GetSummary and not also GetList so I would then have to use an ugly class-level state variable that tells webServiceDoneWithGetSummary whether to call GetList or not. Assume that GetList cannot be done until GetSummary completes and returns some data which is used as input to GetList. Is there a better way to handle this and still get asynchronous calls? Update based on Matt Long's answer: Using notifications instead of a delegate, it looks like I can solve problem #2 by setting a different selector depending on whether I want the full sequence (GetSummary+GetList) or just GetSummary. Both observers would still use the same notification name when calling GetSummary. I would have to write two separate methods to handle GetSummaryDone instead of using a single delegate method (where I would have needed some class-level variable to tell whether to then call GetList). -(void)getAllData { [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self              selector:@selector(getSummaryDoneAndCallGetList:)                  name:kGetSummaryDidFinish object:nil];     [webServiceCaller getSummary]; } -(void)getSummaryDoneAndCallGetList { [NSNotificationCenter removeObserver] //process summary data [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self              selector:@selector(getListDone:)                  name:kGetListDidFinish object:nil];     [webServiceCaller getList]; } -(void)getListDone { [NSNotificationCenter removeObserver] //process list data } -(void)getJustSummaryData { [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self              selector:@selector(getJustSummaryDone:) //different selector but                  name:kGetSummaryDidFinish object:nil]; //same notification name     [webServiceCaller getSummary]; } -(void)getJustSummaryDone { [NSNotificationCenter removeObserver] //process summary data } I haven't actually tried this yet. It seems better than having state variables and if-then statements but you have to write more methods. I still don't see a solution for problem 1.

  • KVO on the "windows" value of UIApplication?

    - by Ariel Malka
The following is not working: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] addObserver:self forKeyPath:@"windows" options:(NSKeyValueObservingOptionNew|NSKeyValueObservingOptionOld) context:NULL]; Together with that, on the Observer side: - (void) observeValueForKeyPath:(NSString *)keyPath ofObject:(id)object change:(NSDictionary *)change context:(void *)context { NSLog(@"never reached!"); } Any clues? N.B. My uber-goal is to get a notification when a (system-generated) UIAlertView is shown.

  • Google Chrome extension: Use Javascript inside webkit notifications?

    - by Arnaud Leymet
I have been following the Google Chrome Extensions Developer's guide and have been able so far to create an extension with a browser action without popup that would trigger a webkit notification in HTML format. Fact is that this HTML file contains action buttons, links and javascript, but none of them seems to respond. Is this a by-design behavior or is there a way for embedding javascript/links/buttons in these webkit notifications?

  • NSLinguisticTagger on the contents of an NSTextStorage- crashing bug

    - by Remy Porter
I'm trying to use an NSLinguisticTagger to monitor the contents of an NSTextStorage and provide some contextual information based on what the user types. To that end, I have an OverlayManager object, which wires up this relationship: -(void) setView:(NSTextView*) view { _view = view; _layout = view.layoutManager; _storage = view.layoutManager.textStorage; //get the TextStorage from the view [_tagger setString:_storage.string]; //pull the string out, this grabs the mutable version [self registerForNotificationsOn:self->_storage]; //subscribe to the willProcessEditing notification } When an edit occurs, I make sure to trap it and notify the tagger (and yes, I know I'm being annoyingly inconsistent with member access, I'm rusty on Obj-C, I'll fix it later): - (void) textStorageWillProcessEditing:(NSNotification*) notification{ if ([self->_storage editedMask] & NSTextStorageEditedCharacters) { NSRange editedRange = [self->_storage editedRange]; NSUInteger delta = [self->_storage changeInLength]; [_tagger stringEditedInRange:editedRange changeInLength:delta]; //should notify the tagger of the changes [self highlightEdits:self]; } } The highlightEdits message delegates the job out to a pool of "Overlay" objects. Each contains a block of code similar to this: [tagger enumerateTagsInRange:range scheme:NSLinguisticTagSchemeLexicalClass options:0 usingBlock:^(NSString *tag, NSRange tokenRange, NSRange sentenceRange, BOOL *stop) { if (tag == PartOfSpeech) { [self applyHighlightToRange:tokenRange onStorage:storage]; } }]; And that's where the problem is- the enumerateTagsInRange method crashes out with a message: 2014-06-04 10:07:19.692 WritersEditor[40191:303] NSMutableRLEArray replaceObjectsInRange:withObject:length:: Out of bounds This problem doesn't occur if I don't link to the mutable copy of the underlying string and instead do a [[_storage string] copy], but obviously I don't want to copy the entire backing store every time I want to do tagging. This all should be happening in the main run loop, so I don't think this is a threading issue. The NSRange I'm enumerating tags on exists both in the NSTextStorage and in the NSLinguisticTagger's view of the string. It's not even the fact that the applyHighlightToRange call adds attributes to the string, because it crashes before even reaching that line. I attempted to build a test case around the problem, but can't replicate it in those situations: - (void) testEdit { NSAttributedString* str = [[NSMutableAttributedString alloc] initWithString:@"Quickly, this is a test."]; text = [[NSTextStorage alloc] initWithAttributedString:str]; NSArray* schemes = [NSLinguisticTagger availableTagSchemesForLanguage:@"en"]; tagger = [[NSLinguisticTagger alloc] initWithTagSchemes:schemes options:0]; [tagger setString:[text string]]; [text beginEditing]; [[text mutableString] appendString:@"T"]; NSRange edited = [text editedRange]; NSUInteger length = [text changeInLength]; [text endEditing]; [tagger stringEditedInRange:edited changeInLength:length]; [tagger enumerateTagsInRange:edited scheme:NSLinguisticTagSchemeLexicalClass options:0 usingBlock:^(NSString *tag, NSRange tokenRange, NSRange sentenceRange, BOOL *stop) { //doesn't matter, this should crash }]; } That code doesn't crash.
