  • Display part of an XML file while parsing it

    - by Andy M
    Hey, Consider the following XML file : <cookbook> <recipe xml:id="MushroomSoup"> <title>Quick and Easy Mushroom Soup</title> <ingredient name="Fresh mushrooms" quantity="7" unit="pieces"/> <ingredient name="Garlic" quantity="1" unit="cloves"/> </recipe> <recipe xml:id="AnotherRecipe"> <title>XXXXXXX</title> <ingredient name="Tomatoes" quantity="8" unit="pieces"/> <ingredient name="PineApples" quantity="2" unit="cloves"/> </recipe> </cookbook> Let's say I want to parse this file and gather each recipe as XML, each one as a separated QString. For example, I would like to have a QString that contains : <recipe xml:id="MushroomSoup"> <title>Quick and Easy Mushroom Soup</title> <ingredient name="Fresh mushrooms" quantity="7" unit="pieces"/> <ingredient name="Garlic" quantity="1" unit="cloves"/> </recipe> How could I do this ? Do you guys know a quick and clean method to perform this ? Thanks in advance for your help !

  • Coupling between controller and view

    - by cheez
The litmus test for me for a good MVC implementation is how easy it is to swap out the view. I've always done this really badly due to being lazy but now I want to do it right. This is in C++ but it should apply equally to non-desktop applications, if I am to believe the hype. Here is one example: the application controller has to check some URL for existence in the background. It may connect to the "URL available" event (using Boost Signals) as follows: BackgroundUrlCheckerThread(Controller & controller) { // ... signalUrlAvailable.connect( boost::bind(&Controller::urlAvailable,&controller,_1)) } So what does Controller::urlAvailable look like? Here is one possibility: void Controller::urlAvailable(Url url) { if(!view->askUser("URL available, wanna download it?")) return; else // Download the url in a new thread, repeat } This, to me, seems like a gross coupling of the view and the controller. Such a coupling makes it impossible to implement the view when using the web (coroutines aside.) Another possibility: void Controller::urlAvailable(Url url) { urlAvailableSignal(url); // Now, any view interested can do what it wants } I'm partial to the latter but it appears that if I do this there will be: 40 billion such signals. The application controller can get huge for a non-trivial application A very real possibility that a given view accidentally ignores some signals (APIs can inform you at link-time, but signals/slots are run-time) Thanks in advance.

  • Qtestlib: QNetworkRequest not executed

    - by dzen
I would like to test an asynchronous request to a webserver. For that purpose I'm creating a simple unittest to quickly try a few lines of code: void AsynchronousCall::testGet() { QNetworkAccessManager *nam = new QNetworkAccessManager(this); QUrl url("http://myownhttpserver.org"); QNetworkRequest req(url); this->connect(nam, SIGNAL(finished(QNetworkReply*)), this, SLOT(reqFinished(QNetworkReply *))); QNetworkReply *rep = nam->get(req); } void AsynchronousCall::reqFinished(QNetworkReply *rep) { qDebug() << rep->readAll(); qDebug() << "finshed"; } The problem is that reqFinished() is never reached. If I had a simple QEventLoop and and a loop.exec() just after the nam-get(req); the request is executed. Any hint ? Do I have to use a loop.exec() in my every unittests ?

  • How to Save custom DockWidgets

    - by Tobias
Hello, I want to save my custom DockWidgets (inherited from QDockWidget) with the saveState() / restoreState() function my MainWindow provides. I have two questions: 1. How can I save and restore my Dockwidgets? - I already tried registering my custom DockWidgets as a QMetaType and implementing the default Constructor, copy Constructor, Destructor and Streaming operators. 2. How can I identify the loaded DockWidgets? - For example: If 2 DockWidgets where saved and I load them with restoreState(), is there a way to get pointers to these loaded Widgets? Thanks, Tobias

  • Overloading the QDataStream << and >> operators for a user-defined type

    - by Alex Wood
I have a an object I'd like to be able to read and write to/from a QDataStream. The header is as follows: class Compound { public: Compound(QString, QPixmap*, Ui::MainWindow*); void saveCurrentInfo(); void restoreSavedInfo(QGraphicsScene*); void setImage(QPixmap*); QString getName(); private: QString name, homeNotes, addNotes, expText; Ui::MainWindow *gui; QPixmap *image; struct NMRdata { QString hnmrText, cnmrText, hn_nmrText, hn_nmrNucl, notes; int hnmrFreqIndex, cnmrFreqIndex, hn_nmrFreqIndex, hnmrSolvIndex, cnmrSolvIndex, hn_nmrSolvIndex; }*nmr_data; struct IRdata { QString uvConc, lowResMethod, irText, uvText, lowResText, highResText, highResCalc, highResFnd, highResFrmla, notes; int irSolvIndex, uvSolvIndex; }*ir_data; struct PhysicalData { QString mpEdit, bpEdit, mpParensEdit, bpParensEdit, rfEdit, phyText, optAlpha, optConc, elemText, elemFrmla, notes; int phySolvIndex, optSolvIndex; }*physical_data; }; For all intensive purposes, the class just serves as an abstraction for a handful of QStrings and a QPixmap. Ideally, I would be able to write a QList to a QDataStream but I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing this. If operator overloading is a suitable solution, would writing code like friend QDataStream& operator << (QDataStream&,Compound) { ... } be a potential solution? I'm very open to suggestions! Please let me know if any further clarification is needed.

  • qmake and multiple MSVS versions

    - by goodrone
From Visual Studio 2008 Command Prompt I run this command to generate .vcproj file: >qmake -spec win32-msvc2008 And get a warning message: WARNING: Generator: MSVC.NET: Found more than one version of Visual Studio in your path! Fallback to lowest version (MSVC.NET 2008 (9.0), MSVC.NET 2008 Express Edition (9.0), MSVC.NET 2005 (8.0), MSVC.NET 2008 (9.0) in path, MSVC.NET 2008 Express Edition (9.0) in path) For this project I use MSVS 2008 Professional. Actually the generated .vcproj file works well, but what is the warning message about?

  • Using a member function with QScriptEngine::newFunction

    - by Rohan Prabhu
Hey all, Let's take the case of a simple class: QScriptEngine engine; class MyClass { public: QScriptValue foo(QScriptContext*, QScriptEngine*); MyClass(); }; QScriptValue MyClass:foo(QScriptContext* context, QScriptEngine* eng) { //something } MyClass::MyClass() { QScriptValue self = engine.newFunction(this->foo, 0); .... } The above function gives me an error: no matching function for call to ‘QScriptEngine::newFunction(<unresolved overloaded function type>, int)’ I have tried using engine.newFunction(reinterpret_cast<FunctionSignature>(foo), 0); but this gives me an error which basically says that the compiler is not aware of a keyword called 'FunctionSignature'. Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot. Regards, rohan

    - by Red Serpent
Hi I have a local html file which I'm trying to view using QTWebKit, there are some images in the file which are of type ".ico" which seems that QTWebKit is not able to render them as it gives a question mark icon instead. I tried opening the html file in firefox and its working fine and all images gets rendered. My question is, does QTWebKit support ico images, and if it does... what should I do to enable webkit to render ico images? Regards

  • insertRecord into QSqlTableModel fails, but item appears in QListView

    - by Anteru
I got a pretty weird problem with a QSqlTableModel. The underlying SQL Database has a constraint Title UNIQUE. If I add a record which violates the constraint using insertRecord, the call fails (return value is false.) However, the view which uses the model displays the entry -- I have to manually remove it in order to get rid of it. How can I change this so the view does not get updated when an insertRecord fails? I would have assumed that the view gets only updated if there is really a change ...

  • Right clicking on QHeaderView inside of QTreeView

    - by taynaron
I've written a descendant of QTreeView with multiple columns. I want to create a popup menu that appears whe nthe user right-clicks over the column headers. I have tried catching signals from QTreeView for this, but QTreeView doesn't seem to emit signals on the headers. QTreeView.header() does. I therefore believe I must either: 1: connect one of QHeaderView's signals to a popup function - I have been unable to find a signal that is triggered on a single right click - I have tried sectionClicked, sectionHandleDoubleClicked, sectionDoubleClicked, sectionPressed (not surprised the double click functions didn't catch a single right click - but they do catch a double right click) self.header().sectionClicked.connect(self.headerMenu) self.header().sectionHandleDoubleClicked.connect(self.headerMenu) self.header().sectionDoubleClicked.connect(self.headerMenu) self.header().sectionPressed.connect(self.headerMenu) or, 2: write a descendant of QHeaderView with my own MousePressEvent function, and use that for my headers. I have so far been unsuccessful in connecting the new header class to the QTreeView descendant. I keep getting a Segmentation Fault on runtime, with no more explanation. #in DiceView's init, where DiceHeaders is the QHeaderView descendant self.setHeader(DiceHeaders()) Any ideas?

  • Unit Testing in QTestLib - running single test / tests in class / all tests

    - by Dave
I'm just starting to use QTestLib. I have gone through the manual and tutorial. Although I understand how to create tests, I'm just not getting how to make those tests convenient to run. My unit test background is NUnit and MSTest. In those environments, it was trivial (using a GUI, at least) to alternate between running a single test, or all tests in a single test class, or all tests in the entire project, just by clicking the right button. All I'm seeing in QTestLib is either you use the QTEST_MAIN macro to run the tests in a single class, then compile and test each file separately; or use QTest::qExec() in main() to define which objects to test, and then manually change that and recompile when you want to add/remove test classes. I'm sure I'm missing something. I'd like to be able to easily: Run a single test method Run the tests in an entire class Run all tests Any of those would call the appropriate setup / teardown functions.

  • Calling activateWindow on QDialog sends window to background

    - by Stan
I am debugging certain application written with C++/Qt4. On Linux it has problems that with certain window managers (gnome-wm/metacity), the main window (based on QDialog) is created in the background (it's not raised). I managed to re-create the scenario using PyQt4 and following code: from PyQt4.QtCore import * from PyQt4.QtGui import * import sys class PinDialog(QDialog): def showEvent(self, event): QDialog.showEvent(self, event) self.raise_() self.activateWindow() if __name__ == "__main__": app = QApplication(sys.argv) widget = PinDialog() app.setActiveWindow(widget) widget.exec_() sys.exit(0) If I remove self.activateWindow() the application works as expected. This seems wrong, since documentation for activateWindow does not specify any conditions under which something like this could happen. My question is: Is there any reason to have activateWindow in showEvent in the first place? If there is some reason, what would be good workaround for focusing issues?

  • Interpreting segfault messages

  • PyQt: How to keep QTreeView nodes correctly expanded after a sort

    - by taynaron
I'm writing a simple test program using QTreeModel and QTreeView for a more complex project later on. In this simple program, I have data in groups which may be contracted or expanded, as one would expect in a QTreeView. The data may also be sorted by the various data columns (QTreeView.setSortingEnabled is True). Each tree item is a list of data, so the sort function implemented in the TreeModel class uses the built-in python list sort: self.layoutAboutToBeChanged.emit() self.rootItem.childItems.sort(key=lambda x: x.itemData[col], reverse=order) for item in self.rootItem.childItems: item.childItems.sort(key=lambda x: x.itemData[col], reverse=order) self.layoutChanged.emit() The problem is that whenever I change the sorting of the root's child items (the tree is only 2 levels deep, so this is the only level with children) the nodes aren't necessarily expanded as they were before. If I change the sorting back without expanding or collapsing anything, the nodes are expanded as before the sorting change. Can anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong? I suspect it's something with not properly reassigning QModelIndex with the sorted nodes, but I'm not sure.

  • get all running processes info using QProcess

    - by kaycee
few days ago i asked about how to get all running processes in the system using QProcess. i found a command line that can output all processes to a file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\wmic.exe" /OUTPUT:C:\ProcessList.txt PROCESS get Caption this will create C:\ProcessList.txt file contains all running processes in the system. i wonder how can i run it using QProcess and take its output to a variable. it seems every time i try to run it and read nothing happens: QString program = "C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\wbem\\wmic.exe"; QStringList arguments; arguments << "/OUTPUT:C:\\ProcessList.txt" <<"PROCESS"<< "get"<< "Caption"; process->setStandardOutputFile("process.txt"); process->start(program,arguments); QByteArray result = process->readAll(); i prefer not to create process.txt at all and to take all the output to a variable...
