Can't select data from MySQL database: java.lang.NullPointerException

MySQL - Calculating a value from two columns in each row, using the result in a WHERE or HAVING clause

I have a MySQL db schema like so: id flags views done ------------------------------- 1 2 20 0 2 66 100 0 3 25 40 0 4 30 60 0 ... thousands of rows ... I want to update all of the rows whose flags / views are = 0.2. First as a test I want to try to SELECT to see how many rows would actually get updated. I tried: SELECT flags/views AS poncho FROM mytable HAVING poncho 0.2 But this only returns like 2 rows and I know there should be a lot more than that. It seems like it's calculating the poncho value on all rows or something odd. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

I have a table that lists number of comments from a particular site like the following: Date Site Comments Total --------------------------------------------------------------- 2010-04-01 00:00:00.000 1 5 5 2010-04-01 00:00:00.000 2 8 13 2010-04-01 00:00:00.000 4 2 7 2010-04-01 00:00:00.000 7 13 13 2010-04-01 00:00:00.000 9 1 2 I have another table that lists ALL sites for example from 1 to 10 Site ----- 1 2 ... 9 10 Using the following code i can find out which sites are missing entries for the previous month: SELECT s.site from tbl_Sites s EXCEPT SELECT c.site from tbl_Comments c WHERE c.[Date] = DATEADD(mm, DATEDIFF(mm, 0, GetDate()) -1,0) Producing: site ----- 3 5 6 8 10 I would like to be able to insert the missing sites that is listed from my query into the comments table with some default values, i.e '0's Date Site Comments Total --------------------------------------------------------------- 2010-04-01 00:00:00.000 3 0 0 2010-04-01 00:00:00.000 5 0 0 2010-04-01 00:00:00.000 6 0 0 2010-04-01 00:00:00.000 8 0 0 2010-04-01 00:00:00.000 10 0 0 the question is, how did i update/insert the table/values? cheers, Lee

How to combine two sql queries?

Hi Guys, I have a stock table and I would like to create a report that will show how often were items ordered. "stock" table: item_id | pcs | operation apples | 100 | order oranges | 50 | order apples | -100 | delivery pears | 100 | order oranges | -40 | delivery apples | 50 | order apples | 50 | delivery Basically I need to join these two queries together. A query which prints stock balances: SELECT stock.item_id, Sum(stock.pcs) AS stock_balance FROM stock GROUP BY stock.item_id; A query which prints sales statistics SELECT stock.item_id, Sum(stock.pcs) AS pcs_ordered, Count(stock.item_id) AS number_of_orders FROM stock GROUP BY stock.item_id, stock.operation HAVING stock.operation="order"; I think that some sort of JOIN would do the job but I have no idea how to glue queries together. Desired output: item_id | stock_balance | pcs_ordered | number_of_orders apples | 0 | 150 | 2 oranges | 10 | 50 | 1 pears | 100 | 100 | 1 This is just example. Maybe, I will need to add more conditions because there is more columns. Is there a universal technique of combining multiple queries together?

Just ran into a problem I know these integers, $integers: 3,5,15,20 I only want to select the rows from this following table where all comma separated INT's from the field NUMBERS are found. TABLE: number_table Uid Numbers ------------------------ 1 3,5,15 OK, since all of NUMBERS are in $integers 2 5,15,20 OK, since all of NUMBERS are in $integers 3 3,4,5,15 NOT OK, since 4 is not found in $integers 4 2,15,20,25 NOT OK, since 2 and 25 is not found in $integers Is it possible to to a "for-each" on a comma separated string or another way to do this SELECT?

How to perform Linq select new with datetime in SQL 2008

In our C# code I recently changed a line from inside a linq-to-sql select new query as follows: OrderDate = (p.OrderDate.HasValue ? p.OrderDate.Value.Year.ToString() + "-" + p.OrderDate.Value.Month.ToString() + "-" + p.OrderDate.Value.Day.ToString() : "") To: OrderDate = (p.OrderDate.HasValue ? p.OrderDate.Value.ToString("yyyy-mm-dd") : "") The change makes the line smaller and cleaner. It also works fine with our SQL 2008 database in our development environment. However, when the code deployed to our production environment which uses SQL 2005 I received an exception stating: Nullable Type must have a value. For further analysis I copied (p.OrderDate.HasValue ? p.OrderDate.Value.ToString("yyyy-mm-dd") : "") into a string (outside of a Linq statement) and had no problems at all, so it only causes an in issue inside my Linq. Is this problem just something to do with SQL 2005 using different date formats than from SQL 2008? Here's more of the Linq: dt = FilteredOrders.Where(x => x != null).Select(p => new { Order = p.OrderId, link = "/order/" + p.OrderId.ToString(), StudentId = (p.PersonId.HasValue ? p.PersonId.Value : 0), FirstName = p.IdentifierAccount.Person.FirstName, LastName = p.IdentifierAccount.Person.LastName, DeliverBy = p.DeliverBy, OrderDate = p.OrderDate.HasValue ? p.OrderDate.Value.Date.ToString("yyyy-mm-dd") : ""}).ToDataTable(); This is selecting from a List of Order objects. The FilteredOrders list is from another linq-to-sql query and I call .AsEnumerable on it before giving it to this particular select new query. Doing this in regular code works fine: if (o.OrderDate.HasValue) tempString += " " + o.OrderDate.Value.Date.ToString("yyyy-mm-dd");

jQuery remove selected option from this

Hi all, first post here, I come in peace :) I've searched but can't quite find what I'm after. I am trying to manipulate the selected option of a select box. Can someone please explain why this works: $('#some_select_box').click(function() { $('#some_select_box option:selected').remove(); }); but this doesn't: $('#some_select_box').click(function() { $('this option:selected').remove(); }); I just want to use "this" instead of spelling out the id of the select box - can someone point me in the right direction for the correct syntax? It's driving me mad because it looks like it should be really simple. And I'm sure it is to someone, but not me, cos its the end of the day and I'm brain-fried... Any pointers much appreciated. Hi, I wish to extract just the first 1024 bytes of a stored blob and not the whole file. The reason for this is I want to just extract the metadata from a file as quickly as possible without having to select the whole blob. I understand the following: select dbms_lob.substr(file_blob, 16,1) from file_upload where file_upload_id=504; which returns it as hex. How may I do this so it returns it in binary data without selecting the whole blob? Thanks in advance.

I have two tables as follows: tblCountry (countryID, countryCode) tblProjectCountry(ProjectID, countryID) The tblCountry table is a list of all countries with their codes and the tblProjectCountry table associates certain countries with certain projects. I need an SQL statement that gives me a list of the countries with their country code that do NOT have an associated record in the tblProjectCountry table. so far I got to here: SELECT tblCountry.countryID, tblCountry.countryCode FROM tblProjectCountry INNER JOIN tblCountry ON tblProjectCountry.countryID = tblCountry.countryID WHERE (SELECT COUNT(ProjectID) FROM tblProjectCountry WHERE (ProjectID = 1) AND (countryID = tblCountry.countryID)) = 0 The above statement parses as correct but doesn't give the exact result I'm looking for. Can anyone help?

Ok, here's a query that I am running right now on a table that has 45,000 records and is 65MB in size... and is just about to get bigger and bigger (so I gotta think of the future performance as well here): SELECT count(payment_id) as signup_count, sum(amount) as signup_amount FROM payments p WHERE tm_completed BETWEEN '2009-05-01' AND '2009-05-30' AND completed > 0 AND tm_completed IS NOT NULL AND member_id NOT IN (SELECT p2.member_id FROM payments p2 WHERE p2.completed=1 AND p2.tm_completed < '2009-05-01' AND p2.tm_completed IS NOT NULL GROUP BY p2.member_id) And as you might or might not imagine - it chokes the mysql server to a standstill... What it does is - it simply pulls the number of new users who signed up, have at least one "completed" payment, tm_completed is not empty (as it is only populated for completed payments), and (the embedded Select) that member has never had a "completed" payment before - meaning he's a new member (just because the system does rebills and whatnot, and this is the only way to sort of differentiate between an existing member who just got rebilled and a new member who got billed for the first time). Now, is there any possible way to optimize this query to use less resources or something, and to stop taking my mysql resources down on their knees...? Am I missing any info to clarify this any further? Let me know... return only the last select results from stored procedure

The requirement says: stored procedure meant to search data, based on 5 identifiers. If there is an exact match return ONLY the exact match, if not but there is an exact match on the not null parameters return ONLY these results, otherwise return any match on any 4 not null parameters... and so on My (simplified) code looks like: create procedure xxxSearch @a nvarchar(80), @b nvarchar(80)... as begin select whatever from MyTable t where ((@a is null and t.a is null) or (@a = t.a)) and ((@b is null and t.b is null) or (@b = t.b))... if @@ROWCOUNT = 0 begin select whatever from MyTable t where ((@a is null) or (@a = t.a)) and ((@b is null) or (@b = t.b))... if @@ROWCOUNT = 0 begin ... end end end As a result there can be more sets of results selected, the first ones empty and I only need the last one. I know that it is easy to get the only the last result set on the application side, but all our stored procedure calls go through a framework that expects the significant results in the first table and I'm not eager to change it and test all the existing SPs. Is there a way to return only the last select results from a stored procedure? Is there a better way to do this task ?

I did a search and found a function, but it doesn't appear to work. I have sql 2005 and when i run below query, data from RealTimeLog table transfer to History but when new data come in RealTimeLog table old data not changed by new one means OutTime data is not changed with new data from RealTimeLog. insert into History (UserID,UserName,LogDate, [InTime], [OutTime]) SELECT UserID,UserName,[LogDate],CONVERT(nvarchar,MIN(CONVERT(datetime, [LogTime], 108)), 108), CONVERT(nvarchar, MAX(CONVERT(datetime, [LogTime], 108)), 108) From RealTimeLog where not Exists (select * from History H Where H.UserID = RealTimeLog.UserID AND H.UserName=RealTimeLog.UserName AND H.LogDate=RealTimeLog.LogDate) GROUP BY UserID,UserName,[LogDate] ORDER BY UserID,[LogDate] for ex. 1 Shanks 02/05/2010 9:00 10:00 if new Max time generated suppose 11:00 in RealtimeLog then it is not inserted in History table and output remain same as above.
