  • Win server 2008 change port of RD Gateway

    Is it possible to change the port used by RD Gateway. I know its integrated with IIS and it uses port 443 (SSL) so i've changed my IIS bindings to use a different port for SSL communications. however, I can't find any way to specify the RD gateway port in the RD client. Has anyone ever done this before? Reason I'm asking is, my ISP just recently blocked port 80 and 443 so I am forced to use another port.

  • Can you create ACLs with open vSwitch on XenServer 5.6FP1 without using the DVS appliance?

    I have a pool of XenServer hosts running the Free version of XenServer 5.6 FP1. I was wondering if I change the network backend to use Open vSwitch if I can specify ACLs on individual network VIFs without needing to use the DVS appliance (distributed virtual switch) which requires an Advanced License or higher. Basically I'm looking for a way to isolate VMs on my network so that if a user had root access on the command line they couldn't access other servers they should not be able to (without using a VLAN).

Is there some software I can use that will take a webpage, let me specify some regexes or something, and then spit out all the matched data in a CSV or some format easily insertable into a DB?

  • Free-space driven log rotation on linux?

    Someone just asked me 'how long should we keep logs for our application', and my answer was 'until the disk is full' as there's no reason to throw them away other than running out of space. However, standard logrotate wants us to specify a specific period + number of rotations. Is there something similar that would let us say "rotate daily, and keep as much history as you like until there is only 5% space free"? The platform is Redhat Linux.

    Our internal website links to Excel files on a network-mapped drive. The links specify the filename and worksheet to open, in the following format (path and link information omitted): ExcelFileName#'SheetName'!$A$1 This works fine with Excel 2003, but we're moving to Excel 2007, which won't even open the file if that extra information is present. I haven't been able to find a definitive answer on whether this feature has been removed (or the syntax changed) in 2007. Any help will be highly appreciated!

    What options are available to load balance web service traffic on Linux with the ability to add or remove servers from the server pool without restarting the load balancer? This post: http://serverfault.com/questions/71437/mod-proxy-change-without-restart looks like a very promising way to switch between two servers, but I don't know enough about mod_proxy and mod_rewrite to understand how/if I can use an external file to specify the BalancerMember entries for a section. Are there other open source load balancers that support reconfiguration without restart?

  • Mounting /var /tmp /var/log to separate partition

    Per DISA hardening requirements for RHEL, I'm supposed to make sure a number of locations on the filesystem are mounted on separate partitions. A few of the locations they specify include /var /tpm /var/log etc. Is it possible to go about doing this on a live machine (without booting a separate OS)? And how would I go about doing that. I've backed up the OS so if I do screw something up I can recover. Thanks!

I tried using the vpn connection tab under the network connections, but my files didn't specify a username after importing and it forced to me to save one, so attempting to connect to it didn't yield any results.   • Slow tab completion for paths in`make' arguments

    When I'm specifying an argument for make like PREFIX_PATH=/some/path/to/prefix/ I sometimes experience very slow completion for my directories (a few seconds). It's annoying when I've got several variables to specify. To get around the problem I've been typing out the variables first to get regular completion speed, then hitting home' to insertmake` that the start of my command line. What is happening and how can I fix it?

For the current traffic, it's good enought but, my question is, wouldn't i be better off, if i would buy for example, a server and plug it to the ISP myself? For example a Mac mini or a MacPro ? Where is the downside of such an example? It's ok if you just specify the mandatory things to watch for such a setup.

  • Python to see if a file falls into a date range

    I have a script that I want to have an if statement check if a file falls between several specified date periods as it searches directories. I have been able to get the time in %Y-%m-%d format for the file, but I can't seem to be able to specify a date range for python to go through. Any ideas/help?     There's a rumour that public domain name resolvers, like Google Public DNS, are still supposed to work with GeoDNS, because there's some field in the requests that lets them specify for which IP address they are doing a resolution, thus the authoritative servers can give a given resolver different resolutions for different final clients. What's this whole thing called as far as RFCs go, and how does one mimic such resolutions, for testing purposes, e.g. with dig(1)? Else, what other tool is available to accomplish said task?

    As it is told in git-config manual, I have three files to specify git repo configuration: $GIT_DIR/config, ~/.gitconfig and $(prefix)/etc/gitconfig. Is it possible to make git read another config file (for example .gitconfig in root of the repo) after reading $GIT_DIR/config? I want it as I created git command aliases in .git/config and I would prefer to store them in repo, so I can restore them when cloning and for example.

    My IT department has a bunch of older 160/320GB Drives. I'd like to use them in a build-your-own NAS device. What limitations exist in regards to the maximum number of drives that can be connected to typical commodity hardware that might be used in a situation like this? EDIT okay I like to specify my question is what to search for to find a storage controller which can handle many drives. I simply cannot find the right search terms.
