  I'm working on a project right now and it's my first project using BDD. Up till now, the user stories have proven themselves a very valuable weapon to understand requirements and to specify the solution in a comprehensive, easy to understand language. My question is this: now that my user stories are complete, how do I design my solution? I understand that I derive behavior tests from my user stories, and I have to do UI design, but am I supposed to use good ol' UML? I'm under the impression that when using user stories, UML is left out; is this correct? Léster

  Do you think it is techniclly possible to write a fully-fledged 3D MMO client with Browser JavaScript - WebGL for graphics, and WebSocket for Networking? Do you think future MMOs (and games generally) will wrriten with WebGL? Does today's JavaScript performance allow this? Let's say your development team was you as a developer, and another model creator (artist). Would you use a library like SceneJS for the game, or write straight WebGL? • Customizing JBar for Notifications

  Lately I've been using JBar, a very neat jQuery plugin for displaying notifications in my web applications. Unfortunately the original version of JBar only supports binding to the click event of a DOM item. In order to get around this limitation I have modified the source code and posted an updated version on my GitHub account here. The modified version allows you to display a JBar notification by calling a method. I typically use it to display succes or failure messages when doing Ajax calls. I have also included some additional CSS and JS so that you can diplay different styles of notifications. showNotification(message) shows a green "success" message. showWarning(message) shows an orange "warning" message. showMessage(message, className) allows you to specify a custom class to apply to the notification for additional styling purposes. • Are these interview questions too complex for entry-level C++ positions?

  Hi All, I recently had a few interviews for programming jobs within the financial industry. I am looking for entry-level positions as I specify in the cover letter. However I am usually asked questions such as: - all two-letters commands you know in unix - representation of float/double numbers (ieee standard) - segmentation fault memory dump, and related issues - all functions you know to convert string to integer (not just atoi) - how to avoid virtual tables - etc.. Is that the custom? Because I don't think this kind of questions make sense for someone willing to get an entry-level job. Is it totally crazy to think that they should ask more conceptual questions? This is beginning to driving me nuts, honestly. Thanks

• Why would I want to install node.js in my Rails Application?

  Okay guys, I'm super confused. I thought node.js was a sever side framwork, basically the js version of Ruby's Rails or PHP's Zend. However, I'm having some difficulty with turbolinks, and it seems to be the way to fix it is through installing node.js I mean, I don't understand this at all. How can two frameworks work together like this? Also, it's not a gem (that REALLY would have confused me), you have to install node.js it onto your local machine by running (in the case of Ubuntu) sudo apt-get install nodejs Firstly, how does this totally separate framwork have any bearing on rails? Secondly, surely this isn't fixing the problem forever? When you specify a gem in your gemfile, the server knows what external libraries to install. How does the server know to install nodejs?

  I can't find much online about rel="translation" We have tutorials and manual entries which we are going to get users to translate. I'm aware at the top of the page I would need to specify the correct IS639-1 code: <html lang="de"> But I'm more interested in letting Google know they are not duplicates but are translated.

• How do I get the source code from a Google Code game project?

  I'm trying to get the Hedgewars source code. When I went to the downloads tab, it doesn't specify which is the actual game. I tried downloading it using the SVN Checkout on Tortoise, but it seems like it doesn't work on the browse section of Source. (Hgproject_filesAndroid_buildSDL-android-project) I then proceeded to the wiki but I got stuck at step two because I don't know anything about Mercurial. Some other things I don't know from the wiki is "FreePascal" "Android NDK" and "Tar" files. They are new to me so I am really confused. So my question is, how can I download the source code from Hedge Wars for Android without having to browse the source code inside the source tab?

(whatever the newly created directory name is) make all sudo make install Then I edited /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-custom and added blacklist sn9c102. However when I type tar zxvf tip.tar.gz it displays: tar: You may not specify more than one `-Acdtrux' or `--test-label' option Try `tar --help' or `tar --usage' for more information. Why?   Have just started scripting in Unreal Script and am following the instructions of the opening chapter of a book on the subject. I have set the development tools up as described in the book such that it is now possible to compile the scripts for UDK before adding them to a level. My issue is: the very first script the book asks you to compile is the following: class AwesomeActor extends Actor placeable; defaultproperties { Begin Object Class=SpriteComponent Name = Sprite Sprite = Texture2D'EditorResources.S_NavP' End Object Components.Add(Sprite) } And when I hit F9 in the compiler I get the following error message: Error, BEGIN OBJECT: Must specify valid name for suboject/copmponent: Begin Object class=SpriteComponent name = Sprite My question: As far as I'm aware I've copied the code from the book veribatim including capital and smaller case letters but I'm getting this error and I was wondering if anyone knew why and if so how I would fix it?

• How to use Btrfs with compression on external USB hard drive?

  I would like to make use of Btrfs' transparent compression on an external drive. Which tool is best for formatting the drive? Disk Utility or GParted? How do I activate the compression? During formatting or when I mount the drive? I guess at mount time. I'm using usbmount to automatically mount newly attached devices, because nobody is logged in on the desktop. Would I have to set general default options somewhere in a system configuration file to get Btrfs mounted with compression, or would I specify this via FS_MOUNTOPTIONS in /etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf and how? • Are there any good reasons to intentionally serve a new web site in Quirks mode?

  I was a little surprised that Amazon's site doesn't specify a doctype, and is rendered in quirks mode. What could possibly be the reason for this? I understand what quirks mode is and why doctypes were introduced, but I can't understand why this would be intentionally left off. I guess it might simplify markup if they're trying to support ancient browsers, but isn't that like shooting yourself in the foot when it comes to modern browsers, especially when their site is so Javascript rich? Does this level the playing field when it comes to supporting really old browsers? Is there something else I'm missing?

  I have WordPress installed at the root level of a website. I thought it would be easy enough to have a "coming soon" page called default.html and edit the .htaccess file as follows: AddHandler php5-script .php DirectoryIndex default.html index.php # BEGIN WordPress # END WordPress ...so that visitors to the site are sent to the default page, and I could manually specify index.php as my destination for testing. (This isn't a high-security job.) But index.php is redirecting me to the default page. When I remove the DirectoryIndex line, the index.php file is found automatically by visitors to the site root, but... that's the page I was trying to hide. What am I doing wrong with .htaccess and how can I get it to behave the way I want?

  I want to display a spatial (or the rendering of a spatial/scene) in my HUD interface. I'm really not sure how to go with this. I have search the documentation, but all the queries I search yields no result, and all I could find about images is that one can specify one with the setBackgroundImage method in the builder and setImage from the ImageRenderer class. The latter takes a String or a NiftyImage, but I'm not sure how to create one without loading an image file. Any help to understand this (if even possible) is appreciated. Thanks!

• How can I prevent Google mistakenly offering to translate a page?

  Several of my site's pages are appearing in search results with [Translate this page] next to it. When I click that it takes me to Google Translate and translates my page "from Catalan to English". The pages are in English but have a couple of foreign words (actually Japanese romanisations, not Catalan) that appear to be tripping Google up. A few weeks ago I set the html tag to <html lang="en"> which from research appears to be the best method to specify the language of a document. Google has cached the pages with this attribute but it is still offering to translate. More research led me to a "notranslate" attribute which prevents translation entirely: <html lang="en" class="notranslate">. The problem now is users cannot translate from English to their desired language! Are there any other solutions that force Google to parse my site as English only?
