• mysql image disable print download

  Hi, We use a Flex AIR client and a WAMP server. Tiff images are stored in MySQL. Currently, I can download the image from AIR client and it prompts for a download dialog. Things are fine till this point. We got a new requirement. Requirement is that only some users can print the image which gets downloaded. For other users, they should not be able to print the tiff image. Wondering how to accomplish this. One idea, not sure if its efficient, is to convert the image requested to pdf at the server side, disable print option there(hope there are API's available) and send back the pdf. Please let me know btter ideas. Also, is there a way to prevent file download dialog from popping up everytime the file is requested for download? Can we just get the file stream to the client and manipulate it to open with a particular viewer or write it to pdf... Please help.

• ParseKit.framework won't work, Foundation.h not found

  I'm really stumped trying to get the ParseKit.framework (this) to work in general, not even bothering to implement it till it runs the demo app that comes with it. What happens is the compiler can't locate < Foundation/Foundation.h or something, which I thought the header was in the linked framework. Exact error: "Lexical or Preprocessor Issue: 'Foundation/Foundation.h' file not found." Here's the code, just from the ParseKit_Prefix.pch: // // Prefix header for all source files of the 'ParseKit' target in the 'ParseKit' project. //#ifdef __OBJC__ #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #endif Nothing unusual about it, did I mess up the file paths some how? I've reinstalled Xcode, re-downloaded the ParseKit, and nothing is helping. The suggestions here did nothing and it's not this. When I make a new project or use a different project and load the Foundation.framework and #import the header it works just fine. If I unlink the framework I can't find it to re-link again. Has anyone else had this kind of problem? Did I download it wrong somewhere? I have a very difficult time finding where exactly the Xcode UI links stuff, apple must get a kick out of frustrating people, so if anyone has anything they can think of please give me some feedback, I'm horribly confused right now. • Boost Asio UDP retrieve last packet in socket buffer

  I have been messing around Boost Asio for some days now but I got stuck with this weird behavior. Please let me explain. Computer A is sending continuos udp packets every 500 ms to computer B, computer B desires to read A's packets with it own velocity but only wants A's last packet, obviously the most updated one. It has come to my attention that when I do a: mSocket.receive_from(boost::asio::buffer(mBuffer), mEndPoint); I can get OLD packets that were not processed (almost everytime). Does this make any sense? A friend of mine told me that sockets maintain a buffer of packets and therefore If I read with a lower frequency than the sender this could happen. ¡? So, the first question is how is it possible to receive the last packet and discard the ones I missed? Later I tried using the async example of the Boost documentation but found it did not do what I wanted. http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_36_0/doc/html/boost_asio/tutorial/tutdaytime6.html From what I could tell the async_receive_from should call the method "handle_receive" when a packet arrives, and that works for the first packet after the service was "run". If I wanted to keep listening the port I should call the async_receive_from again in the handle code. right? BUT what I found is that I start an infinite loop, it doesn't wait till the next packet, it just enters "handle_receive" again and again. I'm not doing a server application, a lot of things are going on (its a game), so my second question is, do I have to use threads to use the async receive method properly, is there some example with threads and async receive? How can i achieve this? I have used fgets(line,sizeof(line),file); but it starts reading from the beginning. I don't have the exact line number to start and stop reading since the file is written by another C code. But there are these identifiers startread and stopread to identify whereto start reading. • Is there a max recommended size on bundling js/css files due to chunking or packet loss?

  So we all have heard that its good to bundle your javascript. Of course it is, but it seems to me that the story is too simple. See if my logic makes sense here. Obviously fewer HTTP requests is fewer round trips and hence better. However - and I don't know much about bare http - aren't http responses sent in chunks? And if a file is larger than one of those chunks doesn't it have to be downloaded as multiple (possibly synchronous?) round trips? As opposed to this, several requests for files just under the chunking size would arrive much quicker since modern web browsers download resources like javascripts in parallel. Even if chunking is not an issue, it seems like there would be some max recommended size just due to likelyhood of packet loss alone since a bundled file must wait till it is entirely downloaded to execute, versus the more lenient native rule that scripts must execute in order. Obviously there's also matters of browser caching and code volatility to consider but can someone confirm this or explain why I'm off base? Does anyone have any numbers to put to it?

Can anybody help?

• How to start with entity framework and service oriented architecture?

  At work I need to create a new web application, that will connection to an MySql Database. (So far I only have expercience with Linq-To-Sql classes and MSSQL Servers.) My superior tells me to use the entity framework (he probably refers to Linq-To-Entity) and provide everything as a service based architecture. Unfortunatly nobody at work has experience with that framework and with a real nice server oriented architecture. (till now no customer wanted to pay for architecture that he can't see. This speficic project I'm leading will be long-term, meaning multiple years, so it would be best to design it the way, that multiple targetting plattforms like asp.net, c# wpf, ... could use it) For now, the main target plattform is ASP.net So I do have the following questions: 1) Where can I read best what's really behind service oriented architecture (but for now beginner tutorials work fine as well) and how to do it in best practise? 2) So far I can't seem a real difference between Linq-To-Sql classes and the information I've google so far on the 'entity framework'. So, whats the difference? Where do I find nice tutorials for it. 3) Is there any difference in the entity framework regarding the database server (MSSQL or MySQL). If not, does that mean that code snipperts I will stumble across will word database independent? 4) I do you Visual Studio 2010. Do I have to regard something specific?

• Deploying a WAR to tomcat only using a context descriptor

  i need to deploy a web application in WAR format to a remote tomcat6 server. The thing is that i don't want to do that the easy way, meaning not just copy/paste the WAR file to /webapps. So the second choice is to create a unique "Context Descriptor" and pointing this out to the WAR file. (Hope i got that right till here) So i have a few questions: Is the WAR file allowed to be anywhere in the file system? Meaning can i copy the WAR file anywhere in the remote file system, except /webapps or any other folder of the tomcat6 installation? Is there an easy way to test whether the deployment was successful or not? Without using any browser or anything, since i'm reaching to the remote server only via SSH and terminal. (I'm thinking ping?) Is it normal that the startup.sh/shutdown.sh don't exist? I'm not the admin of the server and don't know how the tomcat6 is installed. But i'm sure that in my local tomcat installations these files are in /bin and ready to use. I mean you can still start/restart/stop the tomcat etc., but not with the these -standard?- scripts.   Let say I have three thread handles HandleList[0] = hThread1; HandleList[1] = hThread2; HandleList[2] = hThread3; /*All the above are of type HANDLE*/ Before closing the application, I want the thread to get its task done. So I want to make app wait till thread completes. So I do, WaitForMultipleObjects(3, HandleList, TRUE, INFINITE ); By this I'm able to make the thread, complete its task. But control never move to next line after the call to WaitForMultileObjects irrespective of all thread completing its task. If I use, some seconds instead of INFINITE, it comes to next line after that many secs, irrspective of whether thread completes its task or not. WaitForMultipleObjects(3, HandleList, TRUE, 10000 ); My problem here is, I'm can't go for seconds, as I may not be sure whether the threads will complete its task with the given time. To list my problem in simple words, I want all my thread to finish the task, before I close my app. How can I achieve it using WaitForMultipleObjects API?

  I got a strange problem, I never actually expirienced this before, here is the code of the server (client is firefox in this case), the way I create it: _Socket = new Socket( AddressFamily.InterNetwork, SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp ); _Socket.Bind( new IPEndPoint( Settings.IP, Settings.Port ) ); _Socket.Listen( 1000 ); _Socket.Blocking = false; the way i accept connection: while( _IsWorking ) { if( listener.Socket.Poll( -1, SelectMode.SelectRead ) ) { Socket clientSocket = listener.Socket.Accept(); clientSocket.Blocking = false; clientSocket.SetSocketOption( SocketOptionLevel.Tcp, SocketOptionName.NoDelay, true ); } } So I'm expecting it hang on listener.Socket.Poll till new connection comes, but after first one comes it hangs on poll forever. I tried to poll it constantly with smaller delay, let's say 10 microseconds, then it never goes in SelectMode.SelectRead. I guess it maybe somehow related on client's socket reuse? Maybe I don't shutdown client socket propertly and client(firefox) decides to use an old socket? I disconnect client socket this way: Context.Socket.Shutdown( SocketShutdown.Both ); // context is just a wrapper around socket Context.Socket.Close(); What may cause that problem?

• How to resolve the only ImagePicker control view in landscap mode and whole application in portrait mode?

  I have tried almost all the answers during last two days provided by Google and SO but no luck :( What I want is my whole application is in portrait mode only. And it working fine in ios 6+. The only support required at now. But the problem is I need to launch UIImagePickerViewController with image source type camera in only landscap mode. What I tried till now is : (1) I try to create one category for UIImagePickerController for orientation. -(BOOL)shouldAutorotate { return NO; } -(NSUInteger)supportedInterfaceOrientations { return UIInterfaceOrientationMaskLandscape; } - (UIInterfaceOrientation)preferredInterfaceOrientationForPresentation { return UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft; } Like this. But the camera view is not proper aligned. It just follows the orientation of device with some +/- 90 angle but not what I required. Even the button of the camera shown by camera view as camera control is also follows the camera view, ie. the view is rotated to 90 anti clock vise and stays to that way. Is there any way to use the camera with proper alignment? or have to use other framework to work with it? Please help me. I stuck with it for last two days.

If I'm using long double then I assume that my answers are good till 15 digits after the decimal point. Am I right? Thanks a lot...

  I have been trying to get this effect for a couple of hours now and I must admit I am failing at it. I am trying to construct a DIV that accepts a particular number of items (say 5), when the 6th item is added, the first item that was aded should be removed (first-in-first-out). The feel should have some kind of a fadeIn and fadeOut. • What is the right path for PHP includes on a Mac?

  Running Mac OS X 10.5.8, with PHP 5.2.11 Pre-installed. Using Coda 1.6.10. I'm writing PHP files, and then preview them running from file, not server. This was working fine till I tried PHP includes. These don't work as a relative path, only as an absolute from the root of the drive. Is there any way I can use statements like include_once "common/header.php"; without specifying my entire file path like so : include_once "/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/neil/Desktop/Website/ColoredLists_v1.0/common/base.php"; ,where ColoredLists_v1.0 is the directory with all the website files in it. I tried solutions like prepending _SERVER[DOCUMENT_ROOT] or dirname(File) to the file paths, but that didn't work as the variables were not set. Is there any easy way to do this, or a configuration I can change so that it looks in a specific directory by default instead of looking at the drive root? Currently, echo_include_path shows .: When I include this line at the start of the script, it works: set_include_path('/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/neil/Desktop/Website/ColoredLists_v1.0'); However, if I want to do this for all my scripts, I can't seem to make the change permanent. Even after I edited the Unix include_path in my php.ini, it doesn't seem to work.

  Hi All, I have looked at most threads here about Doubly linked lists but still unclear about the following. I am practicing the Goodrich and Tamassia book in Java. About doubly linked lists, please correct me if I am wrong, it is different from a singly linked list in that a node could be inserted anywhere, not just after the head or after the tail using both the next and prev nodes available, while in singly linked lists, this insertion anywhere in the list is not possible ? If one wants to insert a node in a doubly linked list, then the default argument should be either the node after the to-be inserted node or node before the to-be inserted node ? But if this is so, then I don't understand how to pass the node before or after. Should we be displaying all nodes that were inserted till now and ask the user to select the node before or after which some new node is to be inserted ? My doubt is how to pass this default node. Because I assume that will require the next and prev nodes of these nodes as well. For e.g, Head<-A<-B<-C<-D<-E<-tail If Z is the new node to be inserted after say D, then how should node D be passed ? I am confused with this though it seems pretty simple to most. • How to parse (infinite) nested object notation?

  I am currently breaking my head about transforming this object hash: "food": { "healthy": { "fruits": ['apples', 'bananas', 'oranges'], "vegetables": ['salad', 'onions'] }, "unhealthy": { "fastFood": ['burgers', 'chicken', 'pizza'] } } to something like this: food:healthy:fruits:apples food:healthy:fruits:bananas food:healthy:fruits:oranges food:healthy:vegetables:salad food:healthy:vegetables:onions food:unhealthy:fastFood:burgers food:unhealthy:fastFood:chicken food:unhealthy:fastFood:pizza In theory it actually is just looping through the object while keeping track of the path and the end result. Unfortunately I do not know how I could loop down till I have done all nested. var path; var pointer; function loop(obj) { for (var propertyName in obj) { path = propertyName; pointer = obj[propertyName]; if (pointer typeof === 'object') { loop(pointer); } else { break; } } }; function parse(object) { var collection = []; }; There are two issues which play each out: If I use recurse programming it looses the state of the properties which are already parsed. If I do not use it I cannot parse infinite. Is there some idea how to handle this? Regards
