• How to efficiently manage files on a filesystem in Java?

  I am creating a few JAX-WS endpoints, for which I want to save the received and sent messages for later inspection. To do this, I am planning to save the messages (XML files) into filesystem, in some sensible hierarchy. There will be hundreds, even thousands of files per day. I also need to store metadata for each file. I am considering to put the metadata (just a couple of fields) into database table, but the XML file content itself into files in a filesystem in order not to bloat the database with content data (that is seldomly read). Is there some simple library that helps me in saving, loading, deleting etc. the files? It's not that tricky to implement it myself, but I wonder if there are existing solutions? Just a simple library that already provides easy access to filesystem (preferrably over different operating systems). Or do I even need that, should I just go with raw/custom Java?

• Parsing Serialized JSON DataSet using Jquery

  Hello all, and thanks for reading. I wrote a web service which is called through jsonp, and returns a .Net 3.5 DataSet which I then want to parse using jquery. It appears that the getJson() method is working fine as far as parsing the json goes. • How to organize code using an optional assembly reference?

  I am working on a project and want to optionally use an assembly if available. This assembly is only available on WS 2008 R2, and my ideal product whould be a common binary for both computers with and without the assembly. However, I'm primarily developing on a Windows 7 machine, where I cannot install the assembly. How can I organize my code so that I can (with minimum changes) build my code on a machine without the assembly and secondly, how do I ensure that I call the assembly functions only when it is present. (NOTE : The only use of the optional assembly is to instantiate a class in the library and repeatedly call a (single) function of the class, which returns a boolean. The assembly is fsrmlib, which exposes advanced file system management operations on WS08R2.) I'm currently thinking of writing a wrapper class, which will always return true if the assembly is not present. Is this the right way to go about doing this?

The client will POST User class so i want to keep the values in the log. Is there any method in jax-ws to prints out this object as xml? • GWT and a jaxb objects

  I am trying to use GWT to build objects on the client side that would be sent to a web service elsewhere. These objects are generate through JAX-WS which I am pretty sure uses jaxb to build objects from the xsds that are in the wsdl. Anyhow, GWT was supposed to be able to support this by ignoring annotations or whatever, but it isn't working for me. Here is one of the errors that I am getting: Line 4: The import javax.xml.bind cannot be resolve I am using GWT 2 and the Google plugin for Eclipse.

• Preventing Netbeans JAXB generation trashing classes

  I'm developing a SOAP service using JAX-WS and JAXB under Netbeans 6.8, and getting a little frustrated with Netbeans trashing my work every time the XSD schema my JAXB bindings are based upon changes. To elaborate, the IDE automatically generates classes bound to the schema, which can then be (un)marshalled from/to XML using JAXB. To these classes I've added extra methods to (for example) convert to and from separate classes designed to be persisted to database with JPA. The problem is that whenever the schema changes and I rebuild, these classes are regenerated, and all my custom methods are deleted. I can manually replace them by copy-pasting from a backup file, but that is rather time-consuming and tedious. As I'm using an iterative design approach, the schema is changing rather frequently and I'm wasting an awful lot of time whenever it does, simply to reinstate my previous code. While the IDE automatically regenerating the JAXB-bound classes is entirely reasonable and I don't mean to imply otherwise, I was wondering if anyone had any bright ideas as to how to prevent my extra work having to be manually reinstated every time my schema changes?

• WebSocket support on mobile devices

  For an Android multiplayer game's communication between players I'm using a WebSocket server and TooTallNate's Java library on the client side to enable WebSocket support in the Android app. So just to point it out clearly, WebSocket support in mobile browsers is not important to me. Unfortunately, users report that they're experiencing problems such as connection failures or unreceived messages. Is that a general problem of WebSockets on mobile devices (blocked ports, firewalls, mobile Internet connection) or is that probably a flaw in the client side code? Do you have experience with WebSocket client libraries such as the one above? I've just discovered autobahn.ws for Android - but I don't know if it's worth switching from my current library (see above). What about WAMP? Is WebSocket technology not exactly the adequate solution so that I should use the sub-protocol (?) WAMP?

• ASMX Web Service - "This web service is using http://tempuri.org/ as its default namespace." message

  I've created a web service using Visual Studio ( 2005 - I know I'm old school ) and it all compiles fine but when it opens I get warned thus: This web service does not conform to WS-I Basic Profile v1.1. And furthermore: This web service is using http://tempuri.org/ as its default namespace. Which would be fine except my service begins thus: [WebService(Namespace = "http://totally-not-default-uri.com/servicename")] Searching the entire solution folder for "tempuri" returns nothing. I can't find it mentioned in any configuration page acessible from Visual Studio. And yet it's right there in the wsdl:definitions list for the xmlns:tns attribute on the web service descriptor page when I view it through the browser and as targetNamespace in the same tag. I'm viewing it using Visual Studio's "debug" mode with the built in server from that. Seems like something has got cached somewhere but I can't work out what and where- I've tried stopping and restarting the server, cleaning and rebuilding the service and going through the associated text config files with a text editor but no dice. Any idea what is going on?

  Hi. I have some web services and I am creating a web client using ws-import. When creating the client I have this line: MyServiceService service = new MyServiceService(); It works fine as it is. I have the same web services running on another server and I was wondering if I could access them using the same client. Is it possible to change the wsdl url of the client? Ctrl-Space in Eclipse gives me 2 parameters which I can enter into MyServiceService which are URL arg0 and Qname arg1. Is this what I'm looking for? • Axis xsd:dateTime issue

  Here is the whole thing. I 'm using a webservice, with wsdl2java I generate classes and communicate with another application. Problem is , when I use a method from my generated WS client that is resulting in data that contains some object with data in format xsd:dateTime(Axis 1.4), and that data is represensted by java.util.Calendar object in java has time shifted to GMT(about two hours before my time zone). That results in bad data that I have to substract two hours to display correct value. My question is, considering I didn't work on building that webservice(all I have is wsdl url) where is the problem and can I fix it or the problem is at the side of the webservice creator. If I'm it is not clear what I am asking I will gladly explain as much as I can.

  Hi, Is there a way to rollback to a specific starting point. Im looking for something like this. Start specific_point; Now after this, an other application connected with the SAME login will insert & delete datas (webservices with crud operations) for about 2 minutes doing tests. Each webservice call is declared as a transaction with Spring Ws. After that i want to rollback to the specific_point to have a clean database to a known previous state. I know it is possible to make a method that takes a parameter such as List and this generates correctly using JAX-WS.   I want to use a WSDL SOAP based web service in Python. I have looked at the Dive Into Python code but the SOAPpy module does not work under Python 2.5. I have tried using suds which works partly, but breaks with certain types (suds.TypeNotFound: Type not found: 'item'). I have also looked at Client but this does not appear to support WSDL. And I have looked at ZSI but it looks very complex. Does anyone have any sample code for it? The WSDL is https://ws.pingdom.com/soap/PingdomAPI.wsdl and works fine with the PHP 5 SOAP client.
