  How can I filter my results in a Query? example I have 5 Records John,Smith,apple Jane,Doe,apple Fred,James,apple Bill,evans,orange Willma,Jones,grape Now I want a query that would bring me back 3 records with the DISTINCT FRUIT, BUT... and here is the tricky part, I still want the columns for First Name , Last Name. PS I do not care which of the 3 it returns mind you, but I need it to only return 3 (or what ever how many DISTINCT fruit there are. ex return would be John,Smith,apple Bill,evans,orange Willma,Jones,grape Thanks in advance I've been banging my head on this all day.

• Handling button click in ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM

  I have a View in which the user is able to upload a file to the server. In this view I also have 2 buttons: one to Upload a file and other to Download the last file imported. In my Controller I created 2 action methods: Import and Export. How could I manage to redirect each button click to the proper action method in my Controller? I have tried Html.ActionLink: <%= Html.ActionLink("Upload", "Import", "OracleFile")%> <%= Html.ActionLink("Download", "Export", "OracleFile")%> Html.ActionLink didn't do the trick. The action links were taking me to the right Action methods but they were generating a GET request. This way Request.Files.Count = 0. I need a POST request.

• Making a DateTime field in a database automatic?

  I'm putting together a simple test database to learn MVC with. I want to add a DateTime field to show when the record was CREATED. ID = int Name = Char DateCreated = (dateTime, DateTime2..?) I have a feeling that this type of DateTime capture can be done automatically - but that's all I have, a feeling. Can it be done? And if so how? While we're on the subject: if I wanted to include another field that captured the DateTime of when the record was LAST UPDATED how would I do that. I'm hoping to not do this manually.   I'm having a problem where items served by my Squid server are being cached by Limelight for too long, sometimes days. It happens when a piece of content has been static for a long time (weeks) and then undergoes numerous changes in a matter of hours. Limelight gets its content from our Squid server and I'm told that if I can add 'Expires: 15m' in the HTTP header the Squid server sends, Limelight will not cache the image for more than 15 min. Unfortunately, I can fond no setting in Squid that will allow me to add this to the header. • iOS Efficiency File Saving Efficiency

  I was working on my iOS app and my goal is to save a file that I am receiving from the internet bit by bit. My current setup is that I have a NSMutableData object and I add a bit of data to it as I receive my file. After the last "packet" is received, I write the NSData to a file and the process is complete. I'm kind of worried that this isn't the ideal way to do it because of the limitations of RAM in a mobile device and it would be problematic to receive large files. My next thought was to implement a NSFileHandle so that as the file arrives, it would be saved to the disk, rather than the virtual memory. In terms of speed and efficiency, which method do you think will work decently on an iOS device. I am currently using the first, NSMutableData approach. Is it worth changing my app to use the NSFileHandle? Thanks in advance, Guvvy

  I am trying to get the page or last directory name from a url for example if the url is: http://www.example.com/dir/ i want it to return dir or if the passed url is http://www.example.com/page.php I want it to return page Notice I do not want the trailing slash or file extension. I tried this: $regex = "/.*\.(com|gov|org|net|mil|edu)/([a-z_\-]+).*/i"; $name = strtolower(preg_replace($regex,"$2",$url)); I ran this regex in PHP and it returned nothing. (however I tested the same regex in ActionScript and it worked!) So what am I doing wrong here, how do I get what I want? Thanks!!!

  Today I use SQLite and send a database-file with the project. However I want the database to be created when the user first starts the software. Is there a way to copy the code needed to create a database based on the existing database? The problem is that when a user downloads a new version he might be tricked into copying over his last database and lose the data. I'd like a nice way to check the version of the database and modify it if I need new columns or tables etc. Or, if it does not exist at all, create a new database? I know I can probably make create the code to make the database from the beginning but I want it to be based on the existing database I have created by a gui.

  Is there anyway to reinforce pseudo css rules? ie: I have a listing of divs (playlist) which I color with the following rules: #playlist .playlist_item { background: #d6d6d6; } #playlist .playlist_item:nth-child(odd) { background: #b3b3b3; } Now, when a song is playing, I use setInterval and JQuery's .animate function to pulse the background color. When the song is finished I clear the interval, but of course the song's background remains the last color set in the interval. Is there a way to re-set the song's color based on the CSS rule? Otherwise I'll have to keep track of the previous song (which may have changed position, and thus color) or setup distinct background color classes and reset the classes of all the songs in the playlist anytime someone adds, removes, or moves a song in the playlist or a song ends. • Get the date of a given day in a given week...

  i need to start at a year-month and work out what the date it is in a given week, on a given day within that week.. i.e year: 2009 month: 10 week: 5 day-number: 0 would return 2009-10-25 00:00:00 which is a sunday. Notice week 5, there is no day 0 in week 5 in 2009-10 as the sunday in that logical week is 2009-11-01 00:00:00... so week 5 would always return the last possible date for the given day in the given month.. if you havn't guessed already i'm messing with the c struct TIME_ZONE_INFORMATION (link text) which is pretty crazy if i'm fair... Date math and SQL are something to be admired, sadly its something i have never really dug deep into beyond stripping times. Any help would be greatly appriciated. PS: mssql 2005 btw..

  The title for this question pretty much sums up what I'm asking. I've got a list of taxonomy terms, and I'm using a view to display the latest post to each one. I'd like to also display a custom field set up in CCK just under this. Currently, I'm just using "date updated" of the taxonomy term itself which was easy to set up in views. I'd like to drill a little deeper and get the custom "event date" field I've added to the content type last posted to the taxonomy term I'm "viewing". I've got a feeling I'm going to have to write my own database query for this. If (I can avoid that){ How do I set up such a view? } Else{ What's the best practice for including lower level database queries alongside views? }

I got the following: STRING: QUOTE (options {greedy=false;} : . )* QUOTE ; WS : SPACE+ { $channel = HIDDEN; } ; WORD : ~(QUOTE|SPACE)+ ; For the corner cases, it needs to parse: "string" word1" word2 As three tokens: "string" as STRING and word1" and word2 as WORD. • How can I access an ASP.Net 2.0 web service using VB Script?

  I'm trying to find a way to access a web service from a VB Script .vbs file running under wscript.exe. I pulled some sample code from Microsoft but it gives me an error. Dim SOAPClient, Response Set SOAPClient = createobject("MSSOAP.SOAPClient") SOAPClient.mssoapinit("https://www.domain.com/Folder/Service.asmx?WSDL") On that last line I get an error message: WSDLReader: No valid schema specification was found. This version of the SOAP Toolkit only supports 1999 and 2000 XSD schema specifications After getting that message I installed the SOAP 3.0 SDK to make sure I have the most recent version (since it's now deprecated for .Net) but I still get the same error. The reason it needs to be in VB Script is because it's going to be used in a program over which I have no control and it only supports VB Script. Is there a way to get VB Script to be able to parse a newer WSDL file? I do have the source code for the web service. Is there something I can change in the web service to make it schema compatible with the SOAP toolkit?

  Hi there, I have a funny problem I'd like to ask you guys ('n gals) about. I'm importing some module A that is importing some non-existent module B. Of course this will result in an ImportError. This is what A.py looks like import B Now let's import A >>> import A Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "/tmp/importtest/A.py", line 1, in <module> import B ImportError: No module named B Alright, on to the problem. How can I know if this ImportError results from importing A or from some corrupt import inside A without looking at the error's string representation. • Is there any JavaScript Library to intelligently truncate strings?

  I need to truncate strings in a side menu to make the fit into a div without a linebreak. The divs have a fixed width. I'm looking for a library to do that for me. If a string is too long to fit into the div, it should be truncated like: <div>This string is too long</div> == <div>This string is...ong</div> As you can see, the string is not only truncated by an ellipsis but the last three letters are also visible. This is meant to increase readability. The truncation should not care about spaces. Does anyone know of a library that includes such functionality? We're mainly using jQuery throughout the project. • Selenium Grid not always using all of its registered RC's, why?

  My Selenium Grid setup is as follows (all VMs) VM1 - Windows 7 x64 - Grid Hub + 2 RCs registering the default *firefox environment VM2 - Windows XP x32 - 2 RCs registering the default *firefox environment VM3 - Windows XP x32 - 2 RCs registering the default *firefox environment I'm happily using Mbunit and Gallio to drive the Grid, but my problem is that sometimes the Grid hub will stop passing executions over to 1 or more of the RCs, despite their showing available on the hub console. They seem to be happily maintaining their heartbeat back to the hub, but they're never asked to do any more work. This is after they had been executing tests earlier in the test run. Does anybody have any ideas why this should happen? In every case I've observed this behaviour, the last test an RC executed, before it then seemingly gets ignored by the hub, passed, and the session was successfully closed. Interestingly, whenever it happens to more than 1 of the RCs, its always (so far) been the pair that are running on the same VM. Yet they're managing to maintain their heartbeat, so it isn't a network connectivity problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
