    Problem: Occasionally, my Macbook becomes very slow after waking up from sleep I open Activity Monitor and notice some processes like makewhatis are taking 100% CPU I kill the process[es] and then everything works fine again Questions: My guess is that these processes are cron jobs. Is that correct? Is it ok to kill them? Is there a way to make this problem not happen? Is this fixed on Snow Leopard? I'm using Leopard (10.5.8) on a MacBook5,1

  • Sun Grid Engine : jobs are not well balanced

    I use Open Grid Scheduler (a fork/copy of Sun Grid Engine). I have tried this configuration from master: # qconf -mattr exechost complex_values slots=8 slave2 # qconf -mq all.q | grep slots slots 100,[slave1=1],[slave2=8] slave1 is down, then I run 10 qsub with a sleep example (so no CPU consumption) but only 4 jobs are run at the same time on slave2 instead of I have put 8 slots. What does I missed ? PS: my goal is to provide infinite slots to force SGE to schedule only via consummable ressources.

    I am responsible for demonstrating changes to our software every two weeks. Since the software has both telnet and web interfaces, I think it would help the demo go more smoothly if I could embed a web browser and a telnet client or shell directly into presentation slides, like this: My current idea is to write extensions for LibreOffice to do it, but obviously I don't want to reinvent the wheel if I can help it. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this? I prefer PowerPoint 2007 or LibreOffice on Windows 7, but am open to suggestions for any software or OS.

    All emails I send from my new server go to spam in Gmail (and sometimes yahoo). I've never before sent out mass email or spam.   • Importing VMware drive into VirtualBox drive

    I have VMware on my Mac and it crashed. I am unable to access the files used by the VMware. So I downloaded VirtualBox and when I try to add the .vmwarevm file to VirtualBox it says that its unable to read that type. I wasn't sure if there was a way i can get to these files as they are extremely important. I can not shutdown or open my virtual state in VMware whatsoever. Thoughts?

    Hi I've installed docutils on my Mac OS system following the docutils instructions. I've also done: $ sudo cp tools/buildhtml.py tools/rst2html.py /usr/local/bin However, if I open a command line and type rst2html, I get 'command not found'. If I type rst2html.py, there's no problem, so the Python file itself is on my path. How do I get my system to recognize rst2html as a valid command? Thanks!

  • How do you hide Windows 7 Explorer Toolbar and Property Bar?

    In Windows 7, Windows Explorer has a large bar just above the status bar that contains properties of the highlighted item. Is it possible to hide this? It takes up a significant amount of screen space I'd prefer using in the file listing. Also, is it possible to hide the tool bar for the same reason? That's what I'm calling the bar near the top with "Organize, Open, Include in Library, Share With..."

    I have Microsoft Project Professional 2003 installed (11.2.2005.1801.15, SP2). I have been trying to open a MPP file created in a newer version so need the converter, which is part of SP3. But when I try to install the SP3 package (as downloaded from Microsoft's site) I get an error message box: --------------------------- Project 2003 Service Pack 3 (SP3) --------------------------- The expected version of the product was not found on your system. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- Project (and Office) are licensed and otherwise work correctly. What virtual machine software (Virtual PC or VirtualBox or other) would allow this? I read out there that VMware may support this but I am looking for something Open source or free. For example I have two external ips, lets say 194.145.63.1 and 194.145.63.2 set on one network card as 194.145.63.1 - eth0 and 194.145.63.2 -eth0:1 mywebsite.com allows access only from 194.145.63.1 and I want to set my rules like if I hit http://194.145.63.2:8080 to open mywebsite.com trough 194.145.63.1.   • Hosted file is downloaded damaged by IE

    I have a ZIP file hosted via Apache with Akamai as CDN, the problem is when trying to download it with IE (and just IE) it is damaged and I'm unable to open it. Since the problem occurs in other computers in different locations I've discarded network settings (firewall, proxy, etc). I don't even know where start to look? What would be a possible cause for this to happen? UPDATE I'm trying to solve the problem in the server (or CDN), I've verified it's not a client error
