  • Open a chrome tab from delayed javascript window.open

    When I window.open("http://blarg") in chrome, I get a new tab. If I delay the open, say using a jquery $(hrm).animate({},5e3,function(){window.open(url)); it opens the url in a new window with no status bar, etc — if I give it permission to pop-up that is. I'm looking for a way to get the instant behavior, that is, I wish to open a URL after an animation, but still in a new tab. I imagine I could get by with learning a way to instruct chrome to never ever open pop-ups and to always open them in tabs (I imagine there's a webkit setting, why it's not a built in is a mystery); but I'd rather try to find a way to do it from the javascript if possible. I somewhat doubt there's any way to do this though. I'm not aware of any javascript that's tab-aware.

  • Cross browser (chrome/firefox) trying to get top-pos defined in percentage as pixels

    I have a problem whit cross browser output, I'm trying to get the top and left css attribute of a div, but firefox gives me the exact pixel position and Chrome give me the percentage. Example: http://web.cinaird.se/pdf/test.htm CSS #mix{ position:absolute; top: 10px; left: 45%; background-color:#f0f; } jQuery css top: " + $("#mix").css("top") + " <br/>css left: " + $("#mix").css("left") Output Firefox (and IE8): css top: 10px css left: 267.3px Chrome: css top: 10px css left: 45% is there any way to get the same result for both (all) browsers? I would prefer to get a pixel value without any major calculation

    I have some pretty standing flipping action going on: [UIView beginAnimations:@"swapScreens" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromLeft forView:self.view cache:YES]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1.0]; [self.view exchangeSubviewAtIndex:0 withSubviewAtIndex:1]; [UIView commitAnimations]; To Apple's credit, this style of animation is amazingly easy to work with. Very cool, and I've been able to animate transitions, flips, fades etc. throughout the app very easily. Question: During the flip transition, the background visible 'behind' the two views during the flip is white and I'd like it to be black. I've: Set the background of the containing view (self.view above) - no dice. I really thought that would work. Set the background of each view to black - no dice. I didn't think this would work although you give different things a shot to understand better :) Google'd like crazy; keep landing on Safari-related listings. Thanks in advance!

  • Google's OpenID identifier is different depending on the "consumer" domain name. How to avoid potent

    I'm currently testing an OpenID implementation, and I'm noticing that Google sends a different identifier for different consuming host name / domain name, even for the same user. For example, Google sends a different identifier when the requesting site is localhost, compared to the identifier they send when the requesting site is 127.0.0.1 for the same user. Note: I haven't actually tested this using public domain names, but I can't see why the behavior would be any different. My concern with Google's behavior is that if we ever choose to change our website domain name in the future, then users will no longer be able to log in to the website using Google's OpenId as the identity provider. This seems to be a big problem. Am I missing something, or are all OpenID consuming sites faced with this potential problem? I've also tested this with MyOpenId, but the identifier that MyOpenId creates is fixed, so this wouldn't be a problem with them. Thanks.

  • How to store child objects on GAE using JDO from Scala

    Hi, I'm have a parent-child relation between 2 classes, but the child objects are never stored. I do get an warning: "org.datanucleus.store.appengine.MetaDataValidator checkForIllegalChildField: Unable to validate relation net.vermaas.kivanotify.model.UserCriteria.internalCriteria" but it is unclear to me why this occurs. Already tried several alternatives without luck. The parent class is "UserCriteria" which has a List of "Criteria" as children.   • FB.logout not working in IE8

    I've integrated facebook login with my application and I want to logout the user from facebook when he logs out of my application. So I did the following: <a href="<c:url value='/security_logout'/>" onclick="FB.logout();">Logout</a> This works on Firefox and Chrome but doesn't work on IE8. In IE8 the user is logged out of the application but is not logged out of Facebook. Anyone else experiencing this?

  • Unable to persist objects in GAE JDO

    Hello Guys, I am completely fresh to both JDO and GAE, and have been struggling to get my data layer to persist any code at all! The issues I am facing may be very simple, but I just cant seem to find any a way no matter what solution I try. Firstly the problem: (Slightly simplified, but still contains all the info necessary) My data model is as such: User: (primary key) String emailID String firstName Car: (primary key) User user (primary key) String registration String model This was the initial datamodel. I implemented a CarPK object to get a composite primary key of the User and the registration. However that ran into a variety of issues. (Which i will save for another time/question) I then changed the design as such: User: (Unchanged) Car: (primary key) String fauxPK (here fauxPK = user.getEmailID() + SEP + registration) User user String registration String model This works fine for the user, and it can insert and retrieve user objects. However when i try to insert a Car Object, i get the following error: "Cannot have a java.lang.String primary key and be a child object" Found the following helpful link about it: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2063467/persist-list-of-objects Went to the link suggested there, that explains how to create Keys, however they keep talking about "Entity Groups" and "Entity Group Parents". But I cant seem to find any articles or sites that explain what are "Entity Group"s or an "Entity Group Parents" I could try fiddling around some more to figure out if i can store an object somehow, But I am running sort on patience and also would rather understand and implement than vice versa. So i would appreciate any docs (even if its huge) that covers all these points, and preferably has some examples that go beyond the very basic data modeling.   • How can I render an in-memory UIViewController's view Landscape?

    I'm trying to render an in-memory (but not in hierarchy, yet) UIViewController's view into an in-memory image buffer so I can do some interesting transition animations. However, when I render the UIViewController's view into that buffer, it is always rendering as though the controller is in Portrait orientation, no matter the orientation of the rest of the app. How do I clue this controller in?   • Timeout with GAE Java

    Hi, I am having some issues with an app I have deployed on GAE. Specifically, I am intermittently running into the DeadlineExceededException where the server is not responding within the 30 seconds required. What is odd is that the code is not overly complex, it should run in milliseconds. My guess is that the delay is in dealing with the persistence manager and accessing the datastore. 2 questions: 1) What is the best way to track where all of the CPU time on the server is being used up? Log files do not seem helpful and to make things more complicated the code runs very fast when I am running it locally 2) Any tips / best practices in dealing with the 30 second exception? What are the biggest drivers of this? Datastore? HTTP requests / responses? Thanks

    <h1> <a>Lorem ipsum <span>dolor</span> </a> </h1> In Chrome the contents of the SPAN have a line break in front of them, "dolor" is displayed on the line below, even with display:inline explicitly set. Expected it to display on same line as "Lorem ipsum". Displays fine in IE8 and FF3.5. Any fixes? Chrome 5.0.375.38 on Win7 x64

  • Static files in (Java) App Engine not accessible.

    The example documentation says that you simply need to place your files in war/ (or a subdirectory) and they should be accessible from the host (as long as they aren't JSPs or in WEB-INF). For example, if you place foo.css in war/ then you should be able to access it at http://localhost:8080/foo.css. However, this isn't working for me at all. NONE of my static files are accessible. The docs on appengine-web.xml say that you can also specifically denote certain types as static. I've tried this as well and it makes no difference. Am I missing something obvious? UPDATE: Turns out one of the mappings in my web.xml was a little too aggressive. The following was the culprit: <servlet> <servlet-name>Main</servlet-name> <servlet-class>MainServlet</servlet-class> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>Main</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> It seems that it was grabbing everything that wasn't grabbed be one of the other rules, which I don't understand because there was no * on the end of the url-pattern. It also seems to be directly contradictory to the documentation that says: Note: Static files, files that are served verbatim to users such as images, CSS or JavaScript, are handled separately from paths mentioned in the deployment descriptor. A request for a URL path that matches a path to a file in the WAR that's considered a static file will serve the file, regardless of servlet and filter mappings in the deployment descriptor. You can exclude files from those treated as static files using the appengine-web.xml file. So, how can I have a rule that matches the base of my domain (eg. http://www.example.com/) and still allows the static files to filter through?

  • Assigning a view controller to be the delegate of a subview which is not directly descendent?

    I am writing an iphone app where in numerous cases a subview needs to talk to its superview. For example: View A has a table view that contains photos A has a subview B which allows users to add photos, upon which I want to auto append them to A's table view So far I have been creating a @protocol in B, and registering A as the delegate. The problem in my case is that B has a subview C that allows users to add content, and I want actions in C to invoke changes in its grandparent, A. Currently I am working around this by passing around a self pointer to my base view controller (C.delegate = B.delegate), but it doesn't seem very proper to me. Any thoughts? (and/or general advice on code organization when all sort of subviews needs to talk to superviews would be greatly appreciated) Thanks!
