• Database Schema for survey polling application with a default choice.

  I have a survey application, where users can create surveys and give choices for every survey. Other users can choose their answers for the aurvey and then polls are taken to get the results of the survey. I already have the database schema for this Questions id, user_id, category_id, question_text, date_started Answers id, user_id, question_id, choice_id, explanation, date_added Choices id, question_id, choice_text As for now, users can choose their own choice answers to their surveys... but I want to be able to add a default "I dont care" or "I dont know" choice to every survey for people who simply dont care about the topic to take sides or who cant choose. So lets say theres a survey that asks who was a better president, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagon, or Richard Nixon... I want to be able to add a default "I dont care" option. I was thinking to just add that extra choice EVERY TIME a user creates a survey, but then I wouldn't have much control over the text for that choice after that survey has been created, and I want to know if theres a better way to do this, like create another table or something Thanks

  Right now I am using something like this to delete duplicates in mysql table : delete t2 from my_table1 as t1, my_table1 as t2 where t1.TestCase = t2.TestCase and t2.id > t1.id; say I have a structure like this : ID TestCAse Result 1 T1 PASS 2 T2 FAIL 3 T3 FAIL 4 T3 PASS now, in the above case T3 is duplicate entry, and if I use the SQL that I mentioned above, it would delete 4th row where the result is PASS, but this is the row that I want to keep and I want row 3 to get deleted which is FAIL.   I have an object of type list from which I wish to use to populate a treeview in asp.net c#. Each object item has: id | Name | ParentId so for example: id | Name | ParentId ------------------------- 1 | Alice | 0 2 | Bob | 1 3 | Charlie | 1 4 | David | 2 In the above example, the parent would be Alice having two children Bob and Charlie. David is the child of Bob. I have had many problems trying to dynamically populate the treeview recursively in c# ASP.NET Does any one have a simple solution? Btw: you can use People.Id, People.Name and People.ParentId to access the members since it is an object belonging to list. I can post you my code so far (many attempts made) but not sure how useful it will be.

• setUserCredentials from Google data api is stuck

  Well, since I am facing some issues with OAuth implementation, I decided to go back to normal method where users will input their login id and password and I will use them in my code to validate their google account to fetch calendar information. So when user enters login id and password, the page is getting stuck. When I check the code, setUserCredentials is the method where it is getting stuck. But when I enter my login id and password and debug on development site, it works fine. There is no problem when I debug. And importantly , the problem appears for first time only, once I debug the code and next time I try it without breakpoint, it works fine. Does anyone know why setUserCredentials takes time or any way I can track why it is taking so time? I have asked the same question on Google data api forum, but nobody answered it.

  I have two tables: Users: ID, first_name, last_name Networks: user_id, friend_id, status I want to select all values from the users table but I want to display the status of specific user (say with id=2) while keeping the other ones as NULL. For instance: If I have users: 1 John Smith 2 Tom Summers 3 Amy Wilson And in networks: user_id friend_id status 2 1 friends I want to do search for John Smith for all other users so I want to get: id first_name last_name status 2 Tom Summers friends 3 Amy Wilson NULL I tried doing LEFT JOIN and then WHERE statement but it didn't work because it excluded the rows that have relations with other users but not this user. I can do this using UNION statement but I was wondering if it's at all possible to do it without UNION.

  Using VS 2010, with ASP.NET, and .NET 3.0, and C#... When I use a System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSource and call its Insert() method to insert a new row, and that table has an identity column, I'd like my method to return the value of that column. For example, in my SQL 2005 table, I've got: Customer.Id Customer.FirstName Customer.LastName Where Customer.Id is an identity colum. When I call my method InsertNewCustomerRecord( "John", "Smith" ), I'd like to be able to return the Customer.Id that gets automatically generated in the database.   Let's say I have the following tables: PartyRelationship EffectiveDatedAttributes PartyRelationship contains a varchar column called class. EffectiveDatedAttributes contains a foreign key to PartyRelationship called ProductAuthorization. If I run this: select unique eda.productauthorization from effectivedatedattributes eda inner join partyrelationship pr on eda.productauthorization = pr.ID where pr.class = 'com.pmc.model.bind.ProductAuthorization' it returns a list of ProductAuthorization IDs. I need to take this list of IDs and insert a new row into EffectiveDatedAttributes for every ID, containing the ID as well as some other data. How would I iterate over the returned IDs from the previous select statement in order to do this?

It appears to be removing the shared_ptr from the container. The allhosts container currently has one functioning index that relies on the host's ID. If I introduce an ordered second index that calls on a member function (Host::getAge()), where the age changes over the course of the simulation, is the index always going to be updated when I refer to it? What is the difference between using the MultiIndex's modify to modify the age of the underlying object versus the approach I show above? I'm vaguely confused about what is assumed/required to be constant in MultiIndex. Thanks in advance. • Django BigInteger auto-increment field as primary key?

  Hi all, I'm currently building a project which involves a lot of collective intelligence. Every user visiting the web site gets created a unique profile and their data is later used to calculate best matches for themselves and other users. By default, Django creates an INT(11) id field to handle models primary keys. I'm concerned with this being overflown very quickly (i.e. ~2.4b devices visiting the page without prior cookie set up). How can I change it to be represented as BIGINT in MySQL and long() inside Django itself? I've found I could do the following (http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/models/fields/#bigintegerfield): class MyProfile(models.Model): id = BigIntegerField(primary_key=True) But is there a way to make it autoincrement, like usual id fields? Additionally, can I make it unsigned so that I get more space to fill in? Thanks!

• Ubuntu 12.04 boot degraded raid

  I've installed Ubuntu 12.04.1 in a new server and set up the 4 hard drives with 3 RAID 1 devices, the configuration is such that the first two drives have md0 (swap space) and md1 (/) with the third and fourth drives having md2 (/var). I've been testing the operation under a drive failure and found that the system boots fine if I remove disk two but if I remove disk one then the system gets to grub and then just restarts. I'm confused as to why grub appears to be loading properly from disk two but then the boot fails. I've tried to copy the MBR from disk 1 to 2: dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb bs=512 count=1 but this didn't make a difference. How can I do this with a regular expression? Edit: I'm not looking for a magic bullet to handle every edge case in every situation. We should all be weary of using regex to parse HTML but, in this particular case and for my particular need, regex IS the solution...I just need a bit of help getting the right expression.

  Let's say a question has many tags, via a join table called taggings. I do a join thus: SELECT DISTINCT `questions`.id FROM `questions` LEFT OUTER JOIN `taggings` ON `taggings`.taggable_id = `questions`.id LEFT OUTER JOIN `tags` ON `tags`.id = `taggings`.tag_id I want to order the results according to a particular tag name, eg 'piano', so that piano is at the top, then by all the other tags in alphabetical order. Currently i'm using this order clause: ORDER BY (tags.name = 'piano') desc, tags.name Which is going completely wrong - the first results i get back aren't even tagged with 'piano' at all. I think my problem is that i need to group the tag names somehow and do my ordering test against that: i think that doing it against the straight tags.name isn't working due to the structure of the resultant join table (it does work if i just do a simple select on the tags table) but i can't get my head around how to fix it. grateful for any advice, max

  At the moment I have something like this ` <%# Eval("orderBy").ToString()%) <%# Eval("question").ToString()% " type="radio" id="True" value="True" class="styled" / " type="radio" id="False" value="False" class="styled" / ` And in the code behind I caputure the values as Request.Form("question1") for example and this all works fine Now I am wondering how to add validation to this, I think i have to change to asp Radio Button control but i cant see how i could add my dynamic radiobutton names in there with my id from stored procedure. Also I would like to add the validation to the top of the screen as a validation summary Any Ideas ?
