  Hello Folks I have this new requirement to develop a software which is a large scale image up loader in a web application. I was able to do the same using swing contains several feature like drag and drop, progress bar, remove file / files , modify, limit file size, verify file information, timer, verify at run time ..and its a very powerful tool which uploads images. I would like to do the same in web based app, like user selects 200 images process it and click upload and it should start uploading, like to know any feasible frameworks or any API's which help me do this faster and achieve the same kind of functionality.   Here's my situation: My files are on a remote server (Linux). When I want to edit a file at home on my Windows machine, my editor (PSPad) downloads a copy. When I save the document, my editor uploads it to the server, overwriting the previous version. Is there a version control system, preferably GUI driven, that can handle this situation? Additional info: I probably can't install elaborate software on the remote server, but can on my own computer. Concurrent Versions System (CVS) is installed on the remote server. Uploading/downloading goes through an FTP-to-SFTP bridge set up with Bitvise Tunnelier.

  I'm getting the following error while uploading a zip archive. Warning: ZipArchive::extractTo(C:\xampplite\htdocs\testsite/wp-content/themes/mytheme//styles\mytheme/Thumbs.db) [ziparchive.extractto]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in C:\xampplite\htdocs\testsite\wp-content\themes\mythem\uploader.php on line 17 The thing I can't quite figure is that I don't see a thumbs.db file in either the zip archive or the destination folder that was created (the upload still processes, I just get these errors). • App Engine: Launching a script upon update/run

  Hi all. I'm working with App Engine and I'm thinking about using the LESS CSS extension in my next project. There's no good LESS CSS library written in Python so I went on with the original Ruby one which works great and out of the box. I'd like App Engine to execute lessc ./templates/css/style.less before running the development server and before uploading the files to the cloud. What is the best way to automate this? I'm thinking: #run.sh: lessc ./templates/css/style.less .gae/dev_appserver.py --use_sqlite . And #deploy.sh lessc ./templates/css/style.less .gae/appcfg.py update . Am I on the correct path or is there a more elegant way of doing things, perhaps at the appcfg.py level? Thanks.

• Can Uploadify send e-mail on complete?

  Uploadify is a jQuery/Flash plugin for uploading multiple files. It's working great, except I can't figure out how trigger e-mail when all files are complete. If I try to add something like <% SendEmail(); %> to the onAllComplete parameter, it just sends the e-mail when the page loads. Is there a way to do this within the handler recommended here or from this post? Or is there some way to trigger a post in the onAllComplete parameter?

  I've been given a big chunk of code which eventually calls upon the SetDocsMetaInfo method from Frontpage Server Extension RPC. This is easy enough for most document uploading and property updating, except when dealing with multichoice fields. I've been scouring through MSDN and I can't find anything on how to fill in multiple values for such a field. The general syntax for properties is something like this: [SR|default], with the type (string in this case) followed by a pipe and then the value to be written. • How to stream a WAV file?

  I'm writing an app where I record audio and upload the audio file over the web. In order to speed up the upload I want to start uploading before I've finished recording. The file I'm creating is a WAV file. My plan was to use multiple data chunks. So instead of the normal encoding (RIFF, fmt , data) I’m using (RIFF, fmt , data, data, ..., data). The first issue is that the RIFF header wants the total length of the whole file, but that is of course not known when streaming the audio (I’m now using an arbitrary number). The other problem is that I'm not sure if it's valid since Audacity doesn't recognise the file, and Windows Media Player opens the file but plays only a very small part. I've been reading WAV specs but haven’t found an answer. Any suggestions?

• Facebook photo additions showing as separate / individual posts

  When posting additional photos to an existing Facebook album, each individual photo is being displayed on the mobile Facebook view as a separate post. Desktop display still groups them (correctly) into 1 album and shows as a single post. For instance, if I add 20 photos to an album, the people who have liked my page will see 20 individual posts in their feed from my account on their mobile devices. This has been happening for about 2 weeks now as far as I've noticed. My upload process has not changed. I should note that I've noticed this behavior by uploading via Lightroom as well as through the direct Facebook interface. Has anyone else experienced this? Did something change that I am not aware of? Thanks.

• Plotting 500 US cities to a map

  I have 500 US cities in a MySQL table. I have the city name, state, longitude and latitude. I want to visually see these cities plotted on a map of the US. How can I do this? Are they any free tools available? Google Maps or Google Earth maybe? Obviously, it would take forever to plot each city individually. So I need a quick way of doing it, either through a program or by exporting the table as a spreadsheet and uploading it into some kind of generator that will do the plotting for me.   At the end of the README.txt file which is located in the example directory under solr, I find this line: NOTE: This Solr example server references SolrCell jars outside of the server directory with statements in the solrconfig.xml. If you make a copy of this example server and wish to use the ExtractingRequestHandler (SolrCell), you will need to copy the required jars into solr/lib or update the paths to the jars in your solrconfig.xml What does this mean? Do I have to make some adjustment before uploading solr to my server? Also, if you know, what is Solr-nightly:s difference to regular solr? The tutorial states "solr-nightly.zip" but on their download section I cant find it.

  Hi! I am currently develope something using asp.net MVC, im still quite not experience with it so please help me out. I have a form for user to upload Video. The current ideal concept to upload to remote server is to Upload it to to the current server, then use FTP to push it to a remote server. For me, this is not quite fast since you have to upload to current server (Time x1) and then the current server push to new server (Time x2) so it's double the time. So my idea is to make user upload it to the current server, and WHILE user is uploading, the current server add the file to DB and also send the file to the remote server at the same time using SFTP... is it posible and are there any security hole in this concept? • problem with 512x512 app icon in iTunes Connect

  I'm uploading my app to App Store and I created it in iTunes Connect. I just uploaded my 512x512px icon and then I opened Version Summary page to verify my information... I've got a set of icon that just have gloss effect. In Version Summary page I see my 512x512px icon with automatic gloss added. Is there a way to prevent this? My large app icon mustn't have gloss... In my info.plist I added the line "Icon already includes gloss effects" and I checked the box near it... Can anyone help me?

• Ruby on Rails: restrict file type with Paperclip using a flash uploader

  I have a pretty basic Paperclip Upload model that is attached to a User model through has_many, and am using Uploadify to do the actual uploading. Flash sends all files with the content type of "application/octet-stream" so using validates_attachment_content_type rejects all files. In my create action, I am able to get the mime-type from the original file name, but only after it's been saved, with: def coerce(params) h = Hash.new h[:upload] = Hash.new h[:upload][:attachment].content_type = MIME::Types.type_for(h[:upload][:attachment].original_filename).to_s ... end and def create diff_params = coerce(params) @upload = Upload.new(diff_params[:upload]) ... end What would be the best way of white listing file types? I am thinking a before_validation method, but I'm not sure how that would work. Any ideas would be welcome.

  I have a folder in my web server used for the users to upload photos using an ASP page. Is it safe enough to give IUSR write permissions to the folder? Must I secure something else? I am afraid of hackers bypassing the ASP page and uploading content directly to the folder. I'm using ASP classic and IIS6 on Windows 2003 Server. The upload is through HTTP, not FTP.   I have a flash file uploader that allows uploading multiple files in one shot. Now on one click how many times will the hanlder is supposed to be called? I am seeing that the ProcessRequest() of the HttpHandler is getting called for each of the files I upload. If I upload 5 files, then the Process request gets called 5 times. This seems odd. I would expect the handler to be called just once where I will loop the Can anyone confirm this behavior or I am missing something?

• Loading an XML file with todays date in the filename... need to fallback to old file if one with tod

  So here is my question. Using javascript/jQuery I am currently loading in an XML file that has a file name such as carousel_large_2010-06-08.xml.. the way I am doing it is checked for todays date then grabbing a file that has that date in the filename... the issue is sometimes they wont be uploading a new file for a given day so it needs to fallback to a older date that exists.. Wondering how to do it?   Scenario: I'm working on a rails app that will take data entry in the form of uploaded text-based files. I need to parse these files before importing the data. I can choose the file type uploaded to the app; the software used by those uploading has several export options regarding file type. While it may be insignificant, I was wondering if there is a specific file type that is most efficiently parsed. This question can be viewed as language-independent, I believe. (While XML is commonly parsed, it is not a feasible file type for sake of this project.)

• Project hosting on Google Code. Files are cahced?

  I do not really understand how Google Code handles file versioning. I am building a jQuery plugin that anyone can access. Like so: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://jquery-old-browser-warning.googlecode.com/files/jquery.browser-warning.js"></script> This script accesses other files on the same project (via ajax). The problem is, that when I upload a new file, it just seems like there aren't any changed to it. Google recommends that new files should have new names. But then I would have to change the filenames that the script loads. But then I would have to change the script file as well, and that would break everybodys implementation (with the script-tag above) Is there a way to force a file to change when uploading with the same filename? PS: If I go directly to the project page's file list. Then I do get the file with the updated content. But as I said, not when getting it through ajax.

  Hi everyone, We're in the middle of making a new e-commerce related PHP application and we have come to the point where we have started to think about how we should solve templating for our customers needs. What we would like to do is offer our customers the possibility of uploading/modifying templates to suit their company:s profile. The initial thought is that we shall not reinvent the wheel, so instead letting our customers upload their templates with FTP, so there will be basic HTML skills required. For those customers that want to modify/customize template and doesnt have the knowledge, we offer that service as well. I know that there's a number of issues to solve before this could be considered safe, like preventing XSS and writing scripts that check through each uploaded file for potential security threats and so on. Of course, there are some part that probably will be to complex for the customer to modify by themselves, so maybe this approach won't apply to all<< template files in the frontend application. But besides that, what would be a good way to handle this?

• Attaching a function to the parent window from an iframe and getting proper scope

  I working on adding file uploading to my web application. I'm using an iframe to post my upload. When my php script processes the upload it writes some JavaScript to the iframe. This JavaScript is attempting to attach a function to the parent, this works, but when this function actually gets called it doesn't have the correct scope. I've tried adding changing the JQuery call to parent.$('#preview').css..., but then it says that parent is undefined. Any ideas?

• Platform independent remote file editing

  I've been investigating possibilities on editing remote files from a website without having a need to download and upload the files manually while editing. So far I've ruled out WebDAV as a possibility since it is cumbersome to use on any platform (it either requires manual setup or works unreliably). Currently I'm looking in to various Applets, but they mostly target either uploading or downloading, not file editing. What I'm currently looking for is an applet that downloads the document, launches the application that is meant to open the file and then monitors the file for changes and uploads the changed file (either automatically or by prompting the user first). I know that I'm not alone with this scenario, so i'm looking for solutions that others have thought of.
