• Strange behaviour of switch case with boolean value

  My question is not about how to solve this error(I already solved it) but why is this error with boolean value. My function is private string NumberToString(int number, bool flag) { string str; switch(flag) { case true: str = number.ToString("00"); break; case false: str = number.ToString("0000"); break; } return str; } Error is Use of unassigned local variable 'str'. Bool can only take true or false. So it will populate str in either case. Then why this error? Moreover this error is gone if along with true and false case I add a default case, but still what can a bool hold apart from true and false? Why this strange behaviour with bool variable?

  I'm interested in using the Module Pattern to better organize my future projects. Unfortunately, there are only a few brief tutorials and proof-of-concept examples of the Module Pattern. Using the module pattern, I would like to organize projects into this sort of structure: project.arm.object.method(); Where "project" is my global project name, "arm" is a sub-section or branch of the project, "object" is an individual object, and so on to the methods and properties.   I'm working in c#. I have a sorted List of structures. The structure has a DateTime object which stores month and year and an integer which stores a value. The list is sorted by date. I need to traverse the list and combine it so that I only have one instance of the structure per date. For example: My initial list would look like this: { (Apr10, 3), (Apr10, 2), (Apr10, -3), (May10, 1), (May10, 1), (May10, -3), (Jun10, 3) } The resulting list should look like this: { (Apr10, 2), (May10, -1), (Jun10, 3) } I'm looking for a simple / efficient solution. • What exactly is a property in Objective C ? What is the difference between a property ans an instance variable?

  I am very much confused between instance variables and property. I have read number of posts regarding this but still i am not clear about it. I am from JAVA background and what i infer from objective C documentation is that a property is similar to JAVA BEAN CLASS (one having getter and setter of instance varibles). A property can accessed from other classes through its getter and setter methods while an instance variable is private and cannot be accessed from other classes. Am i right in thinking in this direction ?

  Perhaps this has something to do with it being the mainForm, but I'll ask the question. I have my mainForm that is the first to load when the program is booted. I then click a button called Add, which should open a new form, and close the mainForm. The problem is, is shows the new form for a split second, then closes both. • How to reuse a dropdownlist each row of a table instead of rebuilding it.

  I have a table the uses the same dropdown list in each row. I thought that I could just create one dropdown list and then reuse it in each new row, but the table only ends up with one row unless I create "new" dropdownlist. Am I approaching this all wrong? • Allow single-line accessor (getter/setter) syntax with Checkstyle

  We'd like to have trivial Java property accessors using a single line syntax, so they take up much much less space, and are more readable (in terms of 'seeing' the set of accessors quickly). But we do want to enforce multi-line method syntax for everything else in our checkstyle configuration. But I'm not sure how to make this exception for accessors in Checkstyle config and suspect it may not be possible. So we'd like our accessors to look something like this: public String getFoo() { return foo; } public void setFoo(String foo) { this.foo = foo; } [In fact we'd rather not have trivial accessors at all and instead just annotate the private member variables with @Property or something and have the accessors generated for us, since writing endless get and set code delivers no real benefit, but that's a general Java frustration and an aside as far as this question goes.]

• Drupal on IIS - Cannot connect to the database

  hi, I've hard time to make Drupal work on IIS Microsoft server. I've succesfully run Joomla on the same server so I'm pretty sure the following information are correct: host: localhost user: user pass: pass databaseName = servername_databasename I've set the following line in settings.php file: $db_url = 'mysql://user:password@localhost/servername_databasename'; but what I get is this: If you are the maintainer of this site, please check your database settings in the settings.php file and ensure that your hosting provider's database server is running. For more help, see the handbook, or contact your hosting provider. I don't get any other error message such as: database doesn't exist, user/pass wrong.. just this. The database is running, I can access with phpmyadmin. I've tried both "mysql" and "mysqli". The host is a private server (IIS Microsoft), the database is Mysql The database and website files upload have also been succesfull.. so I dunno what to do to fix this issue. thanks

I've two class fields: _hour and _day. If actual day is higher than my _day field I must return true, so I'll add a month to "executionDate" If the day is the same, but the actual hour is higher than _hour I should return true too. • Using jquery to make a POST, how to properly supply 'data' parameter?

  Hi, I'd like to make an ajax call as a POST, it's going to go to my servlet. I want to send parameterized data, like the following: var mydata = 'param0=some_text&param1=some_more_text'; I supply this as the 'data' parameter of my jquery ajax() call. So this should be inserted in the body of the POST, right? (I mean, not appended to my 'mysite/save' url?): $.ajax({ url: 'mysite/save', type: 'POST', data: mydata }); it appears to work correctly. • Using an EJB inside a JAX-RS resource class in RestEasy?

  I would like to have the following kind of resource class work when deployed under RestEasy in JBoss 6: @Path("Something") public class Foo { @EJB private SomeService service @GET public Object frobnicate() { assert service != null; // JBoss blows up here return result; } } Two questions: It is a limitation of RestEasy, not of the Java EE specification, right, that RestEasy can't inject anything annotated with @EJB? What have people done to work around this limitation? My developers are about to surge forward with hard-coded JNDI lookups (e.g. context.lookup(someHardCodedNameHere)) because no one can find a workaround to this specification violation at the present time. I really want to avoid this. Lastly, I've looked at using CDI, but the story here isn't much better as RestEasy and CDI still aren't talking to each other. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

• How come the Name property is <Unknown> on a FileStream which uses handle constructors?

  Say you get a file handle from some outside DLL and instantiate a FileStream with it. It works just fine for reading and writing. Then you want the path and name of that handle and try to access the Name property of your FileStream object, and it returns 'unknown'. This is true for the constructors which takes file handles: public FileStream(IntPtr handle, ... public FileStream(SafeFileHandle handle, ... I know the short answer, because it's not implemented. The private field _fileName of FileStream is never assigned in those constructors. Seems the API to get the name from a handle involves more than one line of code, but I still think they could have bothered to include this. So the real questions is: Why haven't they? Or did they just forget?

• Webservice creates Stack Overflow

  I have an application that when executed as a windows application works fine, but when converted to a webservice, in some instances (which were tested successfully) by the windows app) creates a stack overflow. Do you have an idea of what can cause this? (Note that it works fine when the web service is placed on the localhost). Could it be that the stack size of a Web Service is smaller than that of a Window Application?
