• Duplex communication using NetTcpBinding - ContractFilter mismatch?

  I'm making slow and steady progress towards having a duplex communication channel open between a client and a server, using NetTcpBinding. (FYI, you can observe my newbie progress here and here!) I'm now at the stage where I have successfully connected to my server, through the server's firewall, and the client can make requests of the server. In the other direction, however, things aren't quite so happy. It works fine when testing on my own machine, but when testing over the internet, when I try to initiate a callback from the server side, I get an error: The message with Action 'http://MyWebService/IWebService/HelloWorld' cannot be processed at the receiver, due to a ContractFilter mismatch at the EndpointDispatcher. This may be because of either a contract mismatch (mismatched Actions between sender and receiver) or a binding/security mismatch between the sender and the receiver. Check that sender and receiver have the same contract and the same binding (including security requirements, e.g. Message, Transport, None). Here are some of the key bits of code. • deadlock when using WCF Duplex Polling with Silverlight

  Hi all. I have followed Tomek Janczuk's demonstration on silverlight tv to create a chat program that uses WCF Duplex Polling web service. The client subscribes to the server, and then the server initiates notifications to all connected clients to publish events. The Idea is simple, on the client, there is a button that allows the client to connect. A text box where the client can write a message and publish it, and a bigger text box that presents all the notifications received from the server. I connected 3 clients (in different browsers - IE, Firefox and Chrome) and it all works nicely. They send messages and receive them smoothly. The problem starts when I close one of the browsers. As soon as one client is out, the other clients get stuck. They stop getting notifications. I am guessing that the loop in the server that goes through all the clients and sends them the notifications is stuck on the client that is now missing. I tried catching the exception and removing it from the clients list (see code) but it still does not help. any ideas? • 405: Method Not Allowed WCF

  I can perfectly call a WCF web method from localhost. I published to this server: http://luiscarlosch.com/WebFormClean.aspx (only firefox or chrome) with the Visual Studio publishing tool and it works fine. The problem is when a try to access it from another computer. I get the 405: Method Not Allowed. But It doest make sense because It works fine when i access it remotely from the publisher computer as I said. Any idea?   I have been banging my head with this one more the two weeks, and still don't know what the problem is ( I can't narrow it down). The problem is the following. I have a solution with 3 project in it all written in c# and I with LINQ. One project is the main web site, the other is the data layer (communication with the database) and the third one is a custom little CMS. The problem is the following: On a hosting provider when I publish the site it all works perfectly, but this site was needed to be hosted on the client server so I needed to do that. But the problem is that I also needed to configure the client server, because they don't have an Administrator employed (I know, I know ;) ). For the first time I some how managed, to set it up but a problem appear. My main web site is working just as it suppose to be - it reads (communicates with) the database, but My CMS is not. It shows the first log in page, but after that when I try to log in it throws the following error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. So far I have tried the following: -setting time out on connection string to a higher value -configuration and after that turning off server firewall -checking the connection string over and over again (they are the same for all three projects and are saved in web.config) Important notes: I have tried executing the project from VS2008 with a connection string to the same database and the results are the same. That's why I think the problem is the SQL Server 2005 and not the IIS7. Any bit of information is more then welcomed.

• WCF Authentication on the Internet - HELP

  I have a WCF service using the basicHTTP binding. The service will be targeted to be deployed in production in a DMZ environment on a Windows Server 2008 64 bit running IIS 7.0 and is not in an Active Directory domain. The service will be accessed by a business partner over the Internet with SSL protection. Originally, I had built the service to use x.509 Message authentication with wsHTTPBinding and after a lot of problems I punted and decided to back up and use basicHTTP with UserName authentication. Result: same exact, obscure error message as I received with certificate mode. The service works perfectly inside our domain with the exact same authentication but as soon as I move it to the DMZ I get an error reading: "An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail". The inner exception message is: "An error occurred when verifying security for the message." • Why can't I retrieve the entities I've just persisted?

  I've got this web service that basically queries the database and returns all persisted entities. For testing purposes, I've created a TestDataManager that persists 2 example entities after Spring context is loaded (BTW, I'm using JAX-WS, Spring, Hibernate and HSQLDB). I should have 2 entities in the DB by now. Afterwards, I invoke the endpoint by a SOAP client, and the request goes all the way up to the DAO. The Hibernate invocation does not raise any exception, but the returned list is empty. The odd thing is, in TestDataManager, if I switch from sf.openSession() to sf.getCurrentSession(), I get an error message: "No Hibernate Session bound to thread, and configuration does not allow creation of non-transactional one here". What I am doing wrong here? Why is the query "not seeing" the persisted entities? Why do I need to invoke sf.openSession() on TestDataManager although it's annotated with @Transactional? I have done some tests with hibernate.current_session_context_class=thread in application.xml, but then I just switch problems in each class. I'd like not needing to manually invoke sf.openSession() and leave that for Hibernate to take care. Thanks a lot for any help!

  I'm pretty new to developing for the web so bare with me. I have a company page with multiple locations and emails etc at each of these addresses. The idea is to have a single modalpopup to edit each type of data (one for email, one for urls, one for addresses etc). I link the modalpopupextender to a hiddenbutton and then call an edit function from various places where I can populate some hiddenfields and textboxes in the panel before showing it.   I currently have my web.xml configured to catch 404s and send them to my spring controller which will perform a search given the original URL request. The problem lies in resolving the view's path to the /WEB-INF/jsp/ directory. Using a logger in my JBoss setup, I can see that when I test this search controller by going to a non-existent page, the following occurs: Server can't find the request Request is sent to 404 error page (in this case my search controller) Search controller performs search Search controller returns view name (for this illustration, we'll assume test.jsp is returned) Based off of server logger, I can see that org.springframework.web.servlet.view.JstlView is initialized once my search controller returns the view name (so I can assume it is being picked up correctly by the InternalResourceViewResolver) Server attempts to return content to browser resulting in a 404! A couple things confuse me about this: I'm not 100% sure why this isn't resolving when test.jsp clearly exists under the /WEB-INF/jsp/ directory. Even if there was some other problem, why would this result in a 404? Shouldn't a 404 error page that results in another 404 theoretically create an infinite loop? Thanks for any help or pointers!   Hi i'm having a little trouble with a has_many through relationship for my app and was hoping to find some help. So i've got Users & Lectures. Lectures are created by one user but then other users can then "join" the Lectures that have been created. Users have their own profile feed of the Lectures they have created & also have a feed of Lectures friends have created. This question however is not about creating a lecture but rather "Joining" a lecture that has been created already. I've created a "lecturerelationships" model & controller to handle this relationship between Lectures & the Users who have Joined (which i call "actives"). Users also then MUST "Exit" the Lecture (either by clicking "Exit" or navigating to one of the header navigation links). I'm grateful if anyone can work through some of this with me...   I'm currently stacked with the web service that im creating right now. when Testing it in local it all works fine but when I try to deploy it to the web server it throws me the following error An error occurred while trying to make a request to URI '...my web service URI here....'.   I'm trying to set up a Django application using WSGI. That works fine. However, I am having some issues with part of my Django app that uses BDB XML. • Does my basic PHP Socket Server need optimization?

  Like many people, I can do a lot of things with PHP. One problem I do face constantly is that other people can do it much cleaner, much more organized and much more structured. This also results in much faster execution times and much less bugs. I just finished writing a basic PHP Socket Server (the real core), and am asking you if you can tell me what I should do different before I start expanding the core. I'm not asking about improvements such as encrypted data, authentication or multi-threading. I'm more wondering about questions like "should I maybe do it in a more object oriented way (using PHP5)?", or "is the general structure of the way the script works good, or should some things be done different?". Basically, "is this how the core of a socket server should work?" In fact, I think that if I just show you the code here many of you will immediately see room for improvements. • Trying to draw textured triangles on device fails, but the emulator works. Why?

  I have a series of OpenGL-ES calls that properly render a triangle and texture it with alpha blending on the emulator (2.0.1). When I fire up the same code on an actual device (Droid 2.0.1), all I get are white squares. This suggests to me that the textures aren't loading, but I can't figure out why they aren't loading. All of my textures are 32-bit PNGs with alpha channels, under res/raw so they aren't optimized per the sdk docs. Edit4: Tried switching around when I do texture loading. No luck. Tried using a constant offset of 0 to glGenTextures, no change. Is there something that I'm using that the emulator supports that the actual phone does not? Edit5: Per Ryan below, I resized my texture from 200x200 to 256x256, and the issue was NOT resolved.   Background I am currently working on the final QA of a responsive website and I'm having an issue with IE 8 and IE 7. My client deals with government contracting so their website needs to be compatible with IE 8 and IE 7. I am using Modernizr with html5shiv built in. I am loading Modernizr in the footer of a WordPress theme that was custom built for this project. I'm not missing a doctype or any other obvious code.   I have Hibernate 3.6.0.Final and Spring 3.0.0.RELEASE I get "No Hibernate Session bound to thread, and configuration does not allow creation of non-transactional one here" If I add the thread specification back in, I get "saveOrUpdate is not valid without active transaction" Any ideas? • Mobile enabled web apps with ASP.NET MVC 3 and jQuery Mobile

  In my previous blog posts, I have demonstrated a simple web app using ASP.NET MVC 3 and EF Code First. In this post, I will be focus on making this application for mobile devices. A single web site will be used for both mobile browsers and desktop browsers. If users are accessing the web app from mobile browsers, users will be redirect to mobile specific pages and will get normal pages if users are accessing from desktop browsers. In this demo app, the mobile specific pages are maintained in an ASP.NET MVC Area named Mobile and mobile users will be redirect to MVC Area Mobile. Let’s add a new area named Mobile to the ASP.NET MVC app. For adding Area, right click the ASP.NET MVC project and  select Area from Add option. Our mobile specific pages using jQuery Mobile will be maintained in the Mobile Area. ASP.NET MVC Global filter for redirecting mobile visitors to Mobile area Let’s add an ASP.NET MVC Global filter for redirecting mobile visitors to Mobile area. The below Global filter is taken from the sample app http://aspnetmobilesamples.codeplex.com/ created by the ASP.NET team.
