  • How to get local ActiveMQ broker to "mirror" a queue on a remote ActiveMQ broker?

    I have a local ActiveMQ broker which is on an unreliable internet connection, and also a remote ActiveMQ broker in a reliable datacenter. I have already sorted out a "store and forward" setup so that outgoing messages are sent to the remote broker when the Internet connection is available. That alone works great, but when messages are outbound. However, now I have to do the reverse. Here is the scenario: A new message appears in the remote ActiveMQ broker. The message is put into a specific queue. In a few minutes, the Internet connection becomes available to the local ActiveMQ broker. The local broker should then be able to pull the message from the remote broker, and place it in its own local queue. Local consumers will then be able to see the message. So in essence, I need the local broker to become a subscribed consumer to the remote queue. I have looked through the ActiveMQ documentations but I can't find anything yet about how to do this in the .xml configuration file. Is this what I should be looking for? See: "ActiveMQ: JMS to JMS Bridge". Any advice and tips would be highly appreciated.

    Hello, I have created a custom data grid control. I dragged it on windows form and set its properties like column and all & ran the project. It built successfully and I am able to view the grid control on the form. Now if i try to view that form in designer, I am getting following error..   • I/O between AIR client using Native process and executable java .jar

    I am using Adobe AIR 2.0 native process API to launch a java executable jar. I/O is handled by writing to the input stream of the java process and reading from the output stream. The application is event based where several events are fired from the server.   • Is there a standard mapping between JSON and Protocol Buffers?

    From a comment on the announcement blog post: Regarding JSON: JSON is structured similarly to Protocol Buffers, but protocol buffer binary format is still smaller and faster to encode. JSON makes a great text encoding for protocol buffers, though -- it's trivial to write an encoder/decoder that converts arbitrary protocol messages to and from JSON, using protobuf reflection. This is a good way to communicate with AJAX apps, since making the user download a full protobuf decoder when they visit your page might be too much. It may be trivial to cook up a mapping, but is there a single "obvious" mapping between the two that any two separate dev teams would naturally settle on? If two products supported PB data and could interoperate because they shared the same .proto spec, I wonder if they would still be able to interoperate if they independently introduced a JSON reflection of the same spec. There might be some arbitrary decisions to be made, e.g. should enum values be represented by a string (to be human-readable a la typical JSON) or by their integer value? So is there an established mapping, and any open source implementations for generating JSON encoder/decoders from .proto specs?

    I am looking to set up a Redmine server on a Windows virtual machine on my local workstation. (Background in this related question.) I have zero knowledge of Ruby nor Rails, and while Redmine may be the opportunity to dip into those platforms somewhat, my first goal is to get it running as quickly and easily as possible. For that, I am eyeing the Bitnami Redmine Package. It promises point-and-click install, and a self-contained environment with everything you need. Apart from the learning factor, are there any serious limitations this method implies? Any serious cutdowns in customizability? I will be wanting to customize the template right away, for example, and install plugins. The package looks o.k. to me but before I install it, I was curious to know whether anybody would advise against it and why. Edit: The first impression is great. From 0 to a working Redmine installation in twelve minutes! Wow.

    Hi there, I have a set of items which i am grouping using the muenchian method using keys. This is working great however when i try to do things with the first x number of items it is doing it on the x number of items in each group rather than across the whole set of results.   • Dynamic Connection Strings for Strongly Typed DataSet in a Class Library using App.Config

    This is my first question on StackOverflow.com and I'm not sure if this is the correct way to do this. I found a similar question titled: Modifying the Data Source for the Strongly Typed Dataset Connection String. However, the answer provided is not working for me. I'm not able to comment on it because I don't have enough "reputation points" (again, I just signed up), and I didn't want to provide an "answer", because I don't know the correct answer. My problem is that I need to be able to modify the connection string inside the generated myproject.dll.config file, but doing so has no effect for me at all. My library still uses the default connection string that was setup at design time. I've tried everything I know to try, but still no luck. I've tried working around the issue using multiple different approaches, but still the problem persists. I can't find any help on the internet with my specific problem either. It would be great if somebody could shed some light as to why my modified config file isn't being read. Useful information: I'm using a Strongly Typed DataSet I don't know the actual connection string at design time. The app.config doesn't allow me to specify a 'User' scoped connection string. I'm tied to a class library (no Windows Forms) Thank you for any help! Luc

  • How can I edit an exe's resources (File Description, Icon, etc.) using a command line utility?

    The whole story: I have created a fancy .NET program which has an installer created by the Visual Studio Installer (VSI). The VSI creates 2 files (setup.exe and MyProgramSetup.msi). I understand the reasons for both files being needed, however, I only want to distribute a SINGLE executable installer to users. I do not want them to see 2 files and have to choose between them. In order to do this I have merged the 2 files into a self-extracting archive using IExpress (as seen in this answer: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/535966/merge-msi-and-exe). This works well, however, the self-extracting archive that gets created has an ugly icon and confusing file info (the File Description is "Win32 Cabinet Self-Extractor" with 43 black spaces after it). I need to replace the icon with my custom one and change some of the file properties like "Description", "Company", etc. I would like to have this automatically done as a build step so having a program which is a command line/console utility would be great. I've searched for a while now and can only find one program which does exactly what I want (ResourceTuner Console: http://www.heaventools.com/command-line_resource_editor.htm) but it costs an arm and a leg and my budget is $0. Does anyone know a better way to achieve what I want, or know of a program which can replace an executable's resources without having to use a GUI? By the way, I have also tried "SiComponents Resource Builder 3" which can't even open the executable, and "Julien Audo's ResEdit" which just crashes when I execute the command: "resedit.exe -convert "Modified Resources.rc" "MyProgramSetup.exe"

Imagine the situation of two processes: X Client <-- Y Server The server process Y : has a "ServerSocket", that is listening to a TCP port The client process X : send a connection request through a -client type- "Socket" X ////so Simple ! then the accept() method (in server Y) returns a new client type "Socket", when it occurs, great the two Sockets get "interconected", so the -client socket- in client process, is connected with the -client socket- in the server process then (reading/writing in socket X is like reading/writing in socket Y, and viceversa. ) TWO CLIENT SOCKETS GET INTERCONECTED!! ////so Simple ! BUT... (there is always a But..) What if I create the two CLIENT sockets in same process, and I want to get them "interconected" ? ////mmm Complex =(... even posible? Let's say how to have TWO CLIENT SOCKETS GET INTERCONECTED WITHOUT using an intermediate ServerSocket ? I 've solved it.. by creating two threads for continuously reading A and writing B, and other for reading B and writng A... but I think could be a better way..(or should!) (Those world-energy-consuming threads are not necessary with the client-server aproach) Any help or advice would be appreciated!! Thanks

    In a web app developed in PHP we are generating Quotations and Invoices (which are very simple and of single page) using TCPDF lib. The lib is working just great but it seems to generate very large PDF files. For example in our case it is generating PDF files as large as 4 MB (+/- a few KB). How to reduce this bloating of PDF files generated by TCPDF? I've compared the traffic when I establish a ssh connection (from openssh client to openssh server), to the traffic when my client connects to the same openssh server. OpenSSH client - OpenSSH server (S for server, C for client): S: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-6ubuntu2\r (saying hello) C: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.2\r (introducing myself) C: Key Exchange Init (0x14 = 20) S: Key Exchange Init C: Diffie-Hellman GEX Request (0x22 = 34) (with DH GEX min, number of bits and max) S: Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange Reply (with P, G, etc.) C: Diffie-Hellman GEX Init S: Diffie-Hellman GEX Reply My client - OpenSSH server: S: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-6ubuntu2\r (saying hello) C: SSH-2.0-Some_Name\r (introducing myself) C: Key Exchange Init (0x14 = 20) S: Key Exchange Init C: Diffie-Hellman GEX Request (0x22 = 34) (with DH GEX min, number of bits and max) and then a bogus TCP packet as reply (probably the server connection has been terminated after/upon GEX Request. I have yet to use AES128 (which I think is the encryption chosen, but I'm not sure how to verify this...), and I'm still sending in a non-compressed format, looking to get the P, G etc. values to make the DH calculations. So where I'm stranded is: RFC 4419 page 3 http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4419.txt I've send SSH_MSG_KEY_DH_GEX_REQUEST, but the server does not respond SSH_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_GROUP. Can anyone give me a little advice on what I'm not understanding here? Does the server not understand my GEX request (due to it expecting encryption, or?)?     I'm looking for an article or overview of WPF Panel types, that explains the sizing characters of each. For example, here are the panel types: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms754152.aspx#Panels_derived_elements I've learned (by experiment) that UniformGrid can be given a fixed height, or it can be "auto" where it expands to fit available space. That is great, but what I wanted was for Uniform Grid to shrink to fit its internal content (particularly content that is provided dynamically, at run-time). I don't think it has that ability. So I'd like to know either what other Panel I could use for that purpose, or what Panel I should nest the UniformGrid inside of. But I don't just want an answer to that specific question. I want the sizing dynamics and capabilities of all the Panel types, in summary form, so I can make all these choices as needed. Online I find articles that cover only half the Panel types, and don't give as much information about sizing as I'm describing. Anyone know the link (or book) that has the info I'm seeking? p.s. Since I want the UniformGrid to shrink to the dynamic content I'm providing, I could just keep track of the total height of controls placed within, and then set the height of the UniformGrid. But it would be nice if WPF took care of this for me.

  • asp.net Membership : Extending Role membership?

    Hi there, I am been taking a look at asp.net membership and it seems to provide everything that i need but i need some kind of custom Role functionality. Currently i can add user to a role, great. But i also need to be able to add Permissions to Roles.. i.e. Role: Editor Permissions: Can View Editor Menu, Can Write to Editors Table, Can Delete Entries in Editors Table. Currently it doesn't support this, The idea behind this is to create a admin option in my program to create a role and then assign permissions to a role to say "allow the user to view a certain part of the application", "allow the user to open a menu item" Any ideas how i would implement soemthing like this? I presume a custom ROLE provider but i was wondering if some kind of framework extension existed already without rolling my own? Or anybody knows a good tutorial of how to tackle this issue? I am quite happy with what asp.net SQL provider has created in terms of tables etc... but i think i need to extend this by adding another table called RolesPermissions and then I presume :-) adding some kind of enumeration into the table for each valid permission??   • CFHost DNS Resolution - When is it OK to use synchronous API?

    I went to the iPhone Developer Tech Talk a few months ago and asked one of the gurus there about the lack of NSHost on the iPhone. Some code I was porting to the iPhone made significant use of NSHost throughout its networking code. I was told that NSHost is on the iPhone, but its private. I was also told that NSHost is a synchronous API and that I shouldn't use it anyway. (If anyone could elaborate on why it shouldn't be used, as a bonus, that'd be great.) I can see the caveats of using synchronous API's on the main thread in that they'll block until complete - and that's never a good thing with network code because there are so many factors that could cause the API to block the thread for a significant amount of time. My solution was to write a wrapper around CFHost's asynchronous resolution functions. The result works quite well, and I'm considering releasing it into the public domain. But my question is this: Say my app only resolves a hostname once per run, during the connecting phase, and then cache's it for the rest of the session. During the time it is resolving, a modal screen is shown telling the user "Connecting" with a nice spinner. Does it really matter whether or not the resolution is asynchronous?? The user has to wait to connect anyway, and the resolution is only done on the first connection. Subsequent connections use the cached result of the resolution. When is it OK to be synchronous and when should things be asynchronous?

    Hi all, I have two select lists, I would like jquery to either remove or disable a select option, depending on what is selected from the first select list: <select name="booking" id="booking"> <option value="3">Group Bookings</option> <option value="2" selected="selected">Port Phillip Bay Snapper Charters</option> <option value="6">Portland Tuna Fishing</option> <option value="1">Sport Fishing</option> </select> Here's the second list (which will only ever have two values): <select name="charterType" id="charterType"> <option value="1">Individual Booking</option> <option value="2">Group Booking</option> </select> If Group Bookings or Port Phillip Bay Snapper Charters are selected, I need only "Group Booking" to be displayed. (To basically hide "Individual Booking") but I can't seem to get it to work..     I've got a grails 1.1 web app running great in development but when I try and run it in production with an sqlserver database it crashes in a weird way.     Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get a block of code down to one line. I need a way to get the number of items in a list. My code currently looks like this: # Include the lib directory several levels up from this directory my @ary = split('/', $Bin); my @ary = @ary[0 .. $#ary-4]; my $res = join '/',@ary; lib->import($res.'/lib'); That's great but I'd like to make that one line, something like this: lib->import( join('/', ((split('/', $Bin)) [0 .. $#ary-4])) ); But of course the syntax $#ary is meaningless in the above line. Is there equivalent way to get the number of elements in an anonymous list? Thanks! PS: The reason for consolidating this is that it will be in the header of a bunch of perl scripts that are ancillary to the main application, and I want this little incantation to be more cut & paste proof.     I have developed a blog application of sorts that I am trying to allow other users to take advantage of (for free and mostly for family). I wondering if the authentication I have set up will allow for such a thing. Here is the scenario. Currently the application allows for users to sign up for an account and when they do so they can create blog posts and organize those posts via tags. The application displays no data publicly (another words, you have to login to see anything). To gain access you have to create an account and even after you do, you cannot see anyone else's information as the applications filters using the current_user method and displays in the /posts/index.html.erb page. This would be great if a user only wanted to blog and share it with themselves, not really what I am looking for. My question has two parts (hopefully I won't make anyone mad by not putting these into two questions) Is it possible for a particular users data to live at www.myapplication.com/user without moving everything to the /user/show.html.erb file? Is it possible to make some of that information (living at the URL) public but still require login for create and destroy actions. Essentially, exactly like twitter. I am just curious if I can get from where I am (using the current_user methods across controllers to display in /posts/index.html.erb) to where I want to be. My fear is that I have to redesign the app such that the user data lives in the /user/show.html.erb page. Thoughts?

I wonder if there is something I can set in the vendored gem path to represent the /posts/index.html.erb code as the /user/id code and replace id with the user name.

  • Does anyone know of a good Commercial WPF Web Browser Control?

    I have an MDI WPF app that I need to add web content too. At first, great it looks like I have 2 options built into the framework the Frame control and the WebBrowser control. Given that this is an MDI app it doesn't take long to discover that neither of these will work. The WebBrowser control wraps up the IE WebBrowser ActiveX Control which uses the Win32 graphics pipeline. The "Airspace" issue pretty much sums this up as "Sorry, the layouts will not play nice together". Yes, I have thought about taking snapshots of the web content rendering these and mapping the mouse and keyboard events back to the browser control, but I can't afford the performance penalty and I really don't have time to write and thoroughly test it. I have looked for third party controls, but so far I have only found Chris Cavanagh's WPF Chromium Web Browser control. Which wraps up Awesomium 1.5. Together these are very cool, they play nice with the WPF layouts. But they do not meet my performance requirements. They are VERY HEAVY on memory consumption and not to friendly with CPU usage either. Not to mention still quite buggy. I'll elaborate if you are interested. So, do any of you know of a stable performant WPF web browser control? Thanks.

Having '\' as namespace separator is a little bit ... awkward (but if there is someone who thinks that is cool & sexy, I am adding tag "rant" to this post. ;) . So, here goes the question: Are you using in your code NAMESPACE_SEPARATOR constant? As in code below: <?php if (!\defined('NAMESPACE_SEPARATOR') { \define('NAMESPACE_SEPARATOR', '\\'); } // if Pros: consistent with DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR (which all of us are using ;) no mess with escaping (think of '\Foo\Bar' but '\\' . Foo' . '\\' . 'Bar') more readable (IMHO) which gives us in effect an opportunity to write good, namespace-aware autoloaders can resist another change if something scary happens (as with ol'good '::' from PHP 6 alpha) can hide uniquess of '\' as namespace operator in programming language land from strangers ;) Cons: "The reason for DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR is that the value is platform dependent, the namespace separator isn't." (as stated in http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=43046) 19 characters instead of 1 ( \ ) or 4 ('\\') There are places where you can't use this (full qualified class names as default class variables) ie: class A { protected $sDefaultReporterClass = '\My\Namespace\DefaultReporter'; } So, what are you thinking ?

  • PHP Streaming CSV always adds UTF-8 BOM

    The following code gets a 'report line' as an array and uses fputcsv to tranform it into CSV. Everything is working great except for the fact that regardless of the charset I use, it is putting a UTF-8 bom at the beginning of the file. This is exceptionally annoying because A) I am specifying iso and B) We have lots of users using tools that show the UTF-8 bom as characters of garbage. I have even tried writing the results to a string, stripping the UTF-8 BOM and then echo'ing it out and still get it. Is it possible that the issue resides with Apache?
