    I've built a static site. Locally, when I serve the content with python -m SimpleHTTPServer everything behaves normally, but when I copy the HTML onto the server and browse the site at the server's URL, some links will have a port number appended to the domain. For example: url.com:84/path where the correct path is url.com/path. The port number is usually different, always between 81-85. It is an Apache server. I'm not experienced with web server configuration, and I'm not the admin of the server.   • Can aynone tell me what exactly 32bit/64bit and x86 and AMD64 have to do with the different choices on the download site of Ubuntu?

    SORRY for the newbie question, but I am still learning. I am wondering if x86 simply refers to the intel CPUs and AMD64 simply refers to the AMD CPUs? While....32bit and 64bit to the processor types? I was trying to download the intel 64bit version of the Ubuntu installer, but it wont give the option of x86 and AMD64....only the 32bit and 64bit can be chosen. Does this mean that someone with an Intel CPU and another person with an AMD CPU will download the same install file? (obviously depending on the bit version of their CPUs this might differ....but that's another thing).

  • Is it worth upgrading Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04? [closed]

    A few years ago, I used Ubuntu 10.04, and i liked it a lot. It never crashed. Then I have to change to Win*** because of work. But this year, I heard about Ubuntu 12.04 and I wanted to install it. I've done this, but I have a lot of crashes. I don't do something special to make ubuntu crash, but sometimes it shows me a crash message. So, is it worth migrating to 12.04? Do somebody stay with the 10.04? I really want to use ubuntu, and I will, but I don't know if it worth to use the newest release or with the 10.04. If i install the 10.04 version, ubuntu tells me all the time to upgrade to the new version? Or will I use it fine? What do you suggest me? Thanks everybody for your time, and sorry for my english.

    I am totally trackpoint fan, I use it all the time and have disablet my touchpad. Due to my study I work a lot with MATLAB, but MATLAB uses Java, and horizontal scroll does not be recognized by java as I already reat in many other threats(well it recognizes as right click :S ). There seems to be no solution for that and disable horizontal scroll in matlab is no solution for me at all. Does anybody know about a fix for that or somehow to enable horizontal scroll java. This really drives me crazy. HELP!     I am referring to this link to install Nginx on Ubuntu: Installing Nginx With PHP5 (And PHP-FPM) And MySQL Support (LEMP) On Ubuntu 13.04. sudo su — Runs OK. apt-get install mysql-server mysql-client mysql-client is already the newest version. mysql-server is already the newest version. Yet when I try http://localhost on Firefox it does not show the welcome page. (That is Nginx is not running). Unable to connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost.

    I have just installed the standard default desktop configuration of Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal). My PC only has 1GB of RAM and is struggling a little. What steps can I take to reduce the memory overhead of the standard install? If it makes a difference, I use Firefox, and a terminal most of the time.     I'm just starting out HTML5 game developement (and game dev in general) and watching all the videos and tutorials available something has crossed my mind. Everyone keep saying I should set the cookie's (or cached files) to be expired after a certain amount of time. So that when it reaches that time the browser automatically downloads all assets again, even if it's the same asset's. Wouldn't it be possible to manually define the version of the game? For example the user has downloaded all the files for 1.01 of the game, when updating I change a simple variable to 1.02. When the user logs in it would compare his version to the current and if they are not equal only then it downloads the files? This could even be improved to download only specific files depending on what needs to be updated? Would this be possible or am I just dreaming? What are the possible downsides of this approach?

  • How to I prevent decimal truncation in Word 2003 when a document is auto populated via a Web Service

    I have a document template which is being auto populated via an external web service. The incoming data exists as a currency (e.g. 3.10) but when it is passed into the Word Document template the variable is truncated to remove any trailing 0's. I need the number to always appear with 2 decimals, even if they are both 0's. This is with the 2003 version of Word, I have not tested with other versions since all of our document templates need to be generated using that version of Word. I feel like this can be done with a Macro or a VB script but I have a very small amount of time & no experience with these tools - Any help is greatly appreciated!

    I am a new user of Linux, it has been recommended to me by my friend. He told me to install software called IntelliJ Idea IDE. Well I have been following the tutorial. But now when I try to open "idea.sh", an error message pops-up: 'tools.jar' is not in IDEA classpath. Please ensure JAVA_HOME points to JDK rather than JRE. Please remember that I'm new to Ubuntu and I'm planning for a nice long stay once I get myself into it :) Also I do not know if I am running a correct Java6 JDK.     Currently, I am using the Unity Qt panel in my Gnome desktop of Ubuntu 10.10, and when I press the Meta a.k.a. Windows key, the Unity's dash launches, and I can't use any compiz based shortcuts. Same behaviour is exhibited when I log in to Unity 2D as well, as the Meta key launches the dash. I have no desire to change my Compiz shortcuts, so is there any way to change the keyboard mapping of Unity 2D's dash to something other or disable this shortcut completely?
