webOS style view switching on iPhone app

Hello, I have been working with a iPhone app that I would like to have switch views like the Palm Pre does for multitasking. I know the usual way of switching views by using the black bar at the bottom of the app but the app I am working on does not lend itself to having a big black bar in the way (see attached picture #1). I guess my question is, how do I shrink the current view (Current Location window) and show other views on the sides? (see attached picture #2) Then be able to swipe left and right to view other views. IE8 no honoring display:none

I have the following markup on a page and unfortunately I do not have direct access to it. . This page is opened in an iframe. There is other code on the page but it is not relevant so I have not posted it. The only access to target the code in via css. I want to not display the close button so I added this to the css file img[alt='Close'] {display:none !important;} this is the markup <td align="center"><a href='javascript:window.close()'><img src='v/vspfiles/templates/100/images/buttons/btn_close.gif' alt='Close' border=0></a></td> It works as expected in all browsers that i have tested (firefox, Opera, Safari) but in IE8 it seems to ignore this css and shows the button. Not sure if it doesn't like the selector or perhaps I have a syntax error. Not sure where to go from here.

Really new to XCode. Why won't the thing run?

Hi, I'm trying to follow the April 2009 and Winter 2010 Stanford iPhone app development videos and I'm running up against the same problems with both. First, they don't appear to be using the latest version of XCode - the Outlets and Actions panels are in a different window and there is little info on the net about this (other than one other post on S.O.F.) Second, having got to the point where I've managed to connect the slider, label and changedLabelText connections, I save, build and run the app - the simulator loads, the app loads and then promptly closes again. What's going on? I have not written any code yet and I still have an app which, while it compiles, does not behave! Is there a better starting point for an XCode noob than the Stanford vids? Google Maps API Key alert problem

I have a problem with my Google Maps API key. I get an alert saying "This web site needs a different Google Maps API key." When I prees OK to the alert the map are loading and working fine. The same problem is already posted: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1803327/google-maps-api-key-not-working I have tried to request the API key for both "http://www.domain.com" and "http://domain.com" but I still get the alert. When I follow the instructions from their FQA and use alert(window.location.host) I get www.domain.com but the api key generator will only accept the domain if the prefix is http:// Does anyone have a solution to this?

footer bar like facebook - css

Hello, I want to create a footer like facebook, that sticks at the bottom of the page, irrespective of the scroll. <div id="footer"></div> and here is the css style #footer{ position:absolute; left:0px; margin-bottom:0px; vertical-align:bottom; bottom:0px; width:100%; height:25px; background-color:#dfd5d7; overflow:hidden; } It comes fine, when I resize the browser window it does not stick to the bottom but a about 50 pixels up. Using EXR images in OpenCV

Hi there! I'm currently working on a project with OpenEXR and I would like to implement some Blob detection algorithms. To do this I figured that I could use OpenCV as it says in the documentation that it can open OpenEXR format files. I have all the libraries installed and working as I've been doing other things. I open a simple jpg file with openCV cvLoadImage. It works fine. But when i try to open any .exr file it doesn't seam to like it. I get a gray window where there should be the image display. Has anyone done any tests with OpenCV and OpenEXR libraries working together? Have they worked for you? What do you think? Thanks.

NETCF - Displaying custom shaped form in compact framework

Hi guys, I am developing some small little application that sits on the screen and on top of all window and flies around the screen, could be a bird or a butterfly or a fish. But I have a little bit of problem. How do I redraw the background without my images included? or how do I copy the background (not the wallpaper) behind my form with image? is it possible to have a custom shaped form also? currently, the app looks like this the 2nd image with X is what I currently have (it has some sort of tearing) and it's supposed to be the 1st one with check mark.

How to use a CTabCtrl in a MFC dialog based application ?

I need to do something which i expected to be was simple - create a tab control which has 2 tabs, implying 2 modes of operation for my app. When user clicks on Tab1, he'll be presented with some buttons and textboxes, and when he clicks Tab2, some other input method. I noticed that there was a CTabCtrl class thats used in MFC to add tabs. However, once I added the tab ctrl using the UI designer, I couldn't specify how many tabs there'll be using property window. Searching on the net, I found some examples but all of them required you to derive from CtabCtrl , create 2 or more child dialogs etc and to write your own custom class. My question is, since I want to do something so basic, why couldn't I do it using the familiar Add Event handler/Add member variable wizard and then handle everything else inside my app's class ? Surely, the default CTabCtrl class can do something useful without needing to derive from it ?

Is it possible to take a screenshot of a web page with Javascript or HTML5/Canvas?

Is there a way I could insert some code into a page that would take a screenshot of what the user sees in the browser window, then upload that image via a web form of some sort? I'm working on a clone of a pay-to-use service that lets you install a widget on a web page which in turn allows viewers to report bugs in the sites layout. Currently they use a Java applet to take the screenshot, which, in my opinion, is probably the worst way to go about it (aside from requiring the user to install a plugin) Is there a javascript/flash/other alternative? custom attribute changes in .NET 4

I recently upgraded a C# project from .NET 3.5 to .NET 4. I have a method that extracts all MSTest test methods from a given list of MethodBase instances. Its body looks like this: return null == methods || methods.Count() == 0 ? null : from method in methods let testAttribute = Attribute.GetCustomAttribute(method, typeof(TestMethodAttribute)) where null != testAttribute select method; This worked in .NET 3.5, but since upgrading my projects to .NET 4, this code always returns an empty list, even when given a list of methods containing a method that is marked with [TestMethod]. Did something change with custom attributes in .NET 4? Debugging, I found that the results of GetCustomAttributesData() on the test method gives a list of two CustomAttributeData which are described in Visual Studio 2010's 'Locals' window as: Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting.DeploymentItemAttribute("myDLL.dll") Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting.TestMethodAttribute() -- this is what I'm looking for When I call GetType() on that second CustomAttributeData instance, however, I get {Name = "CustomAttributeData" FullName = "System.Reflection.CustomAttributeData"} System.Type {System.RuntimeType}. How can I get TestMethodAttribute out of the CustomAttributeData, so that I can extract test methods from a list of MethodBases?

Log out of an SSH session into Erlang VM without stopping the VM or leaving stale processes

I have an Erlang application running as a daemon, configured as an SSH server. I can connect to it with an SSH client and I get the standard Erlang REPL. If I 'q().' I shut down the Erlang VM, not the connection. If I close the connection ('~.' for OpenSSH, close the window in PuTTY) some processes remain under the sshd_sup/ssh_system_xx_sup tree. These appear to be stale shell processes. I do not see any exported function in the shell module that would let me shut down the shell (and therefore the SSH connection) without affecting the entire VM. How should I be logging out of the SSH session to not leave stale processes in the VM?

Close Flash Player from FlashDevelop IDE

Whenever I compile my project using FlashDevelop in 'Debug' the Flash Player window remains after I have clicked the 'Stop' button in Flash Develop. I have to then switch over to the flash player, click through any error messages and then close the player, which wastes a lot of time in the long run. Any way to make it so Flash Player closes when I click 'Stop' in the Flash Develop debug tools? EDIT: My setup is a fresh install of Windows 7, a new copy of Flash Develop 4 and Flash Player 10. I'm trying to get the cursor to move left one step - before the letter "F". How can I make Vim autosave files when it loses focus?

I'm used to my editors autosaving files when they lose focus. I recently switched to MacVim, and I can't recreate that behavior. I tried this: autocmd BufLeave,FocusLost * wall but if a buffer is unnamed when the window or MacVim loses focus, I get an error like the following: Error detected while processing BufLeave Auto commands for "*": E141: No file name for buffer 1 I'm confused, because :wall's documentation says: Write all changed buffers. Buffers without a file name or which are readonly are not written. so I'd expect it to skip unnamed buffers. Is there a better way to do this?

It simply expands the column to fit the text. If I set the Width to a fixed amount on the last column, wrapping works as expected. The problem there is that if the user widens the window, the column stays at a fixed size. How can I get the column to size dynamically with the width of the grid, but still wrap the text within it?

hi, I am using a WebBrowser to render some HTML text. The WebBrowser is located within a rich client. I can detect the window's orientation when the rich client is launched. How do I make the text rendered within the WebBrowser to be dispayed in RTL order. I have tried body.setDir("rtl"), but it only aligned all the text in the WebBrowser to the right. It does not really reverse the content. For example, I have a photo that is displayed on the left and then a segment of text displayed on the right. After calling body.setDir("rtl"), it only aligned everything to the right in the WebBrowser, but it did not move the photo to the right, and it did not move the text to the left. Thanks a lot!

Is it possible to exclude some files from checkin (TFS) ?

We use configuration files within various projects under source control (TFS), where each developer has to make some adjustments in his local copy to configure his environment. The build process takes care about replacing the config files with the server configuration as a part of the deployment, so it doesn't actually matter what is in the repository. However, we would anyway like to keep some kind of a default non-breaking version of config files in the repository, so that e.g. people not involved in the particular project won't run into troubles because of local misconfiguration. We tried to resolve this by introducing the check-in policy that simply forbids to check-in the config files. This works fine, but just because we're lazy to always uncheck those checkboxes in the pending changes window, the question comes : is it possible to transparently disable the check-in of particular files without keeping them out of source control (e.g. locking their current version) ?

Hi, I have setup for Android development with 1.5 SDK on Mac O.S X - Eclipse 3.5. I want to upgrade the SDK, so as i followed to choose Window-Android SDK and AVD Manager from Eclipse. But it throws error as follows: XML verification failed for https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml. Error: cvc-elt.1: Cannot find the declaration of element 'sdk:sdk- repository'. Failed to fetch URL I tried "http" instead of https, but still getting the same error. I don't know why such crap error comes. If i see Android website, http://developer.android.com/intl/zh-CN/sdk/index.html its confusing. Could someone guide me easily to update Android SDK to 2.x or later without uninstalling my current setup environment. Thanks. I appreciate your kind suggestions.
