• Can only "agents" build and submit Applications to Apple?

  I'm afraid I know the answer to this but I'll ask on the longshot chance that I'm wrong: I've been doing some freelance work creating an iPhone application for a company. They've created their own developer account and added me as an team member with "admin" rights. That seems to be the highest assignable rights (with the only higher level being "agent" and belonging only to whoever signed up for the account). Yet, I don't have an option under the provisioning portal to create a distribution certificate or profile. Is there any way to create these myself without having to ask my client for their primary login? They're not particulary tech savy so it would be difficult to walk them through the process to create the necessary certificates (and would require me giving them a certificate request from my computer, etc. etc.). But it seems like there should be some way to create a distribution build without "agent" rights, right? Could Apple seriously expect only one person from a company to do all the building and uploading of apps to the store?

• Parsing prototype AJAX.response XML in IE

  Hi I have an xml webservice which I'm fetching using PrototypeJS. The xml has the correct content type and is well-formed, and looks like this: <GetTokenResponse xmlns="http://tempuri.org/"> <GetTokenResult>F655100D64F098F0AC33AFF414A4A0D5</GetTokenResult> </GetTokenResponse> The AJAX request is completing successfully, and I can access the GetTokenResult node in both IE and FF but can only get the text content of the node in FF. My code is below: node = transport.responseXML.documentElement.getElementsByTagName('GetTokenResult')[0]; rawToken = (document.all) ? node.innerText : node.textContent; I've tried innerText and innerHTML, as well as children[0] and a few other chance guesses but IE returns 'undefined' when I access rawToken. The application has pagination to display only 25 profiles at a time. My requirement is the profileDataManager should be instantiated only once for respective client. On subsequent calls, it should use the existing object. For this i need the one service object should be created for user session.If a client sends another request, the service object created in previous call should be returned. On client side i am using Flex. In CXF webserice, my requirement is fulfilled with an annotation '@HttpSessionScope'. Is there away that i can get the abovementioned behavior in Axis? I have given the following trials. but no success added and modified the java client stub.setMaintainSession(true); The above didn't work for me.

• How do I memoize expensive calculations on Django model objects?

  I have several TextField columns on my UserProfile object which contain JSON objects. I've also defined a setter/getter property for each column which encapsulates the logic for serializing and deserializing the JSON into python datastructures. The nature of this data ensures that it will be accessed many times by view and template logic within a single Request. To save on deserialization costs, I would like to memoize the python datastructures on read, invalidating on direct write to the property or save signal from the model object. Where/How do I store the memo? I'm nervous about using instance variables, as I don't understand the magic behind how any particular UserProfile is instantiated by a query. Is __init__ safe to use, or do I need to check the existence of the memo attribute via hasattr() at each read?   I am trying to create a WebPart for my locally installed Sharepoint Services 3.0 and I've followed various tips and guides to get it all working. However somewhere on the road I must have missed something or this is just not "in all the books". When creating an empty Sharepoint WebPart and just hitting F5 to debug it, I get the following message: Error 1 The HTTP request is unauthorized with client authentication scheme 'Negotiate'. The authentication header received from the server was 'Negotiate,NTLM'. 0 0 And as this article from microsoft suggests I did enable Negotiate, NTLM. But it's still not working, Any suggestions?

• How do I get a rt2800usb wireless device working?

  My brand new desktop running 13.04 has endless problems with wireless. Dozens of others are flooding forums with reports of the same problems. It worked fine for a few days, then there were a few days where it started having problems sometimes and working sometimes. Now it never works at all. I have 5+ devices all able to connect without any trouble at all, including iPhone, Android phone, 3DS, multiple game consoles, a laptop running windows 7, and even a second desktop machine running Ubuntu 12.04 sitting right behind the 13.04 machine. All other devices have full wireless bars displayed (strong signals). At any moment, one of the following is happening, and it changes randomly: Trying to connect forever, but never establishing a connection. Wireless icon constantly animating. Finds no wireless networks at all. (There are 12+ in range according to other devices.) Will not try to connect to the network. If I use the icon to connect, it will display "Disconnected" within a few seconds. Will continuously ask for the network password. Typing it in correctly does not help. Wireless is working fine. This happens sometimes. It can work for days at a time, or only 10 mins at a time. Various things that usually do nothing but sometimes fix the problem: Reboot. This has the best chance of helping, but it usually takes 5+ times. Disable/re-enable Wi-Fi using the wireless icon. Disable/re-enable Networking using the wireless icon. Use the icon to try and connect to a network (if found). Use the icon to open Edit Connections and delete my connection info, causing it to be recreated (once it's actually found again). Various things that seem to make no difference: Changing between using Linux headers in grub at bootup, between 3.10.0, 3.9.0, or 3.8.0. Move the wireless router very close to the desktop. Running sudo rfkill unblock all (I dunno what this is supposed to do.) I've used Ubuntu for 6 years and I've never had a problem with networking. Now I'm spending all my time reading through endless problem reports and trying all the answers. None of them have helped. I am doing this instead of getting work done, which is defeating the whole purpose of using Ubuntu. It's heartbreaking to be honest. Please note that this is a desktop machine. I'm assuming power management is primarily for laptops, but the iwconfig does state that power management is on, so who knows. The recommended router changes I did not do, since the current router settings are (I think) required for some of the older devices I have, and because the current settings work on all my modern devices including Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7. I do appreciate the advice though, and I'll look into it when I have time. Anything else to try? Update #2 I booted into Ubuntu 12.04.3 from a dvd, and the same problems exist. I have a separate old desktop machine with 12.04 installed that has no wireless problems at all. So obviously the problem is wireless hardware compatibility in both 12.04.03 LTS and 13.04. Update #3 The same problems exist even when using a wired connection. I plugged an ethernet cable directly to the router and the network manager added an "Auto Ethernet" entry, but it cannot establish a connection to it. So the problem is not specific to wireless. Meanwhile, I purchased a Trendnet N300 wireless USB adapter, TEW-664UB. I plugged it in, but I have no idea how to get Ubuntu to try and use it. Can anyone tell me how? Can I download a package on another computer and copy the .deb over to do an install, etc? I'm installing windows 7 to double check that the internet connection works there and it's not just some magically faulty hardware. Thanks for your help.

  I'm attempting to get Rails to play nice with the Digg API's OAuth. I'm using the oauth gem (ruby one, not the rails one). • UTF-8 BOM in php response to mootools xmlhttprequest

  Hi, I'm writing my first little AJAX-enabled Joomla component. I'm using mootools. I got a xmlhttprequest to contact my Joomla component, and the component returns a response - just plain text echoed by php, like echo 'Hello World!'; It's all working fine, except wireshark tells me that the response is prepended with \357\273\277\357\273\277 when it gets read by the javascript on the client side. This shows up as a little square before the response in an alert box that the script shows. I don't explicitly set the encoding on the xmlhttprequest; mootools docs say that it defaults to UTF8. What's the right way to handle this? Should I be setting the encoding on the request? Mime type? Should the javascript get rid of it? I'm not planning to have any characters requiring UTF8 in the response, so using plain old ascii would be ok for me too. Thanks

  Hi, I created an GWT project in eclipse. Now I tried to implement openId with using the openid4java library. I imported the .jar files via properties--java build path: openid4java-0.9.5.jar lib/*.jar In addition I copied the .jar files into the war/WEB-INF/lib directory. The problem at hand comes up when I call the authenticate() method. Then I get a: HTTP ERROR 500 Problem accessing /openid/openid.   Hi! I've been using sIRF for a while but it was the first time I watch the traffic between the client and the server. There is only one file for sIRF, nyala.swf. I am using replacements for some headings, at most 5 or 6 at a time on one page. I can see from firebug the a separate request is going to server for the same swf file. I think I saw a config option to change this behavior but I couldn't find it again. Any ideas?

• Debug .Net Framework's source code only shows disassembly in Visual Studio 2010

  Hi! I'm trying to debug .Net Framework's source code using Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I followed the steps described in Raj Kaimal's post but I must be doing something wrong since the only code I'm getting to see is the disassembly code: As you can see in the image, the Go to Source Code and the Load Symbols options are disabled. Nevertheless, symbols are downloaded from Microsoft's server since I can see them inside the local cache directory. The code I'm debugging goes as follow: var wr = WebRequest.Create("http://www.google.com"); Console.WriteLine("Web request created"); var req = wr.GetRequestStream(); Console.Read(); When I hit F11 to step into the first line of code, a window pops us looking for the "WebRequst.cs" file inside "f:\dd\ndp\fx\src\Net\System\Net\WebRequest.cs" which does not exists on my machine. Any simple way of doing that?

• DateTime from Javascript post to Controller in ASP.NET results in null (01/01/0001)

  This is driving me crazy, similar to this. If I use a standard form and no javascript the controller correctly binds the datetime. However when I'm posting from a form it always binds as null: "MyObject.Name": "Test name", "MyObject.Date": "5/1/2001" I've tried a couple of variations, 5-1-2001, etc. but cannot seem to get it to take. I can confirm that it is being passed to the server as it shows up in the Request.Form string. My culture is Gregorian and I've set: Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = CultureInfo.InvariantCulture; In Application_BeginRequest(). What gives?

• Testing install procedure of a program requiring administrative privileges

  I'm trying to write automated test, to ensure that the installer for my program works okay. The program can be installed for all users (requires admin privs), or for current user (does not require admin privs). The program can also autoupdate itself, which in some cases requires admin privileges, and in some cases doesn't. I'm looking for a way where I can have an automated test click "Yes, Allow" on the UAC dialogs, so I can write tests for all different scenarios, on many different operating systems, so that I can be confident when I make changes to the installer that I didn't break anything. Obviously, the installer process itself cannot do this. However, I control the complete machine, and could easily start some sort of daemon process with administrative rights, that the testprogram could make a socket connection to, to request it to "please click ok on the UAC now".

  I am starting to write some code for A/B testing in a Grails web application. I want to ensure that requests from the same IP address always see the same variation. Rather than store a map of IP-variant, is it OK to simply turn the IP address into an integer by removing the dots, then use that as the seed for a random number generator? The following is taking place in a Grails Filter: def ip = request.remoteAddr def random = new Random(ip.replaceAll(/\./, '').toInteger()) def value = random.nextBoolean() session.assignment = value // value should always be the same for a given IP address I know that identifying users by IP address is not reliable, and I will be using session variables/cookies as well, but this seems to be useful for the case where we have a new session, and no cookies set (or the user has cookies disabled).

  The method DotNetOpenAuth.OpenId.RelyingParty.IAuthenticationRequest.RedirectToProvider() is documented never to return: Redirects the user agent to the provider for authentication. Execution of the current page terminates after this call. However, it does return under the latest implementation (3.4.3).   I have a web app that sends messages to an Amazon SQS Queue. Amazon sqs lib throws a 'AmazonSQSException' since the message contained invalid binary character. The message is the referrer obtained from an incoming http request. • Processing potentially large STDIN data, more than once

  I'd like to provide an accessor on a class that provides an NSInputStream for STDIN, which may be several hundred megabytes (or gigabytes, though unlikely, perhaps) of data. When I caller gets this NSInputStream it should be able to read from it without worrying about exhausting the data it contains. In other words, another block of code may request the NSInputStream and will expect to be able to read from it. Without first copying all of the data into an NSData object which (I assume) would cause memory exhaustion, what are my options for handling this? The returned NSInputStream does not have to be the same instance, it simply needs to provide the same data. The best I can come up with right now is to copy STDIN to a temporary file and then return NSInputStream instances using that file. Is this pretty much the only way to handle it? Is there anything I should be cautious of if I go the temporary file route?

• Is it a good idea to cache data from web services into a database?

  Let's assume that Stackoverflow offers web services where you can retrieve all the questions asked by a specific user. A request to get all question from user A can result in the following json output: { { "question": "What is rest?", "date_created": "20/02/2010", "votes": 1, }, { "question": "Which database to use for ...", "date_created": "20/07/2009", "votes": 5, }, } If I want to manipulate and present the data in any ways that I want, will it be wise to dump it in a local database? At some point, I will also want to retrieve all answers for each question and store them in a local database. The workflow that I'm thinking is: User logs in. Web services retrieve all questions asked by the logged in user, dump them in a local database. User wants all answers for a specific question, another web service does the retrieval and dump them in a local database. After user logs out, delete from the local database all questions and answers from that user.

  Hi, I have a question: In Flash, I have the ability to save certain info onto the server. Now the problem is the user needs to be authenticated as admin in order to do so. I can't use sessions, since if you work longer than 20 minutes in the Flash application, the session is gone. The way I see it, I have 2 possibilities: 1. passing a parameter (bIsAdmin) to Flash from the Website. 2. Launch a http-get request, to get this value (bIsAdmin) from an ashx handler on application startup, when the session has not yet exired. In my opinion, both possibilities are not really secure... So, Which one is safer, 1 or 2? Or does anybody have a better idea ? In my opinion, 1 is safer, because with 2, you can just switch a packet tamperer in between, and bang, you're admin, with permission to save (or overwrite, =delete) anything.
