• About XSS vulnerability, what does make a input vulnerable?

  Hi! I've been reading about XSS and I made a simple form with a text and submit input, but when I execute <script>alert();</script> on it, nothing happens, the server gets that string and that's all. What do I have to do for make it vulnerable?? (then I'll learn what shouldn't do hehe) Cheers.

• Google Maps API v3 show local businesses/points of interest

  I know at some point I'd come across a Google service built into their API that would provide local information as markers on the viewport (schools, hospitals, etc.)-- I believe this was a simple control that could be added just like the normal map controls, to allow users to turn it on or off with a checkbox or button. I can't seem to find this feature documented anywhere in the v3.0 API docs. Can anyone provide some information on this, or let me know if it was deprecated? Thanks

  Hello: I have a simple webpage that displays the credit balance for calling cards. So far without any problems, with HTML, PHP and mysql, I was able to retrieve the balance from a data base. But I have to display the result in ANOTHER PAGE, wich looks akward because the page must reload. I took a look at Cairo docs but I cant see how Athens is related to Cairo. http://zetcode.com/gfx/cairo/basicdrawing/ In the above link I cant find any equivalent for cairo_set_line_width(cr, 1); I tried to look inside Athens but is nowhere to be found. Overall I find the Athens architecture quite confusing though Cairo looks simple. Any idea how to makes this work ?

• Enumerate printers on a Mac

  So, I'm familiar how to enumerate the printers using the Windows API, there are a ton of examples out there. What I gathered from here is that I can find the printers in the /Library/Printers/ directory. When I searched there, I found more folders which didn't really mean anything to me. To keep it simple, how do I query the mac to get a list of printers (local and networked) "attached" to the system? Or can anyone point me in the right direction?

  I've been using the MSDN Library to create semaphores, located at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.threading.semaphore.aspx However, the examples are using Managed code (requires /clr), and I need to use Unmanaged code because FreeType doesn't like working with Managed code it seems. How would I go about creating 2 simple threads which use a semaphore if I'm using unmanaged code? Many thanks for your help.

  This is a simple database security & performance question, but I've always used either a special user (eg. mydbuser), or Windows' built-in NETWORK SECURITY account as the owner when attaching databases to my SQL Server instances. When deploying my database to a production server, is there a specific user I should stick to or avoid? I would think that using an account with a set password could open the database up to a potential security issue.
