    I've got portions of pages being replaced with HTML retrieved via AJAX calls. Some of the HTML coming back has JavaScript that needs to be run once in order to initialize the accompanying HTML (setting up event handlers). Since the document has already been loaded, when I replace chunks of HTML using jQuery's .html function, having jQuery(document).ready(function() {...}); doesn't execute since the page loaded long before and this is just a snippet of HTML being replaced. What's the best way to attach event handlers whose code is packaged along with the HTML it's interested in, when that content is loaded via AJAX? Should I just put a procedural block of javascript after the HTML , so that when I insert the new HTML block, jQuery will execute the javascript immediately? Is the HTML definitely in the DOM and ready to be acted upon by JavaScript which is in the same .html call?

For example: obj = {}; jQuery(itemsFromDom).each(function() { element = jQuery(this); name = element.attr("id"); value = element.attr("value"); //Here's the problem obj.name = value; }); If "itemsFromDom" includes an element with an id of "myId", I want "obj" to have a property named "myId". The above gives me "name". How, in javascript, do I name a property of an object using a variable?

    What I want is to use a boolean value from applicationContext.xml (Jboss configuration file) in my javascript. Currently I use Spring to inject a value configured in applicationContext.xml into my backingbean. Then I put an output text in my jsp like this <h:outputText id="idValue" styleClass="foo" value="" rendered="#{bean.isRendered}"/> In my JavaScript I try following jQuery(function(){ bRedirect = jQuery("#foo").value != undefined; ... All this looks so terrible to me, even though it works fine. There must be a smarter way than doing what I do. Note that I am running JSF1.2 and therefore must use jQuery instead of $ and also select by unique class (foo) and not by id, which may be bad practice as well. Thank you in advance. alfons

  • Trouble deciding how to add popup menu to eclipse plugin using either action ObjectContributions or command handlers

    The issue is this: Most things I read on the web says that we should avoid actions when creating popup menus because the command framework allows for more decoupling. Example: http://wiki.eclipse.org/FAQ_What_is_the_difference_between_a_command_and_an_action%3F Fair enough. But I am having a heck of a time getting the command framework to add my menu when I right click on a .java file inside the editor, and only when I click inside the editor. I can get the menu to show (using 'with' and the activeEditor variable), but it also shows when I right click on the java file inside the package explorer, which I don't want. I suspect it's because the file is already open inside the editor. I also have a menu that gets added when I right click on the java file inside the package explorer, using IComplilationUnit. That works fine. So my problem is solved using a popup menu action for when I click inside the file. I also get access to to all the ISelection stuff there. But the coupling is to high and I lose the flexability of using handlers. I'm looking for either: Tell me I'm doing it the only way possible; or Tell me how to have my popup appear only when I right click on the java file editor. Regards

  • Error messages in ASP.NET with jQuery UI

    I've been using my own Error reporting module which was combination of simple c# and jQueryUI Dialog. Problem is that once error or success occurs i do write it's value to session. It does work pretty good on pages with Responce.Redirect on error but not on pages where i catch an error and then return to same form. My question is why does session which added pre-postback fails to load in pages where i have return statement on some condition. And if there another way to save errors and success message except in session ? Maybe global variables or something like that ...

  • Cannot "Install New Software" in Eclipse 3.5

    I have just installed Eclipse 3.5 for Java EE developers ("Galileo"). I need to add an extra plugin, but when I select the "Install New Software ..." menu item, nothing happens. Literally nothing - no dialog opens, no error message is displayed. If I have the Debug window open, no message are displayed. If I go to Preferences - Install/Update - Available Software Sites, that dialog opens OK, I can manage the list of update sites, and test the connections, and they all appear OK. But I cannot get to use them to actually install anything. Is it just broken, or could there be something more subtle wrong? Thanks.

  • Rails 3 namespacing requires model to be defined twice?

    I'm pulling my hair out trying to understand namespacing in Rails 3. I've tried following a few different tutorials, and the only way I can get my models to work is if I define my model in both the base directory and my namespace directory. If I only define the model in the namespace directory it expects it to define both Model and Namespace::Model, as below: LoadError (Expected .../app/models/plugins/chat.rb to define Chat): or LoadError (Expected .../app/models/plugins/chat.rb to define Plugins::Chat): I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I could really use a pointer in the right direction.   • UITableView animations for a "lazy" UI design?

    I have a UITableViewController that allows the user to perform editing tasks. Now, once a user has committed his change, the table view doesn't directly change the model and updates the table, rather "informs" the model what the user wants to do. The model in turn updates accordingly and then posts a notification that it has been changed. As far as I've seen, I need to begin/end updates on the tableview and in between change the model to its' final form. My changes though, are asynchronous and cannot guarantee to update the model before 'tableview endupdates' is called. Currently, each time I receive a 'model did change' notificaiton, I reload the entire table. So, how can I really make cell animations (delete/insert) work? Should the model fire a notification for each little change instead of the entire table?

    In my mobile web application, I have a need to examine the EXIF orientation tag of an image file selected using an input type=file control, and this needs to be done on the client side in javascript, before the selected image file gets uploaded to the server. I have seen several threads similar to this but most of them say to use a library called binaryajax.js to be able to access the EXIF data from the file object. Unfortunately, simply including binaryajax.js in my project causes an Access Denied error in jQuery 1.7.1, and I have no idea why this is happening. This error precludes me from using this jquery library. So I am looking for a solution that does not use this library. Another library I have tried to use is jquery.exif.js and I also get an Access Denied Error Trying to use it.

Problem is i need the same module be implemented for 3 different systems and to use jQuery UI modal boxes for UI. when i redirect to another page ie. db connection error i redirect to error page when i use return to same page ie. input value 1 bigger than value 2 when it should be other way around ASP.NET Ajax UpdatePanel errors, wrong input for controls within UpdatePanel that doesn't do regular postpacks. thanks for any help with implementation...

    Given that I have a Listing model that has many images and each image has one attachment, how can I have the listing_id be part of the folder structure? Like so: system/photos/[listing_id]/:id I know that using :id will output the id of the image record.     is it able to "override/overwrite" an input element fixed value using javascript and/or jquery? i.e. if i have an input element like this: <div id="myDiv"> <input type="text" name="inputs" value="someValue" /> </div> is it possible to make a jquery object of that element and then change its value to something else then rewrite the jquery object to the dom?? i'm trying but obviously i haven't got good results! i've been trying something like this: $('input').val("someOtherDynamicValue"); var x = $('input'); $("#myDiv").html(x);

    I want to create events for my classes. Say I create a CMS application that has a Article object. I create events like: OnEdit OnCreate OnDelete PreCreate PreDelete Now I want someone to be able to hook into these events, and add their custom functionality at each event they wish. I don't want them touching the core source code, so they would have to wire these custom methods to fire somewhere else. I'm new to both python and django so please be as detailed as possible if you can.

  • UI to allow 700+ multiple choices

    In my desktop .NET application I have written(for internal use) where I need to allow my users to apply diagnosis's to a Member Plan. There are currently 700 in the system and growing. I need to allow them to add multiple diapnosis's at once. I currently am allowing this through a combo check list box. This works but is INSANELY unweildly for both myself and the users. What I am looking for is a how I could go about displaying these to the users. Ideally I would need to show two criteria for each each as well. Diagnosis Name and Diagnosis Code Ideas? How would you tackle this? I am using .Net 3.5sp1 and SQL 2005 for the backend. I don't care if the solution is WPF or Winforms.

  • Joomla get plugin id

    I wrote a Joomla plugin which will eventually load a library. The path to library is a plugin parameter, as such when the path is incorrect, a message pops up in the backend, together with a link to edit the plugin parameters: /administrator/index.php?option=com_plugins&view=plugin&client=site&task=edit&cid[]=36 See the 36 at the end? That's my plugin's id in the database (table jos_plugins). My issue is that this id changes on installation, ie, on different installs, it would be something else. So I need to find this id programmatically. The problem is that I couldn't find this id from the plugin object itself (as to why not, that would be joomla's arguably short-sighted design decision). So unless you know about some neat trick, (I've checked and double checked JPlugin and JPluginHelper classes), I'll be using the DB.     I am having application.html where I used jquery.validate.js and it works fine and submit my data to process.php. But I want if there is an error generated by jquery.validate.js then I know the how many errors generated by validate.js in application.php. I am going to implement if there are number of errors generated then uploading function will be disable. If there is no error generated then uploading function will work.
