• wkhtmltopdf - cannot convert local file

  I just downloaded version 10.0 for opensuse v. 11.3. I can convert a webpage (ie www.google.com) using it but cannot convert a local file. I grant all permissions on the file (& i've even tried running under sudo to no avail). This is the error: "Loading pages (1/6) Error: Failed loading page file:///file.html". The file exists but wkhtmltopdf refuses to load it. I even tried version 9.9 w/ the same result What am I missing?

• Netgear Wireless-n 150 wrn1000v2

  I'm not sure if this is the place to ask this question, move it if it's not. I'm trying to fix a wireless network. It only connects to a few devices and when it does work the connection is spotty. The router is a netgear wireless-n 150 wrn1000v2. Connecting to the router isn't a big problem, but connecting to the internet via WiFi is. I can't upgrade the firmware becuase it is from Comcast and it seems as though they only allow their versions of the firmware. I've monitored the network with wireshark and I see that the devices that are having trouble connecting are constantly asking "who is 192.168.1.1 tell 192.168.1.x" where x is the ip for the device. 192.168.1.1 is the router. This is from running wireshark on the wireless device. What does this mean. At this point I feel like buying a new router is the only option.

For example i want to save each parameter into a String array. So i'd like: contentScriptType="text/ecmascript" width="1024" zoomAndPan="magnify" contentStyleType="text/css" viewBox="0 0 1024 768" height="768" etc etc to be saved into a string array, is there anyway to do this using the split method, or can anybody suggest an easier, more efficient way to do this?

• on Red Hat Enterprise and CentOS, what is creating /var/run/reboot-required?

  On CentOS 5.8+ and Red Hat Enterprise 6+, when installing/updating packages, I notice a flag file /var/run/reboot-required is created when appropriate. On Ubuntu (and Debian too, I'm guessing), if package "update-notifier-common" is installed, a package postinst script triggers creation of this flag file. On RHEL/CentOS I can't figure out how this is happening. For instance, on RHEL and CentOS I recently installed several updates and /var/run/reboot-required was created. One of them was an "openssl" package upgrade. I assume this was what created the flag file, since on Ubuntu it also works this way. However I looked at all "rpm -q --scripts" for each updated package, and didn't see anything that was likely to have created that flag file. Mostly I saw "postinstall program: /sbin/ldconfig". So my questions are: What creates this flag file on RHEL/CentOS? Does it require a special package to be installed, analogous to the "update-notifier-common" package on Ubuntu?

• Using in app purchase to unlock features vs. using free & paid app versions for iPhone

  I have an app that I was going to release as a free (lite) version with some of the total functionality and a paid full version with advanced functionality. Now, with in app purchase for free apps I am thinking of going that route with the ability to unlock features as needed. I'm not talking about a trial version that expires.I want people to be able to try out the app and get an idea of the interface and functionality before deciding to purchase the full functionality of each major section of the app, basically. Here's an analogy of what my app would be like. Let's say you have a cooking app that teaches you to cook in different styles. There could be major section for French, Italian, and Chinese. Each section could have some rudiments unlocked in the free app so users can see the UI and basics of the functionality. Then, the user could decide to purchase each major section (or not) individually with in app purchase or buy the full versioned app (with the free/paid model). One concern I have with offering a free app with in app purchase would be with feedback. I would be very clear in my description in the app store that there is in app purchase for full features but I'm worried that less serious users could/would leave negative feedback. I suppose that's always a risk but curious about any experience with this. It also seems that it could be a whole lot more complicated keeping track of what portions of the app are locked and unlocked with in app purchase. I know I'd have to have all the code for the full functionality and "lock" the portions that haven't been purchased. How do people usually lock portions of their code? I'm not talking about the process of purchasing (I've read the In App Purchase Programming Guide) but after the purchase has been made. Would I just keep track of what the user has purchased and put conditionals on the sections that are initially locked? Or is there another way to do this as well? My instinct is for the in app purchase (particularly since users could purchase the major sections that they want individually).

• Windows 2003 SBS: no more CAL sold

  I just discovered a hidden unmanaged server into a remote location. This is a Windows 2003 SBS with 5 CAL per device. There is currently 12 computers connected. So I want to buy more CALs. But SBS 2003 CALs are not sold anymore. Neither SBS 2008 CALs, which can be downgraded to 2003. And 2011 CALs can't be downgraded. So no legal solution if we want to stay with 2003. Sort of programmatic obsolescence. We can upgrade the server to 2011. But I'd like to let him as is (I don't "repair" working servers, and this often lead to bigger problems, especially on those non managed servers). Anyone see another solution ?

• Upgrading my home network to Gigabit Ethernet and Wireless-N turns out slower than before

  My home network has three desktops, three laptops and some NAS drives. All desktops and NAS drives support Gigabit LAN and all laptops support Wireless-N. I was running a 100 BaseT switch though. I recently purchased a Gigabit Ethernet Switch and an Wireless-N ADSL Modem-Router. After upgrading, I noticed that the wireless file transfer speeds from laptop-to-NAS and vice versa became terribly slow. Possibly even slower than before the upgrade. The transfer speeds from desktop-to-NAS (wired) have improved though. As an example, copying a 50GB file from laptop-to-NAS was estimated at 15 hours! Is there something I can do to improve this? Also, should I consider buying a dedicated wireless access point for speed rather than using the Wireless modem-router?

• Windows Server 2008 R2 Software Deployment on Active Directory - Schema Issue

  We have two servers, one running Windows Server 2003 SP2 and one running Windows Server 2008 R2. Both servers have their own versions of Group Policy Management (1.0.2 on 2003 and 6.0.0.1 on 2008). We are wanting to migrate everything over to the newer 2008 server, including software deployment. However, when I try to add a new software package using a .msi file, I get the following error: "The schema for the software installation data in the Active Directory does not match the required schema." I have tried two separate software packages and get the same error on the 2008 server. However, when I do the same on the 2003 server, it adds the software package without any problems. The .msi files I am using are up-to-date - one is the most recent version of Google Chrome. Is this problem caused by the different versions of the OS, or the Group Policy Management program? How do we "upgrade" our Active Directory to allow software deployment on the 2008 server? Thanks.

• How to prevent MSBUILD from copying dependent GAC assemblies to bin

  I have a msbuild task that builds my solution and I am migrating it from .net 3.5 to 4.0. I have some dependent DLLs that have Local Copy set to true. The 4.0 version of msbuild is not only copying the dependent DLL (which I want), it is also copying all dependent assemblies of that DLL from the 32 bit version of the GAC to my bin. Not only do I not want these files being copied from the GAC, I especially do not want the 32 bit versions for this 64 bit build. Has the behavior changed in msbuild 4.0? And does anyone know how to force msbuild to use the behavior in 3.5?

• Where did System.Design go?

  I am making a C# project in which I am using ScintillaNet, and it says: The referenced assembly "ScintillaNet" could not be resolved because it has a dependency on "System.Design, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" which is not in the currently targeted framework ".NETFramework,Version=v4.0,Profile=Client". Please remove references to assemblies not in the targeted framework or consider retargeting your project. I tried adding a reference to System.Design, but it doesn't exist in my list. Do I need to download it somewhere? I have MS Visual Studio 10.

• unable to install new versions of linux on my PC

  I have an MSI-RC410 motherboard with onboard ATI Radeon XPress 200 series Graphics card. I have used OpenSuse-11.0 on my PC for over an year. but when I tried to upgrade to OpenSuse-11.1, I managed to install it only to find that several features were missing. for example /dev/cdrom was missing. Also install DVD of Fedora 11 did not work. I have also tried Ubuntu-9.10 live cd. When I boot from the CD i get the initramfs command prompt. Still able to install old versions of these OSs. What is the reason for this behavior? Does it have to do anything with the new version of the linux kernel not being compatible with my hardware? What should i do to install new versions of Linux?

I would like to know the expenses involved, including: electricity costs (greater than light bulb?) internet costs (will I have to upgrade my internet? Or is 3-5Mbps upload speed fine for a web server with medium amount of traffic? Would I have to get a separate internet connection?) other unknown expenses Consider that I will configure the web server myself, so that is not an expense.   I am building a small service where users will be assigned a subdomain such as: myusername.myservice.com anotheruser.myservice.com I know that I can set up a wildcard vhost and using some configuration regex, serve the files like so: myusername.myservice.com ===> /var/www/myusername anotherusername.myservice.com ===> /var/www/anotherusername The problem is that I would like to allow users to alias their own domain names to their service. I understand that for the webserver, once the user adds the domain via my web interface, I can easily create a vhost for the domain in nginx and then refresh the webserver. The problem is that I would prefer to NOT let the users add an A record of my webserver's IP address as I would prefer to keep things flexible (when we upgrade our infrastructure to something more complex to scale). What is the best way to achieve this?

• MVC - Calling Controller Methods

  Hello, My application is following the MVC design pattern. The problem I keep running into is needing to call methods inside a Controller class from outside that Controller class (ex. A View class wants to call a Controller method, or a Manager class wants to call a Controller method). Is calling Controller methods in this way allowed in MVC? If it's allowed, what's the proper way to do it? According to the version of MVC that I am following (there seems to be so many different versions out there), the View knows of the Model, and the Controller knows of the View.   I'm connecting to Informix 6.5 using the IBM OLE DB Driver. Some clarification: Informix Dynamic Server Workgroup Edition. Please note that there are many versions of IDS/WE - it helps to be precise about which version you have. It might be something like 10.00.TC1; the version number could be as old as 7.xx.TCx, or as new as 11.50.TCx. If your server is not on Windows but on Unix - or is on 64-bit Windows - the letter 'T' would change to 'U' (32-bit Unix) or 'F' (64-bit - Unix or Windows), or even 'H' (a particular HP-UX configuration). When I try to create a dataset using the VS DataSet wizard, after clicking on test connection it tells me 'Base Table not found'? The OLEDB driver is the official one provided by IBM. The problem with the 'Table not found' dialog is that Visual Studio doesn't tell me the table name but only the error! Has anyone else had this problem?

  Hi, The server was upgraded from 10.5 from 10.6, during the upgrade the Reverse Zones were lost so I tried to recreate these but found that it's best to delete all zones, definitions and start again. So I've started again and Reverse Zones are appearing but I'm still having issues. • Motorola SBG6850 / Linksys WRT54G network problem

  I am trying to resolve issues with connecting my desktop and LAN capable printer to my network. I recently upgrade to the Motorola Cable Modem Gateway SBG6580 and have TWC coming into it, this works great for wired and wireless connectivity. Although, I am unable to connect to my device from this modem gateway. So, I am trying to cable a Linksys WRT54G (firmware 4.21.4 build 0) to the backside of the SBG6850 so I can use my printer on my network from both my wired desktop and wireless devices. I am pulling wireless off of the SBG6580 and do not want to change this. I have disable the wireless feature on the Linksys WRT54G at this moment. Can someone please help me through this dilemma? I am open to both wired and wireless solutions, but please tell me which approach your sharing in the first line of your response. Cheers!

I think I may have problems with the namespaces, but am not sure. Can anyone help with this?

  A client ask me to generate PDF in python, but i don't know if i have to pay the license or just use it. what do i have to do? In their web site said: XHTML2PDF is dual-licensed: 1. GNU General Public License Version 2.0 (GPLv2) 2. • SBS 2003 crashes often due to limited memory

  I have a Windows SBS 2003 Std that regularly crashes, in about every 20th day. The only thing I can see in the logs is that used memory increases with about 30MB/day. The process that uses more and more memory is sqlservr. We don't have much installed on the server; a Point-Of-Sale-system that uses Pervasive SQL as database and an Accounting application. We just have 2GB of RAM and I could upgrade to 4GB but I think that this just delay the problem. Is there any solution to this problem? Could I limit sqlservr to some memory?
