• Problem with returning values from a helper method in Rails

  I want to print some objects in a table having 2 rows per object, like this: <tr class="title"> <td>Name</td><td>Price</td> </tr> <tr class="content"> <td>Content</td><td>123</td> </tr> I wrote a helper method in products_helper.rb, based on the answer of this question. def write_products(products) products.map { |product| content_tag :tr, :class => "title" do content_tag :td do link_to h(product.name), product, :title=>product.name end content_tag :td do product.price end end content_tag :tr, :class => "content" do content_tag :td, h(product.content) content_tag :td, product.count end }.join end But this does not work as expected. It only returns the last node - the last <td>123</td> What should I do to make it work?

And the implementation section conforms to the NSCoding protocol as expected. HOWEVER, when I add a new class which inherits from this class, i.e. #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "SelectableObject.h" @interface Pet : SelectableObject <NSCoding> { } @end I suddenly get the following compiler error in the Selectable object class! SelectableObject.h:16: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'interface' This makes no sense to me. Why is the interface declaration for the SelectableObject class suddenly broken? I also import it in a couple of other classes I've written... Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!   I have a web form in SPARK which allow the editing of a Facility class that contains Rooms. When editing the Facility all the Rooms are listed for editing too. The form works fine for editing, but I would like to include a button "Add Room" that adds a new blank room below the existing ones. Any idea how this is accomplished? Currently I am doing this in my SPARK page: [All the Facility editing stuff...] <p>Room</p> <div class="small">Enter the rooms associated with this facility.</div> <div class="add"> <div id="room"> <AddFacilityRoom each="var roomModel in Model.FacilityRooms" RoomModel="roomModel" Index="roomModelIndex" /> </div> <a id="addRoom" class="add" href="events/room/add.mvc">Add a room</a> </div> AddFacilityRoom contains the html elements for editing a room.   I’m Working as deployer and server administrator. We use Jboss 4.0x AS to deploy our applications. The issue I'm facing is, Whenever we redeploy/restart the server, server.log is getting created but after sometime the logging goes off. Yes it is not at all updating the server.log file. Due to this, we could not trace the other critical issues we have. Actually we have two separate nodes and we do deploy/restarting the server separately on two nodes. We are facing the issue in both of our test and production environment. I could not trace out where exactly the issue is. Could you please help me in resolving the issue? If we have any other issues, we can check the log files. If log itself is not getting updated/logged, how can we move further in analyzing the issues without the recent/updated logs?   Hey. I'm trying to build a Hibernate Criteria query to find entities that have a specific element inside a collection. With pure SQL I can do a query like this: String author = "Matt"; String query = "SELECT * FROM Book " + "WHERE BOOK_ID IN " + "(SELECT BOOK_ID FROM Book_Authors " + "WHERE authors = :author )"; List<Book> result = session.createSQLQuery(query) .addEntity(Book.class) .setParameter("author", author) .list(); This works all good and well, and I get out all books that Matt has been a part of writing. The project I work in, however, uses the Criteria API instead of raw SQL, and I haven't found a way to express the same query in that form. I've taken a look on the Restrictions API and the closest I've found is Restions.in(propertyName, collection) but that works the other way around (one value in object, many values to match against). Any ideas?

• Using pointers, references, handles to generic datatypes, as generic and flexible as possible

  In my application I have lots of different data types, e.g. Car, Bicycle, Person, ... (they're actually other data types, but this is just for the example). Since I also have quite some 'generic' code in my application, and the application was originally written in C, pointers to Car, Bicycle, Person, ... are often passed as void-pointers to these generic modules, together with an identification of the type, like this: Car myCar; ShowNiceDialog ((void *)&myCar, DATATYPE_CAR); The 'ShowNiceDialog' method now uses meta-information (functions that map DATATYPE_CAR to interfaces to get the actual data out of Car) to get information of the car, based on the given data type. That way, the generic logic only has to be written once, and not every time again for every new data type. Of course, in C++ you could make this much easier by using a common root class, like this class RootClass { public: string getName() const = 0; }; class Car : public RootClass { ... }; void ShowNiceDialog (RootClass *root); The problem is that in some cases, we don't want to store the data type in a class, but in a totally different format to save memory. In some cases we have hundreds of millions of instances that we need to manage in the application, and we don't want to make a full class for every instance. Suppose we have a data type with 2 characteristics: A quantity (double, 8 bytes) A boolean (1 byte) Although we only need 9 bytes to store this information, putting it in a class means that we need at least 16 bytes (because of the padding), and with the v-pointer we possibly even need 24 bytes. For hundreds of millions of instances, every byte counts (I have a 64-bit variant of the application and in some cases it needs 6 GB of memory). The void-pointer approach has the advantage that we can almost encode anything in a void-pointer and decide how to use it if we want information from it (use it as a real pointer, as an index, ...), but at the cost of type-safety. Templated solutions don't help since the generic logic forms quite a big part of the application, and we don't want to templatize all this. Additionally, the data model can be extended at run time, which also means that templates won't help. Are there better (and type-safer) ways to handle this than a void-pointer? Any references to frameworks, whitepapers, research material regarding this?
