• How do I specify a dynamic position for the start of substring?

  As in the example, I am trying to substring the Video_full column in a data.frame (video_data_2) I am working on. I want to keep all the characters after the period. The period is always present, there is only one period and it is in a different position in each value for the column. Date Video_full Instances 1 Apr 1, 2010 installs/AA.intro_video_1 546 2 Apr 1, 2010 installs/ABAC.intro_video_2 548 I got substring to work; video_data_2$Video_full <- substring(video_data_2$Video_full,11) And strsplit also; strsplit("installs/AA.intro_video_1 ",'[.]') I'm just not able to figure out how to start the substring in a dynamic position or only keep the second value returned by strsplit.   Let me start by saying I have looked at many similar questions asked, but all of them relate to Timestamp and DateTime field type without indexing. At least that is my understanding. As we all know, there are certain advantages when it comes to DateTime. Putting them aside for a minute, and assuming table's engine is InnoDB with 10+ million records, which query would perform faster when criteria is based on: DateTime with index int with index In other words, it is better to store date and time as DateTime or UNIX timestamp in int? Keep in mind there is no need for any built-in MySQL functions to be used.

  Hello Friends, I am writing one simple web page with bunch of textboxes and a button control. Now when user finished editing the values on this text boxes user has to click the button and this button invoke heavily process intensive algorithm on server side code based on the data received from client (Textboxes) And it could some time takes up to 30 to 45 minutes to complete the whole operation so the current thread is still inside the button click event handler function. That background task only provides one event, and the web page subscribes to it to get some text data after each stage of processing I was wandering if there is any way I can keep user up-to-date with what is the current progress on that background task. I have div element to print the current status information So I am looking for some sort of reverse mechanism then "get" and "post". I have read some articles on the Comet (programming) but I can't find any easy or definitive answer Thanks in advance

  I've been racking my brain about how to do this in one query without PHP code. In a nutshell, I have a table that records email activity. For the sake of this example, here is the data: recipient_id activity date 1 delivered 2011-08-30 1 open 2011-08-31 2 delivered 2011-08-30 3 delivered 2011-08-24 3 open 2011-08-30 3 open 2011-08-31 The goal: I want to display to users a single number that tells how many recipients open their email within 24 hours. E.G. "Users that open their email within 24 hours: 13 Readers" In the case of the sample data, above, the value would be "1". (Recipient one was delivered an email and opened it the next day. Recipient 2 never opened it and recipient 3 waited 5 days.) Can anyone think of a way to express the goal in a single query? Reminder: In order to count, the person must have a 'delivered' tag and at least one 'open' tag. Each 'open' tag only counts once per recipient.

  I have a table MRU, that has 3 columns. (VALUE varchar(255); TYPE varchar(20); DT_ADD datetime) This is a table simply storing an entry and recording the date time it was recorded. What I wanted to do is: delete the oldest entry whenever I add a new entry that exceeds a certain number. here is my query: delete from MRU where type = 'FILENAME' ORDER BY DT_ADD limit 1; The query returns an error.   I'm having some trouble understanding how the delay macro works in Clojure. It doesn't seem to do what expect it to do (that is: delaying evaluation). As you can see in this code sample: ; returns the current time (defn get-timestamp [] (.getTime (java.util.Date.))) ; var should contain the current timestamp after calling "force" (def current-time (delay (get-timestamp))) However, calling current-time in the REPL appears to immediately evaluate the expression, even without having used the force macro: user=> current-time #<Delay@19b5217: 1276376485859> user=> (force current-time) 1276376485859 Why was the evaluation of get-timestamp not delayed until the first force call?

I am showing the count of orders on the y-axis and the day on the x-axis. In my database, there is table called "order" in which order data is placed: order date, user_id, order_price, etc. For example, if on 4 July, 10 orders are placed, on 5 july, 20 orders are placed, and so on. How can I get the count of orders placed for day of the current month?

• Getting 'choice' to work in Highline Ruby Gem without error and getting variable from it

  I'm having a couple of problems using Highline in Ruby, and trying to get the choice element, detailed here, to work. At the moment the following code produces the error "error: wrong number of arguments (0 for 1). Use --trace to view backtrace" How do I get the variable out of choice? At the moment I have the 'do' setup, but I have no idea about how to get the variable the user has chosen out and into a variable for use elsewhere. • How can you get the average of the count of records in Reporting Services

  I have a report where I'm counting the number of records for a day. At the bottom, I have the total records for that time period. I'd like to display the average records for each day. An example: Day Tests 1/1/2010 5 1/2/2010 10 1/3/2010 8 Average 7.7 Total 23 I can accomplish this by aggregating the data by date in SQL then just doing the Average and Sum of the count from SQL, but that would complicate the report considerably as I'm doing other column filters for the types of tests performed. There seems to be a simple way to accomplish this that I'm missing. I can't do Average(Count(field)) in SSRS, unfortunately. Is there something I'm missing, or is there really not a way to accomplish this simply?

• Facebook iframe app redirecting https to http, how?

  I'm trying to get an app working within Facebook, but it seems that no matter what I try including forcing just https in the app settings (see screen shot), the iframe source (Facebooks canvas) seems to change the https address to http (301) which is then producing SEC7111: HTTPS security errors in IE? • Nesting arrays into NSDictionary object (Objective-C)

  I would like to define tasks using NSDictionary, which I'd like to save in a plist file (I didn't have much luck with Core Data so far), but got stuck at two points: -- When using initWithObjectsAndKeys: I can change the data type to number or boolean, using NSDate's numberWithInt: and numberWithBool: methods, respectively. I can't seem to find the method to change the type to date though. I couldn't find anything like that in the documentation. -- The second problem I ran into was with the nested arrays. How can I add them to the dictionary? I have uploaded a picture to here of what I am trying to achieve. Thank you in advance!

  I'm trying to write a stored procedure to select employees who have birthdays that are upcoming. SELECT * FROM Employees WHERE Birthday > @Today AND Birthday < @Today + @NumDays This will not work because the birth year is part of Birthday, so if my birthday was '09-18-1983' that will not fall between '09-18-2008' and '09-25-2008'. Is there a way to ignore the year portion of date fields and just compare month/days? This will be run every monday morning to alert managers of birthdays upcoming, so it possibly will span new years. Here is the working solution that I ended up creating, thanks Kogus.   Hi, We have a web application that creates a dynamic PHP page with all the MySQL stored details a user has entered via a number a forms. So far so good, but we want this information stored some how to be refereed to at a later date, as an administrator can make changes to the data, which reflects on calculations that are worked out from this saved data. When going back over this saved data we need to be able to see all the information submitted for that particular calculation, so if that data has changed we will see what is was relating to that calculation. Now we have thought about maybe a snapshot when the calculation is done, pdf of the webpage or something similar would do, but is this simple to do? I hope this makes sense...

• JQuery validation based on class?

  I have a form that will have dynamically created elements, one of those will be of date type. There can also be many fields of this type on my form, all which must be validated. I am using a strongly typed view in Asp MVC, so the name will change based on various factors. What I would like to do is validate based on a class name instead, since that will be constant for that type of field. Ie: <%= Html.TextBox("questionAnswers[" + index + "].AnswerValue", qa.AnswerValue, new { @class = "DateTypeClass" })%> So then I would need JQuery validation based on the classname DateTypeClass versus the Name. Any ideas?

• global counter in application: bad practice?

  In my C++ application I sometimes create different output files for troubleshooting purposes. Each file is created at a different step of our pipelined operation and it's hard to know file came before which other one (file timestamps all show the same date). I'm thinking of adding a global counter in my application, and a function (with multithreading protection) which increments and returns that global counter. Then I can use that counter as part of the filenames I create. Is this considered bad practice? Many different modules need to create files and they're not necessarily connected to each other.

On the same page I have form where I can input some textobox and with the click on the button make update on the same data in the database whis is at the first time loaded on the same page? The date is update, I can see it in SQL SERVER, but on the web page not. Its still the old data presents. After I close my application and run it again, then the new data appears on the page.

  SOLVED! I`m trying save data from array in variable. I have in controller: $data = array('upload_data' => $this->upload->data()); and I know that in this array are data about uploading file. One with this date is "file_name", and I want to save this value in controller at variable. I try with: $image_name= $data['file_name']; But this not working. I use CodeIginter 2.1.3 framework.   I have a database with a table which contains a start time and an end time. The user has to select both through the Android app, and then I have to retrieve the two times into my database. For now, I have 2 TimePicker in my xml file, and I have 2 TimePicker in my java file TimePicker start_time = (TimePicker) findViewById(R.id.timePickerStart); Can someone help me know how I should retrieve the times, and use them in java (add a listener, etc.). And also, should I use TimeStamp or Date in the database ? My purpose is to send a notification (Toast?) to the user at those times. So should I retrieve the hour and the minute separately ? I know how to do this, but I am not able to put this new string array back into the cell - mycell = { 'AIR' [780] [1] [734472] [0.01] ; ... 'ABC' [780] [1] [734472] [0.02]} I did this -- dates = datestr(cell2mat(mycell(:,4))) ; What I need as an answer is: {'AIR' [780] [1] '14-Dec-2010' [0.01] ; 'ABC' [780] [1] '23-Dec-2010' [0.03] ; } so that I can now send it to an excel file using xlswrite.m
