• Fill object data from several tables using hibernate mapping

  Hi all, I'd like to know if it is possible to fill up a class data from database using the hibernate hbm (mapping). For instance: public class someClass { List<OtherClass> otherClasses; List<YetAnotherClass> yetAnotherClasses; //Constructors ? class OtherClass { String name; //setters, getters } class YetAnotherClass { String name; //setters, getters } //setters, getters } Using an hbm can I fill in the data from tables OTHER_CLASS_TABLE and YET_ANOTHER_CLASS_TABLE? I have no such SOME_CLASS_TABLE since this info is for viewing only. I've been playing with the <join table=""><subselect> and different constructors... But it is not working Thanks!   Hi, I have a feeling of missing something obvious. UDP receiver application. It holds a collection of valid UDP sender IPs - only guys with IP on that list will be considered. Since that list must be looked at on every packet and UDPs are so volatile, that operation must be maximum fast. Good choice is Dictionary but it is a key-value structure and what I actually need here is a dictionary-like (hash lookup) key only structure. Is there something like that? I've abstracted the problem out here, and I'm hoping someone can help me understand how what I'm doing fails. I'm looping over a list of Items. These Items are actually instances of the subclasses TypeA and TypeB. For Type A, I want to display the options, for Type B I want to display the demands. When rendering the page for the first time, this works fine. At this point, i understand there is an error in the ApplyRequestValues Phases which is very early and so the previous state is restored and nothing changes. What I don't understand is that in order to fufill the condition for rendering "item.typeA" that object has to be an instance of TypeA. But here, it looks like that object passed the condition even though it was an instance of TypeB. It is like it is evaluating the inner dataTable (InnerItems) before evaluating the outer (outerItems). My working assumption is that I just don't understand how/when the rendered attribute is actually evaluated.

  I'm working at function from Joe Celkos book - Trees and Hierarchies in SQL for Smarties I'm trying to delete a subtree from an adjacency list but part my function is not working yet. I appear to be stumbling and getting caught in an infinite loop in this part. Perhaps there is a more correct syntax I am unaware of.

• Rails best practice on conditional parameters in a controller action

  I have a controller create action looks for one or more parameters in the following ruleset. Let's say we have two parameters, foo and bar. The rules are the following: 1) if foo doesn't exist in the parameter list, bar must. 2) if bar doesn't exist in the parameter list, foo must. 3) they can both co-exist. they can't both be omitted (that's redundant with my rules above :) ) Can anyone show an example in Rails on how this is handled in the controller? Should I use a before_filter? Would appreciate some guidance as this isn't something that ActiveRecord validates.. so I'd need to build an error message to the user directly from controller logic, not model logic. For bonus points, I output the error in XML, so if you can show how that's done, that'd be great. Hypothetically let's call the resource "Lorem", so it is created via http://foo/lorem.xml and we have lorem_controller.rb.

• JQuery: Specify placement of error messages inline using Metadata and Validate plugins

  I'm doing form validation using JQuery with the validate and metadata plugins. I'm using the metadata plugin so I can specify the rules and messages inline in the html form instead of in the javascript in the page . I'm getting an error when I try to specify the location of the error message using errorPlacement. (If I specify it in the section it works fine, but not if I specify it inline.) Here's what my html looks like: <input name="list" id="list1" type="checkbox" validate="{required:true, minlength:1, messages:{required:'Please select at least one newsletter.', minlength:'Please select at least one newsletter.'}, errorPlacement: function(error, element) { error.appendTo('#listserror');} }"> As reported by the validate debug function, the error is: "error.appendTo is not a function."   I'm learning C++ and the book I'm reading (The C++ Programming Language) says to not reinvent the wheel, to rely on the standard libraries. In C, I often end up creating a linked list, and link list iteration over and over again (maybe I'm doing that wrong not sure), so the ideas of containers available in C++, and strings, and algorithms really appeal to me. However I have read a little online, and heard some criticisms from my friends and coworkers about STL, so I thought I maybe I'd pick some brains here. I want to do something like this: IEnumerable<Car> redCars = GetRedCars(); IEnumerable<Car> greenCars = GetGreenCars(); IEnumerable<Car> blueCars = GetBlueCars(); foreach(Car c in (redCars + greenCars + blueCars)) { c.DoSomething(); } ... Is there a more concise way to do this? Seems like combinding IEnumberables should be trivial.

• Good way to cache data during Android application lifecycle?

  Hello, keeping my question short, I have creating application with 3 activities, where A - list of categories, B - list of items, C - single item. Data displayed in B and C is parsed from online XML. But, if I go trough A - B1 - C, then back to A and then back to B1 I would like to have it's data cached somewhere so I wouldn't have to request XML again. I'm new to Android and Java programming, I've googled a lot and still can't find (or simply do not have an idea where to look) a way to do what I want. Would storing all received data in main activity A (HashMaps? ContentProviders?) and then passing to B and C (if they get same request that was before) be a good idea?

• Entity Framework looking for wrong column

  I'm brand new to the Entity Framework and trying to learn all it can offer. • Entities Framework 4 doing a bulk delete

  I wish to know if there is a good way to do a bulk delete or delete multiple rows using the Entities Framework 4. I can't seam to find a DeleteAll command. The only one that is available is DeleteObject() which only takes one entity, I would like to perform a delete on a list of entities.Is there a better way than to loop trough the list? I did see an article that used ExecuteStoreQuery and created some sql that would perform the delete. Is there a better way than to perform any of these two options Please advice what is the best way to perform this action.

  I have a huge Collection (which I can cast as an enumerable using OfType<()) of objects. Each of these objects has a Category property, which is drawn from a list somewhere else in the application. This Collection can reach sizes of hundreds of items, but it is possible that only, say, 6/30 of the possible Categories are actually used. What is the fastest method to find these 6 Categories? The size of the huge Collection discourages me from just iterating across the entire thing and returning all unique values, so is there a faster method of accomplishing this? Ideally I'd collect the categories into a List.

On the Windows platform, this would be done using a module definition (.def) file which would contain a list of the external and internal names of the functions exported from the library. I have the following questions: How can I restrict the exported functions of a shared library to those I want (i.e. a .def file equivalent) Using .def files as an example, you can give a function an external name that is different from its internal name (useful for prevent name collisions and also redecorating mangled names etc) On windows I can use the EXPORT command (IIRC) to check the list of exported functions and addresses, what is the equivalent way to do this on Linux?

  I have the following associations: class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :brands, :join_table => 'brands_users' has_and_belongs_to_many :companies, :join_table => 'companies_users' end class Brand < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :company has_and_belongs_to_many :users, :join_table => 'brands_users' end class Company < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :users, :join_table => 'companies_users' has_many :brands, :order => :name end While editing a user I am using the checkbox list of brands. So that I can assign users 'access' to brands, the brands that show up are only the brands that belong to the current company (defined by the subdomain [using subdomain_fu]). The problem I am running into is that when using the default HABTM functionality and the checkbox list, upon save, Rails removes ALL user-brand associations, then re-adds just the ones for the form I just submitted.. How do I scope that to only remove associations of brands who belong to the current company, defined in the subdomain?

  I ran into troubles with MySQL on my CentOS. I had some problems and backed up my database and removed mysql with all dependencies. After that I ran reinstalled: yum groupinstall "MySQL Database" Installed without errors. Running the mysql daemon: service mysqld start Timeout error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon. Starting MySQL: [FAILED] I also ran # /usr/bin/mysql_install_db --user=mysql Installing MySQL system tables... 120112 1:49:44 [ERROR] Error message file '/usr/share/mysql/english/errmsg.sys' had only 480 error messages, but it should contain at least 481 error messages. Check that the above file is the right version for this program! 120112 1:49:44 [ERROR] Aborting Installation of system tables failed! Examine the logs in /var/lib/mysql for more information. You can try to start the mysqld daemon with: /usr/libexec/mysqld --skip-grant & and use the command line tool /usr/bin/mysql to connect to the mysql database and look at the grant tables: shell> /usr/bin/mysql -u root mysql mysql> show tables Try 'mysqld --help' if you have problems with paths. Using --log gives you a log in /var/lib/mysql that may be helpful. The latest information about MySQL is available on the web at http://www.mysql.com Please consult the MySQL manual section: 'Problems running mysql_install_db', and the manual section that describes problems on your OS.
