• Can't run ASP.NET MVC 2 web app on IIS 7.5

  I'm trying to run an ASP.NET MVC 2 web application under IIS on Windows 7, but I get a 403.14 error. Here are the steps to reproduce: Open Visual Studio 2010 Create a new ASP.NET MVC 2 project called MvcApplication1 Shift+F5 to run the app. You should see http://localhost:{random_port}/ and the page will render correctly. Click on MvcApplication1, and select "Properties". Go to the "Web" section. Select "Use Local IIS Web server" and create a virtual directory. Save. Shift+F5 to run the app. You should see http://localhost/MvcApplication1/ and an IIS error HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.. It's clear that for whatever reason, ASP.NET routing is not working correctly. Things I've already thought of and tried: Verified that all IIS features are enabled in "Turn Windows features on or off". Verified that the default website is configured to use .NET 4.0 Reassigned ASP.NET v4 scripmaps via aspnet_regiis -i in the v4.0.30319 directory. Here's the most amazing part - this is on a just-built machine. New copy of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, clean install of Visual Studio 2010 Premium, no other websites and no other work performed. Anything else I can try?

  In ASP.net web service if the above isn't specified , what is the response format by default? Also, if my web service below: [WebMethod()] public List<Sample> GenerateSamples(string[][] data) { ResultsFactory f = new ResultsFactory(data); List<Sample> samples = f.GenerateSamples(); return samples; } returns the list of objects, If I change the response format to JSON, I have to change the return type to string, then how do I access objects in my javascript? So my question is, is [ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)] necessary on the web service definition side? The way things are now, I can use samples array and access each object and its properties as I normally would in any OOP code, which is very convenient, and everything works no problem, but I just wanted to make sure that I am not missing anything in my set up. I took the basics of combining Jquery's ajax with asp.net from Encosia side, and the response type wasn't mentioned there - I read it on another site and am I not sure how vital it is.

• "OutputPath property is not set" error occurs only when calling MSBuild in CCNET

  I've made an MSBuild project that simply does an msbuild task with our solution file as parameter. I've defined a BeforeBuild target where I set some properties, and a Build target that executes the msbuild task. I've confirmed that no errors occured when building the msbuild script in the command line console. However, when I use it in the msbuild task in my CCNET project, I keep getting the following error: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.targets (483,9): error: The OutputPath property is not set for project 'MyProject.msbuild'. Please check to make sure that you have specified a valid combination of Configuration and Platform for this project. Configuration='Debug' Platform='AnyCPU'. You may be seeing this message because you are trying to build a project without a solution file, and have specified a non-default Configuration or Platform that doesn't exist for this project. I checked the build log and it seems that the error occurs during _CheckForInvalidConfigurationAndPlatform. It wasn't even able to continue to my Build task! Since the script is only intended to build the solution under Debug/Release and AnyCPU as platform, I tried to add the following lines to my msbuild project: <PropertyGroup Condition=" '$(Configuration)|$(Platform)' == 'Debug|AnyCPU' "> <OutputPath>.\bin\Debug\</OutputPath> </PropertyGroup> <PropertyGroup Condition=" '$(Configuration)|$(Platform)' == 'Release|AnyCPU' "> <OutputPath>.\bin\Release\</OutputPath> </PropertyGroup> I could still build the project without errors in the command line, but CCNET is returning the same error mentioned above.   I am trying to install Pylucene (pylucene-3.3-3-src.tar.gz) on my ubuntu linux 11.10. I have python 2.7.2. I was able to compile JCC (I think) because I didnt see any error when I installed it. When I tried to install Pylucene I get the following error. Can someone help? Thanks. • WCF listenBacklog and maxConnections can't be set higher than 10. Why not?

  My service works great under low load. But under high load I start to get connection errors. I know about other settings but I am trying to change the listenBacklog parameter in particular for my TCP Buffered binding. If I set listenBacklog="10" I am able to telnet into the port where my WCF service is running. If I change listenBacklog to anything higher than 10 it will not let me telnet into my service when it is running. No errors seem to be thrown. What can I do? I get the same problem when I change my maxConnections away from 10. All other properties of the binding I can set higher without a problem. • DRY Validation with MVC2

  Hi All, I'm trying to figure out how I can define validation rules for my domain objects in one single location within my application but have run in to a snag... Some background: My location has several parts: - Database - DAL - Business Logic Layer - SOAP API Layer - MVC website The MVC website accesses the database via the SOAP API, just as third parties would. We are using server and and client side validation on the MVC website as well as in the SOAP API Layer. To avoid having to manually write client side validation we are implementing strongly typed views in conjunction with the Html.TextBoxFor and Html.ValidationMessageFor HTML helpers, as shown in Step 3 here. We also create custom models for each form where one form takes input for multiple domain objects. This is where the problem begins, the HTML helpers read from the model for the data annotation validation attributes. In most cases our forms deal with multiple domain objects and you can't specify more than one type in the <%@Page ... Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage" % page directive. So we are forced to create a custom model class, which would mean duplicating validation attributes from the domain objects on to the model class. I've spent quite some time looking for workarounds to this, such has referencing the same MetadataType from both the domain class and the custom MVC models, but that won't work for several reasons: You can only specify one MetadataType attribute per class, so its a problem if a model references multiple domain objects, each with their own metadata type. The data annotation validation code throws an exception if the model class doesn't contain a property that is specified in the referenced MetadataType which is a problem with the model only deals with a subset of the properties for a given domain object. I've looked at other solutions as well but to no avail. If anyone has any ideas on how to achieve a single source for validation logic that would work across MVC client and server side validation functionality and other locations (such as my SOAP API) I would love to hear it! • Testing movie with Flash IDE fails to load file from localhost

  Hi, I'm just wondering if anybody can help me with my simple but frustrating problem. I have created an SWF that loads an XML file from http://localhost/flash/Projects/MEL/Quiz/Quiz/bin/xml/quiz.xml, but I get this error when running the movie using Test Movie in the Flash IDE. Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: http://localhost/flash/Projects/MEL/Quiz/Quiz/bin/xml/quiz.xml at Main/loadConfig()[D:\www\webroot\flash\Projects\MEL\Quiz\Quiz\src\Main.as:126] at Main/configLoadError()[D:\www\webroot\flash\Projects\MEL\Quiz\Quiz\src\Main.as:143] at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent() at flash.net::URLLoader/onComplete() The error I get if I handle the exception is: [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: http://localhost/flash/Projects/MEL/Quiz/Quiz/bin/xml/quiz.xml"] Trouble is running the SWF in a browser locally does work, it only throws these errors in the Flash IDE. I have tried a adding wildcard crossdomain.xml file in my root web directory and setting the SWF publish properties for local playback security to Allow network only, but neither of these have solved my problem. I know Windows 7 handles localhost name resolution differently compared to previous versions of Windows but I have even added 127.0.0.1 localhost to my hosts file to no avail. Can anyone shed any light on this issue?

• NHibernate SubclassMap gives DuplicateMappingException

  I'm using NHibernate to handle my database - with Fluent configuration. I'm not using Automappings. All mappings are written explicitly, and everything is working just fine. Now I wanted to add my first mapping to a subclass, using the SubclassMap, and I run into problems. With the simplest possible setup an Nhibernate DuplicateMappingException is thrown, saying that the subclass is mapped more than once: NHibernate.MappingException : Could not compile the mapping document: (XmlDocument) ---- NHibernate.DuplicateMappingException : Duplicate class/entity mapping MyNamespace.SubPerson I get this with my simple classes written for testing: public class Person { public int Id { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } } public class SubPerson : Person { public string Foo { get; set; } } With the following mappings: public class PersonMapping : ClassMap<Person> { public PersonMapping() { Not.LazyLoad(); Id(c => c.Id); Map(c => c.Name); } } public class SubPersonMapping : SubclassMap<SubPerson> { public SubPersonMapping() { Not.LazyLoad(); Map(m => m.Foo); } } Any idea why this is happening? If there were automappings involved I guess it might have been caused by the automappings adding a mapping too, but there should be no automapping. I create my database specifying a fluent mapping: private static ISession CreateSession() { var cfg = Fluently.Configure(). Database(SQLiteConfiguration.Standard.ShowSql().UsingFile("unit_test.db")). • dynamic GridView in CreateChildControls throws a "RegisterRequiresControlState can only be called be

  I am trying to add a GridView dynamically to a SharePoint Web Part. Right now, the first time I load the gridview, everything works fine. My gridview has an edit column enabled... so when I click that, it throws an exception when I try and add the gridview control on the postback. The exception: "RegisterRequiresControlState can only be called before and during PreRender" I've tried adding my controls in the CreateChildControls function, the OnInit, OnPageLoad, and OnPreRender... all exhibit the same problem. Does anyone know what might cause this kind of error? Edit: So to test this problem, I created a local GridView in the webpart, recreating all the properties in the one that failed. It actually worked this time through... the only difference that I could identify was that I had made the gridview a static variable in another class, where as here I initiated the gridview as a local variable. I even used the same initializing function for both the original and modified version, same difference. So why would creating a GridView locally affect the ability to add it to a web part?

• Applying Test Driven Development to a tightly coupled architecture

  Hi all, I've recently been studying TDD, attended a conference and have dabbled in few tests and already I'm 100% sold, I absolutely love it TDD. As a result I've raised this with my seniors and they are prepared to give it a chance, so they have tasked me with coming up with a way to implement TDD in the development of our enterprise product. The problem is our system has evolved since the days of VB6 to .NET and implements alot of legacy technology and some far from best practice development techniques i.e. alot of business logic in the ASP.NET code behind and client script. The largest problem however is how our classes are tightly coupled with database access; properties, methods, constructors - usually has some database access in some form or another. We use an in-house data access code generator tool that creates sqlDataAdapters that gives us all the database access we could ever want, which helps us develop extremely quickly, however, classes in our business layer are very tightly coupled to this data layer - we aren't even close to implementing some form of repository design. This and the issues above have created me all sorts of problems. I have tried to develop some unit tests for some existing classes I've already written but the tests take ALOT longer to run since db access is required, not to mention since we use the MS Enterprise Caching framework I am forced to fake a httpcontext for my tests to run successfully which isn't practical. Also, I can't see how to use TDD to drive the design of any new classes I write since they have to be soo tightly coupled to the database ... help! Because of the architecture of the system it appears I can't implement TDD without some real hack which in my eyes just defeats the aim of TDD and the huge benefits that come with. Does anyone have any suggestions how I could implement TDD with the constraints I'm bound too? or do I need to push the repository design pattern down my seniors throats and tell them we either change our architecture/development methodology or forget about TDD altogether? :) Thanks

• Cant insert row with auto-increment key via FluentNhibernate

  I'm getting started with Fluent NHibernate, and NHibernate in general. I'm trying to do something that I feel is pretty basic, but I cant quite get it to work. I'm trying to add a new entry to a simple table. Here's the Entity class. public class Product { public Product() { id = 0; } public virtual int id {get; set;} public virtual string description { get; set; } } Here's its mapping. public class ProductMap : ClassMap<Product> { public ProductMap() { Id(p => p.id).GeneratedBy.Identity().UnsavedValue(0); Map(p => p.description); } } I've tried that with and without the additional calls after Id(). And the insert code: var p = new Product() { description = "Apples" }; using (var s = _sf.CreateSession()) { s.Save(new_product); s.Flush(); } where _sf is a properly configured SessionSource. When I execute this code, I get: NHibernate.AssertionFailure : null identifier, which makes sense based on the SQL that NHibernate is executing: INSERT INTO "Product" (description) VALUES (@p0);@p0 = 'Apples' It doesnt seem to be trying to set the Id field, which seems ok (on its face) since the DB should generate that. But its not, I think. The DB schema is autogenerated by FNH: var config = Fluently.Configure().Database(MsSqlCeConfiguration.Standard.ShowSql().ConnectionString(@"Data Source=Database1.sdf")); var SessionSource = new SessionSource(config.BuildConfiguration().Properties, new ModelMappings()); var Session = SessionSource.CreateSession(); SessionSource.BuildSchema(Session); CreateInitialData(Session); Session.Flush(); Session.Clear(); I'm sure to be doing tons of things wrong, but whats the one thats causing this error?

• How to create a MVC 2 DisplayTemplate for a field whose display format is dependent on another field

  If I have a property whose display format is dependent on the value of another property in the view model how do I create a display template for it? The combination of field1's display being dependent on field2's value will be used throughout the app and I would like to encapsulate this in a MVC 2 display template. To be more specific, I've already create a display template (Social.ascx) for custom data type Social that masks a social security number for display. For instance, XXX-XX-1234. [DataType("Social")] public string SocialSecurityNumber { get; set; } All employees also have an employeeID. Certain companies use the employee's social security number as either the whole employee id or as part of it. I need to also mask the employeeID if it contains the social. I'd like to create another display template (EmpID.ascx) to perform this task. [DataType("EmpID")] public string EmployeeID { get; set; } The problem is that I don't know how to get both properties in the "EmpID" template to be able to perform the comparison. • Unknown Build Error using WPF Toolkit

  I installed the Feb 2010 WPF Toolkit as I'm interested in evaluating the AutoCompleteBox control and I'm having extremely limited success. I can get the control to work, but as soon as I try and set any of it's properties in XAML, I get the following: Unknown build error, 'Cannot resolve dependency to assembly 'WPFToolkit, Version=3.5.40128.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' because it has not been preloaded. When using the ReflectionOnly APIs, dependent assemblies must be pre-loaded or loaded on demand through the ReflectionOnlyAssemblyResolve event. I've been testing this on a blank WPF window in a new solution. I'm guessing I'm just missing a reference or something... Here's the XAML (I've added nothing to the .xaml.cs): <Window x:Class="WpfToolkitApplication.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:toolkit="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Input.Toolkit" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <Grid> <toolkit:AutoCompleteBox Height="25"/> </Grid> </Window> The only reference I've added is System.Windows.Controls.Input.Toolkit. • Strong Naming an assembly using command line compile

  I am trying to use NAnt in order to compile and sign an assembly using the vbc compiler. I have a project set up and am able to successfully sign the assembly compiling with VS2010. When I try to sign it using the command line I get this error: vbc : error BC30140: Error creating assembly manifest: Error signing assembly -- The parameter is incorrect. I even created a trivially simple app (just an assemblyinfo.vb file) that will not compile and sign using vbc.exe What am I doing wrong? here is my assemblyinfo.vb: Option Strict Off Option Explicit On Imports System Imports System.Reflection <Assembly: AssemblyVersionAttribute("2010.05.18.0918"), _ Assembly: AssemblyCopyrightAttribute("Copyright © Patient First 2007"), _ Assembly: AssemblyCompanyAttribute("Patient First, Inc."), _ Assembly: AssemblyProductAttribute("Patient First Framework"), _ Assembly: AssemblyDelaySign(false), _ Assembly: AssemblyKeyFile("test.pfx"), _ Assembly: AssemblyTitleAttribute("PatientFirst.Framework")> test.pfx is located in the same folder as assemblyinfo.vb Here is how I am trying to compile it: vbc /target:library /verbose assemblyinfo.vb I also tried using vbc /target:library /verbose assemblyinfo.vb /keyfile:test.pfx and tried using /keyfile parameter without the AssemblyDelaySign and AssemblyKeyFile attributes If I remove the AssemblyDelaySign and AssemblyKeyFile attributes and leave off the /keyfile command line parameter it compiles fine. What is the correct way to do this with vbc? --EDIT: I have found that MSBuild also does not like having the AssemblyKeyFile attribute as I have defined it in the AssemblyInfo.vb, it gives the same failure message. So the only way I can currently get this to build correctly is to set properties on the project to tell it which key file to use and to sign the assembly.

• MVVM Light Toolkit - RelayCommands, DelegateCommands, and ObservableObjects

  I just started experimenting with Laurent Bugnion's MVVM Light Toolkit. I think I'm going to really like it, but I have a couple questions. Before I get to them, I need to explain where I'm coming from. I currently use a combination of Josh Smith's MVVM Foundation and another project on Codeplex called MVVM Toolkit. I use ObservableObject and Messenger from MVVM Foundation and DelegateCommand and CommandReference from MVVM Toolkit. The only real overlap between MVVM Foundation and MVVM Tookit is that they both have an implementation for ICommand: MVVM Foundation has a RelayCommand and MVVM Tookit has a DelegateCommand. Of these two, DelegateCommand appears to be more sophisticated. It employs a CommandManagerHelper that uses weak references to avoid memory leaks. With that said, a couple questions: Why does MVVM Light Toolkit use RelayCommand rather than DelegateCommand? Is the use of weak references in an ICommand unnecessary or not recommended for some reason? Why is there no ObservableObject in MVVM Light? ObservableObject is basically just the part of ViewModelBase that implements INotifyPropertyChanged, but it's very convenient to have as a separate class because view-models are not the only objects that need to implement INotifyPropertyChanged. For example, let's say you have DataGrid that binds to a list of Person objects. If any of the properties in Person can change while the user is viewing the DataGrid, Person would need to implement INotifyPropertyChanged. (I realize that if Person is auto-generated using something like LinqToSql, it will probably already implement INotifyPropertyChanged, but there are cases where I need to make a view-specific version of entity model objects, say, because I need to include a command to support a button column in a DataGrid.)   I have a ASP.NET 1.1 application running on IIS 6 / Windows Server 2003. It's our application, but we're trying to specifically replicate a customer's installation so the app folder has been copied entirely from their production server onto our test machine, and then we've created the Virtual Directory and Web Application for IIS manually. The problem I have is that when we access the app, we get the standard IIS security error message: The page cannot be displayed You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please try the following: •Contact the Web site administrator if you believe this directory should allow execute access. HTTP Error 403.1 - Forbidden: Execute access is denied. Internet Information Services (IIS) Now this is pretty standard, except as far as I can see it's not anything so simple. I have checked: IIS user has read access to the directory IIS user and Network Service users have read/write access to the Temporary ASP.NET Files folder Virtual directory is set to the correct version of ASP.NET ASP.NET 1.1 Web Service Extension is allowed Virtual directory has the correct mappings of file extensions and all verbs to the aspnet 1.1 DLL Virtual directory properties allow Scripts and Executables to be run Anonymous access is turned on and the username and password is correct What am I missing?

Yes, I can read the file by creating an instance of Excel, but I rather not.. Any idea how I can read the xls using OleDb without making manual changes to the xls or by playing with ranges in a instanciated Excel? Regards, Michel

  Hello, probably I don't understand the layout properties of TableLayout yet. It doesn't seem to be possible to achieve such a flexible table like in HTML, because there are no cells. My target is it to achieve such a layout: Link to draft How can I do that? I thought about using a GridView but this doesn't seem to be useful in XML. • Writing a Javascript library that is code-completion and code-inspection friendly

  I recently made my own Javascript library and I initially used the following pattern: var myLibrary = (function () { var someProp = "..."; function someFunc() { ... } function someFunc2() { ... } return { func: someFunc, fun2: someFunc2, prop: someProp; } }()); The problem with this is that I can't really use code completion because the IDE doesn't know about the properties that the function literal is returning (I'm using IntelliJ IDEA 9 by the way). I've looked at jQuery code and tried to do this: (function(window, undefined) { var myLibrary = (function () { var someProp = "..."; function someFunc() { ... } function someFunc2() { ... } return { func: someFunc, fun2: someFunc2, prop: someProp; } }()); window.myLibrary = myLibrary; }(window)); I tried this, but now I have a different problem. Another question I have is how to handle functions with arbitrary numbers of parameters. For example, jQuery.bind can take 2 or 3 parameters, and the IDE doesn't seem to complain. I tried to do the same thing with my library, where a function could take 0 arguments or 1 argument. However, the IDE complains and warns that the correct number of parameters aren't being sent in. How do I handle this?

• jQuery Ajax call - Set variable value on success.

  Hey all, I have an application that I am writing that modifies data on a cached object in the server. The modifications are performed through an ajax call that basically updates properties of that object. When the user is done working, I have a basic 'Save Changes' button that allows them to Save the data and flush the cached object. In order to protect the user, I want to warn them if the try to navigate away from the page when modifications have been made to the server object if they have not saved. So, I created a web service method called IsInitialized that will return true or false based on whether or not changes have been saved. If they have not been saved, I want to prompt the user and give them a chance to cancel their navigation request. Here's my problem - although I have the calls working correctly, I can't seem to get the ajax success call to set the variable value on its callback function. As was just pointed out, I am making an asynchronous call, which means the rest of the code gets called before my method returns. Is there a way to use that ajax call, but still catch the window.onunload event? (without making synchronos ajax)

• Microsoft Expression Blend 3 - Show / Hide a popup

  Hi, I'm using this for the very first time to do some quick prototyping (using sketchflow). I have a simple dialog window that I want to show when a button it pressed and then hide when a button (in the dialog, like an "OK" button) is pressed. If someone could just point me in the direction of a simple tutorial on how to do this I'd be happy, or even if you have a simple example you can post here that would be great (I've been trying to google this forever!). I can tell you what I have tried (although obviously it doesn't work) Created a user control, called it "MyDialog". That user control is a simple box which is the bit of gui I want to overlay when the user clicks a button. In that user control I gave it two states "Show" and "Hide". The "Hide" state has all visability to the elements in this user control set to none and "Show" shows everything Created a button in my main screen. That button I gave a it a behaviour "ActivateStateAction". In the properties of that behaviour I set the TargetScreen to be "MyDialog" and the TargetState to be "Show". (I also set the target screen to be MyprojectName.MyProjectNameScreens.MyDialog, that doesn't work either)

• Serializing java objects with respect to xml schema loaded at runtime

  I call an XML document three-layered if its structure is laid out as following: the root element contains some container elements (I'll call them entities), each of them has some simpleType elements inside (I'll call them properties). Something like that: <data> <spaceship> <number>1024</number> <name>KTHX</name> </spaceship> <spaceship> <number>1624</number> <name>LEXX</name> </spaceship> <knife> <length>10</length> </knife> </data> where spaceship is an entity, and number is a property. My problem is stated below: Given schema: an arbitrary xsd file describing a three-layered document, loaded at runtime. xmlDocument: an xml document conforming to the schema. Create A Map<String, Map <String, Object>> containing data from the xmlDocument, where first key corresponds to entity, second key correponds to this entity's property, and the value corresponds to this property's value, after casting it to a proper java type (for example, if the schema sets the property value to be xs:int, then it should be cast to Integer). What is the easiest way to achieve this result with existing libraries? P. S. JAXB is not really an option here. The schema might be arbitrary and unknown at compile-time. Also I wish to avoid an excessive use of reflection (associated with converting the beans to maps). I'm looking for something that would allow me to make the typecasts while xml is being parsed.

  Hello All, I have a Silverlight-3 solution that contains a few different projects. I want to have one "common" project for holding controls and resources that will be used by multiple other projects. Within the common project, there is a folder called Resources, which holds a ResourceDictionary (CommonColors.xaml). This is set to be built as a Resource, Do Not Copy. I add a reference to the common project in another project (call it UncommonControls), and attempt to add the ResourceDictionary as a MergedDictionary: <UserControl.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="/Common;component/Resources/CommonColors.xaml" /> <ResourceDictionary Source="/UncommonControls;component/Resources/UncommonStyles.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </UserControl.Resources> When I try to run, I get an exception: Attribute /Common;component/Resources/CommonColors.xaml value is out of range. [Line: 14 Position: 44] --- Inner Exception --- The given key was not present in the dictionary. However, if I reference a ResourceDictionary local to Uncommon (such as the UncommonStyles.xaml, above) project, which is set up with the same Build properties, it works fine. I haven't seen anything that says SL3 can't reference an external ResourceDictionary (on the contrary, I've seen an example of using one, albeit with no downloadable project to verify the behavior). • Combobox with collection view itemssource does not update selection box item on changes to the Model

  Hello, Sorry for the earlier lengthy post. Here is my concise (!) description. I bind a collection view to a combobox as a itemsSource and also bind its selectedvalue with a property from my view model. I must keep IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem="False". I change the source list ofr the view and then refresh the view. The changed (added, removed, edited) items appear correctly in the item list of the combo. But problem is with the selected item. When I change its property which is also the displaymember path of the combo, the changed property value does not reflect back on the selecton box of the combo. If you open the combo dropdown it appears correctly on the item list but not on the selection box. Now if I change the combobox tag to Listbox in my XAML (keeping all attributes as it is) then when selected item's displaymember property value is updated, the changes reflect back on the selected item of the list box . Why this issue? Just FYI: My View Model has properties EmployeeCollectionView and SelectedEmployeeId which are bound to combo as ItemsSource and SelectedValue resp. This VM implements the INotifyPropertyChanged interface. My core employee class (list of which is the source for the EmployeeCollectionView) is simply a Model class without INotifyPropertyChanged. DisplayMemberPath is "Name" property of employee Model class. I change this by some means and expect the combo selection box to update the value. I tried refreshing ther SelectedEmployeeId by setting it 0 (where it correctly selects the dummy "-- Select All --" employee entry from itemsSource) and old selected value back. But no use. The old value takes me back to the old label. Items collection has latest entry though. When I make combobox's IsEditable=True before the view's refresh and after refresh I make IsEditable=False then the things work out correctly! But this is a patch and is unnecessary.
