  • Ajaxtoolkit TextboxWatermarkExtender: How to change the text from Javascript

    - by George
I think thaAjaxControlToolkitTextBoxWrapperThis use to work, but I think that upgrading to te latest version of teh Toolkit (4 something) broke it: var txtExpireYear = document.getElementById("ctl00_phPageContent_dtmPassportExpirationDate_txtYear"); txtExpireYear.AjaxControlToolkitTextBoxWrapper.set_Value(dtmDateOfExpire.getFullYear()); I now get the error: Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'AjaxControlToolkitTextBoxWrapper' is null or not an object Executing this: txtExpireYear.innerText="value1" txtExpireYear.value="value2" results in the watermark text being changed, not the textbox's text.

  • How to use the callback method with a c++ directshow sample grabber

    - by Mr Bell
I have a sample grabber hooked into my directshow graph, based on this example http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd407288(VS.85).aspx the problem is that it uses one shot and buffers. I want to continuously grab samples, and i'd rather have a callback than i guess polling for the samples. How do use the SetCallback method? SetCallback(ISampleGrabberCB *pCallback, long WhichMethodToCallback) how do I point pCallback to my own method?

  • How to make ASP.NET MVC2 project templates to show up in VWD2008 Express?

    - by Seh Hui 'Felix' Leong
OK I'm completely stumped here: I have installed (and reinstalled) ASP.NET MVC2 installed several times and I still can't see the ASP.NET MVC2 project templates shown in Visual Web Developer 2008 Express. I had checked the default project directory templates and had verified that those templates are installed, for example these templates files are found C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\VWDExpress\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Web\1033: EmptyMvcWebApplicationProjectTemplatev2.0.cs.zip MvcWebApplicationProjectTemplatev2.0.cs.zip Any idea of tracking what's the problem and fix it?

  • Which book for windows Shell programming?

    - by serefarikan
I've been looking for a good book for windows shell programming, and the only one I could find is Visual C++ Windows Shell Programming by Dino Eposito: http://www.wintellect.com/BookInformation.aspx?ASIN=1861001843 It is an old book, and I'd like to know if you know of any good resources which could help. I need to develop a couple of windows explorer extensions, and apparently managed code is not recommended by Microsoft at least for some of these tasks. So I'm searching for a good resource for native development. Kind regards Seref

    - by Martin 'Pozi' Pozor
Is it possible to connect Visual Studio 2010 Professional edition to TFS (project hosted on Codeplex)? This states, it is not included in Professional edition: http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products However, for VS 2008, there was separate download of Team Explorer and it was posible also for Professional version. Is this changed for VS 2010?

  • Plane projection and scale causing bluring in silverlight

    - by Andy
Ok, So I've tried to make an application which relies on images being scaled by an individual factor. These images are then able to be turned over, but the use of an animation working on the ProjectionPlane rotation. The problem comes around when an image is both scaled and rotated. For some reason it starts bluring, where a non scaled image doesn't blur. Also, if you look at the example image below (top is scaled and rotated, bottom is rotated) the projection of the top one doesn't even seem right. Its too horizontal. This this the code for the test app: <UserControl x:Class="SilverlightApplication1.Page" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Width="400" Height="300"> <Canvas x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="White"> <Border Canvas.Top="25" Canvas.Left="50"> <Border.RenderTransform> <TransformGroup> <ScaleTransform ScaleX="3" ScaleY="3" /> </TransformGroup> </Border.RenderTransform> <Border.Projection> <PlaneProjection RotationY="45"/> </Border.Projection> <Image Source="bw-test-pattern.jpg" Width="50" Height="40"/> </Border> <Border Canvas.Top="150" Canvas.Left="50"> <Border.RenderTransform> <TransformGroup> <ScaleTransform ScaleX="1" ScaleY="1" /> </TransformGroup> </Border.RenderTransform> <Border.Projection> <PlaneProjection RotationY="45"/> </Border.Projection> <Image Source="bw-test-pattern.jpg" Width="150" Height="120"/> </Border> </Canvas> </UserControl> So if anyone could possible shed any light on why this may be happening, I'd very much appreciate it. Suggestions also welcome! :)

  • Connecting to a WSE 3.0 Web Service From a WCF Client

    - by Dave
I'm having difficulty connecting to a 3rd party WSE 3.0 web service from a WCF client. I have implemented the custom binding class as indicated in this KB article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms734745.aspx The problem seems to have to do with the security assertion used by the web service - UsernameOverTransport. When I attempt to call a method, I get the following exception: System.InvalidOperationException: The 'WseHttpBinding'.'[namespace]' binding for the 'MyWebServiceSoap'.'[namespace]' contract is configured with an authentication mode that requires transport level integrity and confidentiality. However the transport cannot provide integrity and confidentiality.. It is expecting a username, password, and CN number. In the example code supplied to us by the vendor, these credentials are bundled in a Microsoft.Web.Services3.Security.Tokens.UsernameToken. Here's the example supplied by the vendor: MyWebServiceWse proxy = new MyWebServiceWse(); UsernameToken token = new UsernameToken("Username", "password", PasswordOption.SendPlainText); token.Id = "<supplied CN Number>"; proxy.SetClientCredential(token); proxy.SetPolicy(new Policy(new UsernameOverTransportAssertion(), new RequireActionHeaderAssertion())); MyObject mo = proxy.MyMethod(); This works fine from a 2.0 app w/ WSE 3.0 installed. Here is a snippet of the code from my WCF client: EndpointAddress address = new EndpointAddress(new Uri("<web service uri here>")); WseHttpBinding binding = new WseHttpBinding(); // This is the custom binding I created per the MS KB article binding.SecurityAssertion = WseSecurityAssertion.UsernameOverTransport; binding.EstablishSecurityContext = false; // Not sure about the value of either of these next two binding.RequireDerivedKeys = true; binding.MessageProtectionOrder = MessageProtectionOrder.SignBeforeEncrypt; MembershipServiceSoapClient proxy = new MembershipServiceSoapClient(binding, address); // This is where I believe the problem lies – I can’t seem to properly setup the security credentials the web service is expecting proxy.ClientCredentials.UserName.UserName = "username"; proxy.ClientCredentials.UserName.Password = "pwd"; // How do I supply the CN number? MyObject mo = proxy.MyMethod(); // this throws the exception I've scoured the web looking for an answer to this question. Some sources get me close (like the MS KB article), but I can't seem to get over the hump. Can someone help me out?

  • API to toggle "Show hidden files, folders and drives"

    - by dbkk
Is there a function in Windows API to toggle the "Show hidden files, folders and drives" option in Windows Explorer (Tools Folder Options... View tab). I know of a related registry key, but changing that would not have immediate effect. The key is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/Advanced/Folder/Hidden/SHOWALL Trying to do this from C#, but the question is not language-specific.

  • Visual Studio 2010 HTML Designer Renders Unlike IE8?

    - by Luke Puplett
My question is: since Visual Studio 2010 was only just released, why does it not render pages in the same way as the latest Microsoft web browser, IE8? Is there a bunch of render options I should be setting? I thought Expression Web was supposed to help with its fancy Super Preview but that app doesn't even open VS solutions. Thanks for any assistance, Luke

  • Run word on server for COM to work??

    - by chupinette
I got this from php.net website. This is related to the problem I am having with tho code below. Can anyone explain me what the following does. I am using Vista. What does running Word on server implies? In order to get the Word example running, do the following on the server side. Worked for me... 1. Click START--RUN and enter "dcomcnfg" 2. In the "Applications" tab, go down to "Microsoft Word Document" 3. Click PROPERTIES button 4. Go to the "Security" Tab 5. Click "Use custom access permissions", and then click EDIT 6. Click ADD and then click SHOW USERS 7. Highlight the IIS anonymous user account (usually IUSR_), click ADD 8. Go back to the "Security" tab by hitting OK 9. Click "Use custom launch permissions", and the click EDIT 10. Click ADD and then click SHOW USERS 11. Highlight the IIS anonymous user account (usually IUSR_), click ADD 12. Hit OK, and then hit APPLY. Also, you should look at the "Identity" tab in the Microsoft Word Document PROPERTIES and see that it is set to "Interactive User" ALSO, log into the machine AS the IUSR_ account, start word, and make sure to click through the dialog boxes that Word shows the first time it is run for a certain user. In other words, make sure Word opens cleanly for the IUSR_ user. <?php // starting word $word = new COM("word.application") or die("Unable to instantiate Word"); echo "Loaded Word, version {$word->Version}\n"; //bring it to front $word->Visible = 1; //open an empty document $word->Documents->Add(); //do some weird stuff $word->Selection->TypeText("This is a test..."); $word->Documents[1]->SaveAs("Useless test.doc"); //closing word $word->Quit(); //free the object $word = null; ?>

  • Visual Studio 2008 Report Designer - can't turn on gridlines

    - by bob
Microsoft in their infinite wisdom have seen fit to remove the useful "Draw Grid" and "Snap to Grid" checkboxes in the report properties dialog that were in VS 2005 but are not in VS 2008. I'm assuming they put that functionality elsewhere but I can't find it after going through what seems like every menu option available. Does anybody know how to turn on the gridlines?

  • Azure Membership UI

    - by Andres
Using AspProviders (TableStorageMembershipProvider etc) from Microsoft WCF Azure Samples. It is WCF Service Web Role, and in Azure Storage Explorer I can see Membership, Roles and Session tables appearing nicely when I try to connect. But is there any exisiting code to manage Membership and Roles? Some ASPX pages I guess, something like this for plain old ASP.NET, but more modern and Azure-tested hopefully? Thanks, Andres

  • Silverlight P2P App (In Browser) - Will we get RTMFP?

    - by Paul
Ok so from all my research I'm fairly positive P2P is not possible in Silverlight 4 (in browser). Flash can do P2P using Stratus/RTMFP which I believe uses UDP hole punching and a Stratus server to help initialize the connection. Is there any plans for Microsoft to add some kind of p2p rendezvous service in the future? Can we get a definitive yes/no on whether or not p2p is possible in SL4.

  • AutoScaleMode problems with changed default font

    - by Doc Brown
Hi, I have some problems with the Form.AutoScaleMode property together with fixed size controls, when using a non-default font. I boiled it down to a simple test application (WinForms 2.0) with only one form, some fixed size controls and the following properties: class Form1 : Form { // ... private void InitializeComponent() { // ... this.AutoScaleDimensions = new System.Drawing.SizeF(96F, 96F); this.AutoScaleMode = System.Windows.Forms.AutoScaleMode.Dpi; this.Font = new System.Drawing.Font("Tahoma", 9.25F); // ... } } Under 96dpi, Windows XP, the form looks correctly like this 96 dpi example. Under 120 dpi, Windows XP, the the Windows Forms autoscaling feature produces this 120 dpi example. As you can see, groupboxes, buttons, list or tree views are scaled correctly, multiline text boxes get too big in the vertical axis, and a fixed size label does not scale correctly in both vertical and horizontal direction. Seems to be bug in the .NET framework? Using the default font (Microsoft Sans Serif 8.25pt), this problem does not occur. Using AutoScaleMode=Font (with adequate AutoScaleDimensions, of course) either does not scale at all or scales exactly like seen above, depending on when the Font is set (before or after the change of AutoScaleMode). The problem is not specific to the "Tahoma" Font, it occurs also with Microsoft Sans Serif, 9.25pt. And yes, i already read this SO post http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2114857/high-dpi-problems but it does not really help me. Any suggestions how to come around this? EDIT: I changed my image hoster, hope this one works better. EDIT2: Some additional information about my intention: I have about 50 already working fixed size dialogs with several hundreds of properly placed, fixed size controls. They were migrated from an older C++ GUI framework to C#/Winforms, that's why they are all fixed-size. All of them look fine with 96 dpi using a 9.25pt font. Under the old framework, scaling to 120 dpi worked fine - all fixed size controls scaled equal in both dimensions. Last week, we detected this strange scaling behaviour under WinForms when switching to 120 dpi. You can imagine that most of our dialogs now look very bad under 120 dpi. We are looking for a solution that avoids a complete redesign all those dialogs.

  • Visual Basic 6 causes Visual Studio 2010 to attempt an installation

    - by parsley72
I'm using Visual Basic 6 for a legacy project and it's been working fine. I recently installed the Visual Studio 2010 RC and now when I start VB6 I get an installer with the title "Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Professional RC - ENU". If I click Cancel I can then open my project in VB6. Is there any way of getting rid of this, or am I just the only person on the planet still using VB6?

  • I18N: Does Time always come after Date?

    - by Ian Boyd
Does the time always come after the date, with a space in between, in every culture on earth? i see that Microsoft FCL assumes that it does: public string get_FullDateTimePattern() { if (this.fullDateTimePattern == null) { this.fullDateTimePattern = this.LongDatePattern + " " + this.LongTimePattern; } return this.fullDateTimePattern; } Is this an assumption i can make in every development language for every culture?
