• Paperclip - Validate File Type but not Presence

  I am using paperclip to handle my file uploads, and in one situation I don't want the file to be mandatory. I do however want to make sure it is a specific file type when it is present. I have this: class TestModel < ActiveRecord::Base #stuff has_attached_file :sound #etc... validates_attachment_content_type :sound, :content_type => ['audio/mp3', 'application/x-mp3'] end And when I have no sound file present, it tells me it is not one of the valid content types. I've tried adding '' to the :content_type array, which also doesn't work! I also attempted creating a lambda procedure for the :if property, but I can't get it to run without some kind of error. Anything missing here?

• .NET Web Service Proxy is adding special characters in XML

  My web service proxy seems to be adding special characters like "*" and "#" etc. within the xml nodes. My proxy created lists using arrays of objects. I am trying to create a generic list and then doing list.ToArray() to set the proxy MyProxyObject[] object. Is this the cause of the problem I am having? I plan on running fiddler on the request later but it is over SSL and I do not have access to the URL at the moment.   I am using the following code in Wordpress to query events (custom post type) and order them by date chronologically.. query_posts( array( 'post_type' => 'events', 'showposts' => 10, 'orderby' => 'meta_value_num','meta_key' => '_ecmb_datetime' ) ); Where the meta key _ecmb_datetime is, this is the timestamp of the event. I don't want to show events that have already happened, so my question is how do I only show events happening after my current time, and how do I sort reverse chronologically? • What sort of object is this and how to use it?

  What would be the correct name for this type of array? There are 3 main sections and 4 sub-parts consisting of "issuedTime" "text" "url" and "validToTime", how do you start to convert this to an object? If there was only 1 main section, it would be fairly simple to do however with 3 main parts and no identification for each main section has me scratching my head as where to start. • Mac OSX: Passing a link to file from user process to kernel module.

  Hello, I need to pass a link to file from a user process to the OSX kernel driver. By link i mean anything that uniquely identifies a file on the local filesystem. I need that link to do I/O on that file in kernel. The most obvious solution seems to pass a file name and use a VFS vnode lookup. However i noticed, that Apple Disk Images helper process passes a raw data array for image-path property to driver when attaching a disk image file: <2f 56 6f 6c 75 6d 65 73 2f 73 74 6f 72 61 67 65 2f 74 65 73 74 32 2e 64 6d 67> What is that diskimages-helper passes to the kernel driver? Some serialized type perhaps? If yes, what type is it and how can i use it?

• Breaking the SQL Compact 8K Limit?

  I am creating a desktop application that stores rich text documents to a SQL Compact database. Documents are converted to a byte array and stored as a Binary column, and I am running into SQL Compact's 8K limit for Binary field length. Is there a simple way to get around the 8K limit? I can come up with lots of complicated ways to do it, such as parsing into 8K chunks for storage and reassembling on fetch. But before I get into something that complex, I would like to make sure I can't solve the problem more simply, such as by changing data type. If there is no simple way of getting around the 8K limit, is thare a best practice for storing documents greater than 8K? Thanks for your help.

All records are placed as 1 row inside the csv file, how can i fix that ?   Let's say I have an array of zeros: a = numpy.zeros(1000) I then introduce some repetitive 'events': a[range(0, 1000, 30)] = 1 Question is, how do I detect the 'signal' there? Because it's far from the ideal signal if I do the 'regular' FFT I don't get a clear indication of where my 'true' signal is: f = abs(numpy.fft.rfft(a)) Is there a method to detect these repetitions with some degree of certainty? Especially if I have few of those mixed in, for example here: a[range(0, 1000, 30)] = 1 a[range(0, 1000, 110)] = 1 a[range(0, 1000, 48)] = 1 I'd like to get three 'spikes' on the resulting data...

• Add objects to NSDictionaryController

  I have an NSTableView which is bound to an NSDictionaryController. I have set this and the content dictionary through the interface builder. The question I have is, how do I add objects to the dictionary in a manner that the controller will see it automatically and display it in the table. I've seen in examples about NSArrayController that you add the new objects through the controller rather than the actual array so the controller sees the change. However, I don't see a similar way of doing this with the dictionarycontroller... Thanks for the help.

• CakePHP: Ajax view problem (nothing in the view showing)

  I created a function in my controller called addToPlaylist($songName). I wanted to add these song names to an array and then a session variable using an Ajax call. The first time i did this i got an error saying i do not have a template file to display in the chosen div ("add_to_playlist.ctp was missing"). I created this file and everything seemed to be working correctly. Basically I went to bed woke up and it is broken (it is possible I changed something before I went to bed). The problem now is that it does not show anything when i click the ajax link. when i click on the ajax link it seems to call the function but nothing displays in the view (except debug info) even when i delete the view (add_to_playlist.ctp) i get no errors, I just see debug info now.

Options[" + i + "].Selected turns into Options_0__Selected How can I avoid hardcoding Id generation in-built asp.net mvc rules? Thank you advance.

Looks like the expression within the 'for' is an array, but I don't understand this syntax: @{ ... }?

• iPhone SDK - keep data in modal view

  Hi all, I've got a modal view loaded the following way: ModalViewController *modalController = [[ModalViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ModalViewController" bundle:nil]; searchController.delegate = self; [self.navigationController presentModalViewController:modalController animated:YES]; [modalController release]; When the modal view appears, "viewDidLoad" is called. When I dismiss the modal view via [self.navigationController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; the method "viewDidUnload" ISN'T called, but the next time I let the modal view appear, "viewDidLoad" is called again. My problem now is that I'm creating an NSArray in the modal view's "viewDidLoad" - and as I'm fetching the data from the web, I would like to do it only once. But this way, it's fetched every time... Any hints how I could achieve that the data is only fetched once? I would really like to do it in the modal view and not in the parent and provide the array as parameter to the modal view... Thanks!

• Laravel: validation for unique username issue

  I have a noodle scratcher that I can't seem to figure out. I am validating for unique usernames and emails addresses. I have the following rules: protected $rules = array( 'username' => 'required|min:4|unique:users,username', 'email' => 'email|unique:users,email', 'password' => 'min:6', ); If I update a form that has the username (which is the same as it currently is), I get a The username has already been taken. error. If I do the same with the email, I get no error at all. I know about adding the last param to the unique validation: 'unique:users,username,{{$id}}' or 'unique:users,username,'.$id This doesn't work on the username. I get the same issue. I can't figure out why this works for the email, but not the username. Anyone had a similar issue or know where I am going wrong? Many thanks,
