• Trouble getting Flash socket policy file to work.

  Basically I'm using Flash to connect to a Java server. Despite my Java application replying to the , in the Flash debug log it lists (not sure about the order as there are lots): * Security Sandbox Violation * Connection to 192.168.1.86:4049 halted - not permitted from http://127.0.0.1:8888/Current/wander.swf Warning: Timeout on xmlsocket://192.168.1.86:4049 (at 3 seconds) while waiting for socket policy file. This should not cause any problems, but see http://www.adobe.com/go/strict_policy_files for an explanation. Error: Request for resource at xmlsocket://192.168.1.86:4049 by requestor from http://127.0.0.1:8888/Current/wander.swf is denied due to lack of policy file permissions. What I don't understand is, the server (port 4049) receives the request, outputs the policy file and then closes the connection, surely it shouldn't time out? The policy file I'm using is: <?xml version="1.0"?> <cross-domain-policy><allow-access-from domain="*" to-ports="*" /> </cross-domain-policy>

• Can't connect to Sunspot server in Ubuntu server

  I followed the steps in https://github.com/outoftime/sunspot/wiki/Adding-Sunspot-search-to-Rails-in-5-minutes-or-less to install & set up Sunspot search in Rails in a Mac OS and it is ok. In a Ubuntu server, there's connection refused error. When I run rake sunspot:solr:start and the proccess starts. The file sunspot-solr-development.pid is created in /tmp/pids But when I try to reindex rake sunspot:reindex ... rake aborted! Connection refused - connect(2) I tried to run the commands with sudo and gave permission 777 to the project files, but there's still error. Rails 3.0.8 Don't know where else to search for a solution...

  Hi, I have a asp.net application connecting to a .net web service, whenever i login & reach the main page, web services returns me back the data. But if i login for may be more than 1 or 2hrs, when i click any of the links i get: "System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond" What is the fix for this? Thanks.

• PHP File Serving Script: Unreliable Downloads?

  This post started as a question on ServerFault ( http://serverfault.com/questions/131156/user-receiving-partial-downloads ) but I determined that our php script was the culprit. So I'm issuing an updated question here about what I believe is the actual issue. I am using a php script to verify permissions and then serve up a file for users of my website to download. Most of the time, this works, but recently one user has been seeing problems with larger downloads. He is only getting ~80% of downloads for files that are 100MB in size. Also, all downloads from this script fail to report a filesize. Further, tests revealed that the same user COULD reliably download each of the failed files if given a direct link (at which point the filesize is reported). Here's the relevant snippet of code that we are using to serve the file: header("Content-type:$contenttype"); $len = filesize($filename); header("Content-Length: $len"); header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=".$title.".".$ext); readfile($filename); Note that $contenttype, $filename, $title, and $ext are all set correctly before we get here. These have been triple-checked. None of them are the problem. Also, $len does provide the correct filesize. While researching this issue, I came across this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1334471/content-length-header-always-zero It seems that I am encountering the same issue. When I use the script, I get chunked encoding on the file and no size is set for content-length. I'm hypothesizing that something is going wrong on the large downloads, leading him to get a zero-length chunk before the end of the file. • SQL Server 2008 - cannot register default instance MSSQLSERVER

  Hello, I have installed SQL Server 2008 Developer on Windows 7 64 bit. In Management Studio I cannot register the default instance MSSQLSERVER, it cannot find it although the service is running. I get the message: Cannot connect to PHOENIX\MSSQLSERVER. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 25 - Connection string is not valid) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 87) However Management Studio does show the SQL Server 2005 Express instance (that was installed with VS 2008 Pro) which appeared as already registered. I an using Windows Authentication as I installed it in mixed mode. Any ideas would be appreciated, many thanks paul

• Keeping iPhone application in sync with GWT application.

  Hi, I'm working on an iPhone application that should work in offline and online modes. In it's online mode it's supposed to feed all the information the user enters to a webservice backed by GWT/GAE. In it's offline mode it's supposed to store the information locally, and when connection is available sync it up to the web service. Currently my plan is as follows: Provide a connection between an app and a webservice using Protobuffers for efficient over-the-wire communication Work with local DB using Core Data Poll the network status, and when available sync the database and keep some sort of local-db-to-remote-db key synchronization. The question is - am I in the right direction? Are the standard patterns for implementing this? Maybe someone can point me to an open-source application that works in a similar fashion? I am really new to iPhone coding, and would be very glad to hear any suggestions. Thanks

• Neglect empty cells while refreshing

  I have an excel macro which refreshes the worksheet. However, if the file (in .csv format) with which the worksheet is being refreshed has empty cells, it's shifting the data from other columns and placing the data in wrong columns. However,if I manually refresh the sheet, it's working fine. I don't know how I can fix this. I just want my whole .csv file including empty cells to appear as it is in the worksheet. • Are there Python ORMs out there that support multiple independent databases concurrently in use?

  I'm writing an application in Python where I wish to use sqlite as the backing store for documents edited by the app, with documents generally living in memory, but being saved to disk-based databases when the application saves. Ideally I'd like to use something like an ORM to make access to the data from my Python application code simple. Unfortunately it seems like the majority of Python ORMs, including SQLAlchemy, SQLObject, Django, and Storm, associate the database connection (or engine or whatever) with the classes representing table data, rather than instances of those classes. This restricts these ORMs to working with a single database connection across all instances. Since I'd like to support having multiple documents open simultaneously, this isn't going to work for me. Are there any ORMs out there that support this usage model in Python? Bazaar seems to support this, but it's quite out of date, and at first glance appears to have some other shortcomings. Currently, the user/password for the database connection is set in the proper J2EE application server's datasources configuration file. I want to change during runtime the datasource's user/password. (e.g.: implement a new web form in which the user is asked to enter de user/password to be used in the database connection). Is there a standard way to do that in J2EE applications or it depends on the J2EE application server? In this case I'm using Orion application server.

• Is Android AVD's firewall somehow more restricted to real Android firewall?

  I have a TCP server running in AVD and a TCP client running in AVD. AVD client dies because the connection refused so we are doubting some restricted firewall settings. I turned off the firewall in my Debian -laptop with this here but it did not fix the problem so some issue with Android -emulator, intro here. How can I make a TCP connection from one AVD to another AVD in the same laptop in Android? On first invocation of a URL the user is prompted with the typical https browser "security alert" popup, on selecting "Yes" the display of the PDF fails. • iPhone, I can send accelerometer data via wifi only 248 lines

  I have created one application on iPhone. I build an application that gather accelerometer value and pass this value to c# server in realtime via wifi connection. I use NSStream with IP and port number. I was working perfectly, but now I realize that it stops after fetch value only 248 lines. I tried to write this value in text file locally on iPhone. I can obtain more than 260 lines of data. Therefore, I suspect that it has some limitation or other problems on NSStream of wifi connection.

• Building a webserver, client doesn't acknowledge HTTP 200 OK frame.

  Hi there, I'm building my own webserver based on a tutorial. I have found a simple way to initiate a TCP connection and send one segment of http data (the webserver will run on a microcontroller, so it will be very small) Anyway, the following is the sequence I need to go through: receive SYN send SYN,ACK receive ACK (the connection is now established) receive ACK with HTTP GET command send ACK send FIN,ACK with HTTP data (e.g 200 OK) receive FIN,ACK <- I don't recieve this packet! send ACK Everything works fine until I send my acknowledgement and HTTP 200 OK message. The client won't send an acknowledgement to those two packages and thus no webpage is being displayed. I've added a pcap file of the sequence how I recorded it with wireshark. Pcap file: http://cl.ly/5f5 (now it's the right data) All sequence and acknowledgement numbers are correct, checksum are ok. Flags are also right. I have no idea what is going wrong.

  Hi, I'm trying to automatically retrieve some email from my GMail account for further parsing, but I can't get my head around on how to do that. I've searched the internets and it suggested that I use PHP's imap functions, like this: $server = '{imap.gmail.com:993/ssl}'; $connection = imap_open($server, '[email protected]', 'password'); But using that code, I get: Warning: imap_open() [function.imap-open]: Couldn't open stream {imap.gmail.com:993/ssl} Any idea what I am doing wrong? Any server setting that might be preventing me from making a connection to GMail (I'm using a shared service)? Is the address even right? Has anyone ever managed to do something like this? I've found tons of examples on how to send email via GMail, but very little of retrieving. Any help is much appreciated.

• Best Work Queue service for distributed clusters

  Hi there. I require a simple work queue type system for asynchronous task management. I have looked at both beanstalkd and gearman. However, both these seem to assume that the client and the queue server are on the same network, and therefore that there will always be a reliable network between them. I need one that can support the client and server being in different places in the world, and be able to manage temporary loss of network connection between clusters. Ideally, this would work in such a way where I post a job to a local proxy that attempts to send it to the main queue server. If there is no network connection, it would try again later, however it would not lose the job or delay the client. Any recommendations?

• ssh script gives "key_read" error

  I'm using a script that connects to a cluster through ssh and sends some commands, then quits the connection. This script basically connects once using ssh, then executes a script in this session. This script loops through a list of commands a few times and after it is finished, the connection is terminated. So this script works fine, except for the fact that after a few loops it gives me the following error at loop 22. And then again at loop 32. The loops do exactly the same thing, so i cannot grasp the problem the script is facing. • python interactive web data/forms/interface communicating with remote server

  What's an efficient method (preferably simple as well) for communicating with a remote server and allowing the user to 'interact' with it (IE submit commands, user interface) via the web browser (IE a text box to input commands, and an text area for output, or various command-less abstracted interfaces)? I have the 'standalone' python code finished for communicating and working(terminal/console based right now). My primary concern is with re-factoring the code to suite the web, which involves establishing a connection (python sockets), and maintaining the connection while the user is logged on. some further details: currently using django framework for the basic back end/templates.

• Why isn't DBIx::Class::Schema::Loader creating my classes?

  I am trying to generate static schemas using DBIx::Class in Perl. The command shown below outputs a Schema.pm and no other files. Any idea what I'm doing wrong, or how to to debug this?   Hi, I'm developing a program in which, from an Android Phone, I have to connect as a client to a Bluetooth medical sensor. I'm using the official Bluetooth API and no problem during connection (SPP profile), but when I end the socket, the sensor is still connected to my phone (although I have close the connection). Are there any way to make a Bluetooth disconnection? I think there is an intent called ACTION_ACL_CONNECTED, which does that. Can anyone explain me how to use this? Thanks in advance.

And after that, how i can use xml from my textarea field (called 'we')?

  Hi, I am working on XP m\c and right now I don't have sybase install. But My server has the sybase 12.5 (that much I only know). I am using web service to talk to that server. How can I call the data from that server, For this I am using a webservice which has some web methods that are using specific connection string. Right now I am using ODBC connection string for that. I want to know do I need to install SYbase clinet at my m/c to call server data. OR else How shouls I proceed, Thaks
