• ASP.NET MVC + MySql Membership Provider, user cannot login

  Hello, I've been playing around with using MySql as the membership provider for asp.net mvc forms authentication. I've got things configured correctly as far as i can tell, and i can create users via both the register action and asp.net web config site. however, when i try to login with one of the users, it does not work. it returns an error as if i had entered a wrong password, or if the account doesn't exist. i have verified in the database that the account does exist. UPDATE So after debugging the login process in the code of the membership provider itself, i discovered that there is a bug in the provider. There is a discrepancy between the password hash that is stored in the database, and the has that is generated based on the inputted password. As a workaround for my issue, i changed the password format to 'encrpyted' and added a machine key to my web.config. I am still interested in figuring out the issue with the hashed format in the provider, and will spend some more time debugging it, and if i can figure out the problem, i will put together a patch and submit it.

• WCF 4: Fileless Activation Fails On XP (IIS 5) that has SSL port enabled.

  I have a service being hosted in IIS on XP via fileless activation. The service starts fine when there is no SSL port enabled for IIS but when the SSL port is enabled, I get the error message: System.ServiceModel.ServiceActivationException: The service '/SkillsPrototype.Web/services/Linkage.svc' cannot be activated due to an exception during compilation. The exception message is: A binding instance has already been associated to listen URI 'http://rcollet.hsb-corp.hsb.com/SkillsPrototype.Web/Services/Linkage.svc'. If two endpoints want to share the same ListenUri, they must also share the same binding object instance. The two conflicting endpoints were either specified in AddServiceEndpoint() calls, in a config file, or a combination of AddServiceEndpoint() and config. . ---> System.InvalidOperationException: A binding instance has already been associated to listen URI 'http://rcollet.hsb-corp.hsb.com/SkillsPrototype.Web/Services/Linkage.svc'. • Splash screen moves up before closing

  In C# I am having a problem with the splash screen. When it is time to close and the main Form1 appears, it moves over to the upper right corner of Form1. It then disappears. I have never had this occur before and have just about run out of ideas to fix it. I want the splash screen to disappear in the center screen and not move over to the upper corner of the opening Form1. • How to setup custom DNS with Azure Websites Preview?

  I created a new Azure Website, using Umbraco as the CMS. I got a page up and going, and I already have a .co.nz domain with www.domains4less.com. There's a whole lot of stuff on the internet about pointing URLs to Azure, but that seems to be more of a redirection service than anything (i.e. my URLs still use azurewebsites.net once I land on my site). Has anybody had any luck getting it to go? • Windows store apps: ScrollViewer with dinamic content

  I have a scrollViewer with an ItemsControl (which holds rows with data) as content. The data from these rows is grabbed from the server so I want to display a ProgressRing with a text until the data arrives. Basically I want the content of the ScrollViewer to be a grid with progress ring and a text and after the data arrives the content to be changed with my ItemsControl. The problem is that the ScrollViewer does not accept more than 1 element as content. Please tell me how can I solve this problem. However each time I try it, it crashes the hack and says I had a access violation. I tried to look up the reasons and most of them dealt with with the size of the location I'm writing to and what I'm copying from. Otherwise, I have absolutely no idea. Any help would be nice. The game is GunRoar and the base address "0x409A7E" is where the DEC function is.

• C# 'is' type check on struct - odd .NET 4.0 x86 optimization behavior

  Since upgrading to VS2010 I'm getting some very strange behavior with the 'is' keyword. The program below (test.cs) outputs True when compiled in debug mode (for x86) and False when compiled with optimizations on (for x86). Compiling all combinations in x64 or AnyCPU gives the expected result, True. All combinations of compiling under .NET 3.5 give the expected result, True. I'm using the batch file below (runtest.bat) to compile and test the code using various combinations of compiler .NET framework. Has anyone else seen these kind of problems under .NET 4.0? Does everyone else see the same behavior as me on their computer when running runtests.bat? #@$@#$?? • OpenGL + cgFX Alpha Blending failure

  I have a shader that needs to additively blend to its output render target. While it had been fully implemented and working, I recently refactored and have done something that is causing the alpha blending to not work anymore. I'm pretty sure that the problem is somewhere in my calls to either OpenGL or cgfx - but I'm currently at a loss for where exactly the problem is, as everything looks like it is set up properly for alpha blending to occur. No OpenGL or cg framework errors are showing up, either. For some context, what I'm doing here is taking a buffer which contains screen position and luminance values for each pixel, copying it to a PBO, and using it as the vertex buffer for drawing GL_POINTS. Everything except for the alpha blending appears to be working as expected. I've confirmed both that the input vertex buffer has the correct values, and that my vertex and fragment shaders are outputting the points to the correct locations and with the correct luminance values. The way that I've arrived at the conclusion that the Alpha blending was broken is by making my vertex shader output every point to the same screen location and then setting the pixel shader to always output a value of float4(0.5) for that pixel. Invariably, the end color (dumped afterwards) ends up being float4(0.5). The confusing part is that as far as I can tell, everything is properly set for alpha blending to occur. The cgfx pass has the two following state assignments (among others - I'll put a full listing at the end): BlendEnable = true; BlendFunc = int2(One, One); This ought to be enough, since I am calling cgSetPassState() - and indeed, when I use glGets to check the values of GL_BLEND_SRC, GL_BLEND_DEST, GL_BLEND, and GL_BLEND_EQUATION they all look appropriate (GL_ONE, GL_ONE, GL_TRUE, and GL_FUNC_ADD). This check was done immediately after the draw call. I've been looking around to see if there's anything other than blending being enabled and the blending function being correctly set that would cause alpha blending not to occur, but without any luck. I considered that I could be doing something wrong with GL, but GL is telling me that blending is enabled. I doubt it's cgFX related (as otherwise the GL state wouldn't even be thinking it was enabled) but it still fails if I explicitly use GL calls to set the blend mode and enable it.   Hi iam using a listbox to show a list of items. in the listbox i ahve an togglebutton on every item. When i click on the toggle button the state of the togglebutton is pressed. But when i am scrolling down in the listbox and scolls up again. The togglebutton state is not pressed. How can i prevent this please help. • Database file is inexplicably locked during SQLite commit

  Hello, I'm performing a large number of INSERTS to a SQLite database. I'm using just one thread. I batch the writes to improve performance and have a bit of security in case of a crash. Basically I cache up a bunch of data in memory and then when I deem appropriate, I loop over all of that data and perform the INSERTS. At seemingly random intervals, though at far too great a rate to ignore or otherwise workaround this problem, I get unhandled SQLiteException: Database file is locked. This occurs when I attempt to commit the transaction. No errors seem to occur prior to then. This does not always happen. Sometimes the whole thing runs without a hitch. No reads are being performed on these files before the commits finish. I have the very latest SQLite binary. I'm compiling for .NET 2.0. I'm using VS 2008. The db is a local file. All of this activity is encapsulated within one thread / process. Virus protection is off (though I think that was only relevant if you were connecting over a network?). As per Scotsman's post I have implemented the following changes: Journal Mode set to Persist DB files stored in C:\Docs + Settings\ApplicationData via System.Windows.Forms.Application.AppData windows call No inner exception Witnessed on two distinct machines (albeit very similar hardware and software) Have been running Process Monitor - no extraneous processes are attaching themselves to the DB files - the problem is definitely in my code... Does anyone have any idea whats going on here? I know I just dropped a whole mess of code, but I've been trying to figure this out for way too long. My thanks to anyone who makes it to the end of this question! brian UPDATES: Thanks for the suggestions so far! I've implemented many of the suggested changes. I feel that we are getting closer to the answer...however... The code above technically works however it is non-deterministic! It is not guaranteed to do anything aside from spin in neutral forever. In practice it seems to work somewhere between the 1st and 10th iteration. If i batch my commits at a reasonable interval damage will be mitigated but I really do not want to leave things in this state... More suggestions welcome!

• Data table columns become out of order after changing data source.

  This is kind of a oddball problem so I will try to describe the best that I can. I have a DataGridView that shows a list of contracts and various pieces of information about them. There are three view modes: Contract Approval, Pre-Production, and Production. Each mode has it's own set of columns that need to be displayed. } The issue is when I check a button the first time, everything shows up ok. I choose another view, everything is ok. But when I click on the first view the columns are out of order (it is like they are in reverse order but it is not exactly the same). this happens only to the first page you click on, the other two are fine. You can click off and click back on as many times as you want after those initial steps, The first list you selected at the start will be out of order the other two will be correct. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

• 'Step Into' is suddenly not working in Visual Studio

  All of a sudden, I have run into an issue where I cannot step into any code through debugging in Visual Studio. The step over works fine, but it refuses to step into (F11) any of my code. This was working before, now all of a sudden it does not. I've tried some things below, but I still had no success: Delete all bin files in every project in my solution, clean solution, re-build solution. Build projects in solution indivdualy Restart machine It an ASP.NET C# application consuming a WCF sevice locally. It is in debug mode. I have a breakpoint set on the page consuming the service. The breakpoint hits, but it will not step into the service code. The ASP.NET site and the service code is all in the same solution. This all of a sudden does not work, it did work before. How can I fix this problem? Adding a breakpoint to the service project I get a warning: Breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document. I deleted all the bin folders for all the projects and re-built them one by one. They all succeeded, but still I am getting the symbols won't load on any breakpoint I put into any project in the solution other than the ASP.NET project where the breakpoint works. • Need help getting DIV inside DIV to stretch to width of contents in Firefox

  I am using a layout similar to the one from Dynamic Drive here: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/layouts/item/css-right-frame-layout/ The main content area (white) has overflow set to auto. I have given the innerTube inside this main content area a border. However if the contents within this innerTube are greater than the width of the main content area, a horizontal scroll bar will appear as expected, but in Firefox these contents will 'overlap' the border and go off screen (can be retrieved by scrolling horizontally). In other words, the right hand border remains in place, and the content just goes over the op of it, and disappears behind the right hand column. In IE it behaves exactly as I want - the content pushes the border off screen to be visible only once you scroll over there. I guess the easiest thing is to paste the source code here. If you copy it into a blank file you'll see what I mean. I've just used one really long word to replicate what happens if a wide image is there instead.   I posted a question previously that got off topic, I'm reposting with better code that I have VERIFIED is compatible with iPhone (it works with mine anyway!) I just want to apply background-position coordinates to the body element and call the script conditionally for iPhone, iPod, & iPad. Everyone has told me (and ALL of the tutorials and Google search results as well) that it's impossible to set scroll position dynamically for iPhone because of the viewport issue. HOWEVER, they are wrong because if you scroll to the bottom of the page and view this javascript demo on iPhone, you can scroll and the <div style="background-position: fixed; top: x (variable)"></div> div DOES stay centered on iPhone. I really hope this question helps alot of people, I thought it was impossible, but it's NOT... I just need help stitching it together! • How to? WCF customBinding over Https

  Hi all, I'm trying to setup a WCF service for internal use, on our external facing web-farm (we dont have a web farm internally, and I need this service to have failover and load-balancing). Requirements: PerSession state, as we need the service to retain variable data for each session. HTTPS. After lots of googling i've read I needed to create a customBinding, which I've done, but not sure if it is correct. Larger message size, as one of the parameters is a byte[] array, which can be a max of 5mb. no requirement to manually edit the client-side app.config. ie, I need the Developer to just add the service reference, and then starts using the object without fiddly changing of app.config. Note: I've previously had this service working under HTTP correctly (using wsHttpBinding). I've also had it working under HTTPS, but it didn't support PerSession state, and lost internal variable values each function call. I'm currently getting this error from the test harness: Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'AppMonitor.IAppMonitorWcfService' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this contract could be found in the client element. NOTE: The error is arising on an Test Harness EXE, that has the WCF service referenced directly under Service References. This is not the problem of an exe referencing another object, that then references the WCF service, that i've read about. The WSDL is showing correctly when browsing to the URL. • Help with understanding why UAC dialog pops up on Win7 for our application

  We have a C++ unmanaged application that appears to cause a UAC prompt. It seems to happen on Win7 and NOT on Vista Unfortunately the UAC dlg is system modal so I can't attach a debugger to check in the code where it is, and running under msdev (we're using 2008) runs in elevated mode. We put a message box at the start of our program/winmain but it doesn't even get that far, so apparently this is in the startup code. What can cause a UAC notification so early and what other things can I do to track down the cause? EDIT Apparently the manifest is an important issue here, but it seems not to be helping me - or perhaps I am not configuring the manifest file correctly. Can someone provide a sample manifest? Also, does the linker/UAC magic figure out that the program "might" write to the registry and set its UAC requirements based on that? There are code paths that might trigger UAC, but we are not even at that point when the UAC dlg comes up. An additional oddity is that this does not seem to happen on Vista with UAC turned on.
