Nvidia Drivers on Debian / Lenny (Stable) -> Installation successful -> Monitors gets black

I have successfully installed the proprietary drivers for my nvidia (geforce 7300 gt) graphics card on debian/lenny. I know its not the best way to chose for driver installation ( see this link: http://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers#non-freedrivers ). but the two ways seem to be possible for me (nvidia-kernel module compilation). Now the problem is that the monitors gets black, the power light starts blinking after i launch the x-server. Triple (3) Monitors under Linux

I have a 3 monitor setup (each 1680x1050) via an Nvidia NVS440 (2 GPUs, 2 outputs per GPU totalling 4 outputs); this works fine under Windows XP,7 but caused considerable headaches under Linux (Ubuntu 9.04). I had previously used an XFX 9600GT and the onboard XFX 9300GS to produce the same result but the card was noisy and power hungry and I was hoping that there was some magical switch in the NVS4400 that got rid of this annoying problem - turns out the NVS440 is just 2 cards on one physical PCB :-p (I searched the net high and low for people using this card under Linux but found nothing, if anything the card uses less power and is fan less so I was to benefit from it either way) Anyway, using either set up there were 5 solutions available: Have 3 separate X instances, all un joined Have 3 separate X instances, adjoined by Xinerama Have 2 separate X instances - One using twin-view, both adjoined by Xinerama Have 2 separate X instances - One using twin-view but no Xinerama Have a single Twin-view setup and leave the 3rd screen unplugged :-p The 4rd option, using 2 separate X instances and twinview (but no xinerama) was the best balance in terms of performance and usability but caused 2 really annoying issues You couldn't control (without altering the shortcuts) which screen an application opened onto - and once it was opened you couldn't move it to another screen without opening up terminal and forcing it to move Nvidia's overriding or falsifying of Xinerama breaks and the 2 screens joined by Twin view behave like a single huge screen causing popups to open in the middle of both screens and maximising of windows stretches to the width of the first 2 screens Firefox can only run one instance as the same user so having multiple firefox windows requires at least 2 users The second option "feels" like the right option, but OpenGL is basically disabled and playing any sort of game or even running anything graphical causes a huge performance drop and instability - even trying to run a basic emulator for gba or gens just causes the system to fall over. It works just enough to stare at your desktop and do nothing but as soon as you start doing some work - opening windows, dragging things around - running multiple copies of firefox it just really feels slow. The last open, only going dual screen works perfectly and everything performs as required, full GPU acceleration - two logical screen spaces - perfect, just make it work across GPUs like windows! :-p Anyway, I know RandR was supposed to pick up the slack when it would introduced GPU objects of sorts to allow multiple GPUs to be stitched together to create one huge desktop at a much deeper layer than Xinerama. I was wondering if this has now been fixed (I noticed X server 1.7 is out) and whether anyone has got it running successfully? Again, my requirements are: One huge desktop to drag any window across Maximising of windows to each screen (as XP does) Running fullscreen apps on the primary screen and disabling the mouse from moving onto the others or on all 3 stretched Finally as a side note; I am aware of the Matrox triple (and dual) head splitter but even the price they go for on eBay is more than I can afford atm, my argument: I shouldn't have to buy extra hardware to get something to work on Linux when it's something that's existed in the windows world for a long time (can you tell I don't get on with X :-p); If I had the cash I'd have bought the latest version of this box already (the new version finally supports large resolutions as the displays I have 1680x1050 each).

Google Chrome and Firefox Rendering

When attempting to visit sites running javascript, Google Chrome and Firefox often fail to render them properly. For example, when hitting google.com/codesearch results, I just get a blank page. http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/8527/200910071518.png This rendering problem happens in both browsers on a machine running Windows XP Professional x64. Internet explorer is able to render the page just fine. Also, controls on other pages sometimes fail to respond, for example in Google Docs. Has anyone encountered this issue before in Chrome/Firefox? Do they share a common installation of the V8 javascript engine? I'm baffled by this issue. Network unreachable on Ubuntu guest after trying to set up a host only network on Virtualbox

I have a Mac OS X host and a bunch of guests including Ubuntu and Arch Linux. I was trying to set up a host-only network at eth1 to let me ssh into the system. But now eth0 isn't working properly either. Ubuntu can no longer connect to remote hosts or browse the internet. It tells me that the network is unreachable. What's gone wrong here? How to stretch the image from one screen to two screens

I want to be able to stretch the image from one monitor to a second monitor even if i have to use some software to do it. For example i want the top half of the image that is now shown on my first monitor to occupy the whole second monitor and i want the bottom half to occupy the whole first monitor, or the other way around i don't really care as long as it works. I would be cool to know how to do the same stuff but to the left half and right half. I know that image pixels would have twice the lenght or height this way but i don't really care about it as long as it works so basically i want the stuff to show on both monitors but with the same pixels as before. I have a hd4870 and windows7 and hd4000 family doesnt support having two monitors behaving like a large one, only hd5000 upwards, this would solve my problems without any of the drawbacks but it just can't be done (or maybe it can via software but i'm just too tired of searching). A solution to make almost any graphic card have two monitors behaving like a large one is matrox dualhead2go but that's just as expensive as a good hd5000 card so it's not worth it. thanks in advance EDIT I guess that nobody so far was able to fully comprehend my problem that was very explicitly written but i will elaborate some more. My hd4870 can have 2 monitors working with it but some stuff like games won't run on both monitors, which sucks. There are some ways to circumvent this problem and two of them are perfect or almost perfect but expensive and the third would be a software solution that would make it possible. The first one is to have and hd5000 family video card which will work just fine with both monitors. The second is to have a matrox dualhead2go that will make my hd4870 detect my two monitors as a large monitor. The third is to have a software that makes my two displays be detected as a large display and then captures the output of the video card, splits the images and renders them as 2d images to both monitors OR a simpler one but that would make outputted pixels double the width or height would be to capture the output of the graphics card to one screen, split it in two and enlarge it to fit both monitors and then output it to the monitors. p.s. By capturing the output of the video card i mean just make the video card process the stuff in a certain way. Making the video card detect two monitors as a large one via software may be a bit impossible or impracticable but stretching the output as a 2d image from one to both monitors for some coders should be a walk in the park so it would be likely that such program would exist or that some widespread softwares for dual monitor would have such function in them.

SignalR cannot read property client of undefined

I'm trying to add SignalR to my project (ASPNET MVC 4). But I can't make it work. In the below image you can see the error I'm receiving. I've read a lot of stackoverflow posts but none of them is resolving my issue. CSG operations on implicit surfaces with marching cubes [SOLVED]

I render isosurfaces with marching cubes, (or perhaps marching squares as this is 2D) and I want to do set operations like set difference, intersection and union. I thought this was easy to implement, by simply choosing between two vertex scalars from two different implicit surfaces, but it is not. For my initial testing, I tried with two spheres circles, and the set operation difference. i.e A - B. One circle is moving and the other one is stationary. Here's the approach I tried when picking vertex scalars and when classifying corner vertices as inside or outside. The code is written in C++. OpenGL is used for rendering, but that's not important. It just "discards" the whole triangle. Do I need to interpolate in some other way, or combine the vertex scalar values? I'd love some help with this. A full testcase can be downloaded HERE EDIT: Basically, my implementation of marching squares works fine. It is my scalar field which is broken, and I wonder what the correct way would look like. Preferably I'm looking for a general approach to implement the three set operations I discussed above, for the usual primitives (circle, rectangle/square, plane)

If i continue, the page loads with features as i mentioned earlier. If i Break, then it stays in the jquery.tinymce.js file with a yellow text-background. I have no experience with Javascript/jquery. And new in ASP .NET MVC 4.0, actually this is my first try of web application in .net. I updated jquery from nuGet. What could be the possible ways to solve it?

Comments show up in database, but only show up on my index page after a refresh.

Hi, I have AJAX, PHP, jquery, and mySQL in this very simple website I'm trying to make. All there is is a text area that sends data to the database and uses ajax\jquery to display that data onto the index page. For some reason though, I press submit and the data goes to the database, but I have to refresh the page myself to see that data on the page. I'm assuming that the problem has to do with my AJAX JQuery or even some mistake in the index. Also, when I type the text into the text area and press submit, the text remains in the textarea until I refresh the page. Haha, sorry if this is such a noob question.. I'm trying to learn. mootools slideshow not working with JQuery. Need help !

I am working on a site http://tapasya.co.in where i just impemented mootools slideshow. But I noticed that menubar that i was using stopped working, it was supposed to drop horizontaly but it is not being displayed now. I have used jquery for it. Please see the source of the web page. If someone could point me to the next step I should do to find the actual cause, I would be very grateful. Experimenting (removing and returning code) does not do much good, because I don't know how to reproduce it, so it would take large amounts of time on each iteration just to convince myself that the bug is still there. I have found that people often suggest something like "switching compiler optimizations", but since the exception is not thrown deterministically, I don't want to simply rearrange some bytes and hope that it never returns. jquery $.getJSON only works once in internet explorer Help Please!!!

I have a php function which inserts a searchbar into each page on a website. The site checks to see if the user has javascript enabled and if they do it inserts some jquery ajax stuff to link select boxes (instead of using it's fallback onchange="form.submit()"). $.getJSON works perfectly for me in other browsers except in IE, if I do a full page refresh (ctrl+F5) in IE my ajax works flawlessly until I navigate to a new page (or the same page with $PHP_SELF) either by submiting the form or clicking a link the jquery onchange function fires but then jquery throws an error: Webpage error details Message: Object doesn't support this property or method Line: 123 Char: 183 Code: 0 URI: http://~#UNABLE~TO~DISCLOSE#~/jquery-1.4.2.min.js It seems like jquery function $.getJSON() is gone??? I'm trying to get a third party audio library (STK) working inside Xcode. Along with the standard .h files, many of the implementation files include a file called SKINI.msg. SKINI.msg is in the same directory as all of the header files. The header files are getting included fine, but the compiler complains that it can't find SKINI.msg. What do I need to do to get Xcode to happily include SKINI.msg? Improving the performance of XSL

In the below XSL for the variable "insert-data", I have an input param with the structure, <insert-data> <data compareIndex="4" nodeName="d1e1"> <a/> </data> <data compareIndex="5" nodeName="d1e1"> <b/> </data> <data compareIndex="7" nodeName="d1e2"> <a/> </data> <data compareIndex="9" nodeName="d1e2"> <b/> </data> </insert-data> where "nodeName" is the id of a node and "compareIndex" is the position of the text content relative to the node having id "$nodeName". I am using the below XSL to select all the text nodes(generate-id) that satisfy the above condition and construct a data xml. The below implementation works perfectly but the time taken for the execution is in min. Is there a better way of implementing or is there any in-efficient operation being used. From my observation the code where the preceding text length is calculated consumes the major time. Please share your thoughts to improve the performance of the XSL. $.noConflict() not working with mootools slide show. Need help !

I am working on a site http://tapasya.co.in where i just impemented mootools slideshow. But I noticed that menubar that i was using stopped working, it was supposed to drop horizontaly but it is not being displayed now. I have used jquery for it. Please see the source of the web page. What can be the problem ? Mootools conflicting with javascript or some other problem. Hey guys, I need a little help.. iv'e been developing a Jqery plug-in to get the page ranks of urls on a website using XHR, The problem is when requesting the rank from google servers the page is returned no content, but if i use an inspector and get the url that was requests and go to it via my browser the pageranks are shown. so it must be something with headers but its just got me puzzled. SQL query mixing aggregated results and single values

I have a table with transactions. Each transaction has a transaction ID, and accounting period (AP), and a posting value (PV), as well as other fields. Some of the IDs are duplicated, usually because the transaction was done in error. To give an example, part of the table might look like: ID PV AP 123 100 2 123 -100 5 In this case the transaction was added in AP2 then removed in AP5. Another example would be: ID PV AP 456 100 2 456 -100 5 456 100 8 In the first example, the problem is that if I am analyzing what was spent in AP2, there is a transaction in there which actually shouldn't be taken into account because it was taken out again in AP5. In the second example, the second two transactions shouldn't be taken into account because they cancel each other out. I want to label as many transactions as possible which shouldn't be taken into account as erroneous. To identify these transactions, I want to find the ones with duplicate IDs whose PVs sum to zero (like ID 123 above) or transactions where the PV of the earliest one is equal to sum(PV), as in the second example. This second condition is what is causing me grief. So far I have SELECT * FROM table WHERE table.ID IN (SELECT table.ID FROM table GROUP BY table.ID HAVING COUNT(*) > 1 AND (SUM(table.PV) = 0 OR SUM(table.PV) = <PV of first transaction in each group>)) ORDER BY table.ID; The bit in chevrons is what I'm trying to do and I'm stuck. Can I do it like this or is there some other method I can use in SQL to do this? Edit 1: Btw I forgot to say that I'm using SQL Compact 3.5, in case it matters. Edit 2: I think the code snippet above is a bit misleading. I still want to mark out transactions with duplicate IDs where sum(PV) = 0, as in the first example. But where the PV of the earliest transaction = sum(PV), as in the second example, what I actually want is to keep the earliest transaction and mark out all the others with the same ID. Sorry if that caused confusion. Edit 3: I've been playing with Clodoaldo's solution and have made some progress, but still can't get quite what I want. I'm trying to get the transactions I know for certain to be erroneous. Suppose the following transactions are also in the table: ID PV AP 789 100 2 789 200 5 789 -100 8 In this example sum(PV) < 0 and the earliest PV < sum(PV) so I don't want to mark any of these out. If I modify Clodoaldo's query as follows: select t.* from t left join ( select id, min(ap) as ap, sum(pv) as sum_pv from t group by id having sum(pv) <> 0 ) s on t.id = s.id and t.ap = s.ap and t.pv = s.sum_pv where s.id is null This gives the result ID PV AP 123 100 2 123 -100 5 456 -100 5 456 100 8 789 100 3 789 200 5 789 -100 8 Whilst the first 4 transactions are ok (they would be marked out), the 789 transactions are also there, and I don't want them. But I can't figure out how to modify the query so that they're not included. Any ideas?
