• Consuming an .ics in YQL

  How would one consume an ICS file in YQL? Given an .ics such as: http://www.hebcal.com/export/ba/8a35a5efbb27548bc0272b94b8de96.ics?subscribe=1&v=1&year=2010&month=x&nh=on&tag=fp.ql&c=off How would I go about using YQL to select certain events based on fields, etc. I've tried the standard formats, and the only format that seems to even parse the file is HTML - which puts it all in a <p>, and removes the line returns that give the file meaning. I've had some success with using Yahoo Pipe's Fetch Feed Source, but was wondering if it's possible to do this entirely in YQL. Any ideas?

  Hi everyone, I’m having some difficulties with a query which purpose is to give users with more than one thread (called CS) in current year a 5% point “raise”. My relational schema looks like this: Thread = (threadid, threadname, threadLocation) threadoffering = (threadid, season, year, user) user = (name, points) Then, what I need is to check: WHERE thread.threadid = threadoffering.threadid AND where threadoffering.year AND threadoffering.season = currentDate AND where threadoffering.User 1 GIVE 5 % raise TO user.points I hope it is explained thoroughly but otherwise here it is in short text: Give a 5 % “point raise” to all users who has more than 1 thread in threadLocation CS in the current year and season (always dynamic, so for example now is year = 2010 and season is = spring). • Windows Workflow Foundation 4 (WF4) Delay

  I'm working with the the Release Candidate of Visual Studio 2010 using Wf4 to write a new workflow for approving resource requests. In my workflow, I would like for a request to expire after a few days if no approval has been made for the request. We did this in WF 3.5 (Visual Studio 2008) by adding a Delay timer into an EventDrivenActivity parallel to the EventDrivenActivity that was awaiting an approver to come and approve the request. If the Delay expired before an approval was made, the EventDrivenActivity would terminate the request. Does anyone know if there is a similar mechanism for doing this in WF4?

McLean'], u'status': [u'Checked Out'], u'date_matched_on': [u'5/20/2010 10:57 AM']} And form.save() throws this error: Exception in photo_match: The Entity could not be changed because the data didn't validate. I have been trying to figure out why this is happening, but cannot pinpoint the exact problem. I can change my Entities in the admin interface just fine. Everything is great, but I really don't understand how to set in JSON Marshalling and Unmarshalling converting option for dates and numbers. I have a User class: @XmlRootElement public class User { private String username; private String password; private java.util.Date createdOn; // ... getters and setters } When createdOn property is serialized, a string like this: '2010-05-12T00:00:00+02:00', but I need to choose date Pattern both, to marshall and unmarshall. • Most pain-free time registration software for developers ?

  I work as a consultant in a medium-sized firm. We need to keep track of time spent on individual tasks and which customers to bill to. Our current system for doing this is an old in-house system, that needs to be retired for various reasons. Most developers don't like registering time, so I am looking for the best tool for this job, that minimizes the time needed to register time. Must have features: Must be simple and easy to use. Must have reporting feature to use for billing. Must have an API, so we can integrate in-house tools. Registering time should be based on hours worked (ie. today, worked on Customer A, Task B from 8 AM to 12 AM). TFS integration is a plus, but not needed (ie. register time on a work item) May be open source or a paid product; doesn't really matter. What would you recommend ?

• Setting the background color of WPF TabControl inactive tabs

  Is there a simple way to set the background brush of all inactive tabs in a WPF TabControl? I want to emulate the look of VS 2010 on a TabControl--the background color of the control's inactive tabs should match the background color of the window in which the TabControl is sited, so that you see only the text of the tab, and not the tab itself. I know it will take a ControlTemplate to do it; I am trying to figure out what to put in the control template. Put another way, How do I specify that a particular brush should be applied to all inactive tabs? Thanks for your help.

• Powershell 2.0 Hang When Run From MsDeploy pre- post- ops using c/

  I am trying to invoke powershell during the preSync call in a MSDeploy command, but powershell does not exit the process after it has been called. The command (from command line): "tools/MSDeploy/msdeploy.exe" -verb:sync -preSync:runCommand="powershell.exe -NoLogo -NoProfile -NonInteractive -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command C:/MyInstallPath/deploy.ps1 Set-WebAppOffline Uninstall-Service ",waitInterval=60000 -usechecksum -source:dirPath="build/for-deployment" -dest:wmsvc=BLUEPRINT-X86,username=deployer,password=deployer,dirPath=C:/MyInstallPath I used a hack here (http://therightstuff.de/2010/02/06/How-We-Practice-Continuous-Integration-And-Deployment-With-MSDeploy.aspx) that gets the powershell process and kills it but that didn't work. I also tried taskkill and the sysinternals equivalent, but nothing will kill the process so that MSDeploy errors out. The command is executed, but then just sits there. Any ideas what might be causing powershell to hang like this? I have found a few other similar issues around the web but no answers.

  I'm developing a .NET wrapper for WinPcap called Pcap.Net. I'm trying to make sure this wrapper has high performance and I want to compare it to WinPcap and to other .net wrappers for WinPcap. The features I want to profile are: WinPcap native features (sending packets in different ways, receiving packets in different ways...) Interpreting packets that Pcap.Net knows how to interpret (like Etherent, IPv4, UDP, TCP, ICMP, ...) Building packet that Pcap.Net knows how to build (the same types it knows how to interpret). I also want to be able to profile the benchmark using Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate profiling tools. My question is: What should my benchmark exactly do to cover these issues and how would you suggest to build it?

• VSDB to SSDT part 3 : command-line deployment with SqlPackage.exe, replacement for Vsdbcmd.exe

  For our continuous integration needs, we use a powershell script to handle deployment. A simpler approach would be to have a deployment task embedded within the build process. See the solution provided here by Jakob Ehn (a most interesting read which also dives into the '”deploying from Visual Studio” specifics) : http://geekswithblogs.net/jakob/archive/2012/04/25/deploying-ssdt-projects-with-tfs-build.aspx   For our needs, though, clearly separating our build phase from our deployment phase is important. It allows us to instantly deploy old versions. Also it is more convenient for continuous integration. So we stick with the powershell script approach. With VSDB projects, that script used to call the following command (the vsdbcmd executable was locally available, along with needed libraries): vsdbcmd.exe /a:Deploy /dd /cs:<CONNECTIONSTRING TO TARGET DB> /dsp:SQL /manifest:< PATH TO .deploymanifest FILE>   To be able to do the approximately same thing with a SSDT produced file (dacpac), you would call this command on a machine which has VS2012 installed (or the SSDT installed, see here : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh500335%28v=vs.103%29):   C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DAC\bin\SqlPackage.exe /Action:Publish /SourceFile:<PATH TO Database.dacpac FILE> /Profile:<PATH TO .publish.xml FILE>   And from within a powershell script :   & "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DAC\bin\SqlPackage.exe" /Action:Publish /SourceFile:<PATH TO Database.dacpac FILE> /Profile:<PATH TO .publish.xml FILE>   The command will consume a publish.xml file where the connection string and the deployment options are specified. • How do I get Nant to use the 4.0 compiler to target .Net 3.5

  Yes I know that sounds a little bit crazy, but I've got .Net 3.5 deployed in the field and I'd like to use the new 4.0 compiler to target it. There are several new syntactic sugar features in the latest versions of Vb.Net and C# which I would like to use,but I am unable (just yet) to enforce a new version of the .Net framework and CLR on my client base. Before the nay sayers jump in with both feet... I have just successfully used Studio 2010 to compile a 3.5 targeted app which used VB.Net auto properties (A new feature in VB.Net 10) so I know the compilers are capable somehow. So back to my question.... How do I convince Nant to use the 4.0 compiler, but to target .Net 3.5 (CLR 2.0) Update: I am using the csc and vbc tasks and not the Solution task. although I'd settle for an answer on how to do this direct with the compilers at this point.

I want to be able to apply a WHERE statement to return a group of them and then return which date is the earliest from one column and which one is the latest from another column. Here is an example table: ID StartDate EndDate Person 1 01/03/2010 03/03/2010 Paul 2 12/05/2010 22/05/2010 Steve 3 04/03/2101 08/03/2010 Paul So I want to return all the records where Person = 'Paul'.   Hi I'm using ElementTree to parse out an xml feed from Kuler. I'm only beginning in python but am stuck here.   Suppose I have a line of code that starts like the following: Func1(Func2(Func3 Is it possible to set up Visual Studio (2005, 2008, 2010) IDE, so that when I hit ';' it will auto-complete all the brackets. I am only interested in brackets, nothing fancier. It doesn't have to be ';' key, it can be another key that auto-completes both brackets and ';'. This is a tiny thing that pops-up time and time again, and I've always wondered if I had to live with it. Thanks.

• Creating a new project for Team Foundation Server Basic.

  We have installed and configured TFS, we have connected to it using Visual Studio.  Now it is time to get a project created. From Team Explorer, we will right click on the servername\Collection item in the tree to select New Team Project. Once selected, this will open the New Team Project dialog.  Provide a name, then click Next.   The next step is to select a Project Template.  By default you will have 2 available (but there are many downloadable options).  It is important to understand what the templates bring and what options we will live with in the Lifecycle Management option we select. Once selected, click Next. Now we are at the point to specify where our code will be collected, Source Code settings part of the wizard.  Since we are starting new, we will select an empty folder. Click Next. Next we get a Summary view of the options selected. Click Finish. Once the template is downloaded, applied and our choices processed, we have completed the project creation.   This should be our final product …

• Visual Studio does not flag unterminated string constant in VB.Net

  I noticed that if I leave off the terminating double quote for a string constant in Visual Studio 2010, there is no error or even a warning, i.e. Dim foo as String = "hi However, the continuous integration tool we are using flags an error: error BC30648: String constants must end with a double quote. What's going on here? Is there some language rule in VB.NET that makes a terminating double quote optional "sometimes"? Is there some setting in Visual Studio that will make it flag this as an error?

Whats the solution for this?
