  • Getting an Error Trying to Create an Object in Python

    - by Nick Rogers
    I am trying to create an object from a class in python but I am getting an Error, "e_tank = EnemyTank() TypeError: 'Group' object is not callable" I am not sure what this means, I have tried Google but I couldn't get a clear answer on what is causing this error. Does anyone understand why I am unable to create an object from my EnemyTank Class? Here is my code: #Image Variables bg = 'bg.jpg' bunk = 'bunker.png' enemytank = 'enemy-tank.png' #Import Pygame Modules import pygame, sys from pygame.locals import * #Initializing the Screen pygame.init() screen = pygame.display.set_mode((640,360), 0, 32) background = pygame.image.load(bg).convert() bunker_x, bunker_y = (160,0) class EnemyTank(pygame.sprite.Sprite): e_tank = pygame.image.load(enemytank).convert_alpha() def __init__(self, startpos): pygame.sprite.Sprite.__init__(self, self.groups) self.pos = startpos self.image = EnemyTank.image self.rect = self.image.get_rect() def update(self): self.rect.center = self.pos class Bunker(pygame.sprite.Sprite): bunker = pygame.image.load(bunk).convert_alpha() def __init__(self, startpos): pygame.spriter.Sprite.__init__(self, self.groups) self.pos = startpos self.image = Bunker.image self.rect = self.image.get_rect() def getCollisionObjects(self, EnemyTank): if (EnemyTank not in self._allgroup, False): return False self._allgroup.remove(EnemyTank) result = pygame.sprite.spritecollide(EnemyTank, self._allgroup, False) self._allgroup.add(EnemyTank) def update(self): self.rect.center = self.pos #Setting Up The Animation x = 0 clock = pygame.time.Clock() speed = 250 allgroup = pygame.sprite.Group() EnemyTank = allgroup Bunker = allgroup e_tank = EnemyTank() bunker = Bunker()5 #Main Loop while True: for event in pygame.event.get(): if event.type == QUIT: pygame.quit() sys.exit() screen.blit(background, (0,0)) screen.blit(bunker, (bunker_x, bunker_y)) screen.blit(e_tank, (x, 0)) pygame.display.flip() #Animation milli = clock.tick() seconds = milli/1000. dm = seconds*speed x += dm if x>640: x=0 #Update the Screen pygame.display.update()

  • Cheetah with Cherrypy: how to load base templates, and do so automatically on change during developm

    - by Heikki Toivonen
    I am working on a cherrypy+cheetah app and would like to improve the development experience. I have everything working when I manually compile templates beforehand. However, during development I'd rather just load the templates every time they are referenced so that I don't need to kill and restart my application. I have a couple of issues I am facing: If I have templates inheriting from base templates, I get import errors (can't find base templates). I think I had this actually working during my experiments, but unfortunately didn't save it and now I can't make it work. Suppose I get 1. working, how do make it so that edits even in base templates get picked up without restart. Below is my sample application that should demonstrate the problems. The directory structure is as follows: t.py templates/ base.tmpl index.tmpl t.py: import sys import cherrypy from Cheetah.Template import Template class T: def __init__(self, foo): self.foo = foo @cherrypy.expose def index(self): return Template(file='templates/index.tmpl', searchList=[{'foo': self.foo}]).respond() cherrypy.quickstart(T(sys.argv[1])) base.tmpl: #def body This is the body from the base #end def This is the base doc index.tmpl: #from templates.base import base #extends base #def body $base.body(self) This is the extended body #end def This is from index Run it like this: python t.py Something

  • Help debugging c fifos code - stack smashing detected - open call not functioning - removing pipes

    - by nunos
    I have three bugs/questions regarding the source code pasted below: stack smashing deteced: In order to compile and not have that error I have addedd the gcc compile flag -fno-stack-protector. However, this should be just a temporary solution, since I would like to find where the cause for this is and correct it. However, I haven't been able to do so. Any clues? For some reason, the last open function call doesn't work and the programs just stops there, without an error, even though the fifo already exists. I want to delete the pipes from the filesystem after before terminating the processes. I have added close and unlink statements at the end, but the fifos are not removed. What am I doing wrong? Thanks very much in advance. P.S.: I am pasting here the whole source file for additional clarity. Just ignore the comments, since they are in my own native language. server.c: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/stat.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <errno.h> #define MAX_INPUT_LENGTH 100 #define FIFO_NAME_MAX_LEN 20 #define FIFO_DIR "/tmp/" #define FIFO_NAME_CMD_CLI_TO_SRV "lrc_cmd_cli_to_srv" typedef enum { false, true } bool; • Spikes in Socket Performance

    - by Harun Prasad
    We are facing random spikes in high throughput transaction processing system using sockets for IPC. Below is the setup used for the run: The client opens and closes new connection for every transaction, and there are 4 exchanges between the server and the client. We have disabled the TIME_WAIT, by setting the socket linger (SO_LINGER) option via getsockopt as we thought that the spikes were caused due to the sockets waiting in TIME_WAIT. There is no processing done for the transaction. Only messages are passed. OS used Centos 5.4 The average round trip time is around 3 milli seconds, but some times the round trip time ranges from 100 milli seconds to couple of seconds. Steps used for Execution and Measurement and output Starting the server $ python sockServerLinger.py /dev/null & Starting the client to post 1 million transactions to the server. And logs the time for a transaction in the client.log file. $ python sockClient.py 1000000 client.log Once the execution finishes the following command will show the execution time greater than 100 milliseconds in the format <line_number>:<execution_time>. $ grep -n "0.[1-9]" client.log | less Below is the example code for Server and Client. Server # File: sockServerLinger.py import socket, traceback,time import struct host = '' port = 9999 l_onoff = 1 l_linger = 0 lingeropt = struct.pack('ii', l_onoff, l_linger) s = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_STREAM) s.setsockopt(socket.SOL_SOCKET, socket.SO_REUSEADDR, 1) s.setsockopt(socket.SOL_SOCKET, socket.SO_LINGER, lingeropt) s.bind((host, port)) s.listen(1) while 1: try: clientsock, clientaddr = s.accept() print "Got connection from", clientsock.getpeername() data = clientsock.recv(1024*1024*10) #print "asdasd",data numsent=clientsock.send(data) data1 = clientsock.recv(1024*1024*10) numsent=clientsock.send(data) ret = 1 while(ret>0): data1 = clientsock.recv(1024*1024*10) ret = len(data) clientsock.close() except KeyboardInterrupt: raise except: print traceback.print_exc() continue Client # File: sockClient.py import socket, traceback,sys import time i = 0 while 1: try: st = time.time() s = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET,socket.SOCK_STREAM) while (s.connect_ex(('127.0.0.1',9999)) != 0): continue numsent=s.send("asd"*1000) response = s.recv(6000) numsent=s.send("asd"*1000) response = s.recv(6000) i+=1 if i == int(sys.argv[1]): break except KeyboardInterrupt: raise except: print "in exec:::::::::::::",traceback.print_exc() continue print time.time() -st

  • Cannot turn off autocommit in a script using the Django ORM

    - by Wes
    I have a command line script that uses the Django ORM and MySQL backend. I want to turn off autocommit and commit manually. For the life of me, I cannot get this to work. Here is a pared down version of the script. A row is inserted into testtable every time I run this and I get this warning from MySQL: "Some non-transactional changed tables couldn't be rolled back". #!/usr/bin/python import os import sys django_dir = os.path.abspath(os.path.normpath(os.path.join(os.path.dirname(__file__), '..'))) sys.path.append(django_dir) os.environ['DJANGO_DIR'] = django_dir os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'myproject.settings' from django.core.management import setup_environ from myproject import settings setup_environ(settings) from django.db import transaction, connection cursor = connection.cursor() cursor.execute('SET autocommit = 0') cursor.execute('insert into testtable values (\'X\')') cursor.execute('rollback') I also tried placing the insert in a function and adding Django's commit_manually wrapper, like so: @transaction.commit_manually def myfunction(): cursor = connection.cursor() cursor.execute('SET autocommit = 0') cursor.execute('insert into westest values (\'X\')') cursor.execute('rollback') myfunction() I also tried setting DISABLE_TRANSACTION_MANAGEMENT = True in settings.py, with no further luck. I feel like I am missing something obvious. Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Use the Django ORM in a standalone script (again)

    - by Rishabh Manocha
    I'm trying to use the Django ORM in some standalone screen scraping scripts. I know this question has been asked before, but I'm unable to figure out a good solution for my particular problem. I have a Django project with defined models. What I would like to do is use these models and the ORM in my scraping script. My directory structure is something like this: project scrape #scraping scripts ... test.py web django_project settings.py ... #Django files I tried doing the following in project/scrape/test.py: print os.path.join(os.path.abspath('..'), 'web', 'django_project') sys.path.append(os.path.join(os.path.abspath('..'), 'web', 'django_project')) print sys.path print "-------" os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'django_project.settings' #print os.environ from django_project.myapp.models import MyModel print MyModel.objects.count() However, I get an ImportError when I try to run test.py: Traceback (most recent call last): File "test.py", line 12, in <module> from django_project.myapp.models import MyModel ImportError: No module named django_project.myapp.models One solution I found around this problem is to create a symbolic link to ../web/govcheck in the scrape folder: :scrape rmanocha$ ln -s ../web/govcheck ./govcheck With this, I can then run test.py just fine. However, this seems like a hack, and more importantly, is not very portable (I will have to create this symbolic link everywhere I run this code). So, I was wondering if anyone has any better solutions for my problem?

  • What is the difference between AF_INET and PF_INET constants?

    - by Denilson Sá
    Looking at examples about socket programming, we can see that some people use AF_INET while others use PF_INET. In addition, sometimes both of them are used at the same example. The question is: Is there any difference between them? Which one should we use? If you can answer that, another question would be... Why there are these two similar (but equal) constants? What I've discovered, so far: The socket manpage In (Unix) socket programming, we have the socket() function that receives the following parameters: int socket(int domain, int type, int protocol); The manpage says: The domain argument specifies a communication domain; this selects the protocol family which will be used for communication. These families are defined in <sys/socket.h>. And the manpage cites AF_INET as well as some other AF_ constants for the domain parameter. Also, at the NOTES section of the same manpage, we can read: The manifest constants used under 4.x BSD for protocol families are PF_UNIX, PF_INET, etc., while AF_UNIX etc. are used for address families. However, already the BSD man page promises: "The protocol family generally is the same as the address family", and subsequent standards use AF_* everywhere. The C headers The sys/socket.h does not actually define those constants, but instead includes bits/socket.h. This file defines around 38 AF_ constants and 38 PF_ constants like this: #define PF_INET 2 /* IP protocol family. */ #define AF_INET PF_INET Python The Python socket module is very similar to the C API. However, there are many AF_ constants but only one PF_ constant (PF_PACKET). Thus, in Python we have no choice but use AF_INET. I think this decision to include only the AF_ constants follows one of the guiding principles: "There should be one-- and preferably only one --obvious way to do it." (The Zen of Python)

  • Odd difference between Python 2.5 and Python 2.6 on MacOS 10.6 using ctypes and libproc proc_pidinfo

    - by cemasoniv
    I'm trying to determine the current working directory of a process given its PID. The command-line utility lsof does something similar. Here's the source to the python script: import ctypes from ctypes import util import sys PROC_PIDVNODEPATHINFO = 9 proc = ctypes.cdll.LoadLibrary(util.find_library("libproc")) print(proc.proc_pidinfo) class vnode_info(ctypes.Structure): _fields_ = [('data', ctypes.c_ubyte * 152)] class vnode_info_path(ctypes.Structure): _fields_ = [('vip_vi', vnode_info), ('vip_path', ctypes.c_char * 1024)] class proc_vnodepathinfo(ctypes.Structure): _fields_ = [('pvi_cdir', vnode_info_path), ('pvi_rdir', vnode_info_path)] inst = proc_vnodepathinfo() pid = int(sys.argv[1]) ret = proc.proc_pidinfo( pid, PROC_PIDVNODEPATHINFO, 0, ctypes.byref(inst), ctypes.sizeof(inst) ) print(ret, inst.pvi_cdir.vip_path) However, even though this script behaves as expected on Python 2.6, it does not work in Python 2.5: host:dir user$ sudo /usr/bin/python2.6 script.py 2698 <_FuncPtr object at 0x100419ae0> (2352, '/') host:dir user$ sudo /usr/bin/python2.5 script.py 2698 <_FuncPtr object at 0x19fdc0> (0, '') (PID 2698 is "Activity Monitor.app"). Note the different return values. Since this program strongly based on ctypes, I can't imagine any difference in Python itself that would cause this. The same behavior (as Python 2.5) occurs with my self-built Python 3.2. I'm not sure what versioning information I can give to help track down the weirdness -- or even come up with a solution for 2.5 -- but here's some stuff: host:dir user$ otool -L /usr/bin/python2.6 /usr/bin/python2.6: /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.2.0) host:dir user$ otool -L /usr/bin/python2.5 /usr/bin/python2.5 (architecture i386): /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.2.0) /usr/bin/python2.5 (architecture ppc7400): /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.2.0) host:dir user$ uname -a Darwin host.local 10.8.0 Darwin Kernel Version 10.8.0: Tue Jun 7 16:33:36 PDT 2011; root:xnu-1504.15.3~1/RELEASE_I386 i386 Thanks to anyone that has a clue about what's going on here:)

  • How to replace openSSL calls with C# code?

    - by fonix232
    Hey there again! Today I ran into a problem when I was making a new theme creator for chrome. As you may know, Chrome uses a "new" file format, called CRX, to manage it's plugins and themes. It is a basic zip file, but a bit modified: "Cr24" + derkey + signature + zipFile And here comes the problem. There are only two CRX creators, written in Ruby or Python. I don't know neither language too much (had some basic experience in Python though, but mostly with PyS60), so I would like to ask you to help me convert this python app to a C# code that doesn't depend on external programs. Also, here is the source of crxmake.py: #!/usr/bin/python # Cribbed from http://github.com/Constellation/crxmake/blob/master/lib/crxmake.rb # and http://src.chromium.org/viewvc/chrome/trunk/src/chrome/tools/extensions/chromium_extension.py?revision=14872&content-type=text/plain&pathrev=14872 # from: http://grack.com/blog/2009/11/09/packing-chrome-extensions-in-python/ import sys from array import * from subprocess import * import os import tempfile def main(argv): arg0,dir,key,output = argv # zip up the directory input = dir + ".zip" if not os.path.exists(input): os.system("cd %(dir)s; zip -r ../%(input)s . -x '.svn/*'" % locals()) else: print "'%s' already exists using it" % input # Sign the zip file with the private key in PEM format signature = Popen(["openssl", "sha1", "-sign", key, input], stdout=PIPE).stdout.read(); # Convert the PEM key to DER (and extract the public form) for inclusion in the CRX header derkey = Popen(["openssl", "rsa", "-pubout", "-inform", "PEM", "-outform", "DER", "-in", key], stdout=PIPE).stdout.read(); out=open(output, "wb"); out.write("Cr24") # Extension file magic number header = array("l"); header.append(2); # Version 2 header.append(len(derkey)); header.append(len(signature)); header.tofile(out); out.write(derkey) out.write(signature) out.write(open(input).read()) os.unlink(input) print "Done." if __name__ == '__main__': main(sys.argv) Please could you help me?

  • How do you invoke a python script inside a jar file using python ?

    - by Trevor
    I'm working on an application that intersperses a bunch of jython and java code. Due to the nature of the program (using wsadmin) we are really restricted to Python 2.1 We currently have a jar containing both java source and .py modules. The code is currently invoked using java, but I'd like to remove this in favor of migrating as much functionality as possible to jython. The problem I have is that I want to either import or execute python modules inside the existing jar file from a calling jython script. I've tried a couple of different ways without success. My directory structure looks like: application.jar |-- com |--example |-- action |-- MyAction.class |-- pre_myAction.py The 1st approach I tried was to do imports from the jar. I added the jar to my sys.path and tried to import the module using both import com.example.action.myAction and import myAction. No success however, even when I put init.py files into the directory at each level. The 2nd approach I tried was to load the resource using the java class. So I wrote the below code: import sys import os import com.example.action.MyAction as MyAction scriptName = str(MyAction.getResource('/com/example/action/myAction.py')) scriptStr = MyAction.getResourceAsStream('/com/example/action/myAction.py') try: print execfile(scriptStr) except: print "failed 1" try: print execfile(scriptName) except: print "failed 2" Both of these failed. I'm at a bit of a loss now as to how I should proceed. Any ideas ? cheers, Trevor

  • Code Golf: Easter Spiral

    - by friol
    What's more appropriate than a Spiral for Easter Code Golf sessions? Well, I guess almost anything. The Challenge The shortest code by character count to display a nice ASCII Spiral made of asterisks ('*'). Input is a single number, R, that will be the x-size of the Spiral. The other dimension (y) is always R-2. The program can assume R to be always odd and = 5. Some examples: Input 7 Output ******* * * * *** * * * * ***** * Input 9 Output ********* * * * ***** * * * * * * *** * * * * * ******* * Input 11 Output *********** * * * ******* * * * * * * * *** * * * * * * * * ***** * * * * * ********* * Code count includes input/output (i.e., full program). Any language is permitted. My easily beatable 303 chars long Python example: import sys; d=int(sys.argv[1]); a=[d*[' '] for i in range(d-2)]; r=[0,-1,0,1]; x=d-1;y=x-2;z=0;pz=d-2;v=2; while d>2: while v>0: while pz>0: a[y][x]='*'; pz-=1; if pz>0: x+=r[z]; y+=r[(z+1)%4]; z=(z+1)%4; pz=d; v-=1; v=2;d-=2;pz=d; for w in a: print ''.join(w); Now, enter the Spiral...

  • record output sound in python

    i want to programatically record sound coming out of my laptop in python. i found PyAudio and came up with the following program that accomplishes the task: import pyaudio, wave, sys chunk = 1024 FORMAT = pyaudio.paInt16 CHANNELS = 1 RATE = 44100 RECORD_SECONDS = 5 WAVE_OUTPUT_FILENAME = sys.argv[1] p = pyaudio.PyAudio() channel_map = (0, 1) stream_info = pyaudio.PaMacCoreStreamInfo( flags = pyaudio.PaMacCoreStreamInfo.paMacCorePlayNice, channel_map = channel_map) stream = p.open(format = FORMAT, rate = RATE, input = True, input_host_api_specific_stream_info = stream_info, channels = CHANNELS) all = [] for i in range(0, RATE / chunk * RECORD_SECONDS): data = stream.read(chunk) all.append(data) stream.close() p.terminate() data = ''.join(all) wf = wave.open(WAVE_OUTPUT_FILENAME, 'wb') wf.setnchannels(CHANNELS) wf.setsampwidth(p.get_sample_size(FORMAT)) wf.setframerate(RATE) wf.writeframes(data) wf.close() the problem is i have to connect the headphone jack to the microphone jack. i tried replacing these lines: input = True, input_host_api_specific_stream_info = stream_info, with these: output = True, output_host_api_specific_stream_info = stream_info, but then i get this error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "./test.py", line 25, in data = stream.read(chunk) File "/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/pyaudio.py", line 562, in read paCanNotReadFromAnOutputOnlyStream) IOError: [Errno Not input stream] -9975 is there a way to instantiate the PyAudio stream so that it inputs from the computer's output and i don't have to connect the headphone jack to the microphone? is there a better way to go about this? i'd prefer to stick w/ a python app and avoid cocoa.

  • Full text index requires dropping and recreating - why?

    - by Amjid Qureshi
    Hi all, So I've got a web app running on .net 3.5 connected to a SQL 2005 box. We do scheduled releases every 2 weeks. About 14 tables out of 250 are full text indexed. After not every release, but a few too many, the indexes crap out. They seem to have data in there, but when we try to search them from the front end or SQL enterprise we get timeouts/hangs. We have a script that disables the indexes, drops them, deletes the catalog and then re creates the indexes. This fixes the problem 99 times out of 100. and the one other time, we run the script again and it all works We have tried just rebuilding the fulltext index but that doesn't fix the issue. My question is why do we have to do this ? what can we do to sort the index out? Here is a bit of the script, IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sys.fulltext_indexes fti WHERE fti.object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[Address]')) ALTER FULLTEXT INDEX ON [dbo].[Address] DISABLE GO IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sys.fulltext_indexes fti WHERE fti.object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[Address]')) DROP FULLTEXT INDEX ON [dbo].[Address] GO IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sysfulltextcatalogs ftc WHERE ftc.name = N'DbName.FullTextCatalog') DROP FULLTEXT CATALOG [DbName.FullTextCatalog] GO -- may need this line if we get an error BACKUP LOG SMS2 WITH TRUNCATE_ONLY CREATE FULLTEXT CATALOG [DbName.FullTextCatalog] ON FILEGROUP [FullTextCatalogs] IN PATH N'F:\Data' AS DEFAULT AUTHORIZATION [dbo] CREATE FULLTEXT INDEX ON [Address](CommonPlace LANGUAGE 'ENGLISH') KEY INDEX PK_Address ON [DbName.FullTextCatalog] WITH CHANGE_TRACKING AUTO go

  • mysql-python stopped working

    - by MAC
    This is a rather dumb question but i'am looking at a bizarre situation. I am running fedora and have python 2.6.5 installed. The other day i installed MySQL-python using yum (because i do not have the setuptools module so i cannot build it from source). Anyway yesterday i wrote my entire data access layer in python and it was running fine, i did test it. Today however it gives me an ImportError: No module named MySQLdb The only thing i ever changed was i installed eclipse and pyDev. Any ideas on what went wrong and how i fix it. I tried removing and re-installing MySql-python but that did not help. I did the following import sys print sys.path And it shows me all the paths which are basically pertaining to /usr/local/lib/python2.6 However i was trying to find where the MySQLdb module is installed and it seems that its installed in /usr/lib/python2.5/sitepackages Now i have no idea why it got installed there and why it was working earlier and why it stopped working now. Any ideas on how i should fix it. I did try copying the site-packages folder over to the python2.6 folder but that did not work Help!!

  • Number of args for stored procedure PLS-00306

    - by Peter Kaleta
    Hi I have problem with calling for my procedure. Oracle scrams PLS-00306 Error: Wrong number of types of arguments in call to procedure. With my type declaration procedure has exact the same declaration like in header below. If I run it as separate procedure it works, when i work in ODCI interface for extensible index creation, it throws PLS-00306. • How to update QStandartItemModel without freezing the main UI

    - by user1044002
    I'm starting to learn PyQt4 and have been stuck on something for a long time now and can't figure it out myself: Here is the concept: There is a TreeView with custom QStandartItemModel, which gets rebuild every couple of seconds, and can have a lot (hundreds at least) of entries, there also will be additional delegates for the different columns etc. It's fairly complex and the building time for even plain model, without delegates, goes up to .3 sec, which makes the TreeView to freeze. Please advice me for the best approach on solving this. I was thing of somehow building the model in different thread, and eventually sending it to the TreeView, where it would just perform setModel() with the new one, but couldn't make that work. here is some code that may illustrate the problem a bit: from PyQt4.QtCore import * from PyQt4.QtGui import * import sys, os, re, time app = QApplication(sys.argv) REFRESH = 1 class Reloader_Thread(QThread): def __init__(self, parent = None): QThread.__init__(self, parent) self.loaders = ['\\', '--', '|', '/', '--'] self.emit(SIGNAL('refresh')) def run(self): format = '|%d/%b/%Y %H:%M:%S| ' while True: self.emit(SIGNAL('refresh')) self.sleep(REFRESH) class Model(QStandardItemModel): def __init__(self, viewer=None): QStandardItemModel.__init__(self,None) self.build() def build(self): stTime = time.clock() newRows = [] for r in range(1000): row = [] for c in range(12): item = QStandardItem('%s %02d%02d' % (time.strftime('%H"%M\'%S'), r,c)) row.append(item) newRows.append(row) eTime = time.clock() - stTime outStr = 'Build %03f' % eTime format = '|%d/%b/%Y %H:%M:%S| ' stTime = time.clock() self.beginRemoveRows(QModelIndex(), 0, self.rowCount()) self.removeRows(0, self.rowCount()) self.endRemoveRows() eTime = time.clock() - stTime outStr += ', Remove %03f' % eTime stTime = time.clock() numNew = len(newRows) for r in range(numNew): self.appendRow(newRows[r]) eTime = time.clock() - stTime outStr += ', Set %03f' % eTime self.emit(SIGNAL('status'), outStr) self.reset() w = QWidget() w.setGeometry(200,200,800,600) hb = QVBoxLayout(w) tv = QTreeView() tvm = Model(tv) tv.setModel(tvm) sb = QStatusBar() reloader = Reloader_Thread() tvm.connect(tvm, SIGNAL('status'), sb.showMessage) reloader.connect(reloader, SIGNAL('refresh'), tvm.build) reloader.start() hb.addWidget(tv) hb.addWidget(sb) w.show() app.setStyle('plastique') app.processEvents(QEventLoop.AllEvents) app.aboutToQuit.connect(reloader.quit) app.exec_()

  • C: lseek() related question.

    - by Andrei Ciobanu
    I want to write some bogus text in a file ("helloworld" text in a file called helloworld), but not starting from the beginning. I was thinking to lseek() function. If I use the following code: #include <unistd.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <sys/stat.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> #define fname "helloworld" #define buf_size 16 int main(){ char buffer[buf_size]; int fildes, nbytes; off_t ret; fildes = open(fname, O_CREAT | O_TRUNC | O_WRONLY, S_IRUSR | S_IWUSR); if(fildes < 0){ printf("\nCannot create file + trunc file.\n"); } //modify offset if((ret = lseek(fildes, (off_t) 10, SEEK_END)) < (off_t) 0){ fprintf(stdout, "\nCannot modify offset.\n"); } printf("ret = %d\n", (int)ret); if(write(fildes, fname, buf_size) < 0){ fprintf(stdout, "\nWrite failed.\n"); } close(fildes); return (0); } , it compiles well and it runs without any apparent errors. Still if i : cat helloworld The output is not what I expected, but: helloworld Can Where is "Can" comming from, and where are my empty spaces ? Should i expect for "zeros" instead of spaces ? If i try to open helloworld with gedit, an error occurs, complaining that the file character encoding is unknown.

  • MySQL-python 1.2.3 and OS X 10.5: 64- or 32-bit?

    - by Dave Everitt
    I've been happily using Django and MySQL in development on an existing machine running OS X 10.4 Tiger, and have set up a similar environment in 10.5 Leopard on a new 64-bit MacBook, with a working MySQL and Python 2.6.4. However, now I want them to communicate, easy_install MySQL-python gave ld warnings that the file is not of the required architecture, which led me to test my Python 2.4.6 install (from the Mac OS X disc image): >>> import sys >>> sys.maxint 2147483647 Ah. So my Python install appears to be 32-bit and (I think?) won't install MySQL-python for my 64-bit MySQL. There are lots of hacks out there for MySQL-python on OS X (mostly 1.2.2), but - after hours of reading - I'm pretty sure they won't fix this architecture mismatch. So I'm stuck because I can't decide whether to: give up, remove the 64-bit MySQL install (thorough methods, please?) and use the 32-bit MySQL disc image instead; re-install Python in 64-bit mode from the tarball, --with-universal archs-64-bit and --enable-universalsdk= as detailed in Python.org's 2.6 news. So my questions for anyone who has encountered this issue are: Is installing 64-bit Python on OS X 10.5 worth bothering with? If so, (naive, lazy question!) how are the two required arguments combined? If I just skip along in 32-bit (as on my working setup) what am I missing? I'm after a hassle-free install that's easy to reproduce on other machines (possible student use) so I'd really welcome your opinions, please!

  • Does HttpListener work well on Mono?

    - by billpg
    Hi everyone. I'm looking to write a small web service to run on a small Linux box. I prefer to code in C#, so I'm looking to use Mono. I don't want the overhead of running a full web server or Mono's version of ASP.NET. I'm thinking of having a single process with a thread dealing with each client connection. Shared memory between threads instead of a database. I've read a little on Microsoft's version of HttpListener and how it works with the Http.sys driver. Alas, Mono's documentation on this class is just the automated class interface with no discussion of how it works under the hood. (Linux doesn't have Http.sys, so I imagine it's implemented substantially differently.) Could anyone point me towards some resources discussing this module please? Many thanks, Bill, billpg.com (A little background to my question for the interested.) Some time ago, I asked this question, interested in keeping a long conversation open with lots of back-and-forth. I had settled on designing my own ad-hoc protocol, but people I spoke to really wanted a REST interface, even at the cost of the "Okay, send your command now" signal. So, I wondered about running ASP.NET on a Linux/Mono server, but stumbled upon HttpListener. This seemed ideal, as each "conversation" could run in a separate thread. The thread that calls HttpListener in a loop can look for which thread each incomming connection is for and pass the reference to that thread. The alternative for an ASP.NET driven service, would be to have the ASPX code pick up the state from a database, and write back the new state when it finishes. Yes, it would work, but that's a lot of overhead.
