    Say I am running a PHP script, foo.php, inside apache configured with mod php, then, say I invoke the script from my browser(or any other means), does apache spawn off a new process in which the script gets executed? How does it work? Can someone pls point me to some good article on this?

  • Issue with org.apache.commons.net.ftp.FTPClient listFiles()

    The listFiles() method of org.apache.commons.net.ftp.FTPClient works fine with Filezilla server on 127.0.0.1 but returns null on the root directory of public FTP servers such as belnet.be. There is an identical question on the link below but enterRemotePassiveMode() doesn't seem to help. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2339855/apache-commons-ftpclient-listfiles Could it be an issue with list parsing? If so, how can go about solving this?

    I have a local server which needs to make changes to a virtual hosts apache config file and then restart apache so the new config takes effect. Can PHP do this? I tried passthru and exec but they didn't work. Maybe the problem is that I'm trying to restart PHP's parent process? Thanks for any help!!

    I want to use SVG Edit for project. This software is distributed under the Apache 2 license. I've seen that: all copies, modified or unmodified, are accompanied by a copy of the licence all modifications are clearly marked as being the work of the modifier all notices of copyright, trademark and patent rights are reproduced accurately in distributed copies the licensee does not use any trademarks that belong to the licensor Do these pertain to the code or should I display the license somewhere in the GUI? The orignal software displays a "powered by SVG Edit", is it ok if I remove this? And most importantly: what is the correct etiquette for doing this? I don't want to be an asshole, but at the same time I want to simplify the UI as much as possible and removing the link will be part of it if it's not considered rude.

    If I wanna authenticate windows accounts to AD when a user browses to an apache-running site on a Linux server, here are the usual suspects:   * mod_ntlm (which I used in a distant past) - last update on 2003 * mod_auth_ntlm_winbind - last update on 04/2007 * mod_auth_kerb - last update on 12/2008 No luck getting any of those to work with a recent, fully patched, windows 2000 AD server.     I have a local test server, and I am attempting to write a file with PHP. I am getting a message that the folder (../uploads/) does not exist or I do not have permission. My directory structure is D:\xampp\htdocs\website\ //<--root D:\xampp\htdocs\website\library //<--where script runs D:\xampp\htdocs\website\uploads //<--where I'd like to save I know on a *nix server, I can just chmod the permission to 0777. What do I need to set on my windows box to give apache the ability to write a file?

    How does one control the application recycle settings for an ASP.NET application runnin on mod_mono & Apache ? On IIS6 & 7 there was an option to specify either a time period, a number of requests, etc. when the AppDomain would be recycled and the application would basically do an Application_End() / Application_Start(). I am seeing the same behaviour on mod_mono & Apache ,but I can't find where to change the settings.

    The Google web crawler has indexed a whole set of URLs with encoded slashes (%2F) for our site. I assume it has picked up the pages from our XML sitemap file. The problem is that the live pages will actually result in a failure because of the Url Encoded Slashes Problem in Apache. Some solutions are mentioned here We are implementing a 301 redirect scheme for all the error pages. This should make the Google bot delete the pages from the crawling errors (no more crashing pages). Does implementing the 301s require the pages to be "live"? In that case we may be forced to implement solution 1 in the article. The problem is that solution 1 will pose a security vulnerability..

Then, to change its default www directory, I ran gksu gedit /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default and, in the editor, changed the location to /media/common/www. After that I ran these commands in a terminal: chmod 777 /media/common/www chmod 777 /media/common/www/*.* After that I ran: firefox 127.0.0.1/index.php It said: Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Apache/2.2.22 (Ubuntu) Server at 127.0.0.1 Port 80 Before my changes it was working fine. How can I run my websites?

    Hello, I have setup an SVN repository for use with Apache 2 via svnadmin create command and appropriate vhost configuration. I found that, in order to correctly use the repository, this must be owned by wwwrun user (or www group) or chmodded to 777. I would like to ask if it's possible to explicitly tell Apache to impersonate another user when serving requests to a certain path (from vhost.conf), like with suphp extension, so I won't mess with permissions once I create a repository.   • How can I diagnose a "502 Bad Gateway" response from an Apache/Tomcat configuration?

    I just finished up configuring a fairly default configuration of Tomcat. My Apache configuration was pre-existing and post-tomcat it still has no issues. I am using mod_jk to (if I am saying this correctly) interface between Apache and Tomcat and have my conf files setup for my workers, etc. I put my test file (Simply: http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-4.1-doc/appdev/sample/web/hello.jsp) into my tomcat/webapps/ directory and then call it via http://localhost/test/hello.jsp. From here Apache returns a "502 Bad Gateway" response. I confirmed this via the Apache logs, but beyond that I have no idea how to diagnose the issue. I assume the 502 is because Tomcat did not respond. I'd like to confirm if Tomcat received the request, but cannot locate the log file. At this point I had thought my installation was complete, so not sure where to go from here. Any input would be appreciated.
