  PostgreSql 9.3 allows us to declare parameter types to match column types, aka Copying Types. Also it allows us to omit the length of VARCHAR fields, without any performance penalty. These two features make PostgreSql a great back end for agile development, because they make PL/PgSql more resilient to changes. Both features are not in SQL Server 2008 R2.   I am using a float positioning system in my game. IE float x,y,z now I want to get the location of the mouse, then to fire an arrow to it. X0 = the players X location X1 = the mouse X location Y0 = the players Y location Y1 = the mouse Y location I want to make a method that the parameters are Degrees and it sets my Yspeed and my Xspeed accordingly to get to the mouse xy starting at player xy How do would I accomplish this?

• Wordpress - Automatic email to admin on password change

  Noticed something interesting in WordPress...hopefully its just me not seeing the right option. Whenever a user requests a new password, it will notify the site admin that the password was changed. What I'd like to do is disable this feature, as for this specific site I really don't care if users are changing their password. Is this a setting somewhere that I'm missing, or does it require a plugin to disable this functionality?

• Hostmonster can't change domains around?

  (question imported from http://superuser.com/q/204439/53847 ) Horrible title, but I couldn't think of a succinct way to summarize it to fit. I have HostMonster for my web hosting. I have several domain names under the same account (using the same web space, IP address, etc...). Every HM account has one domain set up as the "main domain", and all other domains are "secondary". The only way I have ever encountered this being an issue is in trying to use HTTPS - since (from my limited understanding) HTTPS encrypts headers, you can't route HTTPS requests to different virtual hosts on a server - only unencrypted requests, since it must look in the request to know where to route it. When I registered for my account, I only had one domain name (A). I have since added domain names (B), (C), (D), etc... At one point I switched domain name (B) to be my "main" domain name - so I could use HTTPS with it. I have since sold domain name (B), and would like to make domain name (A) my "main" one again (as it was before), but HM support says, "no, once a domain name has been a 'main' domain name on an account once, we can't set it up to be a 'main' domain name again. You're welcome to use domains (C), or (D), though.". They tell me the only way to reuse domain (A) as a "main" domain would be to set up a new account and transfer over all my files. I'm confused here. If I have domains (D), (E), and (F), they say I'm welcome to make one of them my new main domain name, just never (A) again, since I've already "used" it once. Calls to support only reveal that they can't let me do it because doing so would somehow "break" my account. Can anyone think of any good reason why this should be so? The only thing I can think is that maybe they're using the domain names as keys in some database or something? But if that's the case, that's ridiculous - they need to reorganize their databases!

• Gtk theme change doesn't apply to kde apps?

  I changed the systemwide ambiance theme a bit (specifically the scrollbar css), and this works fine in gtk apps, but in kde apps nothing has changed. They still have the vanilla ambiance look. I tried rebooting too. Btw I've disabled overlay scrollbars. I looked at this question: Why don't Qt4 apps in Lubuntu pick up the GTK theme? and tried setting the Gtk+ theme in qtconfig but that didn't help. The look remains the same. Changing the theme in qtconfig to another one, such as QtCurve, does have an effect though.

  I am getting in my inbox on gmail mail from multiple addresses. When I get e-mails in gmail I can choose reply-to address. Is there such a possibility in Evolution? I know that in the advanced settings, you can specify the return address for the account, but how to make sure that there was a list of multiple addresses and be able to choose just one? Or maybe there is a possibility that at once expose the return address for letters?

Or how to refactor the above code (or skip using singleton) so I can customize the log file path? (Assume I don't need to write to multiple at the same time) p.s. I know I can use library e.g. log4j, but consider it is just a design question, how to refactor the code above?

• Sql Server XML-type column duplicate entry detection

  In Sql Server I am using an XML type column to store a message. I do not want to store duplicate messages. I only will have a few messages per user. I am currently querying the table for these messages, converting the XML to string in my C# code. I then compare the strings with what I am about to insert. Unfortunately, Sql Server pretty-prints the data in the XML typed fields. What you store into the database is not necessarily exactly the same string as what you get back out later. It is functionally equivalent, but may have white space removed, etc. Is there an efficient way to compare an XML string that I am considering inserting with those that are already in the database? As an aside, if I detect a duplicate I need to delete the older message then insert the replacement.

• Console App Mouse-Click X Y Coordinate Detection/Comparison

  I have a game that I am working on in a C# console application, purely as practice before going on to better methods. As opposed to using something such as a Windows Forms App, which has button functionality built in, I am endeavoring to grab the cursor position (which I know how to do) and compare it to a number of area's inside a console application as defined by perhaps pixel location, but I also do not know if there is some sort of built in unit of space other than pixels (this last bit is the part I am unable to figure). P.S. I know this is in general terms, with no code already provided, but I do not feel that it is needed as all I am asking for is a brief explanation of how to grab X Y coordinates inside a console application, and stick them in int variables.   I started my Career as core-Java developer 6 years ago and stayed as developer for 6-7 month and then moved to performance testing (actualy pushed into this for short term and later I started liking it). I have done all sort of non-functional testing like performance, load, stress, soak, compatibility, failover etc on many performance test tools accross many industries. I was doing contracting all these years which means I kept moving to new projects after every 3-6 months. Now personal situation has been changed, married man now so looking for something long term. Performance testing generally comes at the end of the development life cycle hence very short term contracts so I was wondering if I can move into functional/test automation side I can earn myself good length of contract. I had some exposure of QTP but I am sure to learn all other tools very quickly as I am quite good in programming and concept of testing. in short I want to move into functional test automation to get long term contract without leaving my love for programming . any thoughts please ?

• Change the output of the facebook like button [migrated]

  I've tied in the code for the facebook like button from the facebook dev site (I currently use the iframe version) directly into the html of a node (or content post). I want to be able to manipulate what text is sent when someone hits the like button. you can see the site and buttons here www.masteringmoneybasics.org I've tried both the iframe and html5 versions of the button and can't see where to alter what is sent. If there is no way to directly alter what is sent, does anyone know what it looks for in content to be sent so I can structure the node correctly? If you notice, when you like the page, it doesn't get the first sentence of the content, but all content after it, and I've tried putting different content in between the two lines (in its own <p>) and it still grabs the latter. Also how it figures out which image to grab from the page? Most times it doesn't take any image, however twice it's grabbed the middle school image.

• Ubuntu 13.10 change first weekday to Monday in calendar applet

  Before the update (I was using 13.04), editing: sudo gedit /etc/default/locale so that LC_TIME="en_GB.UTF-8" does the job. However in 13.10, this does not work anymore. I've tried editing: sudo gedit /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_AU sudo gedit /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_GB sudo gedit /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_US so that first_weekday 2 in each of the files, but this also does not work. As a reference, when I run locale, the output is LANG=en_AU.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=en_AU:en LC_CTYPE="en_AU.UTF-8" LC_NUMERIC=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_TIME=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_COLLATE="en_AU.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_MESSAGES="en_AU.UTF-8" LC_PAPER=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_NAME=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_ADDRESS=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_TELEPHONE=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_MEASUREMENT=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_ALL= Please help.

  The title of my question seems simple but here is an example of what I want to do: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/infant-jaundice/DS00107 What happens on that page is whenever you click on a link to go a section (e.g. "Symptoms") in the article on "Infant Jaundice", it provides a URL parameter like this: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/infant-jaundice/DS00107/DSECTION=symptoms As the DESCTION parameter changes, you get different content on the same page DS00107. The content changes as well as <meta keywords>. Can someone please tell me how this is achieved? I was thinking it was an if/else situation programmed into the page itself to display different properties depending on the URL parameter. Any help or suggestions are very much appreciated and my thanks to you for reading my question.

• Rythmbox library set to: multiple locations and no way to edit/change

  I previously set Rhythmbox to include a few different locations. Now following changes to my directory structure, I'd like to reflect these changes in Rhythmbox. But when I go to "Library Location", I see "Multiple locations Set" and I can only add to the list; no way to edit/remove. I Googled this problem and the only relevant results I get date back to 2006, probably referring to a previous version of Rhythmbox and specifying components/locations that I can't find on my system. To update the Sharepoint User LoginName we can run the following stsadm command on the Server: STSADM –o migrateuser –oldlogin MYDOMAIN\eholz –newlogin MYDOMAIN\eburrell –ignoresidhistory However to update the Sharepoint 2010 UserProfile, i first tried running a Incremental/Full Synchronization using the User Profile Synchronization service… this did not work. To enable me to update the AccountName field (which is a read only field) of the UserProfile, I had to first delete the User Profile for MYDOMAIN\eholz and then run a FULL Synchronization using the User Profile Synchronization service which synchronizes the Sharepoint User Profiles with the AD profiles. Update: if you just run the STSADM –o migrateuser command… the profile also gets updated automatically. so all you need is to run the stsadm –o migrate user command and you dont need to delete and recreate the User Profile
