  • C socket and openssl (RSA)

    - by giozh
    there's something strange in my client/server socket using RSA. If i test it on localhost, everithing goes fine, but if i put client on a pc and server on othe pc, something gone wrong. Client after call connect, call a method for public keys exchange with server. This part of code works fine. After this, client send a request to server: strcpy(send_pack->op, "help\n"); RSA_public_encrypt(strlen(send_pack->op), send_pack->op, encrypted_send->op, rsa_server, padding); rw_value = write(server, encrypted_send, sizeof (encrypted_pack)); if (rw_value == -1) { stampa_errore(write_error); close(server); exit(1); } if (rw_value == 0) { stampa_errore(no_response); close(server); exit(1); } printf("---Help send, waiting for response\n"); set_alarm(); rw_value = read(server, encrypted_receive, sizeof (encrypted_pack)); alarm(0); if (rw_value == -1) { stampa_errore(read_error); exit(1); } if (rw_value == 0) { stampa_errore(no_response); close(server); exit(1); } RSA_private_decrypt(RSA_size(rsa), encrypted_receive->message, receive_pack->message, rsa, padding); printf("%s\n", receive_pack->message); return; } but when server try to decrypt the receive message on server side, the "help" string doesn't appear. This happen only on the net, on localhost the same code works fine... EDIT: typedef struct pack1 { unsigned char user[encrypted_size]; unsigned char password[encrypted_size]; unsigned char op[encrypted_size]; unsigned char obj[encrypted_size]; unsigned char message[encrypted_size]; int id; }encrypted_pack; encrypted_size is 512, and padding used is RSA_PKCS1_PADDING

  • Memory alignment in C

    - by user1758245
    Here is a snippet: #pragma pack(4) struct s1 { char a; long b; }; #pragma pack() #pragma pack(2) struct s2 { char c; struct s1 st1; }; #pragma pack() #pragma pack(2) struct s3 { char a; long b; }; #pragma pack() #pragma pack(4) struct s4 { char c; struct s3 st3; }; #pragma pack() I though sizeof(s4) should be 10 or 12. But it turns out to be 8. I am using Visual C++ 6.0. Could someone tell me why?

  • how to use string in va_start?

    - by Newbie
    for some reason, i cant get this working: void examplefunctionname(string str, ...){ ... va_start(ap, str.c_str()); nor do i get this work: void examplefunctionname(string str, ...){ ... int len = str.length(); char *strlol = new char[len+1]; for(int i = 0; i < len; i++){ strlol[i] = str[i]; } strlol[len] = 0; va_start(ap, strlol); but this does: void examplefunctionname(const char *str, ...){ ... va_start(ap, str); could someone show me how i can use string instead of const char * there? its outputting random numbers when i call examplefunctionname("%d %d %d", 1337, 1337, 1337)

  • C - How to manipulate typedef structure pointer?

    - by AbhishekJoshi
    typedef struct { int id; char* first; char* last; }* person; person* people; Hi. How can I use this above, all set globally, to fill people with different "person"s? I am having issues wrapping my head regarding the typedef struct pointer. I am aware pointers are like arrays, but I'm having issues getting this all together... I would like to keep the above code as is as well. Edit 1: char first should be char* first.

  • Synergy 1.5 crash (OSX 10.6.8)

    - by Oliver
    THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS I recently installed Synergy 1.5 r2278 (for Mac OSX 10.6.8) and was using it fine for most of the day, then it decided to stop working (the only thing I changed systemwise was the screensaver - and then after it started crashing disabled it - to see if it would resolve). When I start Synergy (on the Mac - Client) it says: after about 5 seconds (and successfully connecting to the Server) "synergyc quit unexpectedly" Here is the crash log (w/ binery info removed - too long for post requirements) Process: synergyc [1026] Path: /Applications/Synergy.app/Contents/MacOS/synergyc Identifier: synergy Version: ??? • Why Doesn’t Partition Elimination Work?

    Given a partitioned table and a simple SELECT query that compares the partitioning column to a single literal value, why does SQL Server read all the partitions when it seems obvious that only one partition needs to be examined? • GLM Velocity Vectors - Basic Maths to Simulate Steering

    - by Reanimation
    UPDATE - Code updated below but still need help adjusting my math. I have a cube rendered on the screen which represents a car (or similar). Using Projection/Model matrices and Glm I am able to move it back and fourth along the axes and rotate it left or right. I'm having trouble with the vector mathematics to make the cube move forwards no matter which direction it's current orientation is. (ie. if I would like, if it's rotated right 30degrees, when it's move forwards, it travels along the 30degree angle on a new axes). I hope I've explained that correctly. This is what I've managed to do so far in terms of using glm to move the cube: glm::vec3 vel; //velocity vector void renderMovingCube(){ glUseProgram(movingCubeShader.handle()); GLuint matrixLoc4MovingCube = glGetUniformLocation(movingCubeShader.handle(), "ProjectionMatrix"); glUniformMatrix4fv(matrixLoc4MovingCube, 1, GL_FALSE, &ProjectionMatrix[0][0]); glm::mat4 viewMatrixMovingCube; viewMatrixMovingCube = glm::lookAt(camOrigin, camLookingAt, camNormalXYZ); vel.x = cos(rotX); vel.y=sin(rotX); vel*=moveCube; //move cube ModelViewMatrix = glm::translate(viewMatrixMovingCube,globalPos*vel); //bring ground and cube to bottom of screen ModelViewMatrix = glm::translate(ModelViewMatrix, glm::vec3(0,-48,0)); ModelViewMatrix = glm::rotate(ModelViewMatrix, rotX, glm::vec3(0,1,0)); //manually turn glUniformMatrix4fv(glGetUniformLocation(movingCubeShader.handle(), "ModelViewMatrix"), 1, GL_FALSE, &ModelViewMatrix[0][0]); //pass matrix to shader movingCube.render(); //draw glUseProgram(0); } keyboard input: void keyboard() { char BACKWARD = keys['S']; char FORWARD = keys['W']; char ROT_LEFT = keys['A']; char ROT_RIGHT = keys['D']; if (FORWARD) //W - move forwards { globalPos += vel; //globalPos.z -= moveCube; BACKWARD = false; } if (BACKWARD)//S - move backwards { globalPos.z += moveCube; FORWARD = false; } if (ROT_LEFT)//A - turn left { rotX +=0.01f; ROT_LEFT = false; } if (ROT_RIGHT)//D - turn right { rotX -=0.01f; ROT_RIGHT = false; } Where am I going wrong with my vectors? I would like change the direction of the cube (which it does) but then move forwards in that direction.

  • Image loaded from TGA texture isn't displayed correctly

    - by Ramy Al Zuhouri
    I have a TGA texture containing this image: The texture is 256x256. So I'm trying to load it and map it to a cube: #import <OpenGL/OpenGL.h> #import <GLUT/GLUT.h> #import <stdlib.h> #import <stdio.h> #import <assert.h> GLuint width=640, height=480; GLuint texture; const char* const filename= "/Users/ramy/Documents/C/OpenGL/Test/Test/texture.tga"; void init() { // Initialization glEnable(GL_DEPTH_TEST); glViewport(-500, -500, 1000, 1000); glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION); glLoadIdentity(); gluPerspective(45, width/(float)height, 1, 1000); glMatrixMode(GL_MODELVIEW); glLoadIdentity(); gluLookAt(0, 0, -100, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0); // Texture char bitmap[256][256][3]; FILE* fp=fopen(filename, "r"); assert(fp); assert(fread(bitmap, 3*sizeof(char), 256*256, fp) == 256*256); fclose(fp); glGenTextures(1, &texture); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D, texture); glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MAG_FILTER, GL_LINEAR); glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER, GL_LINEAR); glTexImage2D(GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, GL_RGB, 256, 256, 0, GL_RGB, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, bitmap); } void display() { glClearColor(0, 0, 0, 0); glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT | GL_DEPTH_BUFFER_BIT); glEnable(GL_TEXTURE_2D); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D, texture); glColor3ub(255, 255, 255); glBegin(GL_QUADS); glVertex3f(0, 0, 0); glTexCoord2f(0.0, 0.0); glVertex3f(40, 0, 0); glTexCoord2f(0.0, 1.0); glVertex3f(40, 40, 0); glTexCoord2f(1.0, 1.0); glVertex3f(0, 40, 0); glTexCoord2f(1.0, 0.0); glEnd(); glDisable(GL_TEXTURE_2D); glutSwapBuffers(); } int main(int argc, char** argv) { glutInit(&argc, argv); glutInitDisplayMode(GLUT_RGB | GLUT_DEPTH | GLUT_DOUBLE); glutInitWindowPosition(100, 100); glutInitWindowSize(width, height); glutCreateWindow(argv[0]); glutDisplayFunc(display); init(); glutMainLoop(); return 0; } But this is what I get when the window loads: So just half of the image is correctly displayed, and also with different colors.Then if I resize the window I get this: Magically the image seems to fix itself, even if the colors are wrong.Why?

  • C Minishell Command Expansion Printing Gibberish

    - by Optimus_Pwn
    I'm writing a unix minishell in C, and am at the point where I'm adding command expansion. What I mean by this is that I can nest commands in other commands, for example: $> echo hello $(echo world! ... $(echo and stuff)) hello world! ... and stuff I think I have it working mostly, however it isn't marking the end of the expanded string correctly, for example if I do: $> echo a $(echo b $(echo c)) a b c $> echo d $(echo e) d e c See it prints the c, even though I didn't ask it to. Here is my code: msh.c - http://pastebin.com/sd6DZYwB expand.c - http://pastebin.com/uLqvFGPw I have a more code, but there's a lot of it, and these are the parts that I'm having trouble with at the moment. I'll try to tell you the basic way I'm doing this. Main is in msh.c, here it gets a line of input from either the commandline or a shellfile, and then calls processline (char *line, int outFD, int waitFlag), where line is the line we just got, outFD is the file descriptor of the output file, and waitFlag tells us whether or not we should wait if we fork. When we call this from main we do it like this: processline (buffer, 1, 1); In processline, we allocate a new line: char expanded_line[EXPANDEDLEN]; We then call expand, in expand.c: expand(line, expanded_line, EXPANDEDLEN); In expand, we copy the characters literally from line to expanded_line until we find a $(, which then calls: static int expCmdOutput(char *orig, char *new, int *oldl_ind, int *newl_ind) orig is line, and new is expanded line. oldl_ind and newl_ind are the current positions in the line and expanded line, respectively. Then we pipe, and recursively call processline, passing it the nested command(for example, if we had "echo a $(echo b)", we would pass processline "echo b"). This is where I get confused, each time expand is called, is it allocating a new chunk of memory EXPANDEDLEN long? If so, this is bad because I'll run out of stack room really quickly(in the case of a hugely nested commandline input). In expand I insert a null character at the end of the expanded string, so why is it printing past it? If you guys need any more code, or explanations, just ask. Secondly, I put the code in pastebin because there's a ton of it, and in my experience people don't like it when I fill up several pages with code. Thanks.

  • Shakespeare and storing Unicode characters

    - by John Paul Cook
    This post is about the political issues involved with using multiple languages in a global organization and how to troubleshoot the technical details. The CHAR and VARCHAR data types are NOT suitable for global data. Some people still cling to CHAR and VARCHAR justifying their use by truthfully saying that they only take up half the space of NCHAR and NVARCHAR data types. But you’ll never be able to store Chinese, Korean, Greek, Japanese, Arabic, or many other languages unless you use NCHAR and NVARCHAR...(read more)

  • How to write comments to explain the "why" behind the callback function when the function and parameter names are insufficient for that?

    - by snowmantw
    How should I approach writing comments for callback functions? I want to explain the "why" behind the function when the function and parameter names are insufficient to explain what's going on. I have always wonder why comments like this can be so ordinary in documents of libraries in dynamic languages: /** * cb: callback // where's the arguments & effects? */ func foo( cb ) Maybe the common attitude is "you can look into source code on your own after all" which pushes people into leaving minimalist comments like this. But it seems like there should be a better way to comment callback functions. I've tried to comment callbacks in Haskell way: /** * cb: Int -> Char */ func foo(cb) And to be fair, it's usually neat enough. But it gets into trouble when I need to pass some complex structure. The problem being partly due to the lack of type system: /** * cb: Int -> { err: String -> (), success: () -> Char } // too long... */ func foo(cb) Or I have tried this too: /** * cb: Int -> { err: String -> (), * success: () -> Char } // better ? */ func bar(cb) The problem is that you may put the structure in somewhere else, but you must give it a name to reference it. But then when you name a structure you're about to use immediately looks so redundant: // Somewhere else... // ResultCallback: { err: String -> (), success: () -> Char } /** * cb: Int -> ResultCallback // better ?? */ func foo(cb) And it bothers me if I follow the Java-doc like commenting style since it still seems incomplete. The comments don't tell you anything that you couldn't immediately see from looking at the function. /** * @param cb {Function} yeah, it's a function, but you told me nothing about it... * @param err {Function} where should I put this callback's argument ?? * Not to mention the err's own arguments... */ func foo(cb) These examples are JavaScript like with generic functions and parameter names, but I've encountered similar problems in other dynamic languages which allow complex callbacks.

  • How to read cell data in excel and output to command prompt

    - by Max Ollerenshaw
    Hi All, I'm a sys admin and I am trying to learn how to use powershell... I have never done any type of scripting or coding before and I have been teaching myself online by learning from the technet script centre and online forums. What I am trying to accomplish is to open an excel spreadsheet get information from it (usernames and password) and then output it into the command prompt in powershell. When ever I try to do this I get an Exception calling "InvokeMember" anyway, here is the code I have so far: function Invoke([object]$m, [string]$method, $parameters) { $m.PSBase.GetType().InvokeMember( $method, [Reflection.BindingFlags]::InvokeMethod, $null, $m, $parameters,$ciUS ) } $ciUS = [System.Globalization.CultureInfo]'en-US' $objExcel = New-Object -comobject Excel.Application $objExcel.Visible = $False $objExcel.DisplayAlerts = $False $objWorkbook = Invoke $objExcel.Workbooks.Open "C:\PS\User Data.xls" Write-Host "Numer of worksheets: " $objWorkbook.Sheets.Count $objWorksheet = $objWorkbook.Worksheets.Item(1) Write-Host "Worksheet: " $objWorksheet.Name $Forename = $objWorksheet.Cells.Item(2,1).Text $Surname = $objWorksheet.Cells.Item(2,2).Text Write-Host "Forename: " $Forename Write-Host "Surname: " $Surname $objExcel.Quit() If (ps excel) { kill -name excel} I have read many different posts on forums and articles on how to try and get around the en-US problem but I cannot seem to get around it and hope that someone here can help! Here is the Exeption problem I mentioned: Exception calling "InvokeMember" with "6" argument(s): "Method 'System.Management.Automation.PSMethod.C:\PS\User Data.x ls' not found." At C:\PS\excel.ps1:3 char:33 + $m.PSBase.GetType().InvokeMember <<<< ( + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [], MethodInvocationException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : DotNetMethodException Numer of worksheets: You cannot call a method on a null-valued expression. • Problems Allocating Objects of Derived Class Where Base Class has Abstract Virtual Functions

    - by user1743901
    I am trying to get this Zombie/Human agent based simulation running, but I am having problems with these derived classes (Human and Zombie) who have parent class "Creature". I have 3 virtual functions declared in "Creature" and all three of these are re-declared AND DEFINED in both "Human" and "Zombie". But for some reason when I have my program call "new" to allocate memory for objects of type Human or Zombie, it complains about the virtual functions being abstract. Here's the code: definitions.h #ifndef definitions_h #define definitions_h class Creature; class Item; class Coords; class Grid { public: Creature*** cboard; Item*** iboard; int WIDTH; int HEIGHT; Grid(int WIDTHVALUE, int HEIGHTVALUE); void FillGrid(); //initializes grid object with humans and zombies void Refresh(); //calls Creature::Die(),Move(),Attack(),Breed() on every square void UpdateBuffer(char** buffer); bool isEmpty(int startx, int starty, int dir); char CreatureType(int xcoord, int ycoord); char CreatureType(int startx, int starty, int dir); }; class Random { public: int* rptr; void Print(); Random(int MIN, int MAX, int LEN); ~Random(); private: bool alreadyused(int checkthis, int len, int* rptr); bool isClean(); int len; }; class Coords { public: int x; int y; int MaxX; int MaxY; Coords() {x=0; y=0; MaxX=0; MaxY=0;} Coords(int X, int Y, int WIDTH, int HEIGHT) {x=X; y=Y; MaxX=WIDTH; MaxY=HEIGHT; } void MoveRight(); void MoveLeft(); void MoveUp(); void MoveDown(); void MoveUpRight(); void MoveUpLeft(); void MoveDownRight(); void MoveDownLeft(); void MoveDir(int dir); void setx(int X) {x=X;} void sety(int Y) {y=Y;} }; class Creature { public: bool alive; Coords Location; char displayletter; Creature() {Location.x=0; Location.y=0;} Creature(int i, int j) {Location.setx(i); Location.sety(j);} virtual void Attack() =0; virtual void AttackCreature(Grid G, int attackdirection) =0; virtual void Breed() =0; void Die(); void Move(Grid G); int DecideSquare(Grid G); void MoveTo(Grid G, int dir); }; class Human : public Creature { public: bool armed; //if armed, chances of winning fight increased for next fight bool vaccinated; //if vaccinated, no chance of getting infected int bitecount; //if a human is bitten, bite count is set to a random number int breedcount; //if a human goes x steps without combat, will breed if next to a human int starvecount; //if a human does not eat in x steps, will die Human() {displayletter='H';} Human(int i, int j) {displayletter='H';} void Attack(Grid G); void AttackCreature(Grid G, int attackdirection); void Breed(Grid G); //will breed after x steps and next to human int DecideAttack(Grid G); }; class Zombie : public Creature { public: Zombie() {displayletter='Z';} Zombie(int i, int j) {displayletter='Z';} void Attack(Grid G); void AttackCreature(Grid G, int attackdirection); void Breed() {} //does nothing int DecideAttack(Grid G); void AttackCreature(Grid G, int attackdirection); }; class Item { }; #endif definitions.cpp #include <cstdlib> #include "definitions.h" Random::Random(int MIN, int MAX, int LEN) //constructor { len=LEN; rptr=new int[LEN]; //allocate array of given length for (int i=0; i<LEN; i++) { int random; do { random = rand() % (MAX-MIN+1) + MIN; } while (alreadyused(random,LEN,rptr)); rptr[i]=random; } } bool Random::alreadyused(int checkthis, int len, int* rptr) { for (int i=0; i<len; i++) { if (rptr[i]==checkthis) return 1; } return 0; } Random::~Random() { delete rptr; } Grid::Grid(int WIDTHVALUE, int HEIGHTVALUE) { WIDTH = WIDTHVALUE; HEIGHT = HEIGHTVALUE; //builds 2d array of creature pointers cboard = new Creature**[WIDTH]; for(int i=0; i<WIDTH; i++) { cboard[i] = new Creature*[HEIGHT]; } //builds 2d array of item pointers iboard = new Item**[WIDTH]; for (int i=0; i<WIDTH; i++) { iboard[i] = new Item*[HEIGHT]; } } void Grid::FillGrid() { /* For each creature pointer in grid, randomly selects whether to initalize as zombie, human, or empty square.     For a class assignment, I have to use two stacks in C++ to make an equation to be converted to its left to right equivalent: 2+4*(3+4*8) -- 35*4+2 -- 142 Here is the main code: #include <iostream> #include <cstring> #include "ctStack.h" using namespace std; int main (int argc, char * const argv[]) { string expression = "2+4*2"; ctstack *output = new ctstack(expression.length()); ctstack *stack = new ctstack(expression.length()); bool previousIsANum = false; for(int i = 0; i < expression.length(); i++){ switch (expression[i]){ case '(': previousIsANum = false; stack->cmstackPush(expression[i]); break; case ')': previousIsANum = false; char x; while (x != '('){ stack->cmstackPop(x); output->cmstackPush(x); } break; case '0': case '1': case '2': case '3': case '4': case '5': case '6': case '7': case '8': case '9': cout << "A number" << endl; previousIsANum = true; output->cmstackPush(expression[i]); break; case '+': previousIsANum = false; cout << "+" << endl; break; case '-': previousIsANum = false; cout << "-" << endl; break; case '*': previousIsANum = false; cout << "*" << endl; break; case '/': previousIsANum = false; cout << "/" << endl; break; default: break; } } char i = ' '; while (stack->ltopOfStack > 0){ stack->cmstackPop(i); output->cmstackPush(i); cout << i << endl; } return 0; } Here is the stack code (watch out!): #include <cstdio> #include <assert.h> #include <new.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <iostream> class ctstack { private: long* lpstack ; // the stack itself long ltrue ; // constructor sets to 1 long lfalse ; // constructor sets to 0 // offset to top of the stack long lmaxEleInStack ; // maximum possible elements of stack public: long ltopOfStack ; ctstack ( long lnbrOfEleToAllocInStack ) { // Constructor lfalse = 0 ; // set to zero ltrue = 1 ; // set to one assert ( lnbrOfEleToAllocInStack > 0 ) ; // assure positive argument ltopOfStack = -1 ; // ltopOfStack is really an index lmaxEleInStack = lnbrOfEleToAllocInStack ; // set lmaxEleInStack to max ele lpstack = new long [ lmaxEleInStack ] ; // allocate stack assert ( lpstack ) ; // assure new succeeded } ~ctstack ( ) { // Destructor delete [ ] lpstack ; // Delete the stack itself } ctstack& operator= ( const ctstack& ctoriginStack) { // Assignment if ( this == &ctoriginStack ) // verify x not assigned to x return *this ; if ( this -> lmaxEleInStack < ctoriginStack . lmaxEleInStack ) { // if destination stack is smaller than delete [ ] this -> lpstack ; // original stack, delete dest and alloc this -> lpstack = // sufficient memory new long [ ctoriginStack . lmaxEleInStack ] ; assert ( this -> lpstack ) ; // assure new succeeded // reset stack size attribute this -> lmaxEleInStack = ctoriginStack . lmaxEleInStack ; } // copy original to destination stack for ( long i = 0 ; i < ctoriginStack . lmaxEleInStack ; i ++ ) *( this -> lpstack + i ) = *( ctoriginStack . lpstack + i ) ; this -> ltopOfStack = ctoriginStack . ltopOfStack ; // reset stack position attribute return *this ; } long cmstackPush (char lplaceInStack ) { // Push Method if ( ltopOfStack == lmaxEleInStack - 1 ) // stack is full can't add element return lfalse ; ltopOfStack ++ ; // acquire free slot *(lpstack + ltopOfStack ) = lplaceInStack ; // add element return ltrue ; // any number other than zero is true } long cmstackPop (char& lretrievedStackEle ) { // Pop Method if ( ltopOfStack < 0 ) { // stack has no elements lretrievedStackEle = -1 ; // dummy element return lfalse ; } lretrievedStackEle = *( lpstack + ltopOfStack ) ; // stack has element -- return it ltopOfStack -- ; // stack is pop'd return ltrue ; // any number other than zero is true } long cmstackLookAtTop (char& lretrievedStackEle ) { // Pop Method if ( ltopOfStack < 0 ) { // stack has no elements lretrievedStackEle = -1 ; // dummy element return lfalse ; } lretrievedStackEle = *( lpstack + ltopOfStack ) ; // stack has element -- return it return ltrue ; // any number other than zero is true } long cmstackHasAnEle (char& lretrievedTopOfStack ) { // Has element method lretrievedTopOfStack = ltopOfStack ; return ltopOfStack < 0 ? lfalse : ltrue ; // 0 - false stack does not have any ele } // 1 - true stack has at least one element long cmstackMaxNbrOfEle (char& lretrievedMaxStackEle ) { // Maximum element method lretrievedMaxStackEle = lmaxEleInStack ; // return stack size in reference var return ltrue ; // Return Maximum Size of Stack } } ; Thanks, Anthony.

  • ANSI C blackjack assignment, linux GCC compiler, i'm stuck...

    Here's what i have so far... I have yet to figure out how i'm going to handle the 11 / 1 situation with an ace, and when the player chooses an option for hit/stand, i get segfault.
