  Is there a way I can limit the width of a textbox to be equal to the MaxLength property? In my case right now, the textbox control is placed in a table cell as in this snippet: <td class=TDSmallerBold style="width:90%"> <asp:textbox id="txtTitle" runat="server" CausesValidation="true" Text="Type a title here..be concise but descriptive.   Hi, I'm working on a sudoko solver. my method is using a game tree and explore possible permutations for each set of digits by DFS Algorithm. in order to analyzing problem, i want to know what is the count of possible valid and invalid sudoko tables? - a 9*9 table that have 9 one, 9 two, ... , 9 nine. (this isn't exact duplicate by this question) my solution is: 1- First select 9 cells for 1s: (*) 2- and like (1) for other digits (each time, 9 cells will be deleted from remaining available cells): C(81-9,9) , C(81-9*2,9) .... = 3- finally multiply the result by 9! (permutation of 123456789 in (*)) this is not equal to accepted answer of this question but problems are equivalent. what did i do wrong?

• Can "\Device\NamedPipe\\Win32Pipes" handles cause "Too many open files" error?

  Continuing from this question: When I am trying to do fopen on Windows, I get a "Too many open files" error. I tried to analyze, how many open files I have, and seems like not too much. But when I executed Process Explorer, I noticed that I have many open handles with similar names: "\Device\NamedPipe\Win32Pipes.00000590.000000e2", "\Device\NamedPipe\Win32Pipes.00000590.000000e3", etc. I see that the number of these handles is exactly equal to the number of the iterations that my program executed, before it returned "Too many open files" and stopped. I am looking for an answer, what are these handles, and could they actually cause the "Too many open files" error? In my program I am loading files from remote drive, and I am creating TCP/IP connections. Could one of these operations create these handles?

• How to use a different path name in ProxyPass than the Tomcat context name

  Hello, I am using Tomcat 5.5.9 and Apache 2.x We are trying to use a path name in ProxyPass that is different than the Tomcat context name. ProxyPass /path http://localhost:8080/contextname However, this does not work. When these two are the same then everything works fine. Most examples I see on the net also have the path equal to the Tomcat context name. I am using "context.xml" within the Tomcat context and do NOT have "server.xml" entries. Also, I am using plain httd.conf and NOT using any VirtualHost entries. Any help is appreciated. Regards, Diptenu

  I am trying to figure out how to grab a value from Expression.Blend.SampleData. If my id is equal to a drop down for example, I can grab it by doing this: ((Expression.Blend.SampleData.MyDatabase.something)(MyDropDown.SelectedItem)).description; I need some way to place my own value where (MyDropDown.SelectedItem) is. Visual studio wants me to convert it a "Expression.Blend.SampleData.MyDatabase.something" format. I have tried a few ways to do this but I have been unsuccessful. Any Ideas? EDIT I am starting to think there is no way in Silverlight to do this

One approach is to insert the entity, then get the aId generated by the DB (2nd query) and then update the entity, setting the bId to be equal to aId (3rd query). Is there a way to get the bId to get the same generated value as aId? Note that afterwards, I want to be able to update bId from my gui. If the solution is JPA, even better.

  I've been trying to come up with something for a while now to no avail. My MySQL knowledge is rudimentary at best so I could use some guidance on what I should use for the following: I have 2 tables ('bible' and 'books') that I need to search from. Right now I am just searching 'bible' with the following query: SELECT * FROM bible WHERE text LIKE '%" . $query . "%' ORDER BY likes DESC LIMIT $start, 10 Now, I need to add another part that searches for some pretty advanced stuff. Here is what I want to do in pseudocode which I am aware doesn't work: SELECT * FROM bible WHERE books.book+' '+bible.chapter+':'+bible.verse = '$query' $query would equal something like Genesis 1:2, Genesis coming from books.book, 1 coming from bible.chapter and 2 coming from bible.verse Any help/guidance on this is much appreciated =)

  I have a variable called "account_type" passed from a rails form and need to access the value in the corresponding model. I can check if :account_type exists as a symbol, but where does the stored data come into play? Is there something I need to do in the controller? This code gives an undefined method 'account_type' error. validates_format_of :name, :with => /^[a-z0-9_]+$/i, :on => :create if account_type == 2 If I use a symbol then it doesn't give an error, but a symbol will never equal 2 validates_format_of :name, :with => /^[a-z0-9_]+$/i, :on => :create if :account_type == 2 It's confusing that you can validate the format of a symbol (like :name above) when :name only seems to be a reference with nothing stored in it. • Check if there are any repeated elements in a array recursively

  I have to find recursively if there is any repeated element in an integer array v. The method must have the following signature: boolean hasRepeatedElements(int[] v) I can't see any way of doing that recursively without having to define another method or at least another overload to this method (one that takes for example the element to go after or something). At first I thought about checking for the current v if there is some element equal to the first element, then creating a new array with L-1 elements etc but that seems rather inefficient. Is it the only way? Am I missing here something?

  I notice that this method is provided in UIViewController .m files, but is commented out: - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil I had been leaving that method commented out, or even deleting it. But then I looked at this line inside the method: if (self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil]) I assume that if it were truly important for self to be set equal to super, then Apple would not have the method be commented out by default. On the other hand, if I do need to do some customization in that method, why do I need to set self = super? What's the best practice, and why?

Here's my sample dataframe named 'b' Winner Color Size Tom Yellow Med Jerry Yellow Lar Jane Blue Med where items in the Winner column are factors. I'm trying to change "Tom" in the dataframe to "Tom LLC" and I can't get it done. Here's what I tried: Simple way: b$winner[b$winner=='Tom'] = as.factor('Tom LLC') but that failed with "invalid factor level, NAs generated" Next I tried a more advanced route: name_reset = function (x, y, z) { if (x$winner == y) {x$winner = z} } b = adply(b,1,name_reset,'Tom','Tom LLC') but that failed with "Error in list_to_dataframe(res, attr(.data, "split_labels")) : Results are not equal lengths" I feel I'm missing something basic. • Program seems to get stuck ?

  I have a Java program, I did some change and the strange thing is no matter what I do now, it will output the same result before my change, I looked into my system (Windows Vista), and clicked on "Generate a system health report", the result says : Symptom : A service is reported as having an unexpected error code Cause : One or more services has failed. The service did not stop gracefully, suggesting the service may have crashed or one of its components stopped in an unsupported way. Details : Service exited with code not equal to 0 or 1077 Resolution : Restart the service It doesn't say which service, and I defragmented my drives a few times, it still gave me the same report. I also checked my memory, it says no problem with ram. Everything else is ok, I re-started the windows a few times, got more free space on my C: drive, yet the Java program is still not responding to my new changes, unless I intentionally make a mistake, it gives me compile error, but if it can compile successfully, it still gives me the results before the change. What can I do to fix this ? Frank

  I want to split a 400k line long log file from a particular line number. For this question, lets make this an arbitrary number 300k. Is there a linux function that allows me to do this? I know split lets me split the file in equal parts either by size or line numbers but that's not what I want. I want to the first 300k in one file and the last 100k in the second file. • I need to order a list that is dependant on another list. how to change both lists?

  I have a Matlab program that generates a list x = 6.1692 8.1863 5.8092 8.2754 6.0891 the program also outputs another list aspl = 680 637 669 599 693. The two lists are on equal length and the first element in list x is related to the first element in list aspl. I need to graph the two lists but want list aspl to be in order from smallest to largest. How would I go about doing this? If I need to move the first element in aspl to position 4 in the list, then the first element of list x also needs to be moved to position 4 in list x. The numbers above are not important they are just examples, the actual program generates hundereds of numbers. for example x = 6.1692 8.1863 5.8092 8.2754 initially aspl = 680 637 669 599 693 after changing aspl to ascending order this is how x should look. x = 5.8092 8.1863 5.8092 6.1692 8.2754 aspl = 599 637 669 680 693

  Hi Im facing a probem with the car and cdr functions for example: first I defined a list caled it x (define x (a (bc) d ( (ef) g ) )) so x now is equal to (a (bc) d ( (ef) g ) now for example I need to get the g from this list using only car and cdr (!! noshortcuts as caddr cddr !!) the correct answer is: (car(cdr(car(cdr(cdr(cdr x)))))) BUT how ? :-( I work according to the rule (the car gives the head of list and cdr gives the tail) and instead of getting the answer above I keep reaching wronge answers can any one help me in understanding this ... give me step or a way to solve it step by step thanx in advance Im really sick of scheme language.

• jQuery if checkbox is checked to toggle classes

  I am needed to change my jQuery code up. Instead of the label toggling the class and showing the icon I need it to where if the checkbox is checked to show to toggle those classes. I have tried prop and is but I couldn't get them to work properly. The reason for the change is I want to preload data into the form and if it's going to be checked those toggles need to reflect that change. http://jsfiddle.net/70fbLooL/2/ EDIT Seems to be confusion as to exactly what I am trying to do. The fiddle I provided works perfectly fine. The problem is if I want to call the form from server-side and pre-populate the form the checkbox toggles will not show that they are checked because it's based on the clicked function. I need it to be based on if the checkbox equal true or checked. That way if the value equals true from the server-side call it will toggle those classes and look like it's checked.
