2010 could be a big year in Internet privacy legislation, which may affect how marketers(and small businesses)collect customer information. Here’s a look at the issues facing the FTC.
<b>IT News:</b> "On May 5, the world's top domain authorities (led by ICANN, the US Government and Verisign) will complete the first phase of the roll-out of DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions) across the 13 root servers that direct user requests to the relevant websites on the internet."

<b>Datamation:</b> "For some, the name LISP (define) conjures up memories of an old programming language. For others, LISP has a different meaning that is rooted in the future of Internet routing."
I have 2 PDF apps installed: Adobe Reader 9 and Foxit PDF Reader. For whatever reason, Foxit PDF Reader is the default PDF plugin for InternetExplorer.
How do I make Adobe Reader 9 to be the default PDF plugin (short of uninstalling Foxit or reinstalling Adobe Reader)?
i don't want to take a GPRS connection and want to use my PC's internet connection to access internet on my mobile phone. is it possible? i have samsung sgh e251.
When I open a new windows explorer window, I would like the 'Folders' sections on the left to be collapsed by default, so that the 'Favorite Links' section has maximum room.
How do I accomplish this?
Windows Vista File Explorer used to display column headers regardless whether it was in Details or List view.
But Windows 7 displays column headers only in Details view.
Details View - column headers are present
List View - column headers are missing
How can I display column headers in List view mode as it did in Windows Vista?
Consider visiting a website using HTTPS. InternetExplorer (IE8 in this case) presents a warning:
Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?
Clicking the More Info button leads to a bunch of other questions, but offers no indication on how to remove this prompt.
How do you adjust IE's settings to remove this security warning?
I use Windows 7 and I saved my login to a server in the network. But meanwhile my password has changed. When I now try to access that server then Windows Explorer automatically uses the old user and password, so I get an "Access denied" popup. And my account is blocked after 3 failed login attempts.
How can I delete or change the saved password?
I'm looking for an Explorer plug-in (not a standalone app) that gives me tabs and integrates very nicely into the Windows 7 look and feel.
What I'm looking for is something along the lines of Total Finder for Mac.
Any suggestions?
This is related to the question, "Can I monitor who is using my Mac OS X Internet Sharing?" but while that deals with Mac OS X, my questions is about Windows XP.
How do I find out who is sharing my internet connection on XP Pro?
I recently created an Intranet application for my company, but to work properly it must execute an ActiveX control to locally run a program.
However, the only way I found for this to work was using InternetExplorer, and setting Intranet security to a personalized "very low" configuration for being able to execute ActiveX scripts without asking.
I think there is a way to automatically configure IE's settings for all users from Active Directory, but I can't find it. Any help?
What is the best way to block annoying ads but allow useful ads on Firefox and Explorer (8), basically I would like to:
block animated flash ads
block animated silverlight ads
block animated gif ads
allow subtle google ads and ads on e.g. StackOverflow which are graphics but often useful information
allow flash in general
allow silverlight in general
allow animated gif in general
What is the best way to strike this balance?
Hi all,
thanks for reading.
I just set up a fresh install of Windows Server 2008, and have a favorite links pane above folders in my Explorer. I know I can drag folders over it, but it comes back, and looks funky.
How can I really just disable that? Anyone know where it is in the registry?
Thanks!
I'm working in XP Pro and I've never seen this problem. When I try to open a file, Explorer locks up and I have to shut it down from the task manager. When I right-click, the only options in the context menu are Print, Open With..., and Send To. No Delete, no cut/copy/paste, etc.
In the past I have always run a NAT router between my Windows PC's and the internet. I'm wondering if I still need this or whether the OSX firewall is good enough to let me put a Mac directly on the internet.
In Windows 7, Windows Explorer has a large bar just above the status bar that contains properties of the highlighted item. Is it possible to hide this? It takes up a significant amount of screen space I'd prefer using in the file listing.
Also, is it possible to hide the tool bar for the same reason? That's what I'm calling the bar near the top with "Organize, Open, Include in Library, Share With..."
I'm looking for good/safe/reliable windows explorer add in to use with SkyDrive.
I found and I'm using Gladinet which allowed dragging of a folder plus contents into SkyDrive, but not dragging of folders containing folders, its working but it has also failed to transfer a few times as well.
Anything better? That can drag folders containing other folders? Any comment on how safe they are (as you obviously need to enter your windows live password)
Using Ctrl+Tab in InternetExplorer 7 (on Windows XP) seems to follow no sequence that I can work out.
Using Shift+Ctrl+Tab even jumps around with no clear logic in what tab order is being followed.
It doesn't even work to the reverse as expected from using it in other programs, such as Firefox.
Please explain to me how this key combo works in IE7 because I can't figure it out.
I need to create a 'Folder Shortcut' in Windows Explorer in Windows 2000. I don't mean a mapped drive, just a Folder Shortcut to a shared network folder (it will end up as a first-level object under My Network Places).
I tried using the comments feature in Windows Explorer in Windows 7, but I only get the option to add a comment only for certain file types like photos.
Is it possible to add comments to other files that I work on like Photoshop files.
