  • Databinding a ListView with Mono for Android

    - by Wallym
The world lives on data. Data is all around us and in many forms: salespeople need to know what customers have spent; twitter users want to know what their friends are saying. How do we as developers present data to a user? In Android, we use the ListView in its various forms. In this article, we'll look at using a ListView, how we can work with it, then discuss what we need to do to overcome some of the challenges in a mobile environment.Article url: http://visualstudiomagazine.com/articles/2012/09/14/databind-a-listview.aspx

  • Repeated disconnects on WPA PEAP network

    - by exasperated
    My school has a WPA PEAP network with GTC inner authentication. I am able to connect to the network, but once I load a website or two, the network become unresponsive (i.e. in Chromium, it gets stuck at "Sending request"), and I'm eventually disconnected. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Here's some log output. I can provide more if needed: Ubuntu 13.04 3.8.0-32-generic x86_64 lsusb: 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6235 (rev 24) lsmod: iwldvm                241872  0  mac80211              606457  1 iwldvm iwlwifi               173516  1 iwldvm cfg80211              511019  3 iwlwifi,mac80211,iwldvm dmesg: [    3.501227] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: irq 46 for MSI/MSI-X [    3.503541] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: loaded firmware version 18.168.6.1 [    3.527153] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: CONFIG_IWLWIFI_DEBUG disabled [    3.527162] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: CONFIG_IWLWIFI_DEBUGFS enabled [    3.527170] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: CONFIG_IWLWIFI_DEVICE_TRACING enabled [    3.527178] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: CONFIG_IWLWIFI_DEVICE_TESTMODE enabled [    3.527186] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: CONFIG_IWLWIFI_P2P disabled [    3.527192] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: Detected Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6235 AGN, REV=0xB0 [    3.527240] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: L1 Disabled; • OpenGL (glx) not working with ubuntu 12.10

    - by user26766
    It all started when I installed nvidia's own (download from website) driver. Uninstalling it and reverting back to nvidia-current didn't solve the problem, so I have been playing with this for a while. It seems glx support is missing, and my intel graphics is not responding. gnome loads only in fallback mode. Here are some outputs: glxinfo name of display: :0.0 Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual or fbconfig glxgears Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual optirun glxgears works fine lspci | grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 540M] (rev ff) Here's the content of log file when just after running glxinfo: less /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep gl [ 112.156] (II) LoadModule: "glx" [ 112.157] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so [ 112.157] (II) Module glx: vendor="X.Org Foundation" [ 112.157] (II) UnloadModule: "glx" [ 112.157] (II) Unloading glx [ 112.157] (EE) Failed to load module "glx" (module requirement mismatch, 0) Some more info... lsmod Module Size Used by bbswitch 13612 0 pci_stub 12623 1 vboxpci 23195 0 vboxnetadp 25671 0 vboxnetflt 23480 0 vboxdrv 320372 3 vboxpci,vboxnetadp,vboxnetflt parport_pc 32689 0 ppdev 17074 0 bnep 18141 2 rfcomm 46620 12 binfmt_misc 17501 1 snd_hda_codec_hdmi 32049 1 snd_hda_codec_realtek 78147 1 joydev 17458 0 uvcvideo 76750 0 videobuf2_core 32852 1 uvcvideo videodev 120310 2 uvcvideo,videobuf2_core videobuf2_vmalloc 12861 1 uvcvideo videobuf2_memops 13405 1 videobuf2_vmalloc snd_hda_intel 33492 3 coretemp 13401 0 kvm_intel 132760 0 arc4 12530 2 snd_hda_codec 134213 3 snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_intel kvm 414111 1 kvm_intel iwlwifi 386837 0 i915 520799 2 snd_hwdep 17699 1 snd_hda_codec snd_pcm 96668 3 snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec psmouse 100389 0 drm_kms_helper 49113 1 i915 ghash_clmulni_intel 13221 0 snd_seq_midi 13325 0 snd_rawmidi 30513 1 snd_seq_midi btusb 22475 0 drm 288436 3 i915,drm_kms_helper serio_raw 13216 0 snd_seq_midi_event 14900 1 snd_seq_midi snd_seq 61555 2 snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_midi_event mac80211 535936 1 iwlwifi bluetooth 209249 22 bnep,rfcomm,btusb snd_timer 29426 2 snd_pcm,snd_seq snd_seq_device 14498 3 snd_seq_midi,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq snd 78921 16 snd_hda_codec_hdmi,snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec,snd_hwdep,snd_pcm,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq,snd_timer,snd_seq_device cfg80211 206797 2 iwlwifi,mac80211 aesni_intel 51038 1 cryptd 20404 2 ghash_clmulni_intel,aesni_intel aes_x86_64 17256 1 aesni_intel dell_wmi 12682 0 sparse_keymap 13891 1 dell_wmi dcdbas 14439 0 i2c_algo_bit 13414 1 i915 microcode 22804 0 lpc_ich 17062 0 soundcore 15048 1 snd snd_page_alloc 18485 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm video 19391 1 i915 mac_hid 13206 0 wmi 19071 1 dell_wmi mei 40691 0 lp 17760 0 parport 46346 3 parport_pc,ppdev,lp ahci 25721 3 libahci 31192 1 ahci atl1c 41102 0 how can I fix this? any ideas? Here is another thing I've tried: sudo apt-get purge nvidia* sudo reboot sudo apt-get install bumblebee bumblebee-nvidia didn't make any difference. The most relevant post I found on the web was this: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1722306.html Here it's explained that the problem is with the priority of shared libraries that are loaded for glxinfo. Here's what I get when I look up the libraries: linux-vdso.so.1 => (0x00007fff6bf8b000) libGL.so.1 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1 (0x00007f22d6ccd000) libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libX11.so.6 (0x00007f22d6993000) libc.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (0x00007f22d65d3000) libglapi.so.0 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglapi.so.0 (0x00007f22d63ad000) libXext.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXext.so.6 (0x00007f22d619b000) libXdamage.so.1 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXdamage.so.1 (0x00007f22d5f97000) libXfixes.so.3 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXfixes.so.3 (0x00007f22d5d91000) libX11-xcb.so.1 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libX11-xcb.so.1 (0x00007f22d5b8f000) libxcb-glx.so.0 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxcb-glx.so.0 (0x00007f22d5977000) libxcb.so.1 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxcb.so.1 (0x00007f22d5759000) libXxf86vm.so.1 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXxf86vm.so.1 (0x00007f22d5553000) libdrm.so.2 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libdrm.so.2 (0x00007f22d5346000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 (0x00007f22d5129000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libdl.so.2 (0x00007f22d4f25000) /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00007f22d6f54000) libXau.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXau.so.6 (0x00007f22d4d20000) libXdmcp.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXdmcp.so.6 (0x00007f22d4b1a000) librt.so.1 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/librt.so.1 (0x00007f22d4911000) It seems "mesa" instead of nvidia-current is being used. However I didn't find any obvious link to /lib/nvidia-current in /etc/ld.so.conf (where the directories containing the shared libraries are listed). I don't know if there's anything missing or if this is normal. thanks, UPDATE: The problem was solved by updating to Ubuntu 13.04. It seems bumblebee was to blame, but I'm not sure what was going wrong...

  • Flash player (in Firefox) is unstable in 14.04

    - by henry
For 13.10, I used this guide to get Intel iGPU-supported playback of flash videos in Firefox: http://www.webupd8.org/2013/09/adobe-flash-player-hardware.html All in all, Intel graphics acceleration for flash content was working just fine in 13.10, at least on my machine (with Xubuntu). I basically followed the guide to do the same for 14.04, but about 2-3 weeks ago flash videos started acting up. Whenever I have one instance of flash paused or stopped in one tab and go to the next tab to continue some song on Soundcloud or something, it's game over. I'm clueless as to what I can do here. Did anything change in the meantime?

  • Windows Store now open to lots more developers (120 markets!)

    - by Michael B. McLaughlin
See the post here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/windowsstore/archive/2012/09/11/windows-store-now-open-to-all-developers.aspx . This includes individual accounts now so if you tried signing up before and got a message about it only covering company accounts, you can sign up now. Don’t forget to verify your account and setup your payment and tax information. Also, if you are an MSDN subscriber you should be able to get a code from the MSDN site that will give you a free year (saving $49 US) but you will still need to submit some form of payment (e.g. credit or debit card) for verification purposes and so that they can automatically rebill you at the end of the subscription year (unless you’ve cancelled your account for some reason, of course). Go forth and register and make awesome games and apps for me to buy and play and use!

  • YouTube fullscreen not displaying

    - by pt2ph8
For some reason YouTube videos in my website do not get the fullscreen button, even if I added the parameter allowFullScreen set to true both in the object and embed tag. Here's an example page: http://www.indievault.it/2011/11/09/indie-vault-alla-games-week-2011-online-la-video-gallery/ Just take a quick look at the source. The allowFullScreen param is there, but the button won't show. Here's an excerpt from the code in that page: <object width="540" height="325"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dvYQhJwwkgA"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dvYQhJwwkgA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="540" height="325"></embed </object>

  • Sharepoint courses on Pluralsight

    - by TATWORTH
I have just heard from Plural Sight that through their partnership with Critical Path training, they are adding 33 new SharePoint courses at no extra cost. The key parts of their announcement at http://blog.pluralsight.com/2012/09/13/critical-path-training-joins-the-pluralsight-library-over-30-sharepoint-courses-today/ is:"Over the next several hours we’ll begin publishing our first set of Critical Path Training online courses, and by the end of the day, you will see a total of 33 new SharePoint courses added to the Pluralsight library! These new courses primarily cover SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010 for developers, administrators, end users, power users, and web designers.""By end of year, we expect to release another 22 courses from Critical Path Training that will exclusively cover the SharePoint 2013 release."Well done Pluralsight and Critical Path!

  • How to create a Raining Effect(Particles) on Android?

    - by user19495
I am developing a 2d android strategy game, it runs on SurfaceView, so I can't(or can I?) use LibGdx's particle system. And I would like to make a raining effect, I am aiming for something like this( http://ridingwiththeriver.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/rain-fall-animation.gif ), I don't need the splash effect in the end (although that would be superb, but probably would take up a lot of system resources). How could I achieve that raining effect? Any ideas? Thank You a lot in advance!

  • how to un-install a special driver/kernel in 13.04

    - by hako
I have tried to install a special ATI driver using a method described in http://debianhelp.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/to-do-list-after-installing-ubuntu-13-04-aka-raring-ringtail-operating-system/ Details: Alternative ATI Legacy Video Driver PPA installation for (for < 5000 series cards): sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx fglrx_* fglrx-amdcccle* fglrx-dev* sudo add-apt-repository ppa:makson96/fglrx sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic fglrx-legacy sudo aticonfig --initial And then reboot. There were a couple of warnings at "sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic fglrx-legacy" with update-alternatives. But, at the last step I got "aticonfig: No supported adapters detected". Unity does not start anymore. I only can login to Gnome. How can I get back to a working system?

  • How do I secure a Tomcat installation?

    - by spangeman
I have installed tomcat on my Ubuntu Home 11.10 system and can successfully access the test page online after port forwarding on 8080 within my router. I have not made any other changes to the router, Ubuntu or the tomcat install, everything else has remained standard. I intend on using this to play around with Java Servlets and basic web development for my own personal use. What steps, if any, would you suggest I take to ensure this is secure? Should I change anything within the Tomcat configuration? This seemed like a good idea to limit access - http://www.seankilleen.com/2010/09/how-to-allow-only-specific-ip-addresses_30.html But I am open to any other recommendations.

  • Multiple Passwords on One Account

    - by user110789
I'd like to join three ideas into one interesting and sometimes useful feature. There was a question about using multiple passwords earlier this year, but it didn't receive much attention. I'd like to ask the question again after showing an interesting and new way to use the feature. The three original posts I found to be interestingly combined were: (1) Multiple passwords per user (2) http://blog.littleimpact.de/index.php/2009/09/14/automatic-encryption-of-home-directories-using-truecrypt-62-and-pam_exec/ (3) http://www.truecrypt.org/docs/hidden-volume Basically I'd like to login to my account with two passwords and depending on the password I use, I would get a different content in my home directory. In a way I would get a cryptographically hidden account into my system. So the question is, is it possible to allow multiple passwords to log on to Ubuntu/Linux for the same user?

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 64bit. I'm using HTTP proxy over ssh as mentioned here. If I do not start TinyProxy, everything is OK. But, when I start TinyProxy, I'm getting the following. I think there is an application running on my machine and watching the proxy to start. But I could not decide which one it could be. ps ax PID TTY STAT TIME COMMAND 1 ? Ss 0:01 /sbin/init 2 ? • ffmpeg rotate mp4 90º

    - by shox
Hi, can I rotate(+save / reencode) a .mp4 with ffmpeg? The only thing I found was on the mailinglist saying -vfilters "rotate=90" but ffmpeg says no vfilters. Tried -vf, it says there is no rotate. If I try to do it in VLC it simply does not rotate and kills the audio (did the vlc encoding EVER work? Every single freakin video I throw at it gets fu****d up in some way -_- ) I'm on a MAC and don't have iWork. Any ideas? • WPF Binding KeyDown event to Command

    - by Daniil Harik
Hello, I want to bind KeyDown event handler (when user presses Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V) on Telerik's GridView to RelayCommand object in my ViewModel. I know about this post http://blog.functionalfun.net/2008/09/hooking-up-commands-to-events-in-wpf.html But I'm still bit confused about implementation of my scenario. I just don't understand how it works. Could someone point out how should my scenario be implemented. Thank You very much!

  • Can't connect to local IP address on OSX

    - by Alex Worden
I'm trying to connect to a webserver that's running on my mac OSX 1.6. I'm able to connect to it locally using http://127.0.0.1:8888/myapp but when I attempt to connect to it using my machine's local IP address (http://192.168.1.15:8888/myapp IP shown below) from the same machine (or another on the network) I cannot connect. I can ping the LAN IP address. I've tried adding IP forwarding to my router for port 8888 but it didn't help. I've checked and the OSX firewall is disabled Can anyone suggest what else is blocking the connection? Here's what I get when I run ifconfig: ~ :ifconfig lo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 16384 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 gif0: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1280 stf0: flags=0<> mtu 1280 en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 ether 00:1f:5b:e8:16:4d media: autoselect status: inactive supported media: autoselect 10baseT/UTP <half-duplex> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex,hw-loopback> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex,flow-control> 100baseTX <half-duplex> 100baseTX <full-duplex> 100baseTX <full-duplex,hw-loopback> 100baseTX <full-duplex,flow-control> 1000baseT <full-duplex> 1000baseT <full-duplex,hw-loopback> 1000baseT <full-duplex,flow-control> none en1: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet6 fe80::21e:c2ff:febf:4809%en1 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x5 inet 192.168.1.15 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 ether 00:1e:c2:bf:48:09 media: autoselect status: active supported media: autoselect fw0: flags=8802<BROADCAST,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 4078 lladdr 00:1f:5b:ff:fe:2b:b3:3c media: autoselect <full-duplex> status: inactive supported media: autoselect <full-duplex> en5: flags=8822<BROADCAST,SMART,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 ether 00:1e:c2:8e:0f:45 media: autoselect status: inactive supported media: none autoselect 10baseT/UTP <half-duplex> en2: flags=8922<BROADCAST,SMART,PROMISC,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 ether 00:1c:42:00:00:00 media: autoselect status: inactive supported media: autoselect en3: flags=8922<BROADCAST,SMART,PROMISC,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 ether 00:1c:42:00:00:01 media: autoselect status: inactive supported media: autoselect

    - by Anonymouse

In order to tidy this table up, I need to get this information as a date range rather than a row per day as it currently is. I can obviously do this with Min and Max aggregates easily but the ranges overlap and other business code expect non-overlapping ranges. I also tried to achieve this with self joins and row_number(), but without much success... Here is what I'm trying to achieve as the output: Product | StartDate | EndDate | Price ------------------------------------------- Apples | 01 Mar 2010 | 02 Mar 2010 | 4.90 Apples | 03 Mar 2010 | 03 Mar 2010 | 2.50 Apples | 05 Mar 2010 | 09 Mar 2010 | 4.90 Apples | 10 Mar 2010 | 10 Mar 2010 | 2.50 Apples | 11 Mar 2010 | 16 Mar 2010 | 4.90 Apples | 17 Mar 2010 | 17 Mar 2010 | 2.50 Apples | 18 Mar 2010 | 23 Mar 2010 | 4.90 Apples | 24 Mar 2010 | 24 Mar 2010 | 2.50 Apples | 25 Mar 2010 | 30 Mar 2010 | 4.90 Apples | 31 Mar 2010 | 31 Mar 2010 | 2.50 What would please be the best approach to get this done? Thanks a lot in advance,

  • Using Monotouch with Google .NET APIs

    - by Bryan
I am using Mike Bluestein's article, http://mikebluestein.wordpress.com/2009/09/27/using-monotouch-with-the-net-library-for-the-google-data-api/, to build an application that communicates with the google APIs. When I try to add references to my project, the imported projects say "incompatible target framework: v2.0". I can change version to 1.0, 3.0, or 3.5 with the same results. If I add the .dll to the monotouch project I get a compilation error - monotouch failed with no output 134. Any suggestions?

I want to use MarkItUp as my editor and have found a straight forward article on how to integrate with MVC which seems straight forward enough: http://rsolberg.com/2010/09/asp-net-mvc-markitup-rich-text-editor/ However, how do I do this with a forms website? How do I get the MarkItDown Textarea on a postback and get the preview to work as well?

  • How to get star query optimization in SQL Server 2005

    - by Jan
I have a star schema but SQL Server 2005 always uses the clustered indexes to access a table. What parameters do I have to set to enable this optimization. According to http://blogs.msdn.com/sqlqueryprocessing/archive/2007/04/09/how-to-check-whether-the-final-query-plan-is-optimized-for-star-join.aspx and the DWH datasheet of SQL Server 2005 both claim, that SQL Server 2005 support this feature.
