  • Value of AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetupInformation.ConfigurationFile changes based on if the file exi

    - by Dan Neely
I have a check to make sure the app.config file exists and to report an error if it does not: System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show(AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetupInformation.ConfigurationFile); if (!File.Exists(AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetupInformation.ConfigurationFile)) { throw new ConfigurationErrorsException("Unable to find configuration file. File is expected at location: " + AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetupInformation.ConfigurationFile + "\n"); } When I build the app.config file in my solution is added to the output directory as AppName.exe.config, and if run from outside visual studio AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetupInformation.ConfigurationFile contains the path C:...\AppName.exe.config (from within VS it's C:..\AppName.vshost.exe.config). If I delete AppName.exe.config, the value is C:..\Appname.config (no .exe). I did a bit of farther experimentation, and if Appname.config exists that file will also work to load my setting values. What's going on here? I need to have everything consistent for error reporting purposes.

  • How To Replace Notepad in Windows 7

    - by Trevor Bekolay
It used to be that Notepad was a necessary evil because it started up quickly and let us catch a quick glimpse of plain text files. Now, there are a bevy of capable Notepad replacements that are just as fast, but also have great feature sets. Before following the rest of this how-to, ensure that you’re logged into an account with Administrator access. Note: The following instructions involve modifying some Windows system folders. Don’t mess anything up while you’re in there! If you follow our instructions closely, you’ll be fine. Choose your replacement There are a ton of great Notepad replacements, including Notepad2, Metapad, and Notepad++. The best one for you will depend on what types of text files you open and what you do with them. We’re going to use Notepad++ in this how-to. The first step is to find the executable file that you’ll replace Notepad with. Usually this will be the only file with the .exe file extension in the folder where you installed your text editor. Copy the executable file to your desktop and try to open it, to make sure that it works when opened from a different folder. In the Notepad++ case, a special little .exe file is available for the explicit purpose of replacing Notepad. If we run it from the desktop, it opens up Notepad++ in all its glory. Back up Notepad You will probably never go back once you switch, but you never know. You can backup Notepad to a special location if you’d like, but we find it’s easiest to just keep a backed up copy of Notepad in the folders it was originally located. In Windows 7, Notepad resides in: C:\Windows C:\Windows\System32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64 in 64-bit versions only Navigate to each of those directories and copy Notepad. Paste it into the same folder. If prompted, choose to Copy, but keep both files. You can keep your backup as “notepad (2).exe”, but we prefer to rename it to “notepad.exe.bak”. Do this for all of the folders that have Notepad (2 total for 32-bit Windows 7, 3 total for 64-bit). Take control of Notepad and delete it Even if you’re on an administrator account, you can’t just delete Notepad – Microsoft has made some security gains in this respect. Fortunately for us, it’s still possible to take control of a file and delete it without resorting to nasty hacks like disabling UAC. Navigate to one of the directories that contain Notepad. Right-click on it and select Properties.   Switch to the Security tab, then click on the Advanced button. Note that the owner of the file is a user called “TrustedInstaller”. You can’t do much with files owned by TrustedInstaller, so let’s take control of it. Click the Edit… button. Select the desired owner (you could choose your own account, but we’re going to give any Administrator control) and click OK. You’ll get a message that you need to close and reopen the Properties windows to edit permissions. Before doing that, confirm that the owner has changed to what you selected. Click OK, then OK again to close the Properties window. Right-click on Notepad and click on Properties again. Switch to the Security tab. Click on Edit…. Select the appropriate group or user name in the list at the top, then add a checkmark in the checkbox beside Full control in the Allow column. Click OK, then Yes to the dialog box that pops up. Click OK again to close the Properties window. Now you can delete Notepad, by either selecting it and pressing Delete on the keyboard, or right-click on it and click Delete.   You’re now free from Notepad’s foul clutches! Repeat this procedure for the remaining folders (or folder, on 32-bit Windows 7). Drop in your replacement Copy your Notepad replacement’s executable, which should still be on your desktop. Browse to the two or three folders listed above and copy your .exe to those locations. If prompted for Administrator permission, click Continue. If your executable file was named something other than “notepad.exe”, rename it to “notepad.exe”. Don’t be alarmed if the thumbnail still shows the old Notepad icon. Double click on Notepad and your replacement should open. To make doubly sure that it works, press Win+R to bring up the Run dialog box and enter “notepad” into the text field. Press enter or click OK. Now you can allow Windows to open files with Notepad by default with little to no shame! All without restarting or having to disable UAC! • Winrar sfx deletes files too early

    - by Simon Ottenhaus
I'm trying to build a sfx (self extracting archive) using winrar. I'm using VS2008 to build a setup.exe and a myapp.msi. If setup.exe is executed it does some checking an launches myapp.msi I'm using some sfx options to make the extraction quiet and make it extract so some temp folder: ;Der folgende Kommentar enthält SFX-Skriptbefehle Setup=setup.exe TempMode Silent=2 Overwrite=1 It seems winrar deletes the msi right after setup.exe is launched. Setup.exe can't find the msi and crashes. Is there some way to fix this?

  • Converting Creole to HTML, PDF, DOCX, ..

    - by Marko Apfel
Challenge We documented a project on Github with the Wiki there. For most articles we used Creole as markup language. Now we have to deliver a lot of the content to our client in an usual format like PDF or DOCX. So we need a automatism to extract all relevant content, merge it together and convert the stuff to a new format. Problem One of the most popular toolsets to convert between several formats is Pandoc. But unfortunally Pandoc does not support Creole (see the converting matrix). Approach So we need an intermediate step: Converting from Creole to a supported Pandoc format. Creolo/c is a Creole to Html converter and does exactly what we need. After converting our Creole content to Html we could use Pandoc for all the subsequent tasks. Solution Getting the Creole stuff First at all we need the Creole content on our locale machines. This is easy. Because the Github Wiki themselves is a Git repository we could clone it to our machine. In the working copy we see now all the files and the suffix gives us the hint for the markup language. Converting and Merging Creole content to Html Because we would like all content from several Creole files in one HTML file, we have to convert and merge all the input files to one output file. Creole/c has an option (-b) to generate only the Html-stuff below a Html <Body>-tag. And this is hook for us to start. We have to create manually the additional preluding Html-tags (<html>, <head>, ..), then we merge all needed Creole content to our output file and last we add the closing tags. This could be done straightforward with a little bit old DOS magic: REM === Generate the intro tags === ECHO ^<html^> > %TMP%\output.html ECHO ^<head^> >> %TMP%\output.html ECHO ^<meta name="generator" content="creole/c"^> >> %TMP%\output.html ECHO ^</head^> >> %TMP%\output.html ECHO ^<body^> >> %TMP%\output.html REM === Mix in all interesting Creole stuff with creole/c === .\Creole-C\bin\creole.exe -b .\..\datamodel+overview.creole >> %TMP%\output.html .\Creole-C\bin\creole.exe -b .\..\datamodel+domain+CvdCaptureMode.creole >> %TMP%\output.html .\Creole-C\bin\creole.exe -b .\..\datamodel+domain+CvdDamageReducingActivity.creole >> %TMP%\output.html .\Creole-C\bin\creole.exe -b .\..\datamodel+lookup+IncidentDamageCodes.creole >> %TMP%\output.html .\Creole-C\bin\creole.exe -b .\..\datamodel+table+Attachments.creole >> %TMP%\output.html .\Creole-C\bin\creole.exe -b .\..\datamodel+table+TrafficLights.creole >> %TMP%\output.html REM === Generate the outro tags === ECHO ^</body^> >> %TMP%\output.html ECHO ^</html^> >> %TMP%\output.html REM === Convert the Html file to Docx with Pandoc === .\Pandoc\bin\pandoc.exe -o .\Database-Schema.docx %TMP%\output.html Some explanation for this The first ECHO call creates the file. Therefore the beginning <html> tag is send via > to a temporary working file. All following calls add content to the existing file via >>. The tag-characters < and > must be escaped. This is done by the caret sign (^). We use a file in the default temporary folder (%TMP%) to avoid writing in our current folders. (better for continuous integration) Both toolsets (Creole/c and Pandoc) are copied to a versioned tools folder in the Wiki. This is committable and no problem after pushing – Github does not do anything with it. In this folder is also the batch (Export-Docx.bat) for all the steps. Pandoc recognizes the conversion by the suffixes of the file names. So it is enough to specify only the input and output files.

  • Why would Silverlight be crashing in Release but not in Debug mode?

    - by Edward Tanguay
I have a Silverlight App that has worked well in Debug and Release modes for weeks. It still works well in Debug mode. However, now when I run it in Release mode, it starts, shows me the screen, loads the data, then hangs, and the browser (Firefox) closes automatically. I've tried other browsers and each of them crashes, Chrome says "The Silverlight Plug-In has crashed" for instance. Here are the last lines of Output that I get: 'firefox.exe' (Silverlight): Loaded 'System.Windows.Controls' 'firefox.exe' (Silverlight): Loaded 'System.Windows.Controls.Toolkit' 'firefox.exe' (Silverlight): Loaded 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Silverlight\4.0.50524.0\en-US\mscorlib.debug.resources.dll' 'firefox.exe' (Silverlight): Loaded 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Silverlight\4.0.50524.0\en-US\System.Windows.debug.resources.dll' The program '[1120] firefox.exe: Silverlight' has exited with code -2147023895 (0x800703e9). How can I get more information about what is happening at the point of crash in Release mode that is not happening in Debug mode?

  • Getting the starting shortcut in c#

    - by Flores
Lets say that I have an executable and when it is started I want to know how it's started. I.e. I would like to know if it is started with a shortcut or directly. With this: string test = Environment.GetCommandLineArgs()[0]; I can get the path of the executable, but this is always the same, even if it's started by a shortcut. Lets say my executable is named c:\text.exe and I start it directly, then test = 'c:\test.exe' If I create a shortcut i.e. c:\shortcut.lnk (with target c:\test.exe) I want test to be 'c:\shortcut.exe' but it is 'c:\test.exe' I strongly suspect this to be impossible because the OS handles the shortcut part and the executable never can see the difference, but maybe someone has a creative idea?

  • setting UAC settings of a file in C#

    - by Inam Jameel
Hi guys. i want to give a file(already present on the client computer .exe) permissions to always execute with administrative permissions. please note that the file i wants to give permissions is already on target machine. and i want to change permissions of that file through another program written in c# and it has administrative permissions to do everything. kindly let me know how to do it i am using this code System.Security.AccessControl.FileSecurity fs = File.GetAccessControl(@"c:\inam.exe"); FileSystemAccessRule fsar = new FileSystemAccessRule("Everyone", FileSystemRights.FullControl, AccessControlType.Allow); fs.AddAccessRule(fsar); File.SetAccessControl(@"c:\inam.exe", fs); this code will change the permissions correctly but still when i execute inam.exe after executing this code the UAC not appeared and also the inam.exe cant perform administrative operations. actually i have already deployed an application on more than 10,000 clients so wants to release a patch to resolve the administrative rights issue.

  • Issues with ILMerge, Lambda Expressions and VS2010 merging?

    - by John Blumenauer
A little Background For quite some time now, it’s been possible to merge multiple .NET assemblies into a single assembly using ILMerge in Visual Studio 2008.  This is especially helpful when writing wrapper assemblies for 3rd-party libraries where it’s desirable to minimize the number of assemblies for distribution.  During the merge process, ILMerge will take a set of assemblies and merge them into a single assembly.  The resulting assembly can be either an executable or a DLL and is identified as the primary assembly. Issue During a recent project, I discovered using ILMerge to merge assemblies containing lambda expressions in Visual Studio 2010 is resulting in invalid primary assemblies.  The code below is not where the initial issue was identified, I will merely use it to illustrate the problem at hand. In order to describe the issue, I created a console application and a class library for calculating a few math functions utilizing lambda expressions.  The code is available for download at the bottom of this blog entry. MathLib.cs using System; namespace MathLib { public static class MathHelpers { public static Func<double, double, double> Hypotenuse = (x, y) => Math.Sqrt(x * x + y * y); static readonly Func<int, int, bool> divisibleBy = (int a, int b) => a % b == 0; public static bool IsPrimeNumber(int x) { { for (int i = 2; i <= x / 2; i++) if (divisibleBy(x, i)) return false; return true; }; } } } Program.cs using System; using MathLib; namespace ILMergeLambdasConsole { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { int n = 19; if (MathHelpers.IsPrimeNumber(n)) { Console.WriteLine(n + " is prime"); } else { Console.WriteLine(n + " is not prime"); } Console.ReadLine(); } } } Not surprisingly, the preceding code compiles, builds and executes without error prior to running the ILMerge tool.   ILMerge Setup In order to utilize ILMerge, the following changes were made to the project. The MathLib.dll assembly was built in release configuration and copied to the MathLib folder.  The following folder hierarchy was used for this example:   The project file for ILMergeLambdasConsole project file was edited to add the ILMerge post-build configuration.  The following lines were added near the bottom of the project file:  <Target Name="AfterBuild" Condition="'$(Configuration)' == 'Release'"> <Exec Command="&quot;..\..\lib\ILMerge\Ilmerge.exe&quot; /ndebug /out:@(MainAssembly) &quot;@(IntermediateAssembly)&quot; @(ReferenceCopyLocalPaths->'&quot;%(FullPath)&quot;', ' ')" /> <Delete Files="@(ReferenceCopyLocalPaths->'$(OutDir)%(DestinationSubDirectory)%(Filename)%(Extension)')" /> </Target> The ILMergeLambdasConsole project was modified to reference the MathLib.dll located in the MathLib folder above. ILMerge and ILMerge.exe.config was copied into the ILMerge folder shown above.  The contents of ILMerge.exe.config are: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> <requiredRuntime safemode="true" imageVersion="v4.0.30319" version="v4.0.30319"/> </startup> </configuration> Post-ILMerge After compiling and building, the MathLib.dll assembly will be merged into the ILMergeLambdasConsole executable.  Unfortunately, executing ILMergeLambdasConsole.exe now results in a crash.  The ILMerge documentation recommends using PEVerify.exe to validate assemblies after merging.  Executing PEVerify.exe against the ILMergeLambdasConsole.exe assembly results in the following error:    Further investigation by using Reflector reveals the divisibleBy method in the MathHelpers class looks a bit questionable after the merge.     Prior to using ILMerge, the same divisibleBy method appeared as the following in Reflector: It’s pretty obvious something has gone awry during the merge process.  However, this is only occurring when building within the Visual Studio 2010 environment.  The same code and configuration built within Visual Studio 2008 executes fine.  I’m still investigating the issue.  If anyone has already experienced this situation and solved it, I would love to hear from you.  However, as of right now, it looks like something has gone terribly wrong when executing ILMerge against assemblies containing Lambdas in Visual Studio 2010. Solution Files ILMergeLambdaExpression

  • Using TFSBuild to publish ClickOnce files that include prerequisites

    - by icancsharp
I have declared an MSBuild tag in my TFSBuild project in order to publish ClickOnce files for my project. WSE 3.0 and .Net 3.0 are both pre-requisites for the application, so in Visual Studio I have ticked those as pre-requisites. When I build from Visual Studio, it creates a setup.exe file that I can publish to my web site. When you browse to this setup.exe file it installs WSE3.0 and .Net 3.0 and then continues to install my application, which works well. If I get TFS to create the click once files using the MSBuild tag in the TFSBuild file, it creates the setup.exe file, which I can publish to my website in the same way (along with all the other ClickOnce files). When I browse to setup.exe now, however, the prerequisites don't get installed and therefore my program does not run. Does anyone know how to get TFS to build a correct setup.exe file that properly bootstraps my prerequisites?

  • Graceful DOS Command Error-Handling w/PHP popen()

    - by Captain Obvious
PHP 5.2.13 on Windows 2003 I am using the DOS Start /B command to launch a background application using the PHP popen() function: popen("start /B {$_SERVER['HOMEPATH']}/{$app}.exe > {$_SERVER['HOMEPATH']}/bg_output.log 2>&1 & echo $!", 'r'); The popen() function launches a cmd.exe process that runs the specified command; however, if the command fails (e.g. the {$app}.exe doesn't exist or is locked in the above example), the cmd.exe process never returns, and PHP hangs indefinitely as a result. Calling the failing DOS command directly using the Command Prompt results in an Error prompt that requires clicking the OK button. I assume this error confirmation requirement is what's preventing the cmd.exe process from returning to PHP both from the Command Prompt (using both CGI and CLI) and the web (using Apache 2.0 handler w/Apache 2.2). Is there a way to configure PHP, Apache, and/or Win 2003 to return the DOS error to the originating call rather than waiting for confirmation?

  • Can a WoW64 process create/fork/etc pure x64 process ?

    - by Y.B
Hi. I wish to call a x64 exe from x86 process/exe, for example: open x32 cmd : %windir%\SysWoW64\cmd.exe start notepad: notepad.exe <- it will be x32 notepad (according to taskmanager = *) Is it possible to execute the x64 notepad from the x32 cmd ? My problem is the process I'm executing must run as x64, I don't want it to work as x86 (WoW) since it acts differently... this is how it was programmed and I can't change it :-( and my exe is x86... To simplify my question: can a WoW process create/fork/etc pure x64 process ? many thanks YB

  • WPF application in obj directory doesn't work.

    - by juharr
When I build my WPF application the exe that ends up in the bin directory works just fine, but the one in the obj directory does not. When I Debug the exe from the obj directory I get the following exception: TypeInitializationException was unhandled: The type initializer for 'MyProject.App' threw an exception. So basically I'm wondering why the obj exe doesn't work while the bin one does (I was under the assumption that the obj exe was just copied to the bin) and how to fix it. The reason that I even care is because I'm using Wix to create a MSI for my application and I have a Votive project setup that uses var.MyProject.TargetPath which points to the exe in the obj directory.

I want to debug on the customer's machine (Windows Server 2003) to track a problem, and out product is based on .NET 2.0. I want to use DbgCLR.exe to debug a file AAA.dll, what I did is: install .NET 2.0 SDK on the customer's machine (to get the DbgCLR.exe) copy the symbol file AAA.pdb to the same directory with AAA.dll get the source file for AAA.dll the AAA.dll will be loaded by w3wp.exe, so in the DbgCLR Tools-Attach to Process, then I choose w3wp.exe File-Open-File open the source file and add a breakpoint in the function which will be callled but the breakpoint seems do no work because there is an warning icon on it and says : the breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document. On my computer (Windows XP) which has the debug version of whole source code, I did nearly the same thing as above but the different is: I attached aspnet_wp.exe to do the debug and it works What should I do to let it work on the customer's machine?

Here's an example of what I mean... User runs LOADER.EXE program LOADER.EXE downloads another EXE but keeps it all in memory without saving it to disk Runs the downloaded EXE just as it would if it were executed from disk, but does it straight from memory I've seen a few applications like this, and I've never seen an example or an explanation of how it works. Does anyone know? Another example is having an encrypted EXE embedded in another one. It gets extracted and decrypted in memory, without ever being saved to disk before it gets executed. I've seen that one used in some applications to prevent piracy.

I have successfully installed tomcat and jdk using following script !define PRODUCT_NAME "App Deploy" !define PRODUCT_VERSION "1.0" !define PRODUCT_PUBLISHER "ZippySoft" SetCompressor lzma ;!include "UserManagement.nsh" ; MUI 1.67 compatible ------ !include "MUI.nsh" ; MUI Settings !define MUI_ABORTWARNING ;!define MUI_ICON "${NSISDIR}\Contrib\Graphics\Icons\modern-install.ico" ; Welcome page !insertmacro MUI_PAGE_WELCOME ; Components page !insertmacro MUI_PAGE_COMPONENTS ; Instfiles page !insertmacro MUI_PAGE_INSTFILES ; Finish page !insertmacro MUI_PAGE_FINISH ; Language files !insertmacro MUI_LANGUAGE "English" ; Reserve files !insertmacro MUI_RESERVEFILE_INSTALLOPTIONS ; MUI end ------ Name "${PRODUCT_NAME} ${PRODUCT_VERSION}" OutFile "AppDeploy.exe" InstallDir "$PROGRAMFILES\App Deploy" ShowInstDetails show ;Section -SETTINGS ; SetOutPath "$INSTDIR" ; SetOverwrite ifnewer ;SectionEnd ;Section "JDK" SEC01 ; File "Prerequisites\jdk-1_5_0_15-windows-i586-p.exe" ; ExecWait "$INSTDIR\jdk-1_5_0_15-windows-i586-p.exe" ;SectionEnd ;System::Call 'Kernel32::SetEnvironmentVariableA(t, t) i("name", "value").r0' ;StrCmp $0 0 error ; ExecWait ProgThatReadsEnv.exe ; Goto done ;error: ; MessageBox MB_OK "Can't set environment variable" ;done: ;Section "Tomcat" SEC02 ; File "Prerequisites\apache-tomcat-6.0.16.exe" ; ExecWait "$INSTDIR\apache-tomcat-6.0.16.exe" ;SectionEnd Section "Data Submission Tool" SEC03 File "Prerequisites\DataSubmissionToolFinal.war" CopyFiles `$INSTDIR\DataSubmissionToolFinal.war` `c:\DataSubmissionToolFinal.war` StrCpy $0 "$INSTDIR\DataSubmissionToolFinal.war" ;Path of copy file from StrCpy $1 "c:\DataSubmissionToolFinal.war" ;Path of copy file to StrCpy $2 1 ; only 0 or 1, set 0 to overwrite file if it already exists System::Call 'kernel32::CopyFile(t r0, t r1, b r2) l' Pop $0 ; pops a bool. if overwrite is off and there is a file then error will be 1 SectionEnd There are no script errors but war file is not getting copied to c drive . How to do it? Also is it possible to identify path to JDK and Tomcat installation using NSIS ? Sorry if the question is too obvious, I am quite new to NSIS..

Could you tell me how you got PartCover running with VS2008 and win 7 x64? Based on this post http://stackoverflow.com/questions/256287/how-do-i-run-partcover-in-x64-windows, I ran c:\Program Files (x86)\Gubka Bob\PartCover .NET 2.3>CorFlags.exe PartCover.exe / 32BIT+ /Force with result Microsoft (R) .NET Framework CorFlags Conversion Tool. Version 3.5.21022.8 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. corflags : warning CF011 : The specified file is strong name signed. Using /Force will invalidate the signature of this image and will require the assembly to be resigned. and c:\Program Files (x86)\NUnit 2.5.2\bin\net-2.0>CorFlags.exe nunit.exe /32BIT+ /Force with result Microsoft (R) .NET Framework CorFlags Conversion Tool. Also, based on my discussion http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2546340/using-partcover-2-3-with-net-4-0-runtime/2964333#2964333, I also tried to use the x86 version of NUnit What I'm trying to run coverage for is the c# money sample for NUnit 2.5.2 I get the same System.Threading.ThreadInterruptedException --- System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040153): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {FB20430E-CDC9-45D7-8453-272268002E08} failed due to the following error: 80040153 Thank you Edit: same thing with PartCover 2.2 My settings: exe file: C:\Program Files (x86)\NUnit 2.5.2\bin\net-2.0\nunit-console-x86.exe working dir: c:\Program Files (x86)\NUnit 2.5.2\samples\csharp\money\ work arg: /config=c:\Program Files (x86)\NUnit 2.5.2\samples\csharp\money\cs-money.csproj rules: +[]

  • Why is my code signing (MS authenticode) verification failing?

    - by Tim
I posted this question and have a freshly minted code signing cert from Thawte. I followed the instructions (or so I thought) and the code signing claims to be done right, however when I try to verify the tool shows an error. I have no idea what it means and no idea how to fix this. Any comments would be appreciated. Command line to sign exe: signtool sign /f mdt.pfx /p password /t http://timestamp.verisign.com/scripts/timstamp.dll test.exe Results: The following certificate was selected: Issued to: [my company] Issued by: Thawte Code Signing CA Expires: 4/23/2011 7:59:59 PM SHA1 hash: 7D1A42364765F8969E83BC00AB77F901118F3601 Done Adding Additional Store Attempting to sign: test.exe Successfully signed and timestamped: test.exe Number of files successfully Signed: 1 Number of warnings: 0 Number of errors: 0 Note that there are no errors or warnings. Now, when I try to verify imagine my surprise: signtool verify /v test.exe results in: Verifying: test.exe SHA1 hash of file: 490BA0656517D3A322D19F432F1C6D40695CAD22 Signing Certificate Chain: Issued to: Thawte Premium Server CA Issued by: Thawte Premium Server CA Expires: 12/31/2020 7:59:59 PM SHA1 hash: 627F8D7827656399D27D7F9044C9FEB3F33EFA9A Issued to: Thawte Code Signing CA Issued by: Thawte Premium Server CA Expires: 8/5/2013 7:59:59 PM SHA1 hash: A706BA1ECAB6A2AB18699FC0D7DD8C7DE36F290F Issued to: [my company] Issued by: Thawte Code Signing CA Expires: 4/23/2011 7:59:59 PM SHA1 hash: 7D1A42364765F8969E83BC00AB77F901118F3601 The signature is timestamped: 4/27/2010 10:19:19 AM Timestamp Verified by: Issued to: Thawte Timestamping CA Issued by: Thawte Timestamping CA Expires: 12/31/2020 7:59:59 PM SHA1 hash: BE36A4562FB2EE05DBB3D32323ADF445084ED656 Issued to: VeriSign Time Stamping Services CA Issued by: Thawte Timestamping CA Expires: 12/3/2013 7:59:59 PM SHA1 hash: F46AC0C6EFBB8C6A14F55F09E2D37DF4C0DE012D Issued to: VeriSign Time Stamping Services Signer - G2 Issued by: VeriSign Time Stamping Services CA Expires: 6/14/2012 7:59:59 PM SHA1 hash: ADA8AAA643FF7DC38DD40FA4C97AD559FF4846DE Number of files successfully Verified: 0 Number of warnings: 0 Number of errors: 1

  • uninstall string

    - by Sakhawat Ali
Hi experts, I am developing an desktop based application using VB.NET, similar to add/remove program. everything was working fine until i start working on uninstall feature. Now what am i doing is that i get the uninstall string of the specific application from the registry and use System.Diagnostics.Process to run UninstallString. Dim proc As New Process() proc.StartInfo.FileName =UninstallString proc.Start() proc.WaitForExit() proc.Close() latter i found that it only work for straight file paths only, i mean with no command line argument like: C:\program files\someApp\uninstall.exe I make a list of list of all UninstallStrings of all application installed on my machine. i found few things like application installed using MSI, some were with rundll32 and few were with straight file path with some command argument like: My Silverlight SDK UninstallString, MSI Example MsiExec.exe /X{2012098D-EEE9-4769-8DD3-B038050854D4} My JetAudio UninstallString, RunDll32 Example RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\engine\6\INTEL3~1\Ctor.dll,LaunchSetup "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information{91F34319-08DE-457A-99C0-0BCDFAC145B9}\Setup.exe" -l0x9 My Google Chrome UninstallString, straight file path with command argument example "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\5.0.375.55\Installer\setup.exe" -uninstall The code i mentioned above does not work for these. i did some string parsing, separate two thing from UninstallString one is Filename and other is Arguments. like for MSI, filename is MSIEXEC.EXE and argument will be rest of the string, same for RunDLL32, same for straight file path with command argument. Now what am i facing is that, after every 2 or 3 days i come to know that this type of unistallstring is also not working. and why is that not working because it is a new type maybe abc C:\program files\someapp.exe -ddd so parse it too. is there any better way of doing that rather then parsing the string.
