• Left mouse button not working in Xubuntu session

  I recent changed from Ubuntu to Xubuntu 12.04. The install worked great for a few days, but suddenly the left mouse button stopped working. The right click and scroll bars work fine. After a bit of experimenting I discovered that the problem only happens when I set the session to Xubuntu at login. The mouse also works fine in my dual-booted Windows vista. What could make my mouse stop working like that?

  Here is my app - http://www.shalgreetings.com/ I am trying to override the scroll bar going down to a imagesection in CSS, so that whole app is visible with logo, header and other controls all the times when people navigate through different #sections. I am not sure where in the CSS, I am making the mistake as clicking on #sections traverses the page. Here is this app's original inspiration code, which has got this right. Anyone can point me where the problem seems to be in the above app?

• Profiling Startup Of VS2012 &ndash; Ants Profiler

  I just downloaded ANTS Profiler 7.4 to check how fast it is and how deep I can analyze the startup of Visual Studio 2012. The Pro version which is useful does cost 445€ which is ok. To measure a complex system I decided to simply profile VS2012 (Update 1) on my older Intel 6600 2,4GHz with 3 GB RAM and a 32 bit Windows 7. Ants Profiler is really easy to use. So lets try it out. The Ants Profiler does want to start the profiled application by its own which seems to be rather common. I did choose Method Level timing of all managed methods. In the configuration menu I did want to get all call stacks to get full details. Once this is configured you are ready to go.   After that you can select the Method Grid to view Wall Clock Time in ms. I hate percentages which are on by default because I do want to look where absolute time is spent and not something else.   From the Method Grid I can drill down to see where time is spent in a nice and I can look at the decompiled methods where the time is spent. This does really look nice. But did you see the size of the scroll bar in the method grid? Although I wanted all call stacks I do get only about 4 pages of methods to drill down. From the scroll bar count I would guess that the profiler does show me about 150 methods for the complete VS startup. This is nonsense. I will never find a bottleneck in VS when I am presented only a fraction of the methods that were actually executed. I have also tried in the configuration window to also profile the extremely trivial functions but there was no noticeable difference. It seems that the Ants Profiler does filter away way too many details to be useful for bigger systems. If you want to optimize a CPU bound operation inside NUnit then Ants Profiler is with its line level timings a very nice tool to work with. But for bigger stuff it is certainly not usable. I also do not like that I must start the profiled application from the profiler UI. This makes it hard to profile processes which are started by some other process. Next: JetBrains dotTrace

  I am using a HP NK527AA Wireless mouse with two side buttons. His mouse wheel is half broken: I can scroll but I can't click it. In windows I configured the side buttons as 3rd mouse button but unfortunately the only available drivers are for windows. Ubuntu treats the side-buttons as back\forward buttons and it's really annoying. Is there a way to configure the buttons if though the is no driver?

I installed everything and followed the guide like it said, but, when I try to boot up from hard drive it displays the desktop, but everything starts to glitch out and I can't click on any applications or scroll over them without it glitching, proceeded by a lock-up. I might re-install it to see if it helps, but if not, you guys got to help me out.

If you use the clear command it just scroll down so that you don't see the command you where working on. • Running CLOC (count lines of code) on Windows...or alternative

  I'm trying to use CLOC on Windows (XP) to count lines of code, and I can't get it to work. I downloaded the latest Win installer for CLOC 1.5.6, ran it (which caused a "DOS" window to open, scroll with text rapidly, then close before I could read anything) and then wrote cloc at the cmd prompt...and Windows doesn't recognize it as a command. Or if there is another easy-to-use lines of code counter that one could recommend (that runs on Windows), I'd be happy to try that.

But I face following error: sudo: /lib/udev/keymap: command not found I have udev version 204-5ubuntu20.2 (the version found in Trusty) I noticed that this version doesn't include keymap tool. But I notices that greater udev versions (which available for Debian, for example) include this tool. Could somebody explain this diff for me? =) And what should I do in this case - install package from Debian repo?

My question is however given the “simplicity” of the game I need to build (simple kind of scratch game where you find or not something behind a tile), do I really need complex tools (canvas or node.js for example) ? The game The gamestakes place with a picture of our office as a background (tilemap). For HR purpose, we wish to create the following game fore employees: each day they can come to the website and click on a certain number of tiles (3 max per day) and find behind it motivation advice and interesting facts about the company. The constraints and rules the screen is divided into isometric 2D square tiles. There are basically an image (photograph of our office) number of tiles on the screen game: about 10,000 to much more (with scroll , see below) the players can scroll in 4 directions there are only 2 types of tiles: already open and closed player can open tiles that have not been yet open by other players there is no path for players : any player can click on any tile on the screen at any moment (if it’s not already done by another player) 2 players can’t be on the same tile at the same moment (or if they can, I’ll have to manage to see which one clicked on it first) only one type of player (all with similar roles), no weapon, no internal score… very simple game. no complex physics (collision only occurs if 2 players are on the same tile) The target I need to achieve: cross device, cross browsers high performance reaction (subsecond reactions) average nb of players per hour: up to 10K players per hour (quite high indeed but it’s because we aim at proving our case for the game to our business unit) So what I would like to know: 2D Tiled map: Do I need tiledmapeditor or can I enable me split the screen like here ? should I use canvas or plain html/css could be sufficient for my need? do I need a game engine/framework such as melon.js or crafty./js ? (even if the game play is extremely basic, I do need mouse and touché device support, mouse emulations on touch devices…) or ca I easily/quickly do it without? for my constraints and targets, should I use CPU acceleration ? for my constraints and targets, should I use web workers ? for the database, for a massively real time game should I avoid to put the current locations of player in MySQL as i feel it might slow me down.   I know that alt+ctrl+F(1-6) take me to available command lines, and that F1 command line is used for debugging, and F8 is the GUI desktop, that what i know but today i noticed there in F7 that does nothing, it only displays some sort of log in message, and there is F(9-12) that just display black screen with blinking under scroll . can anyone enlighten me what those consoles do, are they for trouble shooting maybe? i use ubuntu netbook 10.10.

• Ubuntu 10.04 Server on Hyper-V Server R2 has sluggish install and command line

  I've installed Ubuntu Server 10.04 (64 bit) on a Hyper-V Server R2. I've encountered two issues that I think are related: Very slow install Very slow command prompt The text-mode installer goes through a series of text-based prompt windows. It takes 7-10 seconds for each of these windows to draw on the screen. The end result is that every time I answer a prompt and hit enter I wait for 15 seconds while the screen redraws line by line. I can literally see each line of text being drawn (like the old 300 baud modems days). Once done installing, scrolling on the command line is super slow. For instance, if a simple command, like "ls", causes the screen to scroll, it will scroll very slowly. This happens on a fresh install. The server functions as a LAMP server and an OpenSSH server, but that's it (I don't even have any Virtual Hosts set up yet). AND this only happens on the Virtual Machine console. I access the console through Hyper-V Manager and don't have this problem on any of my other Virtual Machines. Also, this problem does NOT happen when accessing a shell through OpenSSH. How can I improve this performance issue?
