  • Close resources before exiting JFrame and TCP communication in Java

    1. I'm writing a chat based application on TCP communication. I'm using NetBeans and I want to add functionality to the default EXIT_ON_CLOSE when exiting JFrame. The reason of course is because I want to clean resources and end threads safely. How can I call a method that clear resources and only then close the JFrame safely and end the process. 2. I need to implement the server side. The server has List/HashMap/Queue of 'Socket' with their chat nick-names. Is there any simple design pattern to do it correctly because I don't want to re-invent the wheel. thanks.

Problem exist because i have intel laptop with integrated intel 965 graphic media accelerator and driver is up to date and it support openGL 1.5.     Hello! I have a localized application, and I am wondering if it is possible to have the DisplayName for a certain model property set from a Resource. I'd like to do something like this: public class MyModel { [Required] [DisplayName(Resources.Resources.labelForName)] public string name{ get; set; } } But I can't to it, as the compiler says: "An attribute argument must be a constant expression, typeof expression or array creation expression of an attribute parameter type" :( Are there any workarounds? I am outputting labels manually, but I need these for the validator output!

  • Book resources for x86/x64 assembly programming on Win platform

    Hello, I ran a search for assembly language resources on stackoverflow.com and found some interesting results, but they seemed to boil down to two groups: 1) Assembly references to old ia32 architecture, such as the 80386 to Pentium 2) Windows agnostic books. Most of the commenters make the point that assembler is CPU dependent and that the OS is irrelevant, but it seems pointless to me to pick a book that has assembly examples that refer to MS-DOS interrupts and memory layouts. Likewise, learning assembler on Linux would seem to produce Linux executables Are there any: 1) Modern 2) x86/x64 3) on Windows platform - book resources available ? The reason I am targeting the Win platform is I would like to do low-level, OS internals programming, to supplement my Win C/C++ work. Thanks

What popular webservers has support for websockets? The server programming language doesn't matter, I know, Java, PHP, Erlang, Python and more... Just want to do some small experiments.     A small initiative from my work place plans to teach very basic computers to not so fortunate kids. I was looking for some very basic topics/resources. These kids are very young and have not seen/worked with a computer before. The fun factor should not be lost and hence I don't want it to be rigorous, just plain, what is computer, keyboard, mouse, browser, where to look for what (google.com) and so on.   • How to dynamically load and switch the resource file in the web app (ASP.NET) without recompiling ?

    I would like to store the resource files (containing texts for labels etc.) for my web application in the database to be able to edit and create them dynamically later (probably in the UI). My idea was to store the whole resx file in an xml column and simply load it on demand - depending on the language and some other attributes of the current user when he is logging into the application or switching the context. The important thing is that the resources do not only depend on the culture info of the user but also on some context information that can be switched by user without logging off and on again (in our case called "group", not having anything to do with a group of users). Is it possible somehow to load the contents of the resources from an external source and simply switch them without web application being recompiled by the server ? I know that there are some interfaces on which I could hook up and implement a custom resources provider which reads from the database directly but if it could work somehow with the resx files it would probably make things a lot easier..

For the Sun certifications there are a lot of books and trainers (Enthuware / Whizlabs) but not for the Spring certification. Has somebody done the 2.5 exam already? What was your first impression?
